Huck trades the masses for the media

Gov Huck did no public campaigning with Iowans today. With 4 days left NO RETAIL GET OUT THE VOTE RALLIES??????

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

If Huck wins the caucuses, his new ads may be credited with halting his slide. If he comes up short people may wonder if this lost Sunday, lost him the race.

Or it could mean that the attacks from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, And the “Fair and Balanced”, Fox News and the rest of the liberals did their dirty work and the people ate it.

Dear Campaign Carl.
I am a small farmer and college professor from rural Iowa. I am supporting on Ron Paul in the caucuses. But what I write to you about is a suggestion for some candidate-neutral coverage.
I am terribly impressed with the quality and dedication and spirit (and large numbers) of the young people coming into Iowa from all across the nation to support their various candidates. I have associated with a group working for Ron Paul, and met another group working for John Edwards. But no matter; I think many of the candidates have such well-intentioned, principled young people here. They are not drinking or smoking – they are going door to door in the cold, they are setting up computer-based chats and polls, they are camping and cooking for themselves. They seem to be from different socio-economic backgrounds, and yet in a strange environment, they are functioning so well as a team. They are literate in many of the important issues of the day. I just think that every now and again, we can say some things are working correctly in America!
I know that good-news stories are not as popular as scandals and rivalries, but maybe one of your people might look into this fairly new phenomenon. Best regards, and thanks to these young people, who restoreth my faith in the future of the republic.

When Huck loses IA it will because the IA voters finally got to hear his record and like the rest of us don’t like what they see. Huck is a fine christian man he just is not fit to be president. He didn’t even know which side of Pakistan borders Afghanistan. Mitt Romeny has answered the so called flip fop accusations. His reply is simple if you want to know how I’ll act as president look at how I acted as Governer. His actions as Gov are consistent with his current stated positions. It is a reach to say he would act one way as Gov and another as president. He is a deeply christian man and when it cam down to actually having to make the choice on legeslation he chose life. His buisness and exectuive accomplishments are unparalled by any of the candidates. He is a ardent family man and has earned my vote.

He is “retooling his message” in otherwords, he is pulling a clintonian, Arkansas huddle to figure out how to spin his pardoning murderers and the other 1,033 convicted criminals into a nice message that the American public can swallow. Fat chance.

The ads portraying Huck as soft on crime are, unfortunately for the Huckster, TRUE.

He did release murderers and other convicts. He did fight to keep sales tax on food (money that he would need to give adult, not child, illegal aliens college scholarships–as the big-gov’ment liberal that he is, he doesn’t realize that the scholarship money for illegal aliens would mean less money for US citizens…unless he looks at us taxpayers as a bottomless well of $$money)
Huck did try to take $70,000 worth of furniture from the governor’s mansion (“gifts” from lobbyists…)

He better think up a way to change his Arkansas history.
Or is he going to come out with another comercial declaring vote for me, I go to your church?…those whisper campaigns swirling around him sure stink to high heaven…I am not a Catholic, but I can not tolerate the anti-Catholic messages that were all around the Huckster attacking Sen. Brownback during the straw poll.

Judicial watch has named Huck to its top ten list of most corrupt politicians, joining Hillary, Barrack, William Jefferson and Sen. Craig. That is not a good list to be on.

Huck can’t take the heat of the truth of his record.

I don’t want Dumond or Willie Horton living in my neighborhood. That is why juries convict criminals and that is why we have prisons–to punish the guilty and to protect the innocent. Huck seems to think that he can overturn 1000+ juries simply because he likes the guy/gal or their preacher says they are a changed person (Dumond). Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s.

Don’t even get me started on his blasphemous use of taking the name of the Lord in vain (“Jesus Juice”–unbelievable!! How vulgar! I heard him use the term on TV and thought that it was merely a slip of the tongue, and then he said it when I met him in Seattle…wow. And he is a preacher? Does he not know the 10 commandments? Or are they merely ’suggestions’ for this preacher boy?)

Huck is a great comedian. Lot’s of one-liners and such, but how can he make such glaring international errors regarding the recent assassination in Pakistan?
First, he APOLOGIZED (for what??) and then he didn’t even know the facts on the ground. That, my friends, is speaking without thinking and we can not afford to have a president who does not think before he speaks.

