Mitt’s Moment
Polls show Mitt Romney could win the Florida Primary. John McCain is under attack, much as he was in 99 and 00. Rudy Giuliani’s slide appears to have halted – so far there is no sign of an uptick out of third.
The timing may be perfect for Romney. His business experience is proving a great asset with the economy dominating much of the contest. He is a tireless, disciplined, smart campaigner. His aides and strategists are top notch. His policies eare fully developed. His rhetoric is tight. His Florida campaign is centered in the triangle between Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa where they expect about 57% of the GOP votes to be.
Romney in so many ways has done it the old fashioned way. Any successful candidate in a competitive race for office is going to initially need three things; Message, Money and Organization. Check.
When running for president add; get to Iowa and New Hampshire early and often, have a reasonable claim to your party’s political base in the early states, don’t be the early front-runner, take some risks, survive a few bad patches with a comeback, have dumb luck, then time your peaks for when people are in voting booths. Check, Check, Check, Check.
Mitt could be having a moment. In the first polls after South Carolina Romney was ahead. McCain got the Palmetto state bounce and inched ahead. Rudy tanked. Fred bailed -which helped Huckabee, who according to Mason Dixon could beat Rudy for third.
Now republicans coast to coast are unleashing on McCain: wrong on the Bush tax cuts, amnesty, campaign finance reform. He collaborates too often, they say, with Ted Kennedy et al. And for years in the senate they say he has been an unreliable republican, largely disliked for angry outbursts and bullying.
Wait. Because McCain is highly respected by the public his rivals are loath to attack hard. Enter the anti-McCain forces. They range from Rudy and Romney boosters to the uncommitted. The only common denominator is they appear to detest McCain. DO NOT rule McCain out. Seniors and veterans and retirees LOVE HIM. There is still some South Carolina wind in his sails. It is a tossup.
Rudy is in trouble. At every event some supporter will tell me about being worried that he’s fading. Seniors, vets, and transplants, in South Florida like McCain and Romney too. Crowd members repeatedly note Rudy’s absence from the news for the last month and lament that he did not compete with others elsewhere.
All politics is local but not always a winner. Hizzoner’s support for a National Catastrophic Insurance fund is very popular but Floridians aren’t rubes. The land of recount injunctions and Supreme court appeals is not likely to miss so blatant a pander.
In short:
Governor Charlie Crist pushed a measure through the legislature aimed at lowering skyrocketing insurance costs in hurricane plagued Florida. Premiums may have stabilized but state taxpayers are now on the hook if the insurance companies can’t handle a future disaster. Crist now wants Washington to establish a $250 billion National Catastrophic Insurance fund that would ostensibly put taxpayers in all 50 states on the hook for Florida (and other states) should bailing out the insurance companies require catastrophic state tax hikes.
Rudy has signed on to it. Critics in Florida and elsewhere think its doomed as a big government risk guarantee for disaster insurance, funded by taxpayers in 50 states.
Giuliani has spent a lot of time around the I-4 corridor and his aides are talking up big crowds. That’s ironic since in big states like Florida crowd size is not really that relevant. Rally enthusiasm and attendance is a good yardstick in early retail states. Rudy did a bit of it in NH, but nothing compared to Mitt and McCain. The most stunning thing about Rudy’s support is that in Southern Florida (from Boca Raton to Miami Beach..affectionately known as the 6th buro of NY for all the Big Apple snowbirds and transplants) McCain leads by 10% in the Miami herald Poll.
Still Rudy is a respected and much loved hero. His staff is working triple time and they are crackerjack pro’s. Ever optimistic, doggedly loyal, disciplined message managers, they all hate to lose and are not familiar with it.
DO NOT BE shocked by a final Rudy surge before Tuesday.
As for Governor Romney; Michigan fine tuned his economic message and its clicking in Florida. He has run a text book air war. Several months ago he began with bio ads. They evolved into issue ads. Those turned to contrast ads. Then back to bio ads and now closing arguments. No other candidate came close to such a well run campaign. When the message needed to evolve, it did. When he lost in Iowa and New Hampshire adjustments followed.
Sure he has probably spent more than $30 million of his own money but since when is personal wealth (and spending it) a problem among republicans? Sure he has flip-flopped on key GOP issues in the last five years, but his bent has been decidedly rightward and his rivals have plenty of policy deviations from GOP orthodoxy of their own.
Anything can happen. The polls could be wrong. Romney could win Florida and tank February 5th. McCain could EASILY win Florida. Rudy could re-surge.
But if Romney pulls out a victory in Florida he will have arrived. His talking point will no longer be that he won Michigan and leads in delegates, it will be that for the first time there is a clear front-runner heading into February 5th, and he’s it.

Mitt is already the frontrunner in many people’s books. Can McCain really rely on a 3% victory in South Carolina over a Huckabee that was weakened by three other conservative candidates? (His victory in 2008 was poorer than his loss to Bush in 2000 in the same state.)
Even more disconcerting, McCain lost among New Hampshire Republicans. It was the liberals and independents who put him over the top. (Romney won the Republican vote.)
Mitt Romney is the concensus Reagan conservative. (Now that Fred is out of the race.) No one else can put together the strength of the economic conservatives, the social conservatives, and a strong national defense.
With conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh swearing never to vote for McCain under any circumstances, there is a true backlash against him going on from which he will not recover. (I have decided to vote Green Party if McCain is the nominee.)
Mitt ftw.
Mitt’s moment take 2:
I’m just coming across this “corner” for the first time and am a little confused; why are you writing in sentence fragments that sounds like a fifth grader wrote them? Can’t you make out complete thoughts, avoid cliches and not make random comments with no substance to back it up. I especially liked “Anything can happen.” Thank you for that incredible insight. “Mitt could be having a moment.” You really go out on a limb with that one.
