St Pete debate preview…are the Clintons listening?
by Carl Cameron
The republican will debate tonight and it could get bloody (scroll down the page for last nite’s post on this subject) Hmmmm, ya think these R’s might have somethin’ to say about Bill Clinton being for the Iraq war before he was against it?
Check out Special Report tonight where I will talk more about the consequences of Bills change of tone!

The Republican candidates can try make hay of Bill Clinton’s comment all they want, but I actually think it helps the Democrats in the long run. Most people favored the war, and now they don’t. This all serves reminds them of how we were rushed to war.
What the Clintons have been able to ask America over the last 24 hours is:
“Why did George W. Bush pull the inspectors out of Iraq and attack, when the weapons inspectors weren’t finding any weapons?”
That won’t come up tonight because these are Republicans. But Bill Clinton will have the floor tomorrow, and he’s going to ask that exact same question on the campaign trail in his own good ole boy way. The Republican candidates tonight will simply give him a means to defend his answer once again.
And, of course, at this stage of the Iraq War, most Americans now DO want to know why Bush DID pull the inspectors out of Iraq, in order to bomb Iraq for wmd’s that were not being found. I don’t think that helps Republicans.
For whatever reason, Republicans seem to believe that talking about the Clintons HELPS them.
To me, it makes the campaign become Bill Clinton v. George W. Bush.
And, these days, we all know who wins that one.
