MCCAIN SAYS HE’LL SUPPORT MUKASEY FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

- per Malini Bawa –

Republican presidential candidate John McCain says both he and his colleague Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) will vote for Michael Mukasey for attorney general.

Opposition to Mukasey’s nomination has grown, since he stated that he’s not sure if waterboarding is torture.

Senator McCain has repeatedly expressed the view that waterboarding IS torture. And as a former Vietnam POW, he’s long been an outspoken opponent of all forms of torture. But now McCain says he’s satisfied that Mukasey’s stand on waterboarding.

The Senator took questions Thursday from a Rotary group in the Charleston, SC, area.
