Mr. Cameron,

Make sure you cover Ron Paul! Why don’t you have any coverage of Ron Paul?

America who is Ron Paul?

Regards,

John J.

Comment by chris

psst… Ron Paul IS top-tier… he has won over 1/2 of the 20+ straw polls to date, raised $5,000,000 in the last THREE WEEKS! Has over 50% of the military campaign money contributions, is the ONLY Constitutional candidate, and you attempt to smear him in your last paragraph of the GOP Sunday FOXNews debate.. Faux Snooze is disgusting tabloid trash… get ready for Ron Paul to win AGAIN…

Comment by Andrea

Isn’t the big story that Mike Huckabee won by a landslide the vote of the conservatives actually present at the conference?

Comment by Carl Cameron

Thanks for the post.
Governor Huckabee is a serious candidate but the values voters strawpoll is not really a measure of it. Watch him in Iowa, there are a lot of folks predicting a come from behind surprise. It’s early, but the buzz is coming from the same folks who lead me to predict before the Ames Strawpoll that he would take second. If he doesn’t win Iowa he’s out…and so long as he keeps creeping up in relative obscurity he is fine. Too much momentum and his rivals will come after him on tax increases and illegal immigration in Arkansas.

Why all the bias towards the so-called top tier candidates?
You guys never talk about and give coverage to candidates Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul and to a lesser extent Duncan Hunter.
True conservatives will not support any of the candidates other than Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul and to a lesser extent Duncan Hunter.
In my opinion the mainstream media seems like they want to and are trying their hardest to break up the conservative movement therefore electing Hillary Clinton.
Guiliani is a flat out liberal on everything.
Romney is a flip flopper and truely a liberal.
Mccain is a liberal, considering he strongly supported the amnesty bill, among other things.
Thompson is a liberal, considering he has flip flopped on abortion, and among other things.
Huckabeee is a liberal considering he is also for amnesty.
All the above are for open borders and globalist/spreading democracy and sending american jobs overseas and the north american union/anti-american soveriegnty.
All the above are neoconservatives, or better yet liberals.
Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul and to a lesser extent Duncan Hunter are the only candidates that are worth voting for, stop being against these 3 candidates, stop the bias.

Comment by Kevin Houston

It is clear from the pre-debate show that the focus group has been cherry picked to be anti-paul.

just the composition over those who are economic concerned, versus foreign policy concerned…

Later.

Comment by JL Brown

Carl — you need to step in and save the debate, because, well, although the first Fox News debate was the best, the inanity of the questioning by Chris Wallace is making me reach for MSNBC.

Comment by Dieter Kretschy

The questions being asked by Chris Wallace are god awful. What do they have to do with the candidates positions on anything? He needs to get rid of the devisiveness and be specific about what needs to be explained on how each would do! What good does pitting each against the other? Wasting time and energy.
We need to get posituons and what each candidate would do to solve the country’s problems.
Poor choice of questioners.

Comment by Dieter Kretschy

What is Chris Wallace thinking of his choice of questions? Poor direction and too much divisiveness. Let’s get to issues and solutions not what’s wrong with the other guy!!!

Congratulations Fox News.
I am watching your debate as we speak.
I just love the facilitated mudballing between only three of the eight candidates for the first majority of the questions.
First, the generated double-team of Guiliani and Romney against Thompson was obvious.
Second, when Thompson was forced to throw garbage at those two candidates to combat the effect of one minute against two, your encouragement of this squabbling is unacceptible.
That does not go to say anything about the remaining section of the debate, which remains to be seen.
I can only hope that your obvious show-creation will disappear as this debate continues.

I started watching to hear a debate. So far all I hear are the questioners pitting the candidates against each other. The best remark of the night was when one of the focus group memebers said Ron Paul is certifiably insane.
I want to hear where they stand and what makes them REPUBLICAN.

Comment by Sadie

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a real debate instead of the questioners trying to divide and pit the candidates against each other. It took until Wendell Goller to finally ask a real question. How disappointing.