I really don’t mean for this to be mean-spirited, I’m just honestly confused why you’re writing like a 5th grader. Apologies for sounding mean – don’t want it to come across as a personal attack, I just was hoping for a little more from a professional.
Also, I don’t expect you to actually post that since you wouldn’t want to put anything that’s at all critical so…I guess you can just take that as feedback and an area for development.
Watching the debate on MSNBC was amazing. There was clearly not a fair distribution of time and questions given to the various candidates. I was baffled by how obvious it was that the producers of the show did not want the viewers to take Ron Paul seriously. The post-show commentary did not mention him at all. Thankfully they did show the text-message vote results which had Mitt at 41%, Paul at 40%, and the rest at well below him. Given how obvious the propaganda was (”You Will Vote For Mitt; Paul Is Not To Be Taken Seriously”) I was surprised that they let us see the text-message results. Since it seems that the people are starting to wake up to Paul’s message, I’m waiting for the entrenched media’s strategy to change from ignoring him to ridiculing him.
Carl Cameron is naive and shockingly biased toward Romney, a truly lightweight toy candidates in the GOP race of wind-up midgets. I guess shallow toy journalists favor shallow toy candidates.
Carl, there you go … you now making sense again!
See all you needed was a nice Florida breeze!
Welcome back to reality!
Polls show Cameron may be out of a job after the election by 90%. Are you sir, employable? Cuz we know a Pulitzer is definitely not in your future.
“There is still some South Carolina wind in his sales.” Sales is about all this pitch is! Learn to spell, Fox.
Romney is the only full-spectrum conservative with a chance of winning the GOP nomination and uniting the party.
McCain’s an independent. Some Democratic leaders are on record saying he considered the vp spot on the Kerry ticket in 2004.
Huckabee and Giuliani would pull apart the Republican coalition from opposite ends, with Giuliani alienating social conservatives and Huckabee putting off economic and foreign policy conservatives.
At a time when voters yearn for competence, Romney offers proven executive skill, excelling in everything he has done in his professional life.
He is an exemplary family man and patriot whose character matches the high office he is seeking.
The only problem is Romney will lose the general election to Hillary, whereas McCain would probably beat Hillary…
I don’t want to be pedantic, but it’s “loath” not “loathe”
Mitt owned the debate tonight. He was cleaver, right n task and for the firsttime looked relaxed. I believe he will carry Fla. and then springboard to sweeping wins on super Tues.
To derail im now he’ll have to have a major ‘foot in the mouth’ moment.
Mitt Romney was prepared for this debate, his timing is perfect and clearly he is moving into the front runner position. The MSNBC commentators really hammered Mitt with the questions but he rolled with the punches. Rudy Giuliani’s ideas are sketchy at best and his choice of campaigning in Florida only looks to be a bad one. John McCain’s momentum winning in South Carolina, thanks to Fred Thompson has diminished. McCain carries baggage from his tax cuts, amnesty, etc.. the crowd against him is growing. What is ironic is the New York Times endorsing John McCain. The democratic machine is promoting McCain for the republican nomination. Why is that? Chances are he will lose running against Hillary Clinton in my opinion. Democrats would love to see McCain as the nominee.
Huckabee is eloquent an articulate with his answers but he is running out of money and I’m afraid that will not help him in Florida. It will take much more cash to make a dent in super Tuesday. Mitt Romney could be the front runner after next Tuesday. He is the cash cow. The Republicans may finally have a Candidate to rally behind soon enough.
Romney is a strong candidate-relatively. He has liabilities, but they are less than his rivals.
-McCain is noticeably old, and divorced his wife for a younger, better-connected, and wealthier woman. He is also bitterly opposed by the party core.
-Huckabie makes crazy foreign policy errors and has a son who tortured and hung a dog at summer camp, and then was recently caught with weapons in an airport.
-Giuliani’s sexual escapades and vengeful behavior as mayor make him a horrible general election candidate–not mentioning his feud with the NYFire Department, who believe his 9-11 actions left much to be desired.
-Ron Paul is not a serious candidate.
So, that leaves us with Romney. He’s changed his mind on abortion, but otherwise has been as consistently conservative as anybody else. He’s a Mormon, and that, sadly, effects is electability, but is not as serious a liability as McCain’s age, or any of the other candidates’ defects listed above.
And, on the merits, Romney would be the best President of them all. He’s actually made his name in the private sector as a turnaround artist, fixing corporations, etc. He’s exactly what we need in the Presidency.
Romney claims to have saved the Olympics in 2002, but with a $1.2 billion federal bailout, anybody could have saved the Olympics. Romney didn’t save the Olympics; the taxpayers did.
This article is mostly correct factually but it feels like it was written by a junior high school kid. The drama and sensationalism is so non-journalistic I had to check a couple times to make sure this was actually a fox new affiliate on top.
To recap, I do not disagree with anything you say, only how you say it. But to quote a great american “I may not agree with a word with you say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it”.
God bless america,
dan
Not even a mention of Ron Paul? Wow.
I’m not sure Romney could claim to be the front runner if he wins Florida. The republican field is too fragmented for Romney to score a decisive win. If the media spins Romney’s victory as a defining victory, he could get a lot of attention in the Feb. 5th states. But can you really count out Guliani in states like New York and California? He’s been running ads there for a while. And blue state republicans love McCain. I don’t we’ll have a clear winner after the dust settles on Tsunami Tuesday. I’d look out for a deal to be negotiated after Feb. 5th securing enough delegates (McCain and Huckabee?) or a brokered convention – that would be worth the wait.
I like Carl’s honest first hand reporting. You see so little balanced reporting in the media today. It is Mitt’s moment! He has the qualities to be president. With the economic worries of this week I Mitt’s business acumen has given him a big boost. There are some good men in the GOP race but Mitt is the true conservative and stands head and shoulders above the other candidates.
