HUCK A BOOM
HuckaBOOM!
Comes the Revolution?
Christian conservatives do not explain the whole Mike Huckabee win.
His authenticity and populist message struck a chord with heartland middle income and blue collar values voters.
That populism will now be expanded to emphasize fair trade, a tough but compassionate approach to illegal immigration reform, and the “fair tax” (replace income taxes with a 23% sales tax)
These will be among the things Huckabee will use to cast himself as the outsider against John McCain (ironic since McCain is often criticized as a maverick, but he was the chairman of the senate commerce cmte) and Mitt Romney who he has already cast as too rich to be able to connect with average folks.
McCain had an edge in NH against Romney, in a three way race including Huckabee, McCain may be even more strenghtened now.
Obama’s big win will inspire independents in NH…bad news for Rudy Giuliani who was counting on Indies for a respectable first primary showing.
Money matters.
Romney looks even worse having outspent Huckabee 10-1 in Iowa. Huckabee will enjoy a fundraising windfall now and the press will be huge, But Romney is a mult millionaire and willing to keep spending “for the long haul.”
Giuliani, McCain, Thompson all have cash problems. Not so Mitt.
Romney and Huckabee aides agree tonite was an anti washington message, and they note Obama’s change message is part of that.
Huckabee knows NH is far more secular than Iowa or South Carolina. Earlier this wk, Huckabee aides routinely said if they won they would next emphasize SC. That will shift now as they embrace the magnitude of tonites win and make a renewed effort in NH…
As one aide put it “this is a big wave, we can surf anywhere now.” That may be overconfident but with two debates this weekend and a record of strong debate performances, Huckabee knows a moment is at hand.

Fox News is a propaganda machine. Boycott the debate unless Ron Paul is allowed to attend.
I was a Huckabee supporter until the NY Times piece. He is a very attractive candidate and crazy like a fox — notice how he was able to air his anti-Romney attack ads without paying a dime and while painting himself as someone who would NEVER air attack ads. But after spending the holidays in Little Rock with Christians who are true political conservatives, he scares me. There is a LOT of negative stuff out there on him and he’s a great big bulls-eye for the Dems. I don’t want the GOP to lose this election!! I want the borders sealed, I want the US to come home honorably from Iraq when the job is done, I want the government to quit sticking its hungry face into my bank account, and I want to stand up and be proud to be an American again. Mike Huckabee is NOT the guy who’s going to do any of that.
A Vote for Huckabee is a vote for Obama/Clinton. Huckabee cannot win the Presidency. You Evangelicals keep voting for him but please no crying when Hilary is in the Oval Office. He even allienates his fellow Republicans (Mormons). Maybe one day they’ll wisen up and join the Dems. Then again … Iowa GOP … you voted Democrat tonight. Congrats.
I am so proud to be American today, I truly cannot believe he won by such a large amount…Thank God that this day has come I think America may have turned a corner. I like Huckabee and McCain I would cross over and vote for a republican if they are up against Clinton…BUT WOW I CANNOT BELIEVE OBAMA DID IT…In a white state a black man in America has begun his chance to become President of the United States. My family is abuzz my neighbors are abuzz, the internet is abuzz. I believe now…I believe
I am very glad and excited that Mike Hukabee won for the republicans in Iowa, and I think Mitt
Romney is showing his true colors as he is just another dose of the same ineptness and bowing
down to the special interests. I hope the people in New Hampshire will forgive Mr Huckabee for being
a Practicing Christian and an honest man and back him despite his many good attributes.
Paul Carithers
Huckabee should thank his lucky stars that two debates stand between now and NH, because that is were his bread and butter is aong with the retail politicking. His money will not come soon enough for an effective ad campaign to be waged until Florida at the earliest.
Huckabee deserved this in spite of Monday’s incident. He stayed positive for months before leaking the abortion co pay on Romney. But many will remember this leak and it may hurt him in the future.
Huckabee needed not jsut a win, but a big win… he got it. I am really glad I got on board back in august. Makes me feel like a good luck charm.
Huckabee wins! Congratulations to him on a brilliant campaign to date. Looking at the polls in the crucial swing states of Ohio and Missouri, he can win in November, too!
Go Huckabee!
Campaign Carl is King! Thanks for the reportage (as well as your all of your Fox colleagues)!
It makes me sad that Huckabee won Iowa. Of all the republican candidates that I met I felt that he was the least sincere. If he won the nomination I think I would vote for a democrat over him, unless it is Hilary, then I would not vote for president.
Yes ths is certainly a Huck-a-boom, and you are right this isn’t just a Christian thing. There is a huge FairTax grassroots movement behind him as well. I’m enjoying pundits scratching their heads. I went to caucus where Huckabee overwhelmingly won my precinct, and liveblogged as the results came in at http://shanevanderhart.wordpress.com/2008/01/03/caucus-night/.
There is a lot more to the Huck a Boom. If you want to read a good article on Huckabee, check out the July/August 2007 issue of New Man Magazine. Go to newmanmagazine.com He is the real deal.
Thank you for mentioning that the Mike Huckabee win is WAY BIGGER than just a Christian conservative vote. I am tired of hearing that already. He really does take an AUTHENTIC and genuine stand for issues. He really seems like the one candidate out of all – Republican and Democrat – that is REAL. When you place him next to the others, he makes everyone else look like robots. This nation is ready for something more than the typical robot politician. When I hear the word change, I imagine someone with real heart and honesty in the white house, and I think of Huckabee.
The decisive Iowa win shows that Governor Huckabee has hit a chord with mainstream conservatives. His victory shows that his appeal goes way beyond evangelical voters. What many pundits miss is that voter realize that his fair tax plan goes beyond tax simplication. It is a means to reduce government intrusion into our personal lives by eliminating the requirement that people report annually their personal finances to a federal agency- the IRS.
Mike Huckabee is a candidate of character and charisma! He will be an excellent President of the USA!
Governor Huckabee was outspent at least 20 to 1.
He also is not constantly bringing up the topic of his religion.
The media is doing that.
Fox News and similar broadcast media is clearly slanted and opposed to a Huckabee nomination. I can only hazard a guess that this bias is based largely on his own personal religious beliefs as yourself, Chris Core, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and others keep trying to make him out to be some sort of a nut job.

Come on Carl,
We know you’re working hard and have got to be tired, but I think you’re missing the point. While I agree that Christian conservatives (Evangelicals) aren’t the whole story, they do make up the “space between” between Huck and Mitt (to coin the DMB song). Without them he would have been at best 2nd place – where he belongs if you ask me.
The rest of the story is Huck’s undercover Army of supporters and the media. Everyone last night kept saying things like: “How can somebody with no money and only a limited staff best somebody like Romney will all his money and organization?”. Then they would follow that up with “I guess money doesn’t win elections after all” – it was making me sick. Of course money isn’t everything. But when you have a defacto Army of thousands of supporters, doing your bidding for FREE, who are galvanized in what they see as a battle between Good (Evangelical Underdog Preacher) and Evil (Horned Devil Incarnate – a.k.a Mormon) you can accomplish wonders. After all look what UBL does with his minions. Then on top of that Huck plays the media types like a string quartet and they (you) fell for it. Not only did he get you guys to air his garbage ad for FREE (over and over and over), he got you to “symbolically” beat up on him a little so that he’d get the sympathy vote. If he keeps this up, he could waltz into the general election and not have to spend another dime – you guys will do all the work for him.
Mitt Romney is trying to run an issue and idea based campaign, Huckabee is regurgitating old ideas while running a campaign of Master Manipulation.
There’s no real substance behind Huck, the kind of compassionate imigration he’s talking about is not what America seems to want, or McCains bill would have passed. He’s got to know that he hasn’t got a snowballs chance on a summer afternoon in Arkansas of getting his fair tax past – I wish he did to be honest but it just isn’t realistic. Nope, Huck is a Southern Democrat in Republican Clothing thats all – and that in the end doesn’t win Republican Votes.
I do applaud Iowa’s Democrats however, for proving that Americians will vote for an African American. I am in no way a Obama supporter, but it was great to see it happen.