Comment by A Resistor

I’m not sure that my response got through the last time I tried to post it, so if there are two copies of this, I apologize to all those inconvenienced.

Congratulations Fox News.
I just LOVE your facilitated mudballing at the beginning of the debate tonight.
First, your first two questions were obviously an attempt to create a double-team on Thompson.
Second, when Thompson was forced to throw garbage to combat the effect of two minutes against one, you facilitated the mudballing that resulted on both sides.
A candidate acknowledged the occurrence later in the debate. He mentioned the fighting, saying, “I’ll let them fight, and then I’ll become President.” Don’t directly quote me on that, I haven’t written down everything said in the debate.

Whatever happened to polite debates unsoiled by the false creation of stories by the media?

Once again, keep up the WONDERFUL work all of our favorite biased journalists at Fox News. The same who borught us the crackpot Hannity and the arrogant O’Reilly.
You shame those of the right.

Fred Thompson is doing GREAT tonight. I have finally found my guy to support.

Comment by Eric

Tancredo got a total of 3 questions in the whole debate.
The others got at least a dozen questions each.
If that isn’t bias, I don’t know what is.
I’m sick of these so called top tier candidate, and I’m so sick and tired of Rudy Guilliani all over the television every single day.
Where is Tom Tancredo?
I’ll answer that, it’s media bias, you people are purposely ignoring Tom Tancredo.
The only true conservative running is Tom Tancredo, the rest are a bunch of phonies.

Comment by Sadie

The post session is a lot more interesting then the debate. I had Ronald Reagan ahead. The questions now are what should have been asked. Thompson is great in the post session and Rudie was terrific. As I’m watching the Democrat Governor of Florida is on. Rumor has it that it could be a Guiliani/Crist ticket.

Comment by Judy

Duncan Hunter did great!!! He’s got my vote!!!

Comment by Ed

Mike Huckabe won going away. Too bad he didnt get to talk for the first 18 minutes.
Discounting the nut job Paul, good to see that huck won the poll.

Comment by Sadie

I have been involved with my local party for years. I have seen many Libertarians, including the Libertarian Chair, switch to Republican to vote for Ron Paul. I now see they are stacking the poll for Ron Paul. The best I can say is Ron Paul has avid supporters but the remark made by one of the focus group members was more accurate – certifiable.

Comment by Robert Gibson-Taylor

I was disappointed in how much time was spent on Romney, Guiliani and Thompson and how little time was allocated to the other candidates. Its as though the people asking the questions are not interested in the other candidates.
This is very unfair to the public who want to hear what all of the candidates have to say. We want to get to know all the candidates, not just the presumptive front-runners.
Since no votes have been cast yet, the public needs as much information about these people as possible to make an informed decision.
In the next debates, give these other guys some air-time. They were cheated tonight.
Thanks,

This debate was ridiculous. This was like “Who wants to be an American President”,
“GOP Nominee – Real World”, “Big Brother”, “The Price is Right”, “The ‘Amazing’ Race”.

FOX – This is real, not a freaking TV show for ratings and what ever other agenda you had going on. Thanks alot for ruining America.
Goodnight.

Comment by Ben

A debate is only a debate when ALL those present get a chance to be asked the same question and then get a chance to answer them. Fox News stacked the debate as well as th questions and the audience. If Guliani, Thompson of Romney get nominated we are one step closer to the master blueprint used before to bring down other great nations. Shame on us if we are fooled – Shame on those in the audience that booed Dr.

DEbate results as of this time.
38% Ron Paul
10% Thompon
12% Guiliani
Romney
1% Hunter

Comment by Bassman

Man, you Paulites simply can not grasp that your “man” is a wacko who stands absolutely NO chance to win the general election. One wonders if he is such a “man of principle” as I hear daily from his supporters, why did he switched from being a Libertarian to being a Republican … has he actually changed his “beliefs”? … or changed for political expediency?
Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson “won” this debate with Rudy and Romney doing the same song & dance. John McCain had the best line.