Romney has it together. He would be the most capable president we have had in a long long time. Why don’t we put someone intellegent and succesful in private business in Office. He can turn the economy around as well as everything else in the wasteful government.
ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!
WE NEED YOU!!!!!!!
I have to agree. I have been a McCain supporter during this campaign, but I have come to realize Romney is the best chance the party has of winning in November. I think your article is right on point in so many ways.
I’m a “reagan democrat” and the only Republican I would vote for would be Mitt Romney. Romney’s savvy and integrity sets him apart from all candidates in the field. His politics are that of the American people. He understands and humbly respects the American Constitution, and the American Dream of ALL Americans. He is not a sound-bite candidate, but a man with a plan. He is a man that understand the meaning of hard work. A God fearing man, who humbly respects the humanity in all of us, and earns the respect of all of us. Those who criticize him and scorn him are the ones who are blinded by their own limited greed for power. Romney is simply the best candidate out there. We should all know by now what the cost of listening to political propaganda is. Don’t let yourself be fooled by fear, hatemongering, and the powerful interest of certain groups. Hope is good, but waiting for a check in the mail is not what good government is. It is about all of us working together to raise our quality of life, for caring for our children, our elderly, and our sick. It is about a candidate who is passionate, compassionate, and has strength of heart. Mitt Romney is Presidential Material. In a field of many there is a President, and others who think they are. It is not enough to want to be President, you must have vision, intellect, charisma, honesty, and a sound social and more than a band-aid economic plan. Mitt Romney is the only Republican I would vote for.
I know it’s always possible, but Mitt won’t win Florida. I’ve lived here for almost 40 years and this isn’t a Mitt Romney state. He doesn’t belong to us. Floridians don’t want a Mitt for President. If Mitt does win The Republican primary The Republians are in deep trouble.
It’s not surprising that Romney could take Florida, but just like Team Romney, I wouldn’t count Guiliani or McCain out any time soon. Only Guiliani has been a straight-shooter when it comes to dealing with Mitt and his Mormon religion. Huckabee’s underhanded Anti-Mormon “questions,” are just slimy and just fail to be about any of the real issues that our country faces. McCain’s mother is a bigot plain and simple–put her in a white hood and robes and she’d be in her element. Does anybody really want someone like McCain or Huckabee who is so deeply ingrained in prejudices to lead our country? Let’s put an end to the hate that keeps us as a nation divided and repair our hurting economy, win the war on terror, and promote domestic peace and tranquility.
–The Kohutekcomet
I think Mike Huckabee is by far the most consistent conservative candidate. Just go to trueromney.com to find out how inconsistent Mitt Romney is.
McCain was lost when Ron Paul asked him a question on the economy. He obviously avoided trying to answer the question by defering to “close friends” and “allies” that are economists… he proved that the earlier statement he made concerning his lack of understanding the economy was accurate. Really poor performance from McCain.
Huckabee, always the country bumpkin, made a few Forrest Gump one liners that were cute… other than that, he had nothing. His comment that the tax rebates would be better spent on repairing highways and still provide sufficient stimulus to the economy were very telling… he doesn’t get it on the economy either.
Huckabee’s “Fair Tax” proposal is Unconstitutional and even if passed by Congress and signed by the President it would be declared as Unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, who would have no other choice on the matter.
Giuliani looked good. His answers were well thought out and well delivered. I thought it was one of Giuliani’s finest performances in the debates.
Romney really showed his stuff last night. He seperated himself from the pack and demonstrated the presence, leadership, and knowledge that has made him successful at nearly everything he has attempted.
Romney was on target, well spoken, literate, and hit the issues on the head.
In short… Romney looked and behaved like the President of the United States.
Ridiculous, ridiculous. So how does one choose between this wonderful (gag) group? Perhaps, we need to pay attention to the two breakins being reported at Mitt’s Boston office. There is such overwhelming love. Actually, Mitt took this debate hands down. McCain looked so scripted that if anyone interrupted, he would lose his place. Get ready, comedy central.
It seems that all Ron Paul supporters can’t see that a snowball has a better chance in hell, then he does. You are always complaining that they don’t take him seriously, but how can you. He does not get the time because it would be a waste. If he had at least 5% of the vote then maybe, just maybe. lol The voters DO NOT LIKE HIS SO CALLED MESSAGE. The polls show this clearly. Everyone has listen to the nonsense that comes out his mouth, and they’re not buying it. So no its not “FOX” IT’S THE NATION! So all your crying foul prompts these kinds of messages. Its getting late in the game. If people haven’t heard him by now, they aren’t going to!
John McCain should point out that the economic quagmire that we are now facing is due in large part to an unregulated banking industry. Deregulation is being driven by money flowing from the industries affected into the hands of congress. Campaign finance reform is the only way to decouple economic power from political power. John McCain has been working for this for many years. Mitt Romney is opposed to it because he is yet another “what’s good for big business is good for America” Republican in the GW Bush mold. McCain might also want to point out that as the founder of Bain Capital, Mr. Romney is in an exclusive club of the most mercenary capitalists on earth. As someone who works with venture capitalists, I can attest that they have no regard for whether breaking up companies affects those who work there or the society at large. The economc issue should be a negative for Mitt Romney.
In the rigged elections of the former Soviet controlled European nations any candidates running for office that weren’t favoured by the Soviets were totally ignored by the news media there. They use the same tactic here in the US in regards to Dr. Paul.
The media knows that ingoring a candidate is a very powerful tool because people rely and sometimes trusts the news media to be informed about the major candidates. I wish the average American was aware of this but sadly most are not critical thinkers and totally ignorant of history. When they do give Paul attention it is pretty often to smear him or portray him as unelectable. The racism charges are a good example. I bet you haven’t heard though that the NAACP’s Dallas chapter president actually came to Ron Paul’s defence. Only someone clueless would wonder why most of the media decided not to report on this.