Huck is not ready for prime time (other than as a televangelist). He is not presidential.

Carl,
Can you and the rest of Fox News please tell the truth about those Club for Groth ads. I’m starting to think that Fox News wants Mike Huckabee to lose Iowa, I hope I’m wrong about that because if I’m not that means Fox News is bought off by those that want to see Huckabee fail. Please expose the lie that Club for Growth is telling.

Comment by BigRob

He need to try to find a way to hide those 12 pardons of convicted murderers…and the other 1000+ pardons that he offered…

Huck also needs to find a way to hide judicial watch’s top ten list of crooked politicians…

The pastor-in-chief needs to also find a way to explain why he was apologizing for the assassination in Pakistan and why he does not know the facts on the ground in that very important country. We can not have Presidents speaking out their backside without real information. We need a commander in chief who will think before he speaks. We can not have one that will say that we are going off to the middle east on a crusade (again)…Huck will fly off at the mouth without thinking. He did it twice on this one very testy issue.

Huck is not executive material. He is peter-principled out. Do not caucus for him.

The Huckster will also need to hide the $95,000 in taxpayer money his wife apparently spent on dresses…and why he was given a barbecue before the giver was appointed to statewide boards…and the free eye exams…and the $70,000 in furniture he tried to take from the governor’s mansion…and why he is being paid to speak at churches (beyond the amount that can be donated to his campaign)…

And why oh why do you continue with the anti-catholic, anti-mormon bigotry?

I do not want to see sectarian violence in America. There was enough anti-mormon killing in the 19th century (see governor bogg’s extermination order on the Missouri secretary of state’s website).

The Huckster needs a few more days off to figure out how he can make Romney look like he didn’t save the Olympics from financial ruin and so they actually turned a profit and weren’t canceled just weeks after 9/11…and probably drop a few more anti-mormon misquotes and half-truths in Christmas cards sent to people in South Carolina…wait, “somebody” already did that.

Isn’t it odd that the anti-Romney push polls started at the same time that the Whisper campaign in the churches in Iowa began…and the huckaboom started?…coincidence? Nope. Bigotry.

Huck is not presidential. Bottom line. He is folksy and cute, but he is not a commander in chief.

Comment by Ingrid

Huckaboom is happening because people liked you on the first date, you were cute and funny, but then, as we are getting serious, we realize that you aren’t the conservative we thought you were.

Those ads better find a way to hide the dozen murderers that you pardoned and let come out on the streets so that they can now be shopping next to me at walmart, or sitting next to me at McDonald’s. Prisons are where convicted murderers are supposed to be.

You can not explain that away, huckster.

Comment by Dale Creech

I am growing tired of the finger pointing and name calling between the so called “conservitive candidates”. I understand that this is not uncommon for any campaign, but I would like to think that Romney and Huckabee could rise above the mainstream and practice what they preach; pardon the pun. With there professed moral backgrounds, naturally I hold them to higher standards. The political mudslinging may very well serve to undo them and will most certainally influance my vote.

FACTCHECK.ORG: “Mitt Romney casts himself as tough on illegal immigration in a new ad in which he says that, as Massachusetts governor, “I authorized the State Police to enforce immigration laws.” He doesn’t mention that his order never took effect. It came in the closing days of his administration and was rescinded by his successor.
He also promises, “As President, I’ll . . . cut funding for sanctuary cities.” Maybe so, but as governor he took no action against several such towns in his state. We find Romney misleading on both counts.”

Gov. Romney’s “Governor’s Commission for Gay and Lesbian Youth”, (which gets hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars) organized schoolchildren from their school-based “Gay-Straight Alliance” clubs to participate in a “Youth Pride Day” parade through downtown Boston.

Romney arrived on the scene with great promise, but is leaving the Republican Party here (Mass) in shambles. Not only are the Republicans yielding the governor’s office for the first time in 16 years, but registered Republicans have fallen by 31,000 since Romney took office, and their legislative presence is at historic lows.

“Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show. In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters, and 14 registered Democrats.” BOSTON.COM

“We need to make sure that we have a strong person who can take the baton from President Bush, and Gov. Huckabee is certainly one of those individuals. He’d make a fine president” MITT ROMNEY, 2005. Hmmm, for once I agree with you Mitt!

