Michigan or BUST for Mitt
by Carl Cameron
He wins and goes on. He loses…and goes on? Could be, but bet nothing. Will the former Massachusetts Governor find that the Wolverine state -where he was born- is his Bunker Hill?

It is not a do or die for romney. I hope he wins. But if he comes to a close second(1-3 points) under he is still a winner in delegates. As far as i know mccain has 7 and romney with 30. But out of all the states thus far michigain is his best shot!
Go mitt.
Michigian Give romney a chance!!! Happy voting
Carl,
I don’t trust any polls, the only poll that counts is Tuesday’s poll. Even then with the Dem’s primary meaning absolutely nothing with no delegates at stake. Lord only knows what can happen by the Dem’s crossing over to do affect Rep. race.
I sure hope Romney wins it, and stays in race even if he loses. At least until Super Tuesday.
Also wanted to point out that McCain had a town hall meeting today in Warren, Michigan. What was very odd, is a woman asked him a question about the foreclosure mess with the banks and what does he think happened that this problem was not foresaw. Well the funny thing was that he did not answer the question, he directed the question to former HP President sitting there near him.
What does this say to me? That McCain is clueless to the economy, which kind of scares me! He was very uncomfortable with every economy question, and kept trying to change conversation toward Iraq.
Romney is on top of every economy issue, I sure hope this man get an opportunity.
What an absurd statement! Even if Mitt loses MI he isn’t out of the running at all. Just report on the issues and the candidates Carl. I’d rather hear about what they’re talking about rather than your speculation of who’s dropping out and when.
Mccain doesn’t appear to know much about the economy. I was amazed to hear him say during the SC debates that the economy was doing fine. Does he even follow economic news. Does he know that Bernanke and the FED are anticipating huge rate cuts to help bail out the economy and that a recession is very possible? I wish he had more depth to him but when you look at his record, he’s not on the conservative side of many issues. Other than “I’ll veto pork barrell bills”, “I recommended the surge”, “They call me the Sheriff” or “It’s not amnesty”, I don’t hear much substance from him.
Romney understands the economy and can solve tough problems. He’s conservative and understands that Washington should be working for America. He’ll will win MI and we’ll stop hearing how the leading Republican delegate and vote getter is on his way out of the race.
Go Romney!
ROMNEY LEAPS AHEAD OF MCCAIN BY 8 POINTS IN NEW POLL!!!
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0108/7861.html
Lets not forget ROMNEY WON WYOMING BY 67%. He has also won more votes than any candide up to this point and is ahead in the total delagate count.
A full spectrm conservative may wn this thing yet!!! Romney/Thompson 08!!!
Thanks Carl for polls that are starting to look more honest…but I’ve never believed in polls or Horoscopes and never will…they tend to be self-fulfilling prophecies when people do. The Dems in NH showed everyone what happens when people get emotional and have the guts to vote against the polls. Republicans can do that tooo…and it is about time. As for Busting down Romney…a few people may wish but it ain’t gonna happen. GO MITT!!
Let’s be honest, a win in a Michigan would be WONDERFUL for Romney. But even if he comes in second, he will most likely still be leading in number of delegates, so of course he will stay in the race. He has plenty of campaign money left and plenty of Americans who want him to be their president.
The hardest thing will be to combat the media pressure that will be crying for him to quit, and calling him dead and buried!
MICHIGAN–THIS NATION NEEDS YOU TO GET OUT THERE ON TUESDAY AND
VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY!!!
The only reason Romney must win Michigan, is to shut the media up about how every state is win or die for him!!!
(Why isn’t every state a win or die for McCain and Huckabee? All three men have won 1 state, even though the media ignored Romney’s win in Wyoming. Romney got 8 delegates from Wyoming, while McCain got 7 from NH, and yet somehow everyone is forgetting that fact).
It seems the polls are way off. The people in the street are talking heavily about Romney. He is an economic genius! The media sways in the way of McCain, can’t understand why. He is a hero…but…he isn’t on the side of republicans trying to stimulate the economy, stop illegal immigration, establish workable healthcare, decrease taxes and secure our safety. McCain is not educated on the economy, which is clear at his town meetings or the debates.