Mitt is a business man like Bush was before elected as prez. So what do you think will change? He has already said how he wants to continue the same Bush path. So what would be different? You people talk about the economy but don’t realize that the most important/powerful person/entity in the US economy is the Fed chairman/Federal Reserve not the executive branch. Mitt is clearly a two faced panderer like Bush was. So what would change again? Hillary will win. Conservatives start your crying. Haahaa
Huck thinks the sun revolves around the earth.
Mitt will sell his mother to the highest bidder.
McCain is insane. Still thinks Nam could’ve been won and it was a good war.
Rudy did nothing on 911. Please tell me what he did besides running from downtown like everyone else.
Paul tells the truth. America doesn’t like that.
Obama will never get elected at least not for another 100 years. American’s are closet racists.
Hillary will win. It has been chosen. She represents the Elite.
The election will be Hillary vs. McCain and Hillary will win.
US is an oligarchy and your all just sheep.
Romney did so well last night in the Republican Debate. He has finally arrived. I was shocked to hear McCain say he won the Republican vote in both NH and SC. The last I heard was that Romney won the Republican vote in NH, and that Huck won the Repbulican vote in SC. The NYT endorsing McCain will only hurt McCain among Republicans.
I am glad that Romney is spending some of his own wealth. What a perfect combination, he has raised more money than all other Republicans, and he has put his own money where is mouth is! I thought a great answer for spending his own money would have been that he is doing his own part to help the Florida economy.
Notice anything unusual here??
Total Talking Times
Romney: 21:11, during 13 times
McCain: 16:00, during 13 times
Giuliani: 13:50, during 11 times
Huckabee: 12:11, during nine times
Paul: 6:31, during six times
Ron Paul got the least amount of times to talk and the least amount of total talk time (almost 1/2 that of the next highest – Huckabee)
How come the media continues to ignore Dr. Paul and does not let him have any say?? Are they *THAT* scared of him??
Huccabee’s comment about being afraid of Norris was weak. It was a low blow at mccain (age issue) and it was deliberate. Same for his low blow at mitt’s religion. This is TRUE negative campaigning, as opposed to romney’s ads which stick to issue differences (not personal). Huccabee comes off to me as a real sneak.. letting others do his dirty work. I think Mitt is best for the country, most conservative and the one that will bring fresh ideas. Mccain did nothing for illegal imigration in his own state – since he really doesn’t see it as an issue. Now he flip flops because most people oppose it. He did nothing for 10 years.. NOTHING. Mccain was against the bush tax cuts, now he wants them permanent.. Huh??? He is the real flip flopper and too much of an insider to do anything.
Hey digitalbeachblum speak for yourself. Romney will win Florida. The man is genuine when he speaks, has real world experience. Unlike Mccain who has been on the Government dole his entire life. You know, the welfare that pays well. Boy do we need term limits. Some of these dinosaurs have got to go, they hold this country back.
I too take offense at the lack of mention of Ron Paul. He’s been outperforming Giuliani and yet gets decidedly less coverage. Where’s the love for Paul?!?
Speaking as a massachussetts resident, Mitt Romney is a political opportunist. He is most excellent as a manager and organizer in a crisis. However he leans too far to the right pandering to ancient ideals long ago proven to be draconian in nature.
His claim to solving the health insurance crisis ended up being a boon to the state’s tax coffers and mandating that people buy medical insurance. We like to think of him as Mitt the Twitt up here. That being said, I don’t think any candidate is even beginning to address the issues that face this country as a whole. I only see political maneuvering and pandering to the cameras for those kodak moments.
This country has serious problems and it will take serious people to address them.
I believe that McCain says and puts out the SAME stories every time I see him (ROCKY< his MOM, staright talk, my friends) It is getting oldddd. Mitt Romney was energetic, well spoken, knowlegeable. He WILL beat Shillary in November. A TRUE CONSERVATIVE
Thanks, Carl! Your report was a breath of air. 5th grade? Perhaps, but that is just refreshing. Must say that I had previously viewed you as rather stiff, but you are definitely with it and right on in my opinion. Mitt Romney is our man!
Romney won the debate, hands down. He is the man!
He is the only one with the experience, leadership, and morals we need to lead us.
Romney 2008!
It’s taken me some time, but the more I see Mitt and learn about him the more I feel like “duh!”, this is the right nominee for the GOP. Smart, disciplined, good-looking, successful in the private and government sectors, hardworking, organized, creative, open-minded, tough, conservative, compassionate, and has a real human touch. The only negatives are his relativly recent conversion to pro-life (and he really seems to have been more pro-life in the 80s, maybe he is returning to his roots…and is it so bad to see the light and change? I think that is in some ways powerful to the pro-life movement, to have a convert as the leader.), and his overly polished presentation. Last night that seemed to go away anyway as he was more relaxed. I really think Mitt would be a powerful leader for real conservative change. Go Mitt!
Good article Cameron. Short and precise statements are more factual and to the point. It helps prevent political spin, like Mr. O Riley of Fox News Factor always put’s it..’the spin stops here…”
Conservative republicans must come to accept Mitt as the stongest of all the candidates. Look at the man. He is smart. He is rich. He is good looking. He is a natural leader. Critics and and foe have attacked him as Phoney because they are jealous in that Romney had not gone through the tough experience of life like the Prinsoner of War hero McCain, or the 9-11 hero Gullian, or the “man that worked for and not the man that laid him off” religious Minister, Huckabee. Frankly, to the contrary, Romney’s success in life is a clear reflection and demonstration of his hard work, and get it done attitude. Listen to some of my favourite true conservative talk radio hosts, Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingra or Levin. They may not endorse any candidate, but more than often, there conservative views, meet Romney’s description 99.9% of the time than any of the other republican candidates. Romney is the only candidate that can beat any Democratic nominee. He can tear senator Clinton or senator Obama apart. Last point. The Dems are weak, superficial, and and have closets full of skeletons. So my friends, come stand with Mitt. He is the best choice for President at this time. Vote Mitt Romney.