OK, here’s my title. HuckaBLING! A new line of medallion jewelry based on… Kidding. I think Huckabee is a short term phenomenon that will fade as quickly as fast as Hillary went bust. Although we might need to land a house on Hillary to get rid of her! Kidding again… Barack has what’s called panache and Hillary can’t pay enough people to feign panache!
Sorry to see Mitt didn’t win Iowa. 2nd place is still solid this early in the race. Mitt can lead. He is the “Turnaround” king. Washington needs a leader not a bass guitarist, who raises taxes, lets criminals and murderers off, is soft on illegal immigration, and spews half-truths about his opponents’ record while saying he is staying positive, and complaining he is being “attacked” because Romney ran adds comparing their records.
Myth #1
“Mitt is a flip-flopper.”
Mitt has changed his public stance on 1 issue–Abortion. Privately he has always been pro-life. When he ran for the Senate in 94 and then later for Governor in Mass. he ran for the purpose of fixing the things that he was good at fixing. Abortion wasn’t his issue. He was going to leave it alone. He is not a life-long politician. He admits he was unclear on what the role of government should be on this very, very sensitive issue. Then as governor he faced bills such as “embryo farming”, etc. He came down on the side of life every time as governor. Now he has become somewhat of a crusader whom I believe will work hard to protect unborn children in America. Everyone else will talk about it, but I beleive a President Romney could actually have a significant impact on overturning Roe V. Wade. So, don’t be fooled by the YouTube soundbites Mitt’s opponents use in their media ads. It is dangerous to base your vote on soundbites taken out of context.
Myth #2
“I can’t vote for a Mormon”
Romney is a man of faith. The Bible says, “. . .by their fruits ye shall know them.” Romney seems to have a great marriage and adult children who love and respect him and are all working hard to support their father’s candidacy. He gave a great speech on how his faith would inform his presidency. You can see it on mittromney.com. He gave it at the Bush library recently. It is a remarkable speech whether you like Romney or not.
Regarding some of the specifics of Mormonism: First of all you need to understand that the most sinister kind of lie is a “half-truth.” You know one of those lies that sounds so true and so persuasive because it’s packed with SOME truth? The Mormon Church, was organized in 1830. The name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Mormon” church is a nickname. Some of the Church’s teachings were different from what was commonly accepted and taught by the average Christian church at that time. All kinds of misinformation and misunderstanding, some partial lies, and some all-out malicious lies have been passed down from one generation to the next since 1830. Many of these lies have been published and re-published so much that many in the Christian world now just take them to be fact. I think if you are a serious person considering voting for Romney but you are somewhat hung up on his religion, you ought to look into it. Be very careful about your sources. There are some really bad websites out there spreading plenty of misinformation. Some of the sites clearly are combative and malicious while others are more discrete and respectful but spreading the same bad info. and old lies. If you really want to know about something, why not go to the source? For starters, the Mormon church has an informative site, mormon.org.
I read a number of comments to this news article that say a lot of negative, ignorant things about the mormon faith. And the authors claim to know what they are talking about. They are full of it.
I’m 34 years old. I’ve been married to one wife for almost twelve years. We have 5 children. I joined the Mormon church when I was a senior in highschool. I have since served a two-year full-time mission for the church and have also served in many different teaching and leadership positions in local congregations where I have lived. And, I read a lot. I don’t know everything, but I have studied the faith indepth. I beleive in Jesus Christ with all of my heart. I live the commandments and the principles of the Gosel of Jesus Christ better than I ever did when I used to go to other churches. My mormon faith has been very good for my marriage and my family. We certainly aren’t perfect, but we are a very happy, law abiding, patriotic, good neighbor-type family.
Here are some TRUE facts about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:
*First, Members are often referred to as “Mormons,” “Latter-day Saints,” or “LDS.” The term “Saint” means “member.”
*Second, the Church was restored in 1830 in upstate New York with Joseph Smith as its first prophet and president. Today it is headquartered in Salt Lake City, with President Godon B. Hinckley as the present prophet.
*Third, there are now over 13 million members in 176 countries and territories. About 6 million of these are in the U.S., making it the fourth largest Christian denomination in America. The Church is one of the fastest growing Christian faiths in the world, a new chapel building is completed every working day. Members pay a tithe, which is 10% of their income, making this and other programs possible.
*Fourth, local congregations are led by volunteer, unpaid members. Both men and women serve in assigned leadership positions.
*Mormons are well represented in politics and government. 16 members of Congress–in both parties. Members also serve in high and trusted positions throughout the world in business, medicine, law, education, media, sports, and entertainment. (So, people who say that Mormons are weird, or stupid, or ignorant, or cultish, or whatever are wrong and must have had some kind of misunderstanding along the way.)
*Practicing Mormons are committed Christians with strong traditional values.
*Mormons believe in the eternity of the soul, that God is the Father of our spirits, and that we can return to Him after death.
*We believe that Jesus Christ is our personal Savior, and we try to model our lives after Him and His teachings. We commemerate Christ’s atoning sacrifice in our Sunday worship services, similar to taking communion in other churches. We accept as fellow Christians all who believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and the Savior of all mankind. Many Christians do not understand that we have much common ground with them. Joseph Smith taught that Jesus Christ is the core of our belief, and everything else is an appendage to it.
*We believe the orginal church that Jesus established was lost and has been restored again in our day. The priesthood, authority given to man to act in the name of God, with apostles and a prophet to lead us, has been restored as have all necessary ordinances of salvation.
*We believe in and we use the Holy Bible, both the Old and New Testaments.
*And we believe in the Book of Mormon and other books of scripture which support and authenticate the Bible and testify of the ministry and divinity of Christ and of God’s ongoing revelation to man. The Book of Mormon is “Another Testament of Jesus Christ.”
*We have a very family-centered theology and lifestyle.
*We have a deep commitment to marriage (defined as a union between one man and one woman). Polygamy, a limited practice in the early pioneer days of the Church, was discontinued in 1890–117 years ago.
*Families and individuals, whether members of our faith or not, can attend Sunday services in our chapels. In Church we worship together and instruct each other from the scriptures.
*Latter-day Saint families are encouraged to hold “family home evenings” weekly, usually on Monday nights. This provides a regular and predictable time for parents to teach values to their children and to have fun together. (Even if you aren’t Mormon, I invite you to adopt this practice with your own family.)
*The Church has auxiliary programs for women, youth, and children as a support to the family. These programs provide such things as religious instruction, opportunities for Christian service, sports, drama, music, and Scouting.
*There is also much focus on extended family, geneology, and personal family history, providing young and old with a stronger sense of roots, identity, and belonging. The highest and most sacred ordinances of our faith relate to our families, both living and dead, and some of these ordinances take place in our temples.
*Studies show that practicing Mormons are healthier and live longer than the national average. In 1833 the Lord revealed to Joseph Smith the Word of Wisdom, which is the way to live in order to enjoy a long and healthy life.
*Those who are married in and attend the temple regularly have a divorce rate far below the national and world average. (About 6% per an LA Times article published awhile ago. Compared to the 50-60% divorce rate nationally)
*Mormons acheive an educational level that is higher than the national average.
*Over 70,000 members volunteer at their own expense to serve for 18 – 24 months in humanitarian efforts, Church service assignments, and full-time missionary service throughout the world.
*Mormons place strong emphasis on self-reliance and a solid work ethic. The Church encourages active involvement in our communities and providing service to others. The Church continues to donate substantial money, goods, and services to humanitarian causes around the globe, including untold hours of labor donated by members to assist in disaster cleanup and relief.
I hope something I’ve written will be helpful to people who are taking a serious look at Romney. He would be a fantastic president.
(Most of the bullet points under “TRUE facts about the Church” are from M. Russell Ballard’s article, “Faith, Family, Facts, and Fruits.”)
I think it’s ludicrous to say that Christian conservatives (in particular, Evangelicals who have a history of disliking anything Mormon) don’t explain the Huckabee win. Christian Conservatives make up 40% of Iowa’s voters (by FoxNews’ estimates). Huckabee got 34% of the vote. Do the math!