Comment by Eric

Those votes for Ron Paul are his hardcore supporters, they are not “stacking the deck” as Neocon Sean Hannity said.
And this is coming from a Tancredo supporter, not Ron Paul.
And it’s obvious that the media is picking the candidates that we will have to choose from, the media is obviously anti-Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul.
Tom Tancredo is the only true conservative running, but the media doesn’t want a true conservative, they want liberals like Guilliani, Mccain, Thompson, Romney, Huckabee, plus Hillary and Barack “I’m a muslim with a middle name of Hussein” Obama.

Comment by Joe & Shirley

Thanks to Fox for a Superb and well organized Republican Debate!!
Clearly Rudy Giuliani won and Mit Romney came in 2nd and out well ahead
of the rest of the field in this debate. Mike Huckabee was right on point with
his comments and showed good clear grasp of the issues.
Ron Paul should be thrown out of the Republican Party as he just doesn’t fit!
Fred Thompson was not as impressive as we had hoped and seemed slow
and out of sync. The rest were lack luster and even our Dear Hero John McCain
who we think is a great American didn’t address the issues effectively, although
his statement regarding how to handle Iran and Russia was excellent.
We feel, a Giuliani / Huckabee team would be fantastic for the coming campaign!
Beat Hillary!!!

I don’t need Sean Hannity to tell me that this poll is being stacked. If you’ve ever been involved in a campaign you would know about what Rush calls “seminar callers”. Yes they are hard core supporters AND they have a network that the other candidates should envy. Without a doubt the local Meet Ron Paul groups are STACKNG the polls.

Comment by Rosie

Text poll was too complicated for the ‘over 40′ crowd, which is not necessarily Paul’s fan base…if the on-line poll was easier to access, I think the results would have been more accurate.

Comment by Lloyd Dobbs

“Sadie”, like many others, attacks Ron Paul ad hominem rather than debate or discuss the ISSUES. Ron Paul is the only candidate who is unafraid to STAND UP for our Constitution.

Comment by Andy Millergren

Mike Huckabee is the only candidate in the debate and in the spin room who does not even blink an eye when responding to a question. This is a man who believes what says and says what he believes and believes in himself so much that he does not change his position. But most of all Mike Huckabee is a man who has his beliefs rooted in America and Americans first.

He has won me over

Andy

Comment by bROOKS cOLEMAN

Obviously, Libertarians (or liberal Democrats) are flooding the text lines to vote for Ron Paul. He had several LOUD boos and was truly the very BIG LOSER in this debate. I think he sounds like an idiot. I personally like Fred Thompson. I am not a fan of Mc Cain’s, but I believe McCain clearly won this debate and the crowd loved him. Giuliani came in 2nd.

Kinda like how the Democrat “operatives” flock to bookstores the first week of release of a democrats book. . .and then within a couple months, they are in the blowout/overstock sections.

People don’t pay attention to books that make exactly one best-sellers list for one week. . .

At any rate, I am a fundamentalist libertarian. But I support Fred Thompson because I feel that a true conservative is nothing more than one who understands the federal government plays a role–albeit limited, making him a true federalist. The states have essentially no sovereignty.

One of the principle reasons the USA is losing jobs and the dollar losing value at a rate of nearly 1/10 of a cent per week to the Euro is because the lack of internal competition between states has lead to an indifferent and failing society, or as Fred so succinctly put it tonight, “. . .a comfortable mediocrity. This is not the United States I grew up in.”

Comment by Ellen Franke

The questions were not fairly divided. I think you must realize by now that Mike Huckabee is right up with the best of them. Fred Thompson is a dud, Rudi is so arrogant, and Romney is a pretty boy. He has had some good experience, but Mike Huckabee is just a constant, common sense man. He is going to surprise the front runners. He is the man I have been waiting to support.

Comment by J. Smith

We were disgusted by Carl Cameron’s presence at tonight’s debate. And sure enough, all he was interested in was setting the candidates at each other’s throats. Stay out of Republican debates, Carl! Unless Brit Hume is allowed to moderate a Democrat debate…………and those cowards daren’t even appear on a regular Fox show. So much for trusting them to defend us from our enemies. Carl Cameron – you belong on MSNBC.