Go Mitt…..
Mitt’s the Man! Go FIX washington, we ALL know it’s broke
Romney in 08 and beyond!
Romney clearly won the debate last night. This is Romneys moment to surge, and I suspect he will win Florida, and as a result pick up alot of important states on Super Tuesday. He took control of the debate last night and clearly showed the nation that he has what it takes to be the next President of the United States of America! His comments about Hillary and Bill in the White House again were priceless! GO ROMNEY!!!
i believe Mitt won the debate hands down last night. It’s getting annoying hearing the punditry say Mitt can’t win or that he will be the outsider when rudy, mike and fred give their support to Juan. Duh, just because they give their support to juanny doesn’t mean their supporters will.
Mitt knows business. Period. John can’t even remember what he said a month ago to the press about his lack of knowledge of economics.
Someone should ask him how many jobs he has created or how many people he has hired or what is involved in making a payroll.
I loved Mitt’s comeback on the two for one question – he reminded republicans why another clinton president would be bad.
So to recap:
You “eare” saying:
- Romney might win Florida…BUT McCain has a good chance too…AND so does Giuliani!!
Wow. Thanks for the insight! You eare an amazing reporter!
Romney is now the clear Front Runner. He is way ahead with delegates and total votes so far. McCain now has to go to states that do not let Dems and Independents vote. He cannot compete when it is only Republicans. Republicans do not trust him. Guiliani is done as he had a bad strategy and to much personal baggage. Huckabee is like the wierd uncle that you do not let around your children and never stood a chance. Ron Paul is a joke and does not even deserve an explanation.
Somethingsphishy
Poor Carl. You just can’t win. Before, everyone said you hated Romney. Now they’re complaining that you love him. They are even complaining about your grammer and pithy comments! That’s alright. We understand. It was 3:00 am when you did your post. Keep up the good work. Our family has always enjoyed your reporting!
Romney has all the momentum, delegates and votes
McCain is really a Democrat
Guiliani screwed up and is toast
Huckabee is like the weird uncle you try and hide and is scary
Ron Paul is a joke
Somethingsphishy
Mr. Cameron, I see nothing wrong with your writing style. It is to the point. I suspect there are many readers that appreciate plainess in a world where some people like complicating a message with frivolous verbage. I have taught school for 21 years and am not offended by simple, plain writing – it is refreshing and clear.
Not one candidate is perfect. I am greatly impressed by Ron Paul’s honesty and message and think the world is a much better place for having his influence.
I will, however, vote for Romney. I believe he has the ability to work within a confused system of government, and we need him.
Bob Langston
I agree with the majority of people here. Mitt has come from nowhere and is making great inroads. He has a strong platform, has great experience, and is a turnaround master. He can communicate well and is very intelligent. For all of these reasons and more, he has won three states and taken second in two. He leads in the total number of vote and in the delegate count. Who knows what will happen in the future, but I believe he has at least as good (if not better) chance of winning the nomination than anyone. What about his chances against Hillary or Obama? As America gets to know him, they will side with the true leader.
Good analysis, Carl.
Romney’s actually managed something – in business and government. McCain’s been little more than a professional politician and angry blow-hard. (Being a member of the Senate, which is nothing but a debating society, is hardly “experience.”) It looks like Florida’s Republicans are on track to elect the right candidate.
Go Mitt!!!!!!!
Did everyone else hear Romney getting fed answers?
http://www.justin.tv/ronpaultv/62347/Strange_Whisper__Romney_Raise_Taxes
The guy cant even think for himself let alone run against Hillary. The bottom line is NONE of the so called front runners stand a chance against Hillary or Obama. 7 in 10 Americans are sick of the War and are terrified about economic issues. McCain is simply lifetime Washington DC politics at its worst. Who really wants 4 more years of a failed GW policy?
Huckabee stands for everything true conservatism isnt. Taxes, more govt programs, more taxes, welfare programs, more taxes, bigger federal involvement and more taxes. Not to mention he is broke! Chuck Norris tried to raise millions for him at a high priced fundraiser event and only pulled in $300k. Real people, real voters, real working class people pooled together another $2M for Ron Paul in one day!
Guiliani clearly isnt ready for the national stage and he will be the next to drop out. I am sure he will be quick to endorse his long time friend and pal McCain too.
The ONLY candidate that truly has any shot against the dems is Ron Paul. Did you notice that all the candidates kept saying, “I slashed taxes, I’m for change, I can cut spending, blah blah blah” Ron Paul simply stated the truth and stuck to the facts. His record is flawless. Cant say the same for the rest of them. Romney thinks he has more donations than Paul too? Ha, check the records dude. RP has outraised everyone on the past 2 quarters, and has more liquid cash on hand than anyone.
Then when they asked how are they going to fix the economy, SS, education, etc its always more federal involvement, more federal funding, etc. WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GET THIS MONEY FROM??? There is NO MONEY folks. The Dems and Repubs have squandered it all overseas and have ruined the US Dollar. Ron Paul is THE ONLY one who has the plan to save us trillions, stop borrowing money from China, truly fix our economy, and END taxes not replace them with some other tax.
Vote the issues, Vote for TRUE Change, vote Ron Paul this election!
[...] Report for Romney Posted on January 25, 2008 by cindyforbes Mitt’s Moment <!– Share –> by Carl Cameron Polls show Mitt Romney could win the Florida [...]