Don’t underestimate Evangelicals’ distaste for Mormons combined with their ability to mobilize. Huckabee won because a) He’s a Baptist minister, b) Romney is a Mormon, c) He’s likable, and d) Iowans “punish” anyone who dares to run an ad critical of an opponent’s record.
Dear Sir
As a Canadian I appreciate the coverage we get on the U.S. upcoming election as it will affect our country in many ways.
I am however having difficulty in understanding why Mike Huckabees’s support from the evangelical right and his former position as a Baptist minister is constantly mentioned in your reports while the religious affiliation of the other candidates is seldom mentioned? For instance we did not hear how many of the Romney votes might have come from Mormon supporters . Would the Mormon church been asking questions of you today ?? We hear nothing of what religious group Mr Obama ’s supporters come from .
Can I assume that one can say anything with an obvious slant about evangelicals that you would not say about someone who may have a Moslem. Catholic etc backgroumd?
At least the rest of the country can take comfort in knowing that the Huckster will not decieve the people of NH !!!
Huckabee’s numbers started going up when he started touting himself as a Christian Leader and began stirring the anti-Mormon pot. He is a smooth-talking politician who can project himself as nothing but a down to earth, folksy kinda guy, who just happens to be running for President.
He knows how to work the political system and is doing a great job at it. In fact, he reminds me very much of someone else from Arkansas. I think we should give him a nickname, how about “SLICKABEE”.
If you want a president who is a nice guy to sit down and chat with about hope and values, then vote for Huck, but if you want someone who’s experienced both in government and out, who knows about the economy and how it works and can bring many people together to fix problems, then the clear choice is MITT ROMNEY!
Mike Huckabee’s rise in the polls in Iowa began when he started touting himself as a true Christian leader and began stirring the anti-Mormon pot.
Although he comes across as a nice, folksy kind of guy, with a sense of humor and a great way with words, he does not have the experience and conservative background to win the nomination. People need to look past the surface, and see that he really is a calculating politician through and through.
He knew exactly what he was doing when he ran the subliminal Christmas ad to appeal to his Evangelical base. And he also knew exactly what he was doing when he made a negative ad, but then decided not to run it, but showed the media so they could run the ad he supposedly didn’t want running (Got that?) A win, win for him. He gets free publicity, free running of his ad, and gets to take the high ground and say he’s above running negative ads. The sad part is that Iowans didn’t see through him. The rest of the country will though. MIKE HUCKABEE IS THE REPUBLICAN VERSION OF BILL CLINTON (his nickname: SLICKABEE).
If I was voting for who I’d most like to have as a neighbor, Mike would probably be near the top of the list. But I’m voting for who I want to be my next president. Who has experience, leadership skills and the ability to bring together a coalition of people to fix problems? That would have to be MITT ROMNEY!
I really can’t understand this type of reporting, Carl:
“McCain had an edge in NH against Romney, in a three way race including Huckabee, McCain may be even more strenghtened now. Obama’s big win will inspire independents in NH…bad news for Rudy Giuliani who was counting on Indies for a respectable first primary showing. Money matters.”
I’m from New Hampshire.
McCain has an edge over Rudy with Indies, but NOT over Ron Paul.
Rudy has an edge over Huck with Indies, but NOT over Ron Paul.
Obama has an edge over Clinton with Indies, but NOT over Ron Paul.
McCain and Fred campaigned in Iowa, for 13%.
Ron Paul did NOT campaign in Iowa, for 10%.
Neither McCain, Fred, OR Huck have any money. Ron Paul has LOTS.
And, in your OWN words, Carl, money matters.
The GOP is going to have to reckon with Ron Paul at some point, just like they had to reckon with Huckabee in Iowa. The supporters of Ron Paul are NOT going away until he runs out of money. Right now, that’s not looking like that’s going to be any time soon.
Is Ron Paul going to be in the “fair and balanced” Fox debates now, with a 10% win in Iowa and as much money raised this quarter as Barack Obama??
It explains THE WHOLE THING!!! Biggotted White and Rural… Mike Huckabee got Iowa, but it is really no suprise.
Thanks for all you do Carl! After watching Jake Gibson’s video about you and your team I almost hate to boost your ego!! Anyway, thanks for keeping us updated on the campaign trail. I can only imagine how tired you all must be! Keep up the great work! North Alabama loves FOX!!
Iowa might be stupid enough to fall for Huck, but America is not.
Let’s not forget Huck’s fairtax deception.
23% is not the true fairtax rate. Read the fine print and understand terms like inclusive rate and exclusive rate and you will find that to make the fair tax an “apples to apples” comparison with sales taxes we currently understand – the rate is 30% not 23%.
Huck is not a conservative. His ideas are bad for America and his deception is awful. Iowans – you should be ashamed of yourselves. Huck’s victory eliminates no one. It keeps everyone very much alive in the race forcing the GOP candidates to spend all their money beating eachother up only for the last man standing to limp on to defeat against the well-funded democrats.
Mitt is by far the best candidate with Fred & Rudy tied for a distant second. McCain & Huck rank somewhere in the Ron Paul range…maybe even less.
The scattered field in the GOP is due to nothing more than failure of the media (Fox News included) to ask solid questions about policies of the candidates. I think Mike is a good man but I am not electing a preacher, I want a president. He is very week when it comes to explaining his past and I have yet to understand where he is on a lot of issues. This is because most of the media asking what would Jesus do questions versus presidential questions. Folksy one liners are not going to work when he goes against Clinton. I am very worried about our field of candidates because the media reports more often about polls and campaigns not positions. Professional reporting will result in a worthy candidate- that’s good for most Republicans not good Gov. Huckabee
big·ot (bĭg’ət) n.
One who is strongly partial to one’s own group, RELIGION, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
Completely eliminating the inferior, liberal track record of Governor Huckabee, it is painfully obvious that Michael Huckabee is unfit for the presidency due to his insidious religious crusading. Americans will utterly reject bigotry and intolerance.
“His authenticity and populist message struck a chord with heartland middle income and blue collar values voters. That populism will now be expanded to emphasize fair trade, a tough but compassionate approach to illegal immigration reform, and the “fair tax” (replace income taxes with a 23% sales tax)”.
Finally you’ve seen the light. Huckabee is not a “Southern Baptist Preacher” as you like to refer to him. He’s a political leader with great vision. IM sick and tried of mega rich republicans getting my vote due to social issues and then turning around and allowing corporate America to roll me under the bus. It’s nice to have a “grassroots” gentleman running that’s not in corporate America’s back pocket. He’s taken the best from the Democrats platform and the best from the Republican. He’s a breath of fresh air.

Hey Carl,
I see you’re now in New Hampshire, Manchester I hope. I was stationed at Grenier. I gotta know, is the old Bartage Hotel still standing? We solved a lot of world problems in the Sazarac Room in the 60s.
You’re doing some of your best work. Keep it up.

I must say this a refreshing take on Huckabee with so much Obamamania today. Thanks!
From watching the news coverage, it was very clear that Carl Cameron was and is biased toward Mike Huckabee. He is very transparent and enamored! It is sad that our news reporters can have such an effect on the election process!
I spend most of my awake hours watching fox news channel. I am beginning to believe we report you decide no longer applies.
It appears to me Fox News has decided to support Obama and McCain. I have been a republican all of my adult life, longer than McCain, but if John McCain is the republican canidate for president I will sit this one out. In a interview on Hannity & Combs he said he would be bipartisan in picking his running mate if he gets the nomination. His record on bipartisan ship is mostly with the most liberal Senators.
I have been a Fox News junky ever since it has been on the air but I am very disapointed in the election coverage to date.

Anna, Il
Glad to see Fox News starting to give credit to Huckabee where credit is do. Can’t wait for Fox’s Forum on Sunday. I just wonder if Fred Barnes will every give Huckabee any credit…
I, personally, would not vote for Huckabee even if I had to vote for Obama or Edwards, but never Clinton. I then would vote for an Independent.
It is up to each person to vote for whomever he/she thinks would fix what is wrong or vote against someone I couldn’t vote for.
We all should know everything about the candidates which brings me to a question…Is Fox News the enemy? What happened to the “Fair & Balanced”? Do not silenced viewpoints, you are damaging our nation.