More negativity about Huckabee by FOXNews — the Mitt Romney support network.

Huckabee is the right guy for the job! I own a retail store in NH just over the border from what we call “Taxachusetts” Romney’s taxes in Massachusetts have been great for driving customers to my store in NH. When Romney ran for Governor of Mass he was anti gun, pro gay and pro choice. If this is your choice you are in the wrong party! Pro gun, pro life and pro family value people have one clear choice and it’s Governor Huckabee.

Carl:

Has Huckabee lost his grip?? Between that news confeence today and his comments pertaining to the Bhutto assasination, you have to wonder whether he and/or his campaign organization have totally unravelled. A press conference to announce that he won’t run the negative ad that he produced and then proceeds to play it at the press conference. He says Romney is dishonest? How obviously disingenious can one be?

Comment by Ed Feeney

I know Mike looks like a real nice guy but I’ve had about as much religion in the WH as I can take. If I see one more faith-based inititive or hear about weekly meetings with the likes of Dobson, Perkins etc. Im going 3rd Party. After loading up Depts. with zealots from Liberty College regardless of experience you’d really think the repubs would offer a change but no way. Were just gonna get more of the same. This Country can’t handle 4 or 8 more yrs of God in politics.

Comment by Spencer

Huckabee is done. This guy has no business running the country. He can’t even decide if he wants to attack Romney or be positive. The other thing that isn’t being reported about Romney’s “truth” ads are that they are true. It’s true about Huckabee and McCain. Huckabee sounds like a cry baby when he’s trying to buddy up with McCain, just swallow your medicine Huck. As for McCain, he’s just getting some straight talk. I don’t want to hear anything out of him. If you can’t take the heat then get out of the kitchen. Do these canidates think that the Dems are going to be so soft on them in the general election?

It’s like you can’t point out any differences between yourself and others without it being an attack ad. When Romney changes his positions, it’s flip flopping. When McCain and Huckabee flipps on something and Romney points it out then he’s running a dirty campain. This is almost laughable.

Ron Paul looked like an idiot on Meet the Press. He wants to bring all of the troops home across the world and he doesn’t even know how many are out there. Much less what would happen if he did bring them all home. So please all of the Ron Paulers just know that the reason why he isn’t getting but 4% of the vote nationally is becuase he’s a fool of a canidate.

So Mike took the day off to honor the Sabbath and attend church. So what is wrong with that? It will not cost him the election as Carl implies. (and probably hopes) For all of you people who are so condemning, do you know all of the facts. If Mike was such a terrible govenor, why was he relected two times. Your lies and distortions are NOT going to keep the truth from being heard from others. Even the liberal media press have pointed out Romney’s unfair accusations.

Comment by Sandra Camp

I don’t understand why John McCain keeps saying that Mitt Romey is a “flip flopper” when he has explained and explained about changing his mind on a few issues. Oh, maybe he also can’t seem to realize that when he changes his mind it is also called “flip flopping.” Whenever he is on TV I immediately switch channels as I cannot stand to see him or hear a thing he has to say in his whimpering voice. I don’t believe a thing he says or what he says he will do.

Comment by Mike

Why did Huckabee’s “adult” son hang a defenseless dog? Why is he hiding his wife and family? He doesn’t act very Christian to me…more like a snake oil salesman. Romney is the ONLY candidate who not only makes the perfect candidate, but it is easy to see that with the great family he has produced with his lovely wife, they represent a first family & first lady we could all be proud of having in the White House. Guilliani would make a much better attorney general in Romney’s cabinet! Thompson or McCain for VP!

Comment by TrueHawk

It was great political theater. A candidate with heart changes his mind, proves he really did have the ad, and gets more publicity than the ad ever would have. I think they have a school for politcal genius down in Hope. Folks love to call Huck “Gomer” and of course Jim Nabors, “Gomer”, went on to have his own variety show showing great intelligence and talent and cried “Golly gee” all the way to the bank. Huck is a smart one.

Comment by TrueHawk

Huck reached the masses through the media. He cannot draw on his offshore accounts like Richie Rich Romney does. Mean Mitt does attack ads all the time and has managed to unite McCain and Huckabee supporters. How smart is Mitt? Folks in Iowa and New Hampshire will not let him buy the presidency, and so Rush and Hannity can just pout some more. Did they bet too much on Mitt on Intrade?

