I personally think the whole Phil Martin thing should be dropped. I mean, come on, we are talking about something that happened in the 70’s and 80’s!!!!! People that were BORN IN THE 80′S are adults now. and they have matured and grown and I believe I will give Martin the benefit of the doubt and assume that he has also grown and matured as well. I would imagine he has matured quite a bit, to be that heavily involved in politics and such, IN THE CURRENT ERRA!!! As for Mr. Thompson, I think he should let the past be in the past and just focus on the future. Isn’t that what a presidential candidate does? If Phil Martin can help his campaign, and has things to offer him, AND he is a long-time friend, that to me, is a “no-brainer”! Mr. Thompson. keep your friends close…I will just leave it at that. if your opponents want to sling dirt, there is plenty dirt on them to throw right back!

Jan, you have to be kidding. The Clintons have been involved in so much it is almost laughable to think that Hillary could hold anything up about anybody. Sheesh!

Fred is the best choice so far and it is proof caus ethe Demo sleeze wagon is starting on him. Make me feel good really.

What an intriguing series of comments, AR:

Bill Clinton committed so many “crimes”?
No, actually Bill Clinton committed NO CRIMES.

So, first, you think REAL criminality should be forgiven.
But then, you think that FAKE criminality should be brought up over and over and over again, for decades???

Again, the Truth (IF your religion encourages you to speak Truth about your fellow man) is that Bill Clinton has committed NO CRIMES.

The TRUTH is, Ken Starr took all of his charges against Bill Clinton to a Grand Jury. The Grand Jury refused to indict Clinton for any of Ken Starr’s charges. That’s how our justice system works. The prosecutor has to PROVE a crime; he can’t just CHARGE it to make it a crime.
So, if REAL criminality should be forgiven, at what point do you forgive FAKE criminality?

In America, you have to actually PROVE that someone commit a crime; you don’t just get to slander them, based on your own opinion.

So, do you just make up your own defintions regarding criminality and our laws?
If you’re so locked in to what you (as opposed to our justice system) labels as “crimes” –
well, then, I’m very interested on your take on Scooter Libby’s CRIMES.

(I’m pretty sure this comment won’t make it up on Fox News. Too much Truth, and not enough Rightwing Slime Machine propaganda being spewed for their taste, me thinks.)

Being from the town that Phil Martin left five years ago I can tell you that Phil Martin is an abolute unreformed crook. Between starting one of the most crooked banks ever to be run, ala Community Bank and Trust, which he used as a personal piggy bank, or to cheating investors (Dr. Scott Hodges, Dr. Tim Ballard, Ellsworth Mckee) out of millions of dollars Phil is a crook. Fred Thompson used to come down to Ooltewah where Phil had a lake house and have “party” weekends with Phil so if didn’t notice that almost everyone Phil knew was trying to sue him over something then he is even dumber than Nixon said he was. There are story’s of helicopters dropping suitcases full of money into fields in the 80’s and Phil picking them up, and he was arrested and or held in Atlanta a while back. There are former strippers from his days in Florida, now married to different business men around town, because Phil introduced them. There is a whole list of landscapers, and builders who had to go bankrupt because Phil didn’t pay them for the work they did at the Hampton Creek Development. While people are looking around they should look into his relationship with our County Mayor, Claude Ramsey, Phil hired his kid and got special work done by the County. Let’s face it Phil got out of most what he did here and in Florida because he knew people, and they let him off. Now poor old Fred is being spattered with the muck of Phil Martin. As I said before if he was too dumb to realize Phil stunk then maybe just maybe he is to dumb to be President.