Ron Paul should be in the debate on Sunday evening.
Thank you.
What’s up with you people? How come everybody is against Hillary? I don’t think she lost in Iowa, I think John Edwards is the one that should be concerned, he thought he had it in Iowa. He work for a year the state and lost it. Left Hillary and your misogynistic feelings alone. Remember Iowa is only the first link on a long chain of events.
Ridiculous , everybody saying “Hillary was rejected by 2/3 of democrats in Iowa”
Well, so did Barack and Edwards, they all got about the same percentage. What’s this gang-up against Hillary attitude?
Those of us who are looking for facts about Romney should check out
http://TrueRomney.com
Anyone voting in the primary should check it out.
I think many people mistakenly think that a president needs to know everything, but it’s not true. He mainly is a symbol of a country, and it’s critical that this symbol symbolizes goodness, strength, people’s uniqueness from other countries, and worthiness. Out of all the leading candidates, Dem and Rep. first one not fitting for this symbol is Obama, because it has great implications to have a son of a muslim as the symbol of US. Second one, Clinton will always remind the world of her husband’s scandal, so really embarrassing. And rest of the pack, John Edwards, imagewise, too much suing going on and got him rich, not that nice. And then Romney, I can’t say much about it, but also not the best choice. Really, just McCain and Huckabee are more appropriate. But McCain is a bit too old, and it might not be a good symbol for the superpower. So I think Huckabee, a nice American, with lots of old American values, and good-looking (handsome in a generous, good way, not that kind of sleek way), and not that rich, plus an authentic Christian, (US was founded on true Christian principles) is a good symbol for what America represents in the eyes of the world, and in history. Americans need to wake up. If they don’t see for their own interest in the current world, very soon the superpower position will slip away, and the people of the other countries won’t be that nice to US when US becomes weak. America should unite together, and don’t be naive. Many are waiting for the downfall of US (or the American spirit) in this world. Do not elect a Muslim son to your top symbol, for that will send the wrong message, that US is doomed to be under the Muslim. Even if you don’t mean it, the other side will perceive it as inevitable, as Alah’s will etc. So this is really a bad signal for US. Obama can be Vice President, it’s fine, just not this symbolic position. It’s not really about black or not, but it’s about his Muslim family roots. I understand it’s not his fault, and I’m sorry about it, but name IS very important in this world, because it carries many unspoken messages in a name, any person’s name. I’m Chinese American, and I also think US president shouldn’t be one with a Chinese name, especially in current world when China is rising. It’s just common sense. I love my motherland, and I think it’ll be horror if one day China has a president with a Japanese name. All this won’t matter only in a world when there’s no more countries, then it’ll be fine. That’s what I truly believe for the good of US.
By the way, though I would totally vote for Huckabee, I do feel his fair tax plan might be a bit unrealistic. It’ll be too big a change, and it’ll most likely not become reality. But I don’t think it matters that much. Many presidential candidate don’t get to do what he promised in campaign, and it’s understandable.
The media is trying so hard to knock off Romney….why?? Huckabee has no chance of winning the nomination, and for sure the election. Thats why the lideral media is pushing him so hard. I’m listening to some of the Fox liberal “Contributors” and they are so excited about the Huckster that they can’t stand it. I think the Huck knows he can’t win too, and is sucking up to McCain trying to get the number two spot. The sad thing is, the conservative base of the Republican party hates John McCain. He has betrayed his base over and over, and is now trying to distance himself from it, and no one mentions the famous term “Flip-Floping”. The media just uses the term on Romney. Romney is a good man, and shame on him for working hard in this country and being successful and raising a fine family who he loves so dearly. It seems like success is a new crime to the media. It surely is to the Huck. Oh boy…lets elect someone who is not successful. One that doesn’t even know where Iran is. What kind of thinking is this? The Huck doesn’t have a 60% evangelical base now, “Practicing separation of church and state” to do his work for him anymore. My money is still on Romney, and if given a fair chance to compete without the media either jumping on him or acting like he doesn’t exist, he can win the whole thing, and fix this country of ours so it serves all of us like we dreamed it would for years now. This man can get it done.
Carl,I believe the Christian explanation, for Iowa,is simply that Christian people simply put God first and vote for what they think would please God……at the end of the day, that’s what really counts, isn’t it?
Carl,
I can’t imagine how you find the time to both report and read all these notes! Keep up the effort as I believe your coverage will bear fruit and have bearing on this election.
I believe, historically, that Americans have a reputation for being “JOINERS” and the presidential election this year is structured such that it will prove out that premise. A populist approach to our presidency (1 branch of 3) feels good to the average voter making it easy for populist candidates to garner a following. We have had a populist party in this country before, but its success would have required an unacceptable loss of freedom. I hope we Americans wake up soon and realize that we are our OWN makers of our destiny. Our God given free will is not to be gifted to anyone in the name of their attempt at resolving a personal problem or conflict.
“Would Huckabee’s populist sentiment inform his presidential veto effort in favor of socialist / democrat generated legislation? I think it would have to. ”
Huckabee’s win and Obama’s historic moment are all very newsworthy events, but I would like to see a discussion regarding how ALAN KEYES was accepted as a Republican candidate, attended a Republican debate, and yet was excluded from the Republican caucus and subsequent reporting. A good news story would contrast populism with republicanism for the education of the reader.
As other nations (Iran for example) are looking to the U.S. for an example of how to do an election “Right”, is it in the best interests of Fox, Republicans, or any American in this election cycle to exclude results of a declared contender within this election?
My state is currently running local news that excludes Alan Keyes as a contender within the GOP while claiming that all contenders will be on the GOP primary ballot. Alan Keyes has not withdrawn.
Is Foxnews aware of unreported information that the GOP has dropped Alan Keyes as a Republican?
Is Foxnews dropping Alan Keyes from their list of GOP contenders?
Does Foxnews have the position that Alan Keyes candidacy on a NON populist platform is not newsworthy as a contrast to Huckabee’s message and Iowa win?
Is the involuntary exclusion of a Republican candidate not considered newsworthy by Foxnews (Alan Keyes or Ron Paul)? Nothing comparable happened within the Democrat caucus…
Thanx for reading
The Phoenix Journal Of Business has reported that Joe Arpiao, sheriff of Maricopa County,Az., has endorsed Mitt Romney and that he will stump for Romney in New Hampshire. A living legend among Conservatives, Arpaio may give Romney the boost he needs to beat Senator McCain in N.H. By endorsing Romney rather than McCain, his home state Senator, Arpaio highlights that McCain is weak on illegal immigration while Romney trained Mass. police to deal with illegals. This endorsement is important too because it strengthens Romney’s brand as a Conservative. The MSM will try to play down reporting the endorsement as long as possible because they like McCain.
As an independent, I’ve been very much anyone-but-Hillary this election cycle. In a Huckabee vs Hillary matchup come November, I’d go with Huckabee. I’m waiting on actually seeing Rudy’s viability (or did he shoot himself in his foot not competing in early states…. would suck to be his campaign strategist if he doesn’t do well Feb 2nd!). Like McCain’s principles and his stick-to-itedness on his convictions (still remember the one debate in S.C. where Rudy and Mitt were salivating over who could out-support torture when McCain spoke up that no one in the room so favorable to torture had been tortured as he had much to the boos of the audience). Mitt… well, I don’t think Romney is a flip-floper. To be a flip-flopper you need to have actually supported something before you were against it (to coin a phrase from JFKerry). In Mitt’s case, I don’t think he really supported abortion and gay marriage in the first place – he was just pandering to what he thought the voters of Taxachusetts wanted. Perhaps if Mitt goes down in flames it’ll mark a point in American politics where voters are rejecting overly branded or professionally-marketed campaigns…
I like Huckabee’s style but am leery of his politics. The real dark horse and one that the pundits and MSM seem not to see or hear is Fred Thompson……his message is quite clear and it is steady. It is somewhat comforting to hear and see his focus without the blather and glare of the MSM. As the man says….stay tuned, developing…………
Cameron:
1. Why do you ignore the impact that Ron Paul has made on the Republican campaign?
2. Why is FOX NEWS not allowing Ron Paul to participate in the January 6th debate EVEN after the New Hampshire GOP has pulled it’s endorsement of the debate for this very issue?
