Murtha said the surge has brought down the violence but that was not the goal of the surge (as Bush himself has said). The goal of the surge (which was suppose to last only a few months), was to give Iraq "breathing room" to get a political settlement in place. So if you use Bush's own criteria for success, the surge has failed. Any questions? Another uninformed Fox Fan.