Comment by Amy

In response to Saturn Sam – The reason why Fox News doesn’t tell the truth about the Club for Growth ads is because they are for Mitt Romney and Romney’s company is buying Clear Channels. After all, all these so-called conservatives at Fox News want to keep their day jobs. I actually quit watching Fox News about a month ago when all we heard about was the good Mitt “flip flip” Romney. The media should give us “fair & balanced” reporting so that the american people can choose who to vote for. However, I’ve found out that Fox News isn’t “Fair & Balanced” and have actually switched from The O’Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes to CNN.

My son lives in Massachusetts and there is NOTHING conservative about Mitt Romney. He changes his views based on the company he’s with. The reason Mitt “Flip Flop” Romney doesn’t talk about his own record is because his record in Massachusetts is so poor. Of course, his ads aren’t negative ads they are contrast ads and according to his campaign there’s a difference. However, if someone would do this to him he’d have a fit and get into a temper tantrum and trouble like he did when he had to sit waiting in traffic at the Salt Lake City Olympics. The more research I do on him the more that I’m amazed that all these conservative talk show people like Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck would even bother with him. I urge my fellow Americans to check out this website, to take an in-depth look at Mr. Romney. http://www.trueromney.com as well as an article from the Boston Globe. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/art

The american people should be doing some of their own research and not rely on the news media.

Comment by Greg Norman OK

Huckabee IS the liberal media’s Republican candidate. There is no way Huckabee could win a general election and he effectively eliminates the Clintons’ many “ethic issues”. For the first time in their lives, the Clintons could run as the “honesty & integrity candidate.”
Huckabee’s many ethical issues would make all evangelical Christians look stupid and dishonest.

Comment by Henry

One of many problems with Mr. Romney is his being able to justify his flip-flopping. This is a very serious and legitimate issue. Here is why: In Mormonism culture, it believes in a God who flip-flops again and again on critical issues. This is one reason that Mr. Romney cannot afford to answer questions about Mormonism. Look, if God can flip-flop what is wrong with it? The record can be checked out and whoever doubts this does not know anything about Mormonism. There are numerous instances of the Mormon God flip-flopping again and again. Here are a few: It flip-flopped on the sanctity of marriage, from one man, one wife, to polygamy, and then to a suspension of polygamy; it believes in a God where first the gospel was for all people, then to treating blacks as less than worthy to fully receive it, then flip-flopped again; it flip-flopped on Zion being in Missouri, then to Zion being everywhere; it flip-flopped on the requirement of a socialist type economic system; it flip-flopped on the requirements of Eternal Life from that taught in the Bible; it believes that God told Mormon propehts that all other religions are part of the works of the Devil. His many flip-flops, and especially to his being able as Governor of Massachusetts to support a law to publicly fund abortions is simply a part of his flip-flopping that America does not need. Flip-flopping is too much ingrained in Mormonism to have confidence in who Mr. Romney is from one time to another. Then there is his Mormon temple oath that commits his loyalty to interests of the Mormon church above all other interests. Religion normally is not a significant factor. There are many secret aspects of Mormonism that makes it a big factor.

Hey Carl,

I don’t want to talk about Mr. Hucklebee but I think he should have had Chuck Norris go in and “sweep” his campaign office when those senior citizens took over. But no, he just had the bus driver take off and ride around town. Poor fella’, he must have been scared without his shotgun.

But hey on a more constructive topic, Did you know that Freedom is gettin’ popular again?

What’s not to like about Ron Paul’s platform? Freedom is popular.

Ron Paul = Restoration of Constitutionally Restrained Government, Sound Money, Individual Liberty, Increased Individual Prosperity, A Strong, Competent Homeland Security and Balanced Trade with other countries.

EVERY other candidate, whether Republican or Democrat – without exception = more debilitating, national debt, higher taxes, bigger government, loss of American soveignty to other world powers, addition loss of personal privacy and freedom, weakened immigration policy, weaker national security and bigger trade deficits.

People are noticing the difference – in spite of Faux News.