3. Do you understand why we are confused about your motto of “fair and balanced” when these questions remain unanswered? And I’m not referring to those lame answers I’ve been hearing on FOX NEWS.
Go read the constitution, then support Ron Paul. Dr. Ron Paul knows the Constitution. Why, again, is Fox News stiff-arming Ron Paul? Do they not want the Constitution to enter the roundtable?
Aren’t you embarrassed to be affiliated with a new organization so lacking in integrity? When Fox News so blatantly trys to silence a credible candidate like Ron Paul, it makes you look foolish. Are you too stupid to see that or have you lost your integrity as well?
Speak up to your colleagues and tell them to include Ron Paul in the forum on Sunday. His ideas will die on their own if he can’t connect with the voters. Fox News should not attempt to influence that process by excluding him from the forum. And if you have any integrity, you shouldn’t be associated with a news organization that would do that.
It is amazing how Carl’s tune has changed since Huckabee won the Iowa Caucas. While listening to Carl making comments on Huckabee vs Romney prior to the vote, I made a comment to my wife on two segements that Carl must be a Mormon. I am not a Huck supporter and fear he has no chance nationally. It appeared to me that Carl’s commentary continually held Huckabee in disfavor! It is a disappointment! I am a Fox Fan!
P.S. Just heard about O’Reilly incident, maybe Fox ought to get back to just fair and balanced. Hey Bill, remember the old proverb ‘pride goes before the fall.’
Thanks, Rod
I’m not with Huckabee, but I feel Carls reports are shamelessly slanted towards McCain and by extention the democrats. Remember Fair and Balanced? Maybe Carl should apply at CNN!
http://www.nhgop.org/
You lost the support of the NH GOP
that speaks volumes.
Hi Carl: What was Huckie dissing you today in NH when you were trying to interview him??He was very sarcastic. Don’t think he is the sweet “Ah Shucks” kind of guy he portrays himself to be!!!You are always professional and kind to these people. He needs a wake up call. He will never be the Republican Candidate. He is just riding a wave now. You should have told him the cute little girls couldn’t vote or him at all after he said you weren’t going to vote or him!! What a simple bumpkin!! You rock, Carl. I don’t know how you stand following these people around!!
Why do the news agencies fill that if someone does not do well in the first couple of states then it is all over for that candidate?
If a candidate goes to a state or states that he has a major religious connection too and wins it, does that mean he or she will win all the other states?
Why should we allow one or two states to dictate who will win it all if the above statement is true?
Why don’t we have one national primary day when everyone votes?
Huck is sly like a fox! He calls ads that correctly mention his voting record and his liberal views as attack ads because he knows it is an inflammatory word and also because he doesn’t want to compare his politics with other conservatives. It works well with most uneducated evangelicals but that won’t last long.
Since I’m an ABC person (Anybody But Clinton) I’m having a great time following the success of Obama in taking the fight to and the presumed coronation from Hillary. The Repubs will sort out the nominee; in fact there even might be a brokered convention? But now we can all watch while Hillary dpends on Edwards to split the Dem Clinton haters with Obama and avoid the coming charges of Racism. First there was the unconscious buzzword from Biden who called Obama “articulate” Now we have Hillary calling Obama “unelectable” Unelectable the buzz word for the country won’t elect a black man. What a fraud; Whites by and large (there will always be a few fringe twits living in the 19th century) will go for the person they perceive as the best person. Go New Hampshire!!

Why does Carl hate Mitt Romney so much? I have never seen such terrible coverage in all my days. I believe that Mitt did lay him off one day and he hasn’t forgiven him. All Carl can say is that if Mitt can’t win NH he is finished. What school did Carl go to? It had to be off shore.
Carl, pull your head out.
Mitt is actually my third choice but I can’t believe the horrible coverage that Carl is espousing.
Carl, why do you hate Romney? It is evident from your reporting. Romney too rich to connect with average voters? What about Wyoming, Carl? . . . Carl?
Reality TV:
Just finished watching the Saturday night NH debate then turned to fox news for reaction. I just can’t believe how you approach this story. Reporters, yourself included, keep saying how Romney took a beating in the debate, taking hits and punches from the other candidates, how they don’t like him, they were bunching up on him, etc. Two things you need to remember: 1st, this primary is much like a reality game show…at the end, only one of these men will be standing. Right now, the weaker ones are going after the one they see as the strongest, and you reporters are falling right into a trap going right along with them. Second, if you watched the debate, and not just excerpts, you would see that Mitt Romney stood up to those less capable candidates and was in control of the night. You need to do some reassessment of your perspective, Carl.
Carl’s bias………………….
Hey Carl after tonights report after debates its clear to see your Huckabee lovefest. First you start off your report by sitting side by side with him, then you let him go on for about 10 minutes. I know the guy does not have alot of money, but between that and your ‘carl cam’ lots of FREE air time. I was also obviously clear of your negativity for Romney after you questioning all the reporters at his plane and stating (your opinion) that Romney was ‘bloodied’ and beat in debate. I am not sure what debate you were watching. Even a stated anti-Romney guy, Dick Morris, said with panel that Romney won the debate. You also mentioned something about to negative. Again, not sure what you were watching, McCain of all the panel was the one with personal or negative talk. Especially when his Immigration record was broken down. If you wish to support Huckabee that’s fine, but please state so and save us from trying to appear non-bias. After tonights report, perhaps you can just wear a Huckabee supporter shirt next time??
Thanks
Steve
I am glad that you have linked Huckabee’s success to more than just the “Christian vote”. His message resounds with many types of people, not just to the far-right conservatives. I am a Christian, but that does not limit my concerns to religious and social topics. I am disappointed that the religious voters have been so narrowly stereotyped as “one-issue” voters. The Fair-Tax is not at all a religious issue, and I am excited about the idea of replacing the IRS with it. Gov. Huckabee’s 9-point outline for the resolution of the illegal immigrant problem is the best I’ve seen – actually, I haven’t seen too many other proposals so clearly defined from the other candidates. I hope that the voters will do their homework, research the candidates, and vote for the one who gives our country the brightest hope for the coming years. Hint – Mike Huckabee!!!
I used to watch Fox for all my news, but I no longer watch them since they started their coverage for the 2008 Presidential Election. I am sick and tired of knowing what Carl Cameron is going to say about Mitt Romney before it ever comes out of his mouth. All day today, Saturday, Carl has been talking about McCain’s surge and cozying up to Huckabee in ALL of his reporting. Every word about Mitt Romney is negative in regards to his campaign spending to flip flops. Thank goodness he has moved on from his religion. I find it intersting that they can’t find anything substantive to talk about that he has done in his life that is corrupt or unethical like Huckabee as Governor of Arkansas. I find myself watching CNN to get honest reporting if you can believe that and ABC Evening News and C-Span to find out any coverage on Mitt that is positive. So don’t limit yourself to Carl’s reporting which is very biased toward McCain and Huckabee. McCain is part of the problem in Washington–part of the good old boy network who all look out for each other and not for the American people. Huckabee is just a plain old RINO and liberal at that. I am voting for Mitt Romney who has actually been successful in life, running and starting businessess, turning around companies and the Olympics, being a successful Governor. He is just what Washington needs–fresh eyes, fresh ears and the desire to effect REAL CHANGE!
Carl, your anti-Romney coverage made me check my tv channel; for a minute I thought I’d messed up and landed on CBS. 30 seconds before you declared Romney the big loser in tonight’s NH debate, long-time camgain analyst, Dick Morris, who holds, much more political expertise than you, was on ahead of you proclaiming Romney the winner. You inaccurately reported the number of WY delegates Mitt gained.
Mike Huckabee didn’t appear very Christian to me when he questioned Mormonism. There was no tolerance in his sneaky approach and the attack ad that wasn’t an ad…well that was dirty. You were one of the few fools in the media that fell for it. Now that your support of Huckabee is obvious, it’s clear that it was self-serving. I’m betting you’ve allowed your own personal Evangelical, anti-Mormonism views to cloud your professional ethics. I’m switching off FOX when your campaign coverage comes on.
