Hunter Huck on God and Guns

Anti-gun liberals think of the catch phrase “God and Guns” as a pejorative and often use it to ridicule republicans for pandering. Not Mike Huckabee, an avid hunter of duck, who explains hunters keep wildlife alive.

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

He bagged one pheasant then jetted to Florida to bag some campaign cash. Unlike Rudy Giuliani who is actually campaigning in Florida as his firewall, Huckabee could just as easily have been in L-A, NY or Texas…he’s after money and it happens to be in the Sunshine state today. Right now his campaign priorities are all about Iowa, then a good showing in New Hampshire, and another winning performance in South Carolina. Anything less and he may eventually wind up in Arkansas’s equivalent of the political happy hunting ground.

Fox has Dick Morris on all the time (just heard him on Gibson’s Show-the Big Story) to talk about the campaign. Huckabee was a Morris client back when Morris was still close to the Clintons, and I’ve read reports (don’t know how valid they are) that Morris and Huckabee often talk about this race, and that Morris may be “advising” Huckabee, at least unofficially. When Morris is interviewed on Fox, he ALWAYS says good things about Huckabee and Huckabee’s chance of winning the primary, while he either outright slams or subtly undermines other candidates. He NEVER offers full disclosure about his relationship to Huckabee. Bill O’Reilly is the only person on Fox who’s ever challenged Morris on the issue of Morris being “for” Huckabee, and Morris tried to deny it. O’Reilly said he didn’t believe it–more evidence of why O’Reilly is so popular.

NOW I just heard (The Big Story) Morris label McCain as a “moderate” and Huckabee as a “conservative.” If Huckabee is so “conservative,” then why are so many conservative organizations and individual leaders going after him?

Does anyone really think Morris’s slick little “moderate” vs. “conservative” comment wasn’t deliberately aimed at undermining McCain and propping up Huckabee right before the Iowa caucus and N.H. primary? Think Gibson challenged him? Of course not. Neena Easton (sp?) ALWAYS states, for full disclosure, that her husband works for a particular candidate (I think it’s Romney). That’s not her–it’s her spouse, but she is up front about it anyway. Why isn’t Morris up front about his connection to Huckabee?

If Fox wants to maintain its credibility, then why doesn’t it make Morris disclose his relationship with Huckabee, or use other Republican consultants? I’ve emailed Fox News about the Morris-Huckabee issue at least three times in the past, and I’ve emailed several Fox commentators. I’ve never gotten a response, even though some of those emails were sent weeks ago.

Huckabee is no true Conservative. Maybe a moderate/liberal? Just ask Rush who the one only true Conservative is in the running (Thompson). Fox news is as bad as the other News Networks as when it comes to they have already picked who they want for President. Kyle from Arizona.

I found it unbelievable that people would criticize Huckabee for, as they put it, “pandering” to a Christian constituency. Considering 80% of the vote will be Christian, I call that good campaign strategy, especially since this aspect of the man is real.

I suppose he will be attacked now from the left for supporting our hunting heritage and right to keep and bear arms. Last time I looked there were millions of sportsmen who hunt and keep arms, and guess what? – they vote!

I’m assuming Gov. Huckabee would make a much better hunting Vice President than the current shooter. LOL!

Fred is a little too lazy to actually do anything for himself. Maybe his wife will do that for him.

Considering that Huckabee tells us to vote for him or die,
I think he’s had his Howard Dean moment.
It’s on U-Tube.

“These three birds said they would not vote for me on caucus night.
You see what happened to them.”

Is he chanelling President Musharaff or something?
Dope.

Mike Huckabee is a true conservative. His record is one of honesty and integrity. His family and personal life is a reflection of that as well. His positions on conservative issues have been consistent and have not changed. Now how many other republican candidates can you say all that about?

Comment by Cory

Huckabee and Giuliani shouldn’t even be considered Republicans. They are as liberal as can be. People in Iowa need to wake up and support a candidate who will actually govern as a conservative, like Fred or Mitt.

Bella,

What facts do you base Fred’s “laziness” on? Do you have any, or are you simply regurgitating what Fred’s opponents and the headline writers in the MSM have said about him?

Thompson worked his way through college and law school. He then went on to accomplish what I consider a very successful career in politics, law, and of all things, film. It’s a sad fact that in American politics today, if a candidate isn’t throwing himself at the media’s feet, or rushing off to pander to every “leader,” who has access to campaign soft-money, they are labeled as lazy or indifferent. I think Fred is just honest to go straight to the voters, rather than kissing the rearends of “kingmakers” in the media, and the media is having a hissy fit about it. You know–sort of like a spoiled child does . . . . :)

I’d love to know what the people who call Fred lazy have accomplished during their lifetimes, and whether it stacks up against Fred’s accomplishments. Probably not. “Lazy” is just an easy but false barb to throw at a guy who really can’t be touched on the issues–if you’re a conservative.

I agree with the first post…if a political pundit talks on tv, he or she MUST declare if they have ever received any money from a candidate they will discuss. Mary M. does it all the time…Dick Morris is definitely in the pockets of the Huckster…

It is beyond unethical.

Are there any democrats running? Nothing on Fox reflects that they are.

Huck’s trying to have his cake and eat it too. Nice try Huck.

Listening to Campaign Carl drool over Huckabee is making me throw up in my mouth. Luckily, Greta called him on it a bit when it came to this ad. Carl was being an apologist for Huck and I thought Greta was going to laugh out loud. (just like the reporters did when he aired the ad) Kudos to Greta for atleast calling him on it.

Fair and Balanced? Not when Campaign Carl is drinking the Huckleberry Kool Aid.