I certainly hope Romney wins..he is the only one we can trust to save this country from the same old politics.
Every one of Carl Cameron’s reports are negative towards Romney and positive towards McCain and Huckabee. Get a reporter that will not have a clearly visible bias that will share both the positives and negatives of the candidate. Carl Cameron cannot do it.
This is not do or die for Romney. Limbaugh and Hannity both are adamant saying it’s NOT do or die for Romney. MSNBC poll just out says that Romney is ahead by 9. Polls don’t tell everything and aren’t always reliable, but it is some good news.
I like Romney because he has experience of turning broken things around for the better. He’s not perfect, no one is, but he has a load of experience and results to show it. He made SLC the best and most profitable Olympics ever. SLC residents aren’t bothered with a debt that all Olympic cities have to deal with. The only thing that they have to deal with is where to stick the surplus of money.
Romney turned major corporations around, fixed many parts of MA with a Democratic legislature, is a strong family man, extremely sharp and knowledgeable with foreign matters, and has a plan for all of the major problems facing America. Romney may not have the Clintonesque charm displayed by Huckabee, but he is a personal, knowledgeable guy that can get the job done something the incumbents have adequately demonstrated they cannot do.
I sure hope Michigan gives Mitt the vote. McCain may be a war hero, but doesn’t make him qualified to run the nation. McCain is a CAREER POLITICIAN. Washington is the only thing he knows or has known for 30+ years.
Everyone has said over and over again in nationwide polls that the only thing WORSE than the President’s approval rating is the approval rating of our other elected officials in the House and Senate! Wake up Michigan, McCain is the very LAST person we want back in Washington and unfortunately for the rest of us in the nation, it’s largely up to you!
One more note: I’m a strong Christian and look for a man of faith and family values. The difference between Huckabee and Romney is Huckabee’s relentless efforts to suck up and cater to the Evangelicals every where he goes. He blatantly asks preacher after preacher to do him a favor by persuading their congregations to back him. Am I the only person that sees this as cheap, cheesey, and tacky?! You don’t see Romney asking his Mormon brothers for special favors. (In fact, the Mormon faith refuses to endorse any political candidate, even if he is a Mormon!)
Huckabee’s continued efforts to single out and court the Evangelicals will have a divisive effect on our nation by largely ignoring those of so many other great faiths. I’d be more likely to suport him if he didn’t focus so much on the Evangelical vote everywhere he went. Huckabee obviously missed a few lessons taught in the Bible.
Hopefully it’s bust. The only thing that I enjoy about Romney is hearing him bring up the Olympics. I’m always impressed with how he finds a way to correlate running the Olympics with every problem known to man.
Jesse, you don’t get it. Why saving the Olympics from financial dire straits is important is that is shows Romney knows how to turn fiscal problems around. This country needs that more that ever. Romney was not a one hit wonder he also turned MA economy around and implemented Universal Health care without breaking the bank. He has had similar sucess turning major corporations around. He has strong core values has vetoed stem cell research and is ardent family man. He wants secure borders and unlike McCain and Huckabee has not advocated special treatment for illegal immigrants.
Jesse, do you look at other candidates with the same myopia you view Romney? Do you use the same hyperbole to describe Huckabee or McCain?
Let me help you.
McCain: Every problem known to man can be solved because I supported the surge, my friend.
Huckabee: Every problem known to man can be solved because I can get one-issue evengelical voters to support me.
please…… MAC will win with a big magin.mitt was born there but left the state for over 4o yrs now and has done nothing to help it.ride on mac,the country needs ur leadership now, more than ever.we can always get economic genuises from walstreet but leadership is rare.u are unique mac.
In response to Jesse – What a ridiculous comment about ROMNEY’s Olympic experience. Taking on a $300 Million in-debt organization with a deadline, and turning it not only into one of the most successful Olympics ever, but turning it into a Profitable Olympics for the FIRST TIME EVER is a massive accomplishment. There isn’t one other candidate that has the ability or the knowledge to even begin an undertaking such as this.
Romney has rescued over 200 companies from Bankruptcy, saving thousands of jobs. Can any other candidate say he has accomplished this? NOT ONE.
