First Opposition Drop of the Night

The Univision Debate has been relatively peaceful thus far—without any of the sparring or attacks we saw last week in St. Petersburg, Fl. But the Fred Thompson campaign just sent out a reminder to reporters about Mike Huckabee’s more lenient attitude toward Fidel Castro.

The document is below:

Huckabee: Mr. President, Lift the Cuban Embargo

Summary: In 2002, Governor Huckabee strongly advocated lifting the embargo against Cuba saying it “harm[s] our own agricultural and business interests,” “has not helped the people of Cuba” and has “provided Castro with a convenient excuse for his own failed system of government.”

“Huckabee, the GOP governor of Arkansas, wrote to President Bush seeking action against the embargo.” (Jeffrey Birnbaum, “Business to Bush: Let Us Into Cuba!”, Fortune, 5/27/02)

“All four House members, both senators and Governor Huckabee strongly support doing away with the trade embargo.” (Kevin Freking, “Legislators Call For Ending Ban On Cuba,” Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 3/22/02)

“‘The United States’ policy of unilateral embargo against Cuba continues to harm our own agricultural and business interests here at home and has certainly not helped the people of Cuba,’ Huckabee wrote in his Feb. 14 letter [to President Bush]. It’s not right to continue to make American farmers bear the burden of a policy that hasn’t worked, he said. Huckabee cited a study by Texas A&M University reporting that the embargo hurt Arkansas more than other states, costing Arkansas lost farm exports of $ 167 million a year and a loss of almost 4,000 jobs.” (Michael Wickline, “End of Cuban Trade Embargo Benefits Children, Snyder Says,” Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 3/29/02)

“In a letter to President Bush, Mr. Huckabee wrote, ‘U.S. policy on Cuba has not accomplished its stated goal of toppling the Castro regime and instead has provided Castro with a convenient excuse for his own failed system of government.’” (Letters, “Time To End Embargo Against Cuba,” Washington Times, 2/27/02)

Unfortunately, the MSM and even the conservative talk shows don’t cover Fred Thompson’s campaign as it should be covered. Each has its own agenda…..to support a GOP dummy who is not truly electible (such as Huck…Gomer Pyle), or they are pushing for their Mitt or Rudy candidacies. Fred Thompson is the most electible candidate…..with integrity, honesty, and a clear vision where this country needs to be..not just today, but for it’s future. All the talking heads are intimidated by Fred and his honesty, his conservative stand on the issues, and his air of confidence…whether he’s speaking at a GOP Debate on national t.v., or a small group of voters in a church, restaurant in NH, gun shop, etc. He tells it like it is, and he’s the only “Real Deal” among the 2008 Presidential Candidates. It will be a truly grave loss to all Americans who want to live in a free country, one that is defended against terrorism 24-7, who respect our military and honor it, who don’t want a socialistic state dictated by big government as the Democrats have in mind………..if Fred is not the 2008 GOP Presidential candidate.

Another Jimmy Carter spouts off about foreign policy…great. AND this clown is supposed to be conservative with two, count’em, two whole issues and only one of which he didn’t change recently.

No, no. lets pass on this silver-tongued Bozo.

What’s in the water in the Arkansas governor’s mansion anyway??

Fred is the ONLY Common Sense, Consistent Conservative in this race. Why the media doesn’t cover him a lot more than they do speaks volumes. Not only are the Democrats afraid of Fred, but it appears that the MSM (Fox included) is too. Sorry Fox, but your bias for Rudy is very transparent.

And Huckabee? Are you kidding me? Are conservatives really serious about supporting this guy? That would be a definite win for Hillary and that is exactly what the Democrats are counting on. Take notice, the Democrats have yet to say one negative thing about the Huckster.

People keep saying that Fred is lazy? Ha, they need to look in the mirror. They’re the ones that are lazy when they don’t do their research on each and every candidate in order to make the most informed vote they can. This is about our country people – Wake Up!!

Use Your Head – Vote Fred
