How many counties are there in Iowa? “99 Bloomin’ Counties!”
Marion, IA
Governor Romney addressed a packed holiday dinner at the Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa this evening. This was the largest crowd of supporters I have seen with around five to six hundred in attendance.
The presidential hopeful spoke with his wife, Ann and was full of his trademark “aw shucks” humor and definitely garnered some laughs from the audience.
Romney often talks about his son, Josh, visiting all 99 counties in Iowa to stump for his father, a plan that was originally Mrs. Romney’s idea. Tonight when reciting the story of Josh buying a Winnebago on Ebay and packing his family up to travel around Iowa the Governor recounted the story with Josh asking his mom, “Do you know how many counties there are in Iowa?” The Governor continued, “99 bloomin’ counties!” The Governor often uses folksy, 1950s style phrasing, but “bloomin’ counties” is one of the best I’ve heard. I am going to try and keep track of all the “Golly Gee” moments on the blog, so keep checking back.
doneAnother funny moment came this evening when the former Iowa frontrunner went through the states that he is going to win a la the Howard Dean yell, “I’m going to be in Nevada and I’m going to win Nevada. I’m going to be in Wyoming and I’ll win that one and Michigan and we are going to end up doing real darn well.” But, the Governor stopped before an embarrassing scream took place, “Brian over hear was afraid that I was going to scream as I said that. The Howard Dean moment, but I’m not doing that. No predictions like that and no screaming allowed!”
Governor Romney continues campaigning in Iowa tomorrow and then goes to San Diego for a fundraiser.

[...] question: Does this sound anything like a “Dean scream” speech or is it just the media trying to sabotage [...]
Oh give me a break.. Howard Dean was absolutely rabid, he was foaming at the mouth.
Romney is clearly still coherent and as lucid as ever.
I saw Mitt today in Bettendorf. He came across as real and very cool. I liked seeing him in person and I am even more confident in his ability to win than I was before
Mitt is calm cool and collected and seemed to be having fun. He was outling his hopes on elections and did not even raise his voice. Jay I am glad to hear people in Iowa are coming around and starting to take a look at the many reasons why Huckabee can never win the general election such as his desire for free tuition and for illegal immigrants, desire to isolate aids victims in 1992 when it was known casual contact did not spread aids, his pardoning of murderers, rapists and other people with ties to him or his friends, higher taxes for people in Arkansas and giving Jobs to donors once he got elected. He also signed on to a ad in the USA Today by the baptist church that said women should submit to their husbands. We do not need him as a candiate, he is the one the democrats want to face, which is why he is getting all the press. Unfortunatly Fox seems to have fallen for it too. There should be healine news and blog after blog on his record and yet nothing..what gives Cameron?
Mitt has sucessful corporate experience, was CEO of the Salt Lake City Olympics and a sucessfull Governer of Mass. He converted to pro-life and vetoed embryonic stem cell research bills. He didn’t just change his position verbally he acted on it. I did not know much about him until recently but the more I see the more I like.
I saw Mitt at Microsoft, and he was so open to every question, it was excellent.
The best part about this story is that his family supports him, and he supports them.
They aren’t just there as part of a photo opp (see Hillary and her mom or Hillary and Chelsea…)
Curious as to why the Justice Department refused to name individuals responisble for Anti Romney telemarketing prior to New Hampshire Primary??? Leads one to questions was Huckabee’s campaign behind the calls? Curious also as to why the media has not asked these questions already.