By the way, I’m from Iowa and I’m here to tell everyone that our caucus was a JOKE! I’ve seen high school student senate and homecoming elections run with better vote counting protocol. We wrote names on a piece of paper and handed them in—didn’t even put them into a secure box. Votes were counted in my precinct by volunteers, most of whom were there supporting a specific candidate, and yet, they were permitted to count votes! The first two counts were inaccurate and several of us hadn’t asked for a third recount, I doubt it would have happened. Who know how shoddy it’s handled across the state, but those of you who have stated that Iowa and NH shouldn’t have the power to make or break campaigns are right!!!!
Carl Cameron is not a political analyst. He is a political propagandist. He does not present a “Fair and Balanced” approach to presenting the candidates.
It is obvious that Cameron is drunk on the Huckabee kool-aid. Cameron pushes Huckabee at every opportunity. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Huckabee appoint Cameron to the presidential cabinet should Huckabee win the White House.
Cameron has made a point of knocking Romney at every turn. He repeats himself on his Anti-Romney points 2, 3, 4 times. Even when has something positive to say about Romney he quickly follows it with a negative point.
Cameron evokes the memory of the “Fair and Balanced” reporting of Dan Rather. If Fox were really interested in “Fair and Balanced” political analysis they would replace Cameron. Cameron, like Dan Rather, should be FIRED for obvious bias.
I am so mad at carl, I heard his interview with huckabee, and you would have thought he was working for his campaign, he went on and on about all of them attacking him, why did he not also bring up that they did that because they need him out so they can go on, that is why they were going after him, huckabee needs for romney to be out for him to go up, and why is it that because romney has a lot of money that he made through his lifetime that that is bad, it is not his fault that he can outspend them, believe me if huckabee had it he would be using it to, but hearing that carl is from new hampshire , now I know why sometimes he sounds liberal. now come on carl, romney also said a lot of good things, he sure was able to answer to anything that was thrown at him, I do not see that he did bad at all. I still do not know who I am going to support, but sure not huckabee, he has a bad record in arkansas and I do not trust him.
Mike Huckabee is America’s greatest hope for President. If you want a President who stands for faith, family values, limited government, fair taxes, support of small business’, support of military, solution for health care, mixed in with honesty and integrity then Mike is the person for President. If anyone has any questions on how Mike stands on the issues please visit his web site at http://www.mikehuckabee.com.
In regards to some of the comments about Mike being a bigot as well as those of us who are Christians it should be noted that our Lord Jesus Christ said “The two greatest commandments are Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and the second commandment is like the first, Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt 22:37-39). The Lord also said in Matt 7:11-12 “Do unto others as you would do unto you. This is the law and the prophets”. Our Lord commands us to love others and our greatest goal is to glorify our Lord through our actions. Mike exemplifies these ways most notably when he opened the doors of a long time white congregation in Arkansas and quickly welcomed all races to the church he was pastoring. Mike will bring all together and revive America.
Dear Carl,
Lets be honest and rename you “Huckabee’s Campaign Carl”. To listen to you fawn all over the Huckster was embarassing as a fan of Fox News. The only thing missing was the “I Like Mike” pin on your lapel. Secondly, what the heck exactly did Mitt do to you or your family to cause you to be such a Romney hater. Man do you hate that dude. Bit of advise Carl, don’t play poker any time soon. You’d lose your shirt. I’ve never seen a t.v. guy so transparent when trying to be “objective”. It’s sadly laughable. You are more suited for “Entertainment Tonight”. At least there you could be your natural goofball self and no one would care. Politics are serious and Carl does nothing to make people take Fox serious as a place to go to help figure out who to vote for as our nations next President. Next I expect to see Cartoon Carl up on stage rockin’ with Huckleberries after their next rally.
Why is it Huckabee and McCain are joining together to go after Mitt Romney?
Maybe it is because they cannot take him on their own in the long run!?
Carl, why is it that Dick said, “Romney won the debate”, but, when you where sitting with Huckabee you acted like Huckabee won, and Romney did so poorly since all the candidates were taking personnel shots at him?
Why have you not brought up that Romney won in Wyoming?
I live in the South and I am Mormon. I have been exposed to preachers like Mike Huckabee all my life. They preach this kind of anti Mormon hatred and intolerance from their pulpit. They teach this to their children and while the Mormons are getting it now, I went into a large Baptist Church and saw in the foyer of this large beautiful building a bulletin board with the words Mormon and Catholic on it with a circle and slash through it. This is commonplace with the very die hard Southern Baptist. Not all of them of course, but many, many preachers engage in this. The sad part is I have been in attendance in their churches when they engage in this against not only Mormons, but especially Jews, Mormons and Catholics and they are not even telling truths. They tell what they want you to think about the other religions. They tell complete lies and get away with it. It is a horrible intolerance that they have gotten away with and you better believe Mike Huckabee is knee deep in it. Ask him if he was the key note speaker at a Southern Baptist Convention in Salt Lake City, UT where he delivered a horrible anti Mormon speech filled with intolerance and hatred.
We don’t need an narrow minded President. He will have to successfully compromise and negotiate
with people from across the world from many different cultures and religions. If Mike Huckabee acts like this with a Mormon running for President, can you imagine him in a meeting with the leader of Iran?
Fox news and Carl are in love with Huckabee. Harldy any mention of Romneys win in Myoming. Romney is polling well ahead of Huckabee and staying that way and yet Fox says Huckabee is surging. When MItt came back from 22 points down in IA against the evangelical supporters of HUckabee no mention of the word surge. Huckabees ethical violations as governer of Ak, his clemancy record, and his stance on illegals scare me. his fiscal record absolutely terrifies me. IF Slick Huck wins the republican nomination it will be because of southern evangelical religous bigotry. I will then vote for Hillary becaue she is a better democratic choice than Huckabee and we will have essentially two dems running.
I’m from Iowa and I would like to explain the “shots” taken at Romney in last nights debate. After being bombarded by Romney’s negative campaign ads here against Huckabee and McCain, I was ecstatic to hear that Huckabee and McCain turned things right back on that slime!! Romney ran a very negative and nasty campaign here in Iowa. He deserved everything they threw at him last night!! Why did Romney run such a negative campaign here? Because he went after those he feared! It’s not Huckabee and McCain fearing Romney. It was definitely the other way around. Romney even admitted that he ran the ads so hard against Huckabee because he was dropping in the polls and wanted to take Huckabee down! No sympathy for Romney here!!
Also, I went to the Caucus. It was more than just evangelical Christians voting for Huckabee. At my precinct, we had 180 people. 105 voted for Huckabee. Young, old, Christian, Independents….It was a mixture of people. They media protrays Huckabee’s sole support as Evangelicals. But, I saw first hand that his support goes beyond the Christian base. As for Romney being a Mormon, it really wasn’t a factor. In my own personal discussions of the candidates, Romney’s Mormonism was never discussed. Thus, that too is media generated nonsense. I see a lot of people posting on blogs and trying to say otherwise. But, it’s simply not true. Many Iowans cared less whether he was Mormon or not. It was his negative campaigning that hurt him in the end. trueRomney.com also shed some light on Romney’s past and present politics.
Carl, whats your beef against Romney. Is it just because his adds tll the truth about McCain&Huckabee. Seeing-clips from yesterdays debate, It was McCain&Huckabee who were acting like spoiled little kids just because he has made a good living for his family and telling the truth about McCain &Huckabee stand on important issues
The reason Mike won Iowa is not that he is a person of faith; it is that many people have lost faith! They have lost faith in President Bush, but can’t bring themselves to ever vote for a democrat. Mike is speaking to the blue collar republicans that want a tax overhaul, and not just a tax cut. I voted for Bush twice, but I think we are beginning to see a change in the party. They want a person who thinks outside the box, and the Fair Tax does that. Now, many people have commented that it was an anti-mormon vote, but I do not believe that for a minute. It is mainly that people see Mitt Romney as an empty suit, with no message. They see Mike as the factory worker that went up against the investment banker, and that is resonating throughout the country. I do not expect everyone to support Mike Huckabee, but if you think the hard line status quo message is going to win this year. Then you are sadly mistaken. I grew up in a small town in Virginia, which used to be a solid red state. That is not the case anymore. If we as the Republican Party do not become the party of innovative ideas, then we are destined to lose in November.