But don’t take my word for it. Prove it to yourself. Go to YouTube.com and just type any of these words into the search box ….
Guess who comes up first with millions of total views.
Amazing!
- Champion of the Constitution
- CNN
- ABC News
- Fox News (Faux)
- Hope For America
- Freedom
- Mad Money
- Glenn Beck
- Stop Dreaming
- Land of the Free
- Tea Party ‘07
- Grass-roots Sensation
- Morning Joe
- Tucker Carlson
- Meet The Press

Now tell me.. who needs who?

Ron Paul surely doesn’t need the media. They need him.

I live in the South and I have heard preachers say “they were called by God to preach the gospel”. So why did Huckabee tell God he wanted to go into politics instead? Could it be power or does it pay more money?

Comment by Michael Maylen

At the Midwest Republican Leadership Conference in Indianapolis I had the opportunity to hear Mike, Mitt & Fred. I went in supporting Mitt and left supporting Mike. Mitt made reference to the “founding parents” during his speech. What is that all about? Talk about politically correct!

When looking at a presidential candidate I want to look at what he plans to do.

I believe that Mike Huckabee is the most conservative of the top tier candidates.
He is for the Fair Tax, elimanating the IRS!
He is for winning the war in Iraq with honor and continuing the war on terror. I believe he has a better grasp of the enemy than the other candidates.
He passed the “Fair Dismissal Act” in Arkansaw which enabled poor teachers to be fired.
He is for the Human LIfe Ammendment. He knows the sanctity of Human Life.
He is Anti-Abortion – not like Fred who wants to leave it up to the states.
He is for securing the borders and they giving illegals 120 days to register and then return to their home country awaiting return call from the US. He feels that all the people here should be able to hold their heads up and not live in the shadows. He is against Amensty. period. final.

These are jsut some of the reasons I believe Mike Huckabee is the best choice for President.

I hope the people in IA can’t be purchased.

Could it be that the media spins for the guy that spends the most money with them on ads? Fair and balanced until the all mighty dollars is flash ….. lol lol!

What I like most about Huckabee is his lack of money and the fact that corporate America nor the Republican machine own him.

And anyone who receives a W-2 should vote for his fair tax because you are the only one paying your fair share today. The underground economy causes you to pay twice what you should.

Comment by Coco

Hmmmm, let’s see….a hypocritical evangelical pastor/entertainer (Huckabee) vs. an experienced, supremely intelligent presidential candidate (Romney). As a nation, we are voting to represent and run the most powerful country in the world. The future of America and the direction it is headed is an extremely important and serious matter. I want the best, most qualified person leading us, not a clownish amateur that doesn’t have a clue. I can see why all the respected, true conservative talk show hosts, journalists, bloggers, etc. have come down so hard on Mike Huckabee and John McCain (have you read the list–including Rush Limbaugh’s latest statements today) on Iowansforromney.com?). Huckabee’s latest wacko mis-statements and publicity stunt fiasco on Monday just reiterates why I’m voting for competence. McCain’s just plain mean and is way too liberal.
Go Mitt!

Comment by Tia from NC

Tony, Huckabee has been receiving donations from corporations actively lobbying for amnesty for illegals, like Tyson Foods. They also will not suffer if Huckabee tacks 30% taxes on all new, manufactured goods, because nobody is going to buy a used, half eaten chicken in the grocery store. Hollywood stars like Chuck Norris and radio shock jocks like Neal Boortz won’t suffer, either, neither one of them have run businesses or employ many people like housing, auto manufacturers, and retailers do, etc. Do your homework, please. We do not need another Jimmy Carter, we barely made it through that recession and it took us many years to recover. This is not a game and your vote is a responsibility to the rest of us.

Comment by Tia from NC

I agree, Ron Paul did not get the credit he deserves. I’m not for him, but fair is fair. And Carl, if you are going to keep harping on Huckabee, you need to tell people the campaign ploy that got him votes in Iowa, warning people that not voting for him would have a “chilling effect” on any other evangelical who decides to run in the future and those 527’s stuffing religiously bigoted garbage in people’s mailboxes. You also have not said ONE THING about McCain accusing Romney of deriding Mormons in an illegal push poll that was touting McCain and how nobody will find out who is behind it until the primary is over in NH. It is big news there and Fox is covering it up. Why??

I might also add that Huckabee campaign workers are appearing on Fox and building him up, without Fox disclosing who they’ve been working with…. like that phony, Dick Morris.