Vote Mitt. Great job Cameron. Short, simple and to the point statements helps prevent political spin.
A few weeks ago, I was teaching young girls about the importance of making choices based on facts and not on what others may say. If you want facts you need to get out there and do the research yourself! The suggestion that Mitt Romney saved the Olympics because of the government bailout is CRAZY! I don’t know of anyone our current government has “saved” by just throwing money at the problem. You want an example? Take the Welfare system in the U.S.
Every good leader knows that first you must have a Vision and a Plan, then you have to back it up with Hard Work!!
Check this out! You will find Mitt Romney fits that very pattern!
By the way, even fifth graders could figure out the “meat” of the message.
First off, im just going to state right now that I did not even waste my time by reading this article. I’ve read enough articles just like this one to know that it has no real substantial truth behind it. I did however skim this article for a mention of Ron Paul and then read most of the comments. I literally loled at most of them. I find it quite amusing that people really buy into the media coverage of this election and believe it to be true. Mitt Romney seems like some type of test tube baby cooked up by the government with all the components of being a “great president”, little bit of JFK little bit of Reagan, little bit of Bush…its ridiculous.
I would now like to call Tim out who left a comment saying that Ron Paul is not a serious candidate. I can see where you would get that. I mean it’s not like he’s not the top internet searched candidate and he definitely didn’t raise over 6 million in one day leaving him with more on hand cash than most of the other candidates(that isn’t from out of his pocket like Mr. Romney.) So I guess your right he doesn’t really stand a chance does he?
If Ron Paul does not win this election, we will continue to fall as a country. We will be more in debt than we already are, the economy will completely crash and the reign of the U.S as the super power will be over.
If you genuinely care about the well being of this country, as being one for democracy and the basic constitutional rights that we deserve as being American citizens than make the right decision and vote for Ron Paul.
Did you hear the whisper to Romney about taxes during the Reagan question? Here’s the link to youtube. It’s very distinct. Are there rules about being “fed” answers? Please check it out.
OK, let me get this straight. Evangelicals are dead set against Mitt? They would never vote for him? So in a straight up contest next November between Mitt and a woman who is pro-abortion and known for lying, hiding records, forgetting facts (although she’s supposedly genius-level), and for being married to a guy who is even better at all those things, the aforementioned evangelicals would rather vote Democrat than Republican? Or they would rather stay home and not vote, which is the same thing as voting Democrat? Remember: The only thing necessary for triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Has everyone forgotten Vince Fowler and his ties to Hillary? By the way, I prefer Congressman Ron Paul over Governor Mitt Romney. It’s time America, please, to get the Clintons off the public dole. Please don’t elect Billary.
One of the things that is being overlooked is that while the hard core conservatives love Romney he will not win in the general election. The reason why is very simple. The ultra-conservatives and ultra-liberals will eventually vote for their respective candidates whether they really like them or not primarily because they simply can’t bear to see the other side take control. In other words a moderate like McCain is a lot better than an ultra-liberal like Hillary or Obama (the same could be said in reverse for democrats of course). The problem is that these two voting blocks usually cancel each other out and it’s left to the Independants and moderates on either side to swing the election one way or the other. Right now, Republican is a dirty word among these voters because the ultra-conservative Bush policies are perceived (and truth is often less important than perception) as disasterous. Moderates and Independants will not vote for a hard core conservative right now because given the choice between and extreme liberal and an extreme conservative the state of the nation right now and the perception of the Republican party by those voters will hand the election to the democrats.
I am one of those moderates and while I mostly agree with the Republicans I have no shame in voting democrat when I find them to be a superior choice at the time. My position is that Romney will NEVER receive my vote for the very reason that he is the same type of “say anything to win” used car salesman that Hillary is and he’s extreme. Additionally, I recognize that both the democrats and Republicans are so entrenched in this “win at all costs and never surrender to the enemy on the other side of the aisle” attitude that nothing ever gets done. Both the democrats and republicans have great ideas that could benefit this country but neither side can do anything to get them implimented because one side goes against it for the sole reason that it was the idea of the other side. It’s like a bunch of children. I believe we need someone with a history of being able to put aside the partisanship and work with either side. The only candidate I see with the track record to do that is McCain. I don’t believe Hillary can do it, Obama MIGHT but I doubt it, and I doubt Romney can as well as he is simply too extreme and he will solidify the “us vs. them” mentality.
I do not always agree with McCain (immigration is a perfect example – although I understand why he did it) but I respect him and I trust that what he does is done because he believes it is the right thing to do. I can’t say that about anyone else. His statement last night that he will put the interests of America above the interests of his party resonated with me as I am sure it did with many Independants and moderates. Romney had a good night in his demeanor and his delivery but I saw another Bush and the nation won’t go for that. If you think they will ask yourself who controls Congress now and why.
Great summary of where the campaign is. I sense momentum with Mitt – especially after the debate last night. Mitt wins on economy and judges.
GO MITT!!!!!! We need a proven business minded individual to put this country where it needs to be. We also need to maintain strong moral, family-minded leadership. GO MITT!!!!!
I like Mitt Romney. I respect his Religious faith very much . I have known great men who held offices in Mitts Mormon Religion. I believe Mitt is a honest Man and a righteous one at that. I think Mr. Romney will make a great president because of his integrity and honest heart. If God has a interest in saving America from the enemies within and without and I believe he does, Perhaps Mitt Romney’s Bid for the highest office in this land will be aided by the Almighty hand of God. If this sounds a bit off the deep end for some of you I do not wish to apologize. Ben Franklin rightly quoted the scriptures instructing us That if a sparrow can not fall to the earth without him (God) noticing it, can a Nation rise without his Aid ? I believe the continued success of this country as a free Nation and the leader of the free world is in the hands of God which he delegates to his honest followers. One of which Mitt Romney is.