McCain’s solution to the economy is to raise taxes. Look at his record, not what his campaign rhetoric is. Even now, he currently has legislation in the works with Lieberman to increase taxes on energy consumption. Can you imagine the detrimental affect this will have on business and our economy? American cannot protect itself with an ailing economy.
ROMNEY has the knowledge and experience in every aspect. He understands business, the job market, and the economy like no other. He has proven leadership in Government, the Private Business sector, and Non-Profit sector. He is the only one one with extensive executive experience.
Let’s all note how uninformed many of these voters are. It’s frightening.
Dear Michigan!
Please, vote for Romney.
We just love Mitt Romney!
1. Mitt Romney.
2. Mitt Romney.
3. Mitt Romney.
Like Thompson too, so Romney/Thompson ticket sounds so good!

Brad Lund, you are not alone! Of course I see it…
Also I’m LDS and never once has my Bishop nor any church official asked us to vote for Mitt Romney. I was originally voting for Giuliani until I found out he cheated on his wife. I was speaking with our congressman’s right-hand man (who I know) and he told about Romney. I did alot of research on him back in April 07 and found that I really liked him. I also found out he and I both worked for the same successful firm (Bain and Co.).
Carl,
I admire your talent … but I’ve come to seriously
question your judgement!
Being in the tank for the Huckster when you
preach fair-and-balanced is a huge disappointment!
Really Carl, turn on Mark Levin and get
educated about who this man really is!
Go Mitt!
I will tell you what I want to know Carl… just when is the republican party going to get behind a candidate? Giuliani is nearly bankrupt ( well, 7 million, but that will be gone after Florida), McCain and Huckabee both operating on a shoestring, and Romney funding his own campaign thus far to the tune of 8 million dollars already spent.
What, are we just handing the presidency over to the democrats?
Polls have been a poor prediction of the election so far. They certainly are useful to the media as they always create passionate responses and this translates into advertising revenue.
It is also widely believed that polls influence voters. People who are not fully committed to a candidate will be swayed by the popular opinion – the sheep affect. Although I doubt that anyone reading this column will be influenced to change their vote based upon the latest poll. And those polls conducted by FOX – you know the ones where the meter moves in real-time; well, this is a science experiment that is using so called ‘undecided’ voters. Give me a break, if these people are actually undecided the day before an election, they ought to stay home.
JESSE,
This is how McCain answers EVERY QUESTION: “My Friends…..yada, yada, yada…….When I led the LARGEST SQUADRON …..YADA, YADA, YADA…”
We don’t need a “SQUADRON LEADER” in Washington, we need a CEO to CLEAN-UP THE MESS.
McCAIN is OLD SCHOOL and STATUS QUO . Every DEADBEAT Senator/Congreeman in Washington is lining up with this guy. Like Romney says, ‘ITS THE SAME PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT CHAIRS”
GO MITT!
Hey Carl,
Perhaps, you can tell the rest of us just what is a conservative. I’ve been voting republican for 20 years, but I don’t even know what a republican is anymore. Isn’t Ron Paul the on;y conservative running in the republican party? I’m all ears.
http://uncutvideo.aol.com/videos/42a2046d4b9715f87613e2bd36757130
Lots of us have been saying this for weeks – It appears the media and the pollsters have been trying to drive the election.
Jesse,
I don’t think you fully understand what Romney had to deal with when he took over the Olympics. You don’t understand the different commitees, groups, organizations, politicians he had to deal with to accomplish anything. Many thought the Olympics were going to fail before they ever started and he turned it around to be the most profitable olympics EVER. It is kind of like dealing with congress. Working with people who have their own agendas and still prospering. Hmm, is that what you really want in your president?
ROMNEY IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR MICHIGAN AND THE NATION BECAUSE OF HIS ECONOMIC KNOW HOW, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND STRONG FAMILY VALUES.
I find Huckabee calling himself the Christian Candidate VERY ANNOYING. Every candidate is a CHRISTIAN. Every candidate believes in the Bible. Romney & Huckabee read the Bible absolutely, other candidates may read it more figuratively, but all agree it is the Word of God. I think Huckabee trying to keep the Christian name and Bible all for himself is VERY UNCHRISTLIKE! It’s selfish.