Comment by Shilpi Shah

RON PAUL is the winner. He is going to be our next president. He is the man.

Comment by Kevin Houston

Sadie said

“Without a doubt the local Meet Ron Paul groups are STACKNG the polls.”

And we are going to stack the primaries too. No one owns a patent on who can be a Republican. All we have to do is go down to the courthouse and sign a piece of paper.

I’m sure that every person who bothered to vote in tonight’s text-poll will be at the polling place on primary day.

Ron paul will get a plurality in those polls too. Why? Because he is the only anti-war candidate. all the pro-war votes will be split between 5-6 other candidates.

Eric, I will say this as a Ron Paul supporter: If Ron Paul doesn’t get the nomination, I will only support a real conservative like Tom Tancredo. I will never support big government RINO politicians like Frudy McRompson.

Comment by D Davis

Dear Fox News,

Thank you for the debate.

I like all of the candidates. It appears that most of them share almost identical views on the issues. They are all good men with good credentials. I would be proud to support any of them.

The question is: Who will be the best administrator? Who will be able to win next November?

I would like a little background on Mr. Huckaby. Has he been a successful governor? What is the condition of the State of Arkansas?

So far it seems that Mitt Romney has the best tract record and would be able to carry out conservative ideals best.

Sincerely, Donna Davis

Comment by Kevin

The BIG story is Huckabee walks away with the most republicans support! It’s obvious that supporting Mike at this juncture is the best way to ensure that Concervatives are represented, regardless of the final Republican candidate, in the future ‘09 Republican administration. If that is not Huckabee, then at least he should become a key cabinet member that will protect Conservative’s interests.

34% of tonight’s views were liberal democrats, therefore, Ron Paul’s results. THEY wre the 34% voting for him. He is a Libertarian, not all THAT terrible, but far from main-stream republican values. Why is he even included with a Republican debate – He’d be just as much in place at a Democrat convention. Why was he not permitted to participate there?

Kevin

Comment after the presidential debate in Florida tonight re H&C’s text messaging poll.
With Ron Paul coming out on top, I believe a lot of democrat/liberals are responding just to confuse the results of the poll.
Since I am a conservative republican, after viewing the debate I do like most of the candidates however, I see Mayor Giuliani as the No. 1 candidate. He is the most rounded on all issues and he will win the presidency against any one of the democratic candidates.

Comment by Darrell

I Must agree that your debate was incredibly bias towards those few candidates that nobody can really stand, rudy, romney etc!!! Fox news completly ignored the most pressing issue of our time (ILLEGA IMMIGRATION)!!! If we deported the 30 million illegal aliens we would straighten out many other problems!!! Fox news is a sham just ike the rest of our sickening media and America is sick of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Hal & Sandy

Once again, we were very disappointed that very little attention was given to Tom Trancredo and Duncan Hunter to asnwer questions. We don’t know that more opportunity to answer questions, would move them out of the second tier. How can a really informed decision be made when you are only allowed to hear the points of view of the few? All candidates should be given equal time to answer questions – all should be given equal opportunity to answer all questions. The other candidates will never even have the ability to move from the second tier, if they are not given the opportunity to be heard. That having been said, we do believe that FNC does a much better job of asking questions that are relevent, promote thought and are important to voters. Notwithstanding our dissapointment in not being able to hear the views of each candidate on the various issues, the “real” debate that your panel elicited between the candidates, informative and appreciated.

Comment by Eric

Ron Paul is a neo-hippy and the republicans see right through it.
Ron Paul will lose the Republican nomination and will run as third party Lib.

Comment by Stacy L. Harp

Carl,

I’m totally disappointed at the bias you showed toward your favorite candidates. In the future giving Mike Huckabee some time would be appreciated. Your bias was obvious and that’s sad.

You could learn from Janet Folger and the Values Voter Debate when it comes to asking good questions.