I’m really curious, why Ron Paul isn’t doing well among the “fiscally conservative” Republican Party? Is it because there hasn’t really been a fiscally conservative Republican since Dwight D. Eisenhower? Are Republicans really fiscally conservative, or just for tax breaks? Look at the record since Ike. I consider myself fiscally conservative and socially liberal – and that means that we should have a right to own guns, run our business’ how we want without government interference, and NOT spend ourselves into oblivion. (Our dollar is becoming worthless.) I hope Ron runs as an independent if he can’t get the honest attention of the conservative Media. (MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc.)
After Thompson’s departure, I’m stuck with Romney. But I must say, Cameron’s been in the tank for Romney from the start. He dismissed Fred before he even entered because he wore the wrong shoes to the Iowa state fair back in the summer.
I used to like “Campaign Carl.” Now I seriosly can’t stand him. Not because I disagreed with him, but because he thinks he’s Dick Morris now, who I also can’t stand.
Anyway, go Romney.
It is without doubt that Mitt Romney should be the front runner in the next general election. His consistant banter, sharp edged strategy and wit seems to have finally caught on. His explanation of what the country needs is right on target. His audience certainly should listen to his sage advice. I am fast starting to think Mitt is the one to pull us out of our economic ditch. John McCain does not nearly measure up to the intelligence of Mitt Romney. Most anyone should be able to see this!!!
Did anyone here the whispering going on during the debate while Mitt was being asked questions about Reagan. Someone whispered “Taxes” to him as if to tell him what to say. So in essence, Mitt didn’t really debate, he was led much like the other candidates. Guiani? NO MONEY. MCCAIN, NO MONEY. But it’s no surprise that the only candidate who upholds real republican values gets no play and that’s Dr. Paul. You are all a bunch of liberal sell outs
This article is just like any other: the guy doesn’t know jack. Down the candidate, then praise him; say “he has no chance at all”, then say “don’t count him out”.
Just youtube the video of Romney getting his answers from someone. If you really think he has it together watch that and see for yourself. it’s right there in front of your very own eyes. or you can live the american DREAM and stay asleep
Romney/Thompson 08
That is the winning ticket my friends. Romney is a problem solver and that is exactly what we need at this moment in our nations history.
Go Mitt!
Would all the pedantic English purists please knock it off! Let’s keep this topic on the election can we! As I read some of the previous posts, I notice many of the readers are coming to their senses. John McCain’s mother said it best by saying John doesn’t have the support of the Republican base; she said John would win but people would hold their noses as they voted for him. This was a quote; these disparaging remarks came from his own dear mother! If I have to hold my nose, Ms. McCain, I may as well send a message to the Republican Party at the same time. I would vote for the Democrat if it were Obama (not Hillary.) Romney will win Florida and go on the win the election. He represents true change; not more political demagoguery. Just as an observation, Obama is kicking Hillary’s rear end in the debates. The nasty attacks on Obama show the Clintons’ true colors – nasty to the core! Nuff said!
I was impressed by the performance of all the candidates except Ron Paul. I found it very hard to take him seriously.
I am for Romney. He’s got the best combination of the strengths we need. Others my edge him out in ONE are, but not all.
If anyone really studies what he did with the Olympics and with turning around failing businesses — especially HOW he did it, they’ll see he has the best chance of actually doing something positive in Washington.
His management style is amazingly effective. His ability to research and understand numbers is remarkable. His commitment is firm.
Let’s all make sure we give him a chance to prove himself in the White House.
John McCain should point out that the current economic quagmire is due in large part to a deregulated banking industry. Deregulation has been driven by the flow of funds from affected industries to Congress. John McCain has championed campaign finance reform and lobbying reform which would decouple economic power from political power. Mitt Romeny is a “what’s good for big business is good for America” Republican in the mold of GW Bush. As the founder of Bain Capital Mr Romney is also a prominent member of the most voracious capitalists club in the world. Venture capitalists buy up and break up companies often moving assets and jobs overseas. This type of activity is compounding our current economic troubles.
It’s nice to see the issue of religion finally becoming less of a means to curb Romney’s momentum. It was very disturbing to hear the comments of people in SC to say they wouldn’t vote for Romney because of his religious beliefs. Basically, they are simply repeating what their baptist pasture said the Sunday before.
Last time I checked, America had separation of Church and State. It’s time we quickly move past a candidates beliefs after realizing they are conservative in nature. Mormonism, although misunderstood by many has a lot of great values and is very conservative. Check. Let’s move on to other issues that matter.
“John McCain is under attack, much as he was in 99 and 00. ”
Did you even watch the debate? McCain, Giuliani and Huckabee could have group hugged on stage.
This is hilarious! They don’t mention Dr. Paul ONE time during their article, but they have him in the tags. Guess they know what people want to search for, even if they’re too afraid have him in their article.
Mr. Giuliani weasels on illegal immigration and illegal aliens. Shouting he will stop illegal immigration leaves out the millions of illegal aliens now here. He has yet to concur illegal aliens have no right to live and work in America. He has yet to endorse the White House August 10th Fact Sheet for enforcement of existing federal immigration law, minus amnesty for illegal aliens. This reform will stop unscrupulous employers from hiring illegal aliens. Mr. Giuliani has said nothing about the ICE report of 632,000 fugitive illegal aliens nationwide. He never mentions a remedy for the social evil of criminal aliens infesting criminal street gangs. He has failed to address the burden to states from criminal aliens in state prisons. He ignores the GAO numbers indicating in 2007 the federal government will spend $1.5 billion on 28,000 criminal aliens in federal prison. He has failed to declare he opposes amnesty for illegal aliens. Mr. Giuliani: Stop weaseling.