I just listened to the “so called” politcal pundants on Fox News who comment about why they don’t like Romney. They are so biased and prejudiced against him it is almost criminal. They say that Mitt does not know how to relate to the common person in Michigan. If that’s so, why is he leading in the polls in Michigan. Apparently he is relating to more people than they are willing to admit and especially better than McCain and Huckabee. If he does not relate to people, how did he come in a close second in Iowa and better than Hucabee in New Hampshire and win in Wyoming. Seems that the only way they will like Mitt is if he wins in every state–but the rest of the field can come in all over the place or not even enter the race in certain states and get a clean pass.
Leading the derogitory remarks are non other than Susan Estrich (a died-in-the-wool Democrat with a terribly squeeky, raspy voice that is almost as annoying as Hillary’s laugh). Of course she doesn’t want Romney running against Hillary. And John Kasick (who must be buddy-buddy with McCain from the senate) is rooting for Huckabee and proclaiming his great talent-he can play a guitar? Are they all ganging up on Romney because they are afraid that he just might win the nomination. Remember, Clinton could play an instrument too, and look where that got us. We need someone who has the talent to lead this country with knowledge, experience running a state, running real businesses and values. They say that when Mitt took charge of companies that were on the rocks that he might have laid off some of the workers. I don’t know if that is true or not, but even if it was, I think it is better to have a company that is viable and is still in business over the years than and company that has gone bankrupt (let’s see, how many people does a bankrupt company employ–duh…I think the answer is ZERO).
Romney has all the qualities to be a great president. And he is young, compared to McCain. He looks presidential. The press has been against him from the get-go. Get off his back. Let the voters decide on their own!
This Cameron person is a real blowhard..like most of Fox News’ “reporters”
Biased , and totally Un-American. You all belong in the America you are helping to create.
I hope Romney wins! Not that its a do or die for him, cause he can still go on if he comes close second, but because I want media hyperventilation about Mitt to stop! Media has been biased in reporting about number of total votes and number of delegates when it comes to Romney! Moreover, he is the only candidate (in both sides) who knows about economy and can be trusted to turn it around in positive direction! Thats what America needs now more than ever!
Go Mitt! All the best.
Just for a moment try to imagine McCain’s judge nominations, then give his possible cabinet members a thought … what a nightmare scenario!
Carl, I used to be a dedicated listener of yours, and my family and I are consistently tuned to Fox News as the one source of news versus tainted tripe available in the news market. However, your personal inability to stay neutral in the Republican Primary Season has become very annoying. What do you have against Mitt Romney, to the point that you hide his good news and dwell on the negative? That is the opposite of the way you handle McCain and Huckabee. It is as obvious as the nose on your face, has often been commented about on these boards, yet you persist undeterred. Romney’s leadership track record as an EXECUTIVE (yes, that is what we are electing here, not a squadron leader or preacher) is without peer in this election. What do you see that most of us don’t? You are not one of those closet “anti-Mormon” religious bigots, are you? Your treatment of the issue does beg the question, and a closer examination of your attitude and the underlying reasons for it is certainly something I and many others would like to see.
A few comments if I may:
1. Fox News Channel (FNC) should consider relooking their brand of “You Decide”. It seems FNC has already decided for us on who is and isn’t qualified for nomination.
2. Delegates? Why do I rarely hear about the delegate votes on the news?
3. Carl – Your approach on fair and balanced political reporting stinks. Time to move back to WZID.
4. I agree with most of the posts I’ve read. America needs a smart family devoted businessman – Mitt Romney is that man.
5. Romney has already stated he is in the race till the end – PERIOD. There are no worries of a lack of funds to continue. Why FNC and stations alike continue to portray this as Romney’s last chance is beyond me; especially being that HE IS IN THE LEAD!!!!!!!!!!
Carl-
If McCain doesn’t win MI, is he out? Why not?
If Huckabee doesn’t win MI, is he out? Why not?
They both have less money and fewer delegates.
Where’s the cries for them to get out?