Comment by Jeanette Poeschl

I think Huckabee did very well and, if he is a Liberal as was suggested in another post, I’d appreciate some clarification.

I strongly agree that in ALL of the debates, WAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION is given to Guiliani, Romney, McCain and now Thompson. How about reversing the next debate?

Comment by JoEllen Acampora

I wish there were fewer questions with longer time for the candidates to respond. I wish the questions were meaningful, not pitting the candidates against each other. She said, he said is stupid for an adult debate.

I also wish Hillary would not be the focal point. She hasn’t won the nomination yet so she has no place in the Republican Debates!

You’re great, Carl!

Comment by Jay

Ron Paul shouldn’t be running. Maybe an independent ticket. He’s annoying. The question of illegal immigration was omitted!

Comment by Roger In Mississippi

This was the poorest excuse for a debate that I have seen to date. Fox should be embarrassed!

The supposed “Fox picked top tier candidates” got all the questions and air time. Leaving very little time for other candidates to express their positions on the issues.

I was extremely disappointed with the entire program.

And to add insult to injury Fox thought they might just grade the candidates.

Fox had better hope only slow 5th graders watched their shame debate….. maybe they (the slow 5th graders) wouldn’t notice.

This biased abuse of air time by the “free press” would have Ben Franklin rolling over in his grave.

Does money now control our supposed free press now too?

I think so.

Comment by Krys C

I’m for Huckabee and/or Hunter. They are never given equal time during the debates. Most of the people in my area are very interested in both canadiates. We would ALL like to here more from them and about them during the 2008 presidental race.

Comment by Elle J

I was just reading some of the comments from tonights debate.

I note that some do not get that this is PRIMARY, bickering required.

Generally speaking, I think the format leaves alot to be desired. Don’t be so cheap, have a week long series of debates featuring candidates in groups of three or less. This type format will allow the American people to get a better feel the candidates as individuals and will sharpen the focus on the issues. I think that this type format would also increase ratings.

Debate? What debate? That was a sideshow for the 4 stooges – Guliani, Thompson, Rommney and the forth stooge McCain…!! Chis Wallace ought to go back and take some lessons from his dad… Guliani is obviously the choice of FAUX news… The Pro- gun control, Pro abortion, Pro gay marriage, Pro war candidate says he is different than Hillary… Not, he ought to campaign as her vice for they think alike… Paul, Hunter and Tancredo were snubbed again as usual… Being a Ron Paul fan I consider those 3 are the only conservative candidates running…

Heads up Ron, another donation is on the way…!!

Comment by Vicky

Carl, why doesn’t FOX do a traditional Lincoln-Douglas debate? I believe that you would truly be able to stand out with the voter because you are willing to step out of the box and expose the candidates for the issues. Keep on truckin’

Comment by Shyanna

What was up with the debate tonight? Are Guiliani, Mitney, McCain and Thompson the only candidates running? Seriously, why was Mike Huckabee completely ignored tonight? Even though he had minimal chances to speak, he made a strong impact with his statements. Huckabee is the ONLY choice for true conservatives. HIs record, his life, and his issues reflect exactly what the conservatives want and need. Check out his website: http://www.mikehuckabee.com. Make a donation. The evangelicals want to back him, but they fear he can’t get the funds to win.

How does Sean hannity get away with some of the things he says? Ron Paul supporters are “stacking the deck”. Well what the hell was he trying to get at. Rudy supposedly has millions of supporters, so where were they to “stack the deck”. How about Thompson. Or Romney. Or McCain. For crying out loud, people love Ron Paul, get over it. Mr. hannity, just because you don’t support Dr. Paul doesn’t mean that nobody does. Trust me, your opinion is just not that important to us. And your ‘focus’ group, my goodness man, they were pathetic. A laughable group of hand-picked, mindless drones. I didn’t see anyone under 50 years old in that entire room. they want to start more wars, then fine. THEY can grab a rifle and head to the middle east. I am 21 years old and will only fight to DEFEND my country, you know, like the CONSTITUTION says. The only people who are ‘certifiably insane’ (as one of your oh-so-informed focus group members stated about Ron Paul) are those who see Ron Paul win 34% of the text vote and declare the whle thing a sham. For those of you who have never heard of Ron Paul (probably because you watch too much Fox), take just 5 mintues to go to RonPaul2008.com. Please, if you hate it, then never go back to the site. BUt I guarentee you will be surprised to find out that this man isn’t so crazy after all.

