Winnowing the field.

In the old days there were three tickets out of Iowa, then NH cut the field to a pair and South Carolina came in to set final the trajectory.  Wait a minute. That is exactly what happened! Several lower tier candidates did drop out after Iowa and NH.  And  after coming in third in South Carolina Fred Thompson is now out and Huckabee is struggling to find states where he can afford to run with a reasonable chance of winning.

It’s funny how every 4 yrs some presidential candidates try to reinvent the wheel saying “this year is different than 4 or 8 yrs ago” try to skip the early states and then get run over by their new wheel.

Say what you will about the nations nominating process, but  it is unforgiving of candidates who think they don’t need to talk to voters early and often.

It just isn’t fair the imbalance in the cash that Huck has in comparison to the other candidates. Huck has barely spent anything in comparision to Mitt and McCain. It just shows who the real candidate SHOULD be. If Huck can run second with no money, imagine what he could do with Mitt or McCain type money.

We are now allowing the candidates to buy our votes.

I’d love to say I’m surprised…but I’m not. This would explain a lot, honestly.

McCain can’t have all his Democratic and Independent buddies vote for him in Florida. Add that to the fact that all polls indicate Fred and Huckabee supporters are flocking to Romney, and Giuliani and McCain are competing over 1-dimensional military voters, and it seems like Romney will come out victorious in Florida.

In your article you make claims that this election is just like all the others of years past. How did Iowa cut the field to three as you say? How did New Hampshire cut the field to two? How did South Carolina cut the field to one main contender? You’re a bumbling idiot. Having said that, I don’t expect to see this posting…

There is a solution to your charge of financial imbalance.. DONATE! That’s what the rest of us do for our candidates…. Geeze, I’m tired of Huck and his Brude crying because they don’t have any money…. NEWSFLASH! It takes MONEY to run for office, especially President f the United States….. So here’s what you do if you want to run…. get your financing in order, get spporters and committments, figure out how much of your own wealth you’re willing to spend or invest, decide how you’re going to spend it all before you decide to run….. Show me a candidate that starts cryng about lack of funds and I’ll show you a candidate that doesn’t have enough support….

Amazing… Iam sotred of Huckabee’s whiners gettig on TV and on the blogs to cry about lack of money…. Here’s a suggestion for you…. DONATE!!! Geeze. All of the rest of us donate to the candidates that we prefer and our candidates take that money along with other donations and add it to whatever money that they want to invest in their own candidacy and make some decisions on how they will spend it and on whether or not they should even run… NEWSFLASH!!! It takes money to run for President.

Show me a candidate that doesn’t have enough money and I’ll show you a candidate that doesn’t have enough support…. I have invested $1500 so far on my candidate, how aboutyou wekin1??

Stop your whining, Please.

Huck is in third place. Count the votes.

Carl, you forgot once again that there have been more than Iowa New Hampshire and South Carolina. I realize that is your storyline and you are sticking to it, but the delegates, voters and caucus goers in Michigan, Nevada and Wyoming are all Republicans and their representative delegates count towards the final tally.

Ron Paul got more than Rudy, McCain and Huck in Nevada (but Mitt got 51%). Mitt also ran away with 65% in Wyoming and a huge win in Michigan. Three state victories and more delegates than any other candidate. That looks like a run-away front runner, but Carl Cameron doesn’t talk about us out here in the West.

Classic East Coast bias trying to disenfranchise the voters.

The true conservative voters will decide who our candidate will be. We need Mitt Romney–take a look at the economy and the fiscal mess that we are in. Mitt Romney is the only candidate with the financial knowledge to run and win.

Fix it Mitt.

Mitt Romney is presidential.

If Huck had done more than take the widow’s mite and the lobbyists’ gifts, he might be a more viable candidate.

.First candidate quotes this and says Americans instead of Australians will get the most votes!!!

Quote: “IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.” “However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the

‘politically correct’ crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia .” “However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.” “This idea of Australia being a multi- cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.” “This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom” “We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!” “Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.” “We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.” “If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don’t like “A Fair Go”, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don’t care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. “This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.” “If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.

I think you’re wrong, Carl. This election can still shatter that paradigm. The early-going rebel states and state-skipping candidates, together, actually HAVE pulled off a shake-up this year. I hope it’s enough. I hope the momentum-making MEDIA will lose some of it’s winnowing power and the PEOPLE will win some of it back. I hope Rudy wins Florida just for that reason. I’m not a Rudy supporter, but the paradigm of the “good old days” MUST change. The “good old days” makes the majority of voters irrelevant in the winnowing process.

Some candidates earn hundreds of thousand a year and have 10 -20 million savings but keep their pocket zipped and let their supporters pay for their political ambition. These I call it manipulative and selfish for not willing to take the risk. Other candidate matches dollar to dollar any contribution given by his supporters and this I call it solidarity and unity. Wise up folks!

Comment by Mrs. Smart

If Huckabee and his supporters cannot organize a campaign to raise funds and encounter the enemy for the long haul, I don’t think you have the skills to run for President.

Your whining sounds like a Democrats cry for money from the government, not their own personal pockets…. Try to sound and look self-sufficient, we would have more respect for you.

In February 2005, The American Spectator observed of Romney, “He is pro-choice and, aside from the marriage debate, generally in agreement with gay-rights advocates.”
- American Spectator, 2/23/2005
In March, 2005, Boston’s leading homosexual newspaper, Bay Windows, told its readers that Romney’s pro-gay record belies his new-found “conservatism”:
“Governor Romney has been touring the country in the past few weeks, courting anti-gay right-wingers in South Carolina, Missouri, and Utah with speeches designed to show that he is firmly in their camp. Yet a look at Romney’s record shows that his Rick Santorum drag act is a relatively new phenomenon.”

I dsagree on this one big time. Romney won the debate hands down this last go around and the Democrats told the media that night that who they feared most is Romney becase he an outsider to Washington and can produce change. TheDemocrats want us to back McCain because McCain is one of them. He had Lieberman on stage with him in his town hall meeting in Florida. America
read between the lines . Are you going to promote the candidate they want? McCain is a friend to the Democrats not their fear.
Republicans unite before you have no voice in change at all.
Romney is the only on running hat can get the job done and get us out of debt.
McCain has lost all credibility. He is desperate and his campaign shows it.
