Alan Keyes Does Not Disappoint

He’s railing against “elites”… accusing the moderator of a conspiracy to keep him silent… and pitching his website from the podium

As Campaign Carl predicted, Alan Keyes was in fine form at this afternoon’s debate. The energy! The eloquence! The anti-establishment rants!

You don’t always know what he’s talking about, but he says it with such vigor and absolute conviction that he at least gets credit for keeping the discussion lively, and the other candidates on their toes.

Like most people, I’m not even sure how he managed to get in on the debate with no campaign office in Iowa and virtually no public support. Maybee I should have tried to get on the debate too.

I tend to agree with Mr. Keyes that people weren’t giving him much opportunity to speak. And I think he’s an unashamed Christian – the only one not afraid of standing firm in his faith no matter if it cost him votes or not. He’s got his priorities straight – putting God back in this country and the schools, and keeping the unborn safe. I urge you to put lots more coverage of him on the news and give him a fighting chance.

Alan Keyes was the most intelligent candidate in 2000 and is head and shoulders above anyone who is running this year. He would make a great President, and is just what we need in these trying times. Yeah, people listen and some of them don’t know what he is talking about–he’s head and shoulders above them intellectually as well. The first poster suggested he had as much right to be in the Iowa debate as Keyes. Not hardly. Keyes has proven his intellectual prowess long before now. Go to his website and view some of his past speeches and debates, particularly his Sept. 2000 debate with Alan Dershowitz on religion and you will get a glimpse of his powerful intellect. But, of course, he has no chance. The media decided that in 2000 by ignoring him. They will do the same this year. We got a glimpse of that in this debate today. He is already written off so why give him any more time than is absolutely necessary to speak. He has dark black skin and was soundly defeated in Illnois by Obama, whose pretty face and platitudes over came his lack of anything of worth to say. This writer is not black. I am very “white” and well educated. I am smart enough to know that Alan Keyes is a great resource that this nation is allowing to go to waste. What a loss for the country. There is no other candidate running for President who will give us anything but business as usual. In the case of the Democrats, they offer catastrophe for the United States If you like Godless socialism, vote Democrat!

I think that this debate was a joke from beginning to end. Who’s idea was this debate and who decides the subject matter and the questions. It was a joke and that is not just my opinion, that is the general consensus of everyone that I have spoken to. There was nothing included in this debate that is of importance to the American people. I was sorely disappointed and where did Alan Keyes come from? What was that all about and who’s idea was that anyway? The networks or the moderator’s?

I have knowledge of the Keyes campaign since he filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) on Setpebmer 14, 2007 to the present, as a grassroots supporter. Cameron and Hume have lost credibility, in my opinion. I would prefer they get the facts before besmirching anyone’s good name. How much of the other news I hear on FOX is based on nothing more than speculation from gentlemen who are handed a microphone from which to speak?

Seems like the candidates try to condense their identities, ideas, and principles into 10 to 30 second sound bites with the luxury of 60 seconds made available to some within the context of an American “Debate” or paid commercial. This strikes me as “Old Fashioned” – pre internet – from the days when publicity and global exposure was expensive so that quick wit could be all that was needed for election.

I would like to see (via internet or through web conference) a real debate between candidates in pairs where positions that are held counter to each other are discussed and truly debated until completely expressed. It might mean each candidate gets 30 minutes to 1 hour, but the video would be helpful to understand differences and common ground between candidates.

Candidates who differ on defining topics would have popular webcast click counts on their video resulting in direct feed back to the candidates showing which issues / topics were important to the electorate.

Alan is as powerful a candidate as he is primarily because of his potential to dominate within a true debate venue. He has some videos posted on his http://www.alankeyes.com/ web site and I can view them whenever I want to help me understand his position. I would like to see Alan debate each of the other candidates in a full debate.