Comment by Shyanna

Eric, no offense, but where do you get your information?

At the value voters debate, Mike Huckabee received 499 votes to Paul’s 100 votes. On top of that, Paul brought 99 supporters to the event, so only 1 person voted for him that wasn’t already linked to Paul. Huckabee blew all the others out of the water!

Also, you made the comment earlier that Huckabee was for amnesty. He is not. Check your facts.

Can someone at FoxNews please explain to us why debates for the prospective candidates for President of the United States of America, at a time when America and Western Civilization itself are under attack on multiple fronts…. have been produced in the general format of a game show?!?

A few years ago I caught a debate on C-Span for Canadian Prime Minister. It was just the candidates, the questioner/moderator, and the unseen camera crew. Period.

What I noticed – and what’s made it stick in my mind all these years – is that the depth of discussion and the sheer absence of cheap posturing were in stark, painful contrast to these contemptible game show formats we’ve had to endure with American debates. There was no “playing to the crowd” because there was no crowd. There was more time for discussion – because nobody had to wait for random, meaningless noise to subside. There were no cheap “sound bite” one-liners dispatched – because there was no need to enlist applause in the manner of instant spin.

This debate – and all the previous ones – have been broadcast on the highest-rated cable news network in America. Why then is it considered “necessary” to hold them in an arena-load of 3000 cheerleaders, squealing, booing, applauding and hooting, while the rest of us – you know, the people who have this odd desire to learn what our Presidential candidates have to say on those bothersome things called “issues,” are left to sit and wait for the kiddies’ screams to subside every 48 seconds.

Can someone explain all this to me? ‘Cause I thought the selection of a President was a bit more serious than a game show.

Maybe I’m wrong – hmmm. Bring on them “wild card” questions. And lemme buy a vowel. Meanwhile, ‘can’t wait for the next snappy one-liner so I can laugh like at the comedy club.

…While Rome burns and crashes down around our ears.

Speaking of fire: If there’s a Hell, let’s hope there’s a nice little room with a special row of hot seats, with the names of the people who’ve made the production decisions for these debates engraved on each of them.

Dump the live audiences already!

Comment by John

I agree with some of the others here that Chris Wallace needs to not be one to be asking questions to the candidates. He did not do anything other than pit them against one another, you tried to do so yourself Carl. I wanted to hear questions about the issues, asked in a way they each got to answer. Mike Huckabee is the answer to the divided GOP. I wish Fox people like Sean Hannity would not kiss Rudy’s butt some much and let us hear more from Mr. Huckabee. It is people like Sean who is causing the GOP to be so divided. The voters interested in the moral or social issues are not going to vote for Rudy, I even go as far as to wish he would drop out of the race since he cannot even see he is causing the split. Is this the guy we want to be the next president? Not me!

Comment by Sharon Stevens

The 8 REPUBLICAN candidates are like “tarantulas in a bottle”, climbing over each other.
They whined and complained about how far in debt we are, health care, education,
Iraq, nation building, etc.; but they should go look in a mirror – for it is the REPUBLICANS
who had Carte Blance on our government for 6 years ( PRESIDENCY -HOUSE – SENATE AND SUPREME COURT). They’ve failed ! Why would we ever vote them in again!
AND WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WE EVER PLACE OUR HEALTH CARE IN THE HANDS
OF PRIVATE CAPITALISTS ? SO THEY CAN MAKE HUGE PROFITS OFF OF SICK PEOPLE?
SICK ! SICK ! SICK!

I find it funny that you all are questioning the direction of the questions when it was the Republican Debates on Fox News. Of course the questions were easy, non-issue, bash Hillary questions. It is Fox News. What else do you expect?