I encourage everyone to look at FairTax.org, regardless of the candidate you are supporting. It is the tax plan that helps the middle class, but also unlocks the American Entrepreneurial Spirit.
All this talk of Obama’s big Win is farcial..WHAT I TOOK TIME TO CHECK WAS “WHO CAN VOTE IN THE IOWA CAUCUS?”/// I found out that the Republicans have Voting Lists and you must check in and put your name down to be counted….DEMOCRATS DO NOT CHECK TO SEE IF ONE IS ACTUALLY EITHER A LEGAL RESIDENT OR A LEGAL VOTER OF IOWA. SO IMPORTED CAUCUS GOERS ARE BROUGHT IN FROM ALL AROUND. NO ONE MENTIONS THAT FACT…AND IF WE LOOK AT THE GOP VOTERS..THEY GOT A LARGE REPUBLICAN TURNOUT, MORE INDEPENDENTS AND DEMOCRATS..ALL LEGAL VOTERS. THE DEMOCRATS JUST GOT MORE ILLEGALS…TO VOTE OR BETTER SAID “RAISE THEIR HANDS” AT THEIR CAUCUS… Now it is New Hampshires turn…and once again Republicans will Legally Vote..and Dems will bring the gangs of Students from UMass, et c to claim they are MOVING to NH. to cast their Votes. What a Silly method…in Switzerland and yes, even France…if you want to vote you must PROVE you are a citizen and even if you move to the building next door..YOU MUST GO AND RE REGISTER…WEEKS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS..Even in the case of absentee ballots they have a security system that PREVENTS people from defrauding … Too bad Americans do not CARE about that point!
Romney’s the man! I respect McCain as a POW, but he is part of the Gang of 14, remember McCain/Feingold?, defected with Ted Kennedy on education, plus disapproved of Bush’s tax cuts. As far as Wannabee, Hickabee…look at his foul liberal Carteresque record as governor (Arkansas is still at the bottom on every statistic nationwide since his reign…raised taxes, very weak). After Bhutto’s assassination, he did not even know that there had been a cease-fire 2 weeks prior, plus he NEVER answers a question directly, he is SARCASTIC & EXTREMELY unpresidential. Remember last week,”I’m not going to show this commercial”, but yet he did show it to the press ?! This shows what a CONNiving sneak he really is. Anyone who hides behind the Bible & behaves this way is dangerous & offensive. Who cares if he can play the bass guitar, I’m not looking for a jazz playing president from Arkansas, we’ve done that already!
Carl, please do your homework…compare Romney’s record to any of the candidates, particularly Huckabee’s pitiful one. That’s why Mitt’s the man!
I’ve spent Friday and Saturday watching Foxnews. All those reporting seem to be Anti-Romney, what happened to “fair and balanced”? It was Fox that put out Huckabee’s commercial, it is Fox along with Carl, who are following Huckabee around like ducks, giving him all the “free” coverage so he doesn’t have to pay for it.
Carl why would you even write, “Mitt Romney who he has already cast as too rich to be able to connect with average folks?” Mitt Romney like everyone else has the right to financial success. Everyone should live off of the system? Why didn’t you add that Romney wouldn’t take the salary while in the White House, unlike Huckabee? Why?
Shame on you Carl! You must be Baptist!!
It this channel refuses to be fair and balanced, I’m leaving!!!!
Since the last Presidential race in 2004 I have been asking politicians one question:
“What have you done to support Men’s or Father’s Rights in America?”
Without fail, everyone of them has dodged or minimized the question. John McCain actually said “That’s a State issue, not a Federal one.” despite the fact that the U.S. Congress passed a felony statute five years ago for anyone more than $10,000 behind in child support.
To the best of my knowledge there isn’t a state in the country that requires support payments to be spent on the child and in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire there is case law where a man has been court ordered to provide up to 160% of their GROSS income for as little as one child. New Hampshire also has case law in which a father who was current with support (and earned one third as much as his ex-wife) was ordered to pay $20,000 “retroactively” because his “wife needed more money”. By actual Court Order, that made the man subject to a felony charge the moment it was issued!
There is a gender war in America and New Hampshire has long been one of the most brutal battle grounds. This is the perfect place to move forward with gender issues. Hillary Clinton opened that Pandora’s Box months ago with her college speeches in Massachusetts. The hand writing is on the wall with so many people backing her simply because she is a woman.
Men feel like their role in our country gets further diminished with each passing day. Addressing this is part of strong leadership for any candidate.
Carl. If you can’t get the job done on the road, maybe you could at least push to have a question on tonight’s debate. Softball season is over
Bob
Carl
Enjoy all your coverage. You and your crew work do a great job.
Do not like Huckabee’s campaign manager or the way he treated Chris Wallace in Iowa.
I have read each and every one of these posts. I feel that only some of you are really getting the point. In my opinion most of the evangelical voters out there are voting Huckabee just because he is a Baptist Minister. Now on the surface this seems like a good idea. He holds all their Christian values. Yet there is another and only one other candidate that also holds their Christian values and he hold better values in ALL the other area’s as well. Yes, Huckabee is likeable and can talk very well but will his policies be the best for this nation? I encourage everyone to get involved and really look deeply into each candidates records and policy proposals. Ask, Do they line up with God’s princibles, do they line up with the consitution and how the founding fathers wanted this country to be run, and do they line up with the conviction God has placed in your Heart? Yes I am an Evangelical Christian and I have chosen to support Fred Thompson due to These Points. He holds all my Christian values and my Consitutional ones as well. He is the most honest, trust worthy, and has been the same yesturday-today-& always. “What you see is what you get”. A big change from regular politicians. See My Blog for more details, Thanks and many Blessings, Shane
As always Thanks For Being Involved

Carl-
Why don’t you report and Ill decide.
Who pays your salary? Fox is clearly getting ripped off because Huck ought to be paying for your propaganda.
Fox should pay someone to report about the GOP- not create opinion.
When I see you come on TV I change the channel because I know what you are about to say. You are falling right in line with all of the follies of ABC, NBC and CBS.
It’s very obvious that the FOX Sr. Mgmt. is exclusively supporting McCain and devastating Romney at every turn. We have been extremely loyal Fox New Channel viewers and are highly disappointed at this approach. As you very well know, most Republicans watch FOX News over CNN for their “supposed” fairness, at least as from a Republicans viewpoint. But now, you’ve become totally transparent in your single support for McCain. We actually had not picked a candidate, but your obvious fear of Romney has actually moved us toward Romney and away from FOX.
Did Roger Ailes forget about KEATING/McCain incident, post tramatic stress disorder (the Democrats and Media pulled out in 2000 when it appeared that McCain may be the nominee)? From our opinion, you may regret devastating Mitt Romney. Romney is the only candidate that can stop the Clinton/Obama train, unless management of FOX News Corp., due to SEC and FCC rules and congressional oversight, would rather see a Democrat in office.
What happened to FOX and it’s past unbiased reporting — may as well tune in to CNN, at least I understand their bias.

I’m not a Ron Paul fan, but it appears Fox News is trying to exercise undue influence on the political process by excluding him from tonight’s debate. Whatever happened to “We report, you decide”?
First- shame on SC for wanting Fred Thompson to drop out! And shame on Fox for not allowing Ron Paul at the debate.
Mitt Romney appears very presidental. Mike Huckabee is more in touch with middle class America. John McCain is old school Republican- no thanks. Fred Thompson makes sense. Rudy is a Reagan wanna-be. Ron Paul is too idealistic.
I think I will NOT vote for McCain just because the MSM keeps pushing for him to be the nominee.
Ron Paul is going to have his own “townhall” tonight 5PM eastern at:
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/snippets/127/manchester-townhall/
Give a look at a real man of change.