Give us all a break, please.
Norma,
With all due respect, you’re statements about the candidates all being Christian,I have to question, just a little bit.I’m not merely saying this to disagree with you for the sake of arguement, but to point out a difference,in the one point you make, and then you can research it for your self and come to a conclusion as to whether what I’ve said is true or not….I’ve been reminded a number of times that “we shall know them by their fruits”,but there’s more to that…It also says that ,their fruits will bear their spirit,…having said that,Bruce R McConkie,Mormon Doctrine,PP. 82,83 state that the Bible is incomplete and has serious Translation errors.”Ignorant translators, careless transcribers,or designing and corrupt priests have committed errors, many main and precious things were deleted,in consequence of which error and falsehood poured into the various churches..One of the great heresies of modern Chrstiandom is the unfounded assumption that the Bible contains all of the inspired teachings now extant among men.” That is not the same Bible that is made up of the Septuagint of he Bible nor is it anywhere near a part of tha Canon of Scripture….(Lds Pophet,President Ezra Taft Benson) States that Prophets are above Scripture…”the living prophet is more vital than the standard works(Bible,Book of Mormon, etc) The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet…Those who would remove prophets from polotics would take God out o fGovernment…F.eb 26,1980….This sounds like a religion that can be changed for convenience sake at any time to me, and does not reflect your statement, because its apparant that theyre not using the same Bible and are not of the same beliefs….so are they all Christian,,,,,Not according to scripture….If you read the very end of Revelation,it says that nothing is to be added or subtracted….I don’t know what Church you attend, but either way what I’ve commented on comes out of Mormon literature
I continue to be disappointed with Governor Romeny.
I just finished watching a replay of Gov. Romeny’s speech at the Detroit Economic Club. He continues to mis-state the facts as well as his previous positions and those of others. As a focused, experienced executive searching for political credibility, I am afraid he is the one campaigning more like an insider than any of the other candidates. I also expected a focused marketing campaign from such an “accomplished” executive. Instead, after Obama’s success in Iowa, I heard, “I am the agent of change” from the Governor. And then after John Edwards “it’s personal for me” message in New Hampshire, I now hear the Governor say “Michigan is personal for me.” Someone please tell the Governor it didn’t work for Edwards.
CARL! Give it up!! You’ve been saying it’s do or die for Romney since Iowa. That’s just your wishful thinking. I would love to here your honest reasons for not liking Romney. It’s unfathomable to me.
I too am so tired of the media trying to write Romney off – he is intelligent and honest and wouldn’t that be refreshing in a leader for a change? I have supported Republicans since before I was even able to vote but I am so discouraged about what George Bush has done to both our country and the Republican Party. The only Republican candidate that might be able to restore integrity to the Republican Party is Mitt. Certainly not the old hack McCain or the fake Huckabee. If either Huckabee or McCain somehow dupe people to the point of getting the nomination, I am leaving the Republican Party to become an Independent. I’ve had it! So, I say “Go Mitt!”.
I follow American politics incessantly. Glad Mitt Romney won Michigan. Not only is he the Most Presidential in his demeaner, he is what we need globally for a leader. Yes it afffects all of us. This is the most dangerous time in modern history and we need not look at a candidate with puffed up medals (I do believe John Macain is a hero, but humbleness is not in his character), puffed up conservatism (eg; “I am the only true Ronald Reagan Conservative”), or ministerial champs of a little state, known for it’s history of corruption. (Especially when the Clinton’s were in power) We need a leader and the man is Romney. Democrats talk alot, hate alot, their Party is a Corporation..known only for their mean spirited bigotry and dirty tricks. they sabatoged the Iraq War by undermining a President while in Power and at war, dividing your own country while in power and accusing the President knowing their twisting the facts for political reasons. The world needs a leader, not some power hungry bimbo with a false resume. I swear the democrats are pathological. Barak Obama would never be tolerated by the angry old white men in Washington. I hope the American people realize their choice is the most important issue globally. We also have soldiers dying over their, threats in our own country. We do not need a democrat with a powerplay for this era. Clinton and their party affiliates need to take their toxic waste and disappear. The world is watching…..