What’s up with the “text only” polling format.

Only interested in the views of viewers under 30, or………..just trying to maximize revenues from wireless sponsors, or………….is it a management more interested in hyping certain candidates?

Let’s get real. Older folks are generally more active at the “real voting booth” – don’t want to hear from them? Hell, even your cohorts at American Idol recognize that the vast majority of viewers still prefer to vote via phone.

Are you interested in being relevant, or simply sensational?

Even Newt would be disappointed.

Come on FOX – you can do better.

Hannity is LYING on FOX about Dr. Paul.

The poll results are REAL and ACCURATE.
How do I know this???

I voted for Dr. Paul by text message.

Then Hannity actually became incensed about the voting poll and said we were “STACKING THE VOTE”.

So,

I tried to vote for Dr. Paul again.

Guess what………….

I got a message that said I had “already voted in this Debate. Thank you for your participation.”

It is NOT possible to “stack the vote”.

Comment by TheObjectiveEye

As for Ron Paul:

The man is as spectacularly, catastrophically wrong on national defense as he is right on strictly limiting government domestically. His isolationism is one of the most blatant, often comical examples of context-dropping in all of contemporary politics. To Paul, military “noninterventionism” (a bastardization of a term related exclusively to economics, not foreign policy,) is given the status of a Kantian categorical imperative: Unless an al-Qaida fanatic is actually pushing an AK-47 in your face and the bullet is actually en route to its destination, no military action is justified.

At a time when the United States of America and Western Civilization as a whole are in a fight for their very existence, Paul’s irrationality on national defense is an instant disqualifier for the Presidency. Since he’s virtually perfect on every other issue, he’s of vastly greater value to the cause of individual liberty as a member of Congress. Since he’s virtually perfect on every other issue, his irrationalist foreign policy stand does a vast disservice to the issues on which he is right.

As for the “If Paul doesn’t get nominated I’m taking my ball and going home,” well, don’t let that thar door smack your arse on the way out. We’ll see what single-digit return he gets in November 2008 – and you can forever contemplate the ethical status of the part you played in promoting Hillary Rodham Umbridge Clinton’s failed bid for the office.

Comment by Becky Jackson

I’m not in a local Ron Paul group and I only voted once. I’m tired of Fox News discounting my vote just because it is for Ron Paul. The only stacking going on is by Fox stacking the decks against Ron Paul. He’s raising money and has a lot of loyal supporters, but you continue to ignore him or discredit him and have the gall to say you are “Fair and Balanced.” Absolutely, shameful.

Can the media get any more biased? The article mentions Huckabee one time, Ron Paul none. Was the the debate that was supposed to tell us who we should elect or allow us to make up our own minds. I am tired of hearing the phrase “long shot candidate Ron Paul”. You advertise fair and balanced but according to who?

Sean Hannity’s comment the polls were stacked was uncalled for. If he feels this poll was stacked why should we ever believe any Fox poll again because someone may feel they are stacked again? He never should have rung that bell because he discredited any future Fox poll.

Honestly Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee are the only 2 candidates worth voting for. They probably won’t stand a chance since they are not the GOP darlings. In the event they arn’t I will not waste the gas going to vote. I have had it with politicians who tell us what we want to hear so we’ll vote for them, do the complete opposite when they get in office, then feed us another crock to be re-elected. If the 2 real candidates cannot be elected I refuse to take part in the fiasco anymore. And I’m not some young kid. I am a 55 year old life long Republican. Bush has finished me.

This debate was definitely better than the last Fox News debate. I do wonder why such so much time was wasted on trying to figure out who was the most conservative as I don’t believe that isn’t an election or even a Republican Party issue.

I am refreshed to see a resurgence of references to the Constitution and our founding father’s viewpoints in many of the candidates recent speeches and debates.

Though I still find it greatly concerning that the prevailing wisdom seems to believe preemtive attacks against foreign sovereign nations is nessasary for our National Defense. Our fight is with a small group of extremists that are spread out around several nations and our show of force and disposition to violence is only strengthening their ranks.