What’s a conservative to do?Here are our choices-Mike Slickabee-soft on criminals, never met a tax he didn’t like, and wanted to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens;Rudy Ethically Challenged Giuliani-Sanctuary New York City on his watch, pro abortion, and rivals the Clintons in the sleaze arena;John Maverick McCain-Amnesty bill, likes Liberal Democratic Senators better than his own party, soft on tax cuts and terrorist inerrogation techniques;Ron Anarchist Paul-the Founding Fathers turn over every time he mentions the word Constitution, never met an enemy he didn’t like,or a drug he didn’t want to legalize;Fred Thompson-ready to quit the day after he entered the race because they couldn’t find a big enough plate on which to hand him the nomination;Mitt Romney-hey he got elected in Massachusetts where there are roughly 12 conservatives-if liberals voted for him can we?That leaves us Duncan Hunter-none of the above criticisms apply, solid Mr. Conservative,I could actually vote for this guy without holding my nose-whoops too late Fox News has declard him irrelevant.Guess I will stick to my principles and sit this one out!
Wow,
Reading some of these are quite interesting. Mr. Huckabee makes it clear where and what he stands for. Mr. Romney? I am still trying to figure out if he is genuine or a phony. The truth is, everyone gets their positions from somewhere.
Time will tell and reveal all,

** BUZZ ON THE STREET** FOX NEWS DEBATE. HAS ROGER AILES, HEAD OF FOX NEWS AND FORMER CAMPIAGN DIRECTOR FOR RUDY GIULIANI, TOLD MIKE WALLACE AND HUME TO GO FOR MITT ROMNEY’S THROAT TONIGHT?
I hope this isn’t true. I would really like to see a debate tonight that is independent of Fox News trying to stir the pot. Brit Hume appeared to be taking it to Romney earlier on the pre-debate show. News agencies need to be independent and report the news, not push it in the direction they would like to see it go.
Carl-
You report WE’LL decide.
You have stepped out of the Huck war machine-
Fox, please find someone who will report to us the events of the campaign and not prop up one particular candidate.
By the way to those of you who did not see the debate last night find it on the internet and WATCH THE DEBATE YOURSELF……..then decide.
Carl, I almost stopped reading your things until I saw your video interview with Huckabee. It was refreshing to see you let him speak even though in the past I have thought of you as very cynical. I hope the rest of the nation will really take a second look at Huckabee beyond the headlines right or left. I get a little more faith in the media when the interviewer lets the interviewee answer the question in full as you did in the post debate video. Huckabee is definitely my choice. McCain and Thompson are solid but they really need life support. It is hard to watch them but it is also sad. Their heyday is over. Thanks again Carl from all of us that do not get to see what happens in the spin room and probably are glad of it since spin bagats (Archaic) more spin. I am still trying to get use to your style but I am struggling. I am sure you mean well.
Thank you Mike Ford for the link, that is a major wakeup call.

Good post and hopefully everyone can see the real facts in one place. Please check it out.
Huckabee says we should not punish illegals children for what there parents did , But it punishes Americans Children, so which side is he on, Illegals Not american.
I am watching Chris Wallace on Fox now. He and McCain stand by Illegals, Not american, Huckabee was asked a simple Question several times which he refuses to answer , If I was ever for Huckabee or Mccain i am not now and if either get the nomination I will write in a candidate.
Go Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, and Fox was Wrong for not having Duncan Hunter as well
My husband and I just agreed after Fox’s debate tonight, that if McCain gets picked for the general election, he will pick Huckabee as VP. And because of McCain’s arrogance, he will force both my husband and I to vote for either Obama or Hillary.
Did anyone notice all the compliments between McCain and Huckabee? My and husband and I believe it was planned between them.
Lillian did you read into Huckabee’s response about the pardons? He pardoned over 1000 people and he gave a story about a lady writing a bad check and at 35, she couldn’t get a job, so she needed a pardon for crime. Is Huckabee saying that ALL these 1000 pardons were bad check writing, single parents who couldn’t get jobs?
OH PPPPPLLLLLEEEAAASSSSEEE…..
Huckabee is nothing more than a spinning story teller, who can’t answer questions.
I have to admit that the polling #’s the day after Saturday nights Republican debate in New Hampshire were surprising and baffling to me. I could not believe that McCain and Romney came way ahead in the numbers over Huckabee. In that debate Romney and McCain came off argumentative, childish, and succumbing to personal jabs at each other. McCain seemed weak in his views and “wishy-washy,” very much flip-flopping back and forth on things. Romney and others had backed him into a corner on comments he previously made throughout his campaign that he claimed he didn’t, and he dealt with it badly, by not fully answering his debaters, but by changing his tone to other issues. (Not very confident or competent) in my opinion. Huckabee on the other hand appeared genuinely prepared and sincere in his rebuttals, ideas, and answers regarding the issues. When he speaks, you have know you are witnessing simply, “a real and decent and honest man.” I did not get that from the other candidates in that debate, and apparently the people from Ultra Liberal and “Wishy Washy” state of New Hampshire did not either.
GO Mitt GO!
Hey Huck you self rightous religious bigot. You’re self proclaimed man of God and you have no tolerance for anybody that’s liberal. You say pro-chioce kills our children but what about you’re decision to turn loose CONVICTED murderers an rapist to later committ the same offense. My decision as a liberal never killed anyone b/c you know this country would never overturn ROE V WADE. I wish i ccould say the same about you’re decision. Why don’t you go back to being paid to teach Gods word. If that’s not idolatry i don’t know what is. I don’t think you’re fit to be president b/c you can’t even protect you’re own state by being a safehaven for criminals and illegals. Viva Hillary
Kristian,
I’ve read your Post,as to why we should vote for Romney, and the Myths, that you suggest are in place about what the Mormon believes…with all due respect I think that,if you are going to go to such depth to explain these things, that it would only be fair,if we would mention some of the things you forgot to mention
1.teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith.pp348-49..says that the universe is governed by a head God,and His counsil…In the beginning the head of Gods called a council of the Gods, and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and the people in it.
That is Myth #1..Isaiah 42:5explains that God is defined as “God The Lord”ad He created the heavens and the earth…in 45:12 that same God I have made the earth and created men upn it…..No mention of other Gods,or a council
2.Bruce R. McConkie,Apostle,Mormon Doctrine,P 516…states that God has Goddess wives,suggesting that there is a mother in Heaven…Thats myth #2
I refer you to Matthew 22:29,30….there is absolutely no references in te Bible of God having a wife or wives
3.James E talmage articles of faith p 43…states:God is limited to a Physical Body(doctrine and Covenants 130:22),suggesting that God is a form that cannot occupy more than one space at a time..I refer you to 2Chronicles 6:18,Psalm 139:4-8,and Jeremiah 23:24 There is but one true God,ny other God is a false God
Milton R Hunter, first council of seventy, the Gospel through the ages pg 15…states,that Jesus and Satan are brothers……I reference you toJohn 1:1-14,Isaiah 14:12,Colossians 1:15-20…He is theSon of God and has no brothers
Let me stop here ,and say that my intention is not to be argumentive, nor is my intent to embarrass you…you gave your side of what you believe,I,on the other hand am just trying to point out the things that you decided not to,so that people know that there is more than what you describe. I’ve heard it said that Mitts ads were of a comparative nature, and so are mine….there are a number of myths here, from where I stand also…
My suggestion, would be for everybody to check these things out for themselves….I’ll close,by suggesting that the last Chapter of the Book of Revelation is the end of the Canon of scripture and that it states in this chapter that certain things will happen if words are added or subtracted,so I as well would hope that this comment would shed some light on this perspective, that might mean something to you if you are a Christian….God Bless
Mr Wang,
Without a doubt, what you’ve said is the common sense approach….we don’t need these super rich guys in office that hire illegals and then question the other candidates on their stand about Illegal immagration…..more flip flopping and half truths….The common folk don’t stand a chance with Romney,he’s too rich to realize their needs…The fees He imposed in Mass. that He says only affected a few is a good example of that, the fees were on drivers liscenses and inspections…..they must not have many cars in Mass. or something…..sounds like another half truth to me…..Most of the Huckabee tax hikes were either voted on by the people or imposed by a Judge.