Bigger government and more powerful presidents seem to be the direction the Republican Party is going (save one nominee). As such if the direction doesn’t change soon we will probably get what we deserve as the pendulum swings back this next election. Maybe that be the motivation to cause reform within the party.

I enjoyed the debate and it gave me better perspective on the candidates, but I would have liked to see more questions directed to ALL the candidates and not just to Romney, Thompson and Giuliani. Huckabee definitely should have gotten more time as will as Hunter and Tancredo. And while the jabs at each other were entertaining, more focus on the issues would have been appreciated.

It was a very special moment to see the respect given Sen. John McCain. I hope it resonates with the voters that this is a person who has all the qualifications to hold the office of the President. I am so concerned that his age has been made too much of an issue, which boggles my mind when looking at the ages of many of our Senators! Don’t people realize that 70 is the new 50? A standing ovation for someone should not be taken for a farewell, in my opinion. It was a show of appreciation, pure and simple.

I sent ONE text for Ron Paul. From what I understand, FOXNEWS only allowed ONE text per phone number. Surely FoxNews has the technology to identify how many unique phone numbers sent texts for Ron Paul. Hannity is ignorant… there was no “stacking” of the texts… Fox’s own technology wouldn’t allow it.

I am a life-long Republican and I am voting for Ron Paul. I will write him in if I have to. (P.S. I voted for Bush– twice!)

Duncan Hunter was the clear winner in this debate.

Huckabee was by far the winner!!! More time needs to be given to him in the debates.

Did anyone notice that Fred is the only person up their that consistently actually answered the questions! Most of them simply talk about what they’ve done in their previous roles, or their tent pole issue like Tancredo & Hunter on immigration and Paul on foreign policy. Yes, Fred is not the most exciting speaker, but he can beat Hillary, and will fix most of what Bush messed up.

And don’t blame the media for the “Second-tier” candidates not getting coverage, because they do it to themselves. When every question results in the same answer, there’s really no point in asking more than one. I agree that the primary/election process is screwed up, but if you expect to get elected you have to know how to work the media. The same is true for once your actually elected…if the media is not on your side, you aren’t getting anything done.

Carl, Do you feel this debate was actually fair and balanced? If so, would you please tell us why you believe that to be the case and do so in a manner that will convince the 90% of those commenting here to the contrary, that you are correct.

To the Objective Eye’s comments I applaud your very keen observation. You are definatly on the right track with your post. Here is some text from an e-mail I recently sent to a free press network. “Upon further review, I have come to the conclusion that Fox’s entire debate process, from including the questions, and to whom they were asked, as well as the pre and post show commentary, appeared blatantly engineered to be more like an infomercial promoting fox’s viewpoints and only the candidates with agendas that they support while attempting to discredit anyone that does not support their views. I feel that this is an important story for your audience to hear. It only confirms the fact that you promote, of how vital true free press and journalism is to the world, and has become an endangered species, rapidly moving towards extinction, giving way to special interest with big wallets, who hunger and thirst for more control, no matter what the cost. My suggestion to Fox for the next debate, is to hire Vince McMahon and the production team from the WWE. They have many years of experience at creating and promoting high profile realistic looking live contests, where the outcome is determined before the event, with a tremendous amount of commercial success.” Hopefully this sheds a little light on the subject. To Joe & Shirley. I bet you didn’t know that Hillary & Mitt are half brother and sister (different dads but same mom), & Rudy is their uncle. They dont tell anyone for obvious reasons, but they do secretly meet once a week along with John McCain to share political views, just in case your wondering why they all sound alike. I also heard that Huckabee is Richard nixons nephew. I can definately see a resemblance. Did you know that Fox is planning to air yet another reality show called The Candidate, starring Fred Thompson, with guest apperances by Rudy, Mitt, Huckabee & John McCain. Special guest appearances by Hillary, Obama, & John Edwards are also expected.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article FOXNews.com, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