“Romney claims to have saved the Olympics in 2002, but with a $1.2 billion federal bailout, anybody could have saved the Olympics. Romney didn’t save the Olympics; the taxpayers did.”
Right on! Also, he never mentions Fraser Bullock his hands-on COO, CFO and the 15 million Mormon volunteers who would have done anything to avoid embarrassing Salt Lake City with a failed Olympics!
As for Bain, it’s easy to get people to work 18 hours a day if that’s what it takes to affect a turnaround. I worked for a consulting firm & they fire you if you don’t get with the program. If you think this translates to dealing with the public employee unions in DC to get buy-in for change, you’ve never been to Washington. Oh right – like Romney.
I was very impressed with Mitt Romney at the debate last night…And by the way people, Carl Cameron is a reporter, not a journalist….his specialty is being on-camera and he does a wonderful job!! So go easy on him.
Mitt was the shining star last night. McCain couldn’t answer Ron Paul’s question on economics. Instead, McCain started spewing out a long list of his economic advisors, trying to make us think that he’s an economy genius! And McCain lied when he said he got the majority of Republican votes in the earlier voting states…check your facts, voters, he came in SECOND. Another lie when Russert called him on the mat for admitting that economics wasn’t his strong suit. He flatly denied ever saying that, but in reality, he has admitted his weakness often.
We want a true conservative who will hold our Republican bar high. Don’t let it slide by voting for the liberal New York Time’s endorsement, John McCain!
As someone who has voted Republican all my life I recognize that a right-winger like Romney has a little chance of winning the national election this time, even if wasn’t sleazy in a Cheney-Rove’ish way, which Romney is and which reduces his chances to zero.
I for one am sick of the way we are ruining all chance of progress with dogmatic one-track minds like Romney and Hillary. I am ready for conciliation rather than litmus tests for “values” which are detested by the other 50 percent of the country.
I’m voting for McCain if I get the opportunity, Obama if I don’t. If neither is offered I’ll vote for Hillary, god help me, before Romney.

This article is mostly correct factually but it feels like it was written by a junior high school kid. ….
God bless america,
dan
HEY DAN, you better capitalize the name of my country – America, The United States or however you refer to it when you criticize others on how they write. By the way, writers are entitled to thier own style. Grammer is for essays and high school English teachers who failed as writers so have to pedal the one thing they can do properly. Unwavering attention to it demonstrates brain constipation and an inability to understand obvious messages i.e. “confused”.
Mitt is still in contest just because he has more MONEY. That is the unfortunate state of politics today. HUCKABEE is the best candidate to bring much needed unity and direction to washington. had he had one-tenth of mitt’s money, he could have easily be the front runner.
IF PEOPLE WANTS TO SEE FISCAL DISCIPLINE, LOBBYIST-FREE Capitol HUCK IS THE BEST CHOICE. With any other it is the same old stinking politics in capitol.
Reasons why I think HUCK IS BETTER – HE IMPROVED THE HEALTHCARE, ROADS, SCHOOLS and other infrastructure in AR. He has maintained fiscal discipline and turned over 200 Mil deficit into 800 Mil surplus. If you take out the tax hike required by supreme court, He had cut the taxes and improved the economy.
Mitt – Says his campaign is not run by lobbyists. but several lobbyists are working in his campaign. He is a worse flip-flopper than kerry.
Rudy – He is not clean. known for promoting self-interests and helping his syndicate. womanising, lobbying are natural traits for him.
McCain – A war hero, but a liberal on many issues. His ditching of first wife for a prettier and wealthier one shows a frail nature.
Ron Paul – he is in his own fantasy land.
Clintons – repeat of Bill’s era of corruption, deceit and lies
Obama – He has no record. His “Present” votes show he cannot face crisis. He is all talk, no action guy.
Edwards – Never practices what he preaches.
if everyone woud take a minute to realize that a whole boatload of what they know about giuliani comes from the new york times and left-wing media outlets, but, as i have said there are many sheep in this world and they only follow, not lead or think on their own..giuliani, regardless of having 87%dem council, and having the NYT aagainst him, he still turned NYC by 180 degrees.. i, unlike most of you who seem to over exxagerrate your favorite nominee, i dont…i am a giuliani supporter, but i can definitely support romney in the general election…romney did well, but christ sake, they gave him half of the debate..i have read romneys record in mass. and it was not fiscally conservative. employment was down, payscale only rose a dollar in 6 years and population dropped 12%…SPIN is a fantastic thing and romneys campaign can certainly be spun as far as fiscal conservativeness, and he is definitely a HUGE panderer..but, hes good at it…one thing that cant be spun is giulianis record as a fiscal conservative… RUDY is certainly not perfect, but someone would have to be living in a cave to VOTE for romney because he is th fiscal conservative..NOT EVEN CLOSE !!! and mcain, whew !! he is as clueless as they come…he is the only candidate that hillary can beat in a debate ! why,you say>>>well, neiter one of them have any substance, but hillary is better at spinning the fact that she knows nothing
Romney is on a roll and The Ghoul, Hucky, and John “the fraud” McCain won’t affect it.
As a replanted New Yorker who admires Mayor Guilani’s accomplishments including his leadership during 911 and one who has nothing but respect for Senator McCain’s military service the choice is clear for me, MItt Romney is the most qualified candidate in either party due to his outstanding level of achievment from a diversified list of life experiences. It is obvious this is a man who knows how to get things done in a a meaningful and inclusive manner. If the voters send another career politician back to Washington, another member of the club of ruling elties, we are doomed to see the same lack of vision, leadership and abandonement of core American values. No other credible candidate has even begun to address the issue of entitlements and the strangle hold they have on our econmomy. Gov Romney is being honest about social security in that it is not sustainable in its current format. McCain, Clinton, Obama have all been there and DUCKED it, and are content to keep kicking the can down the road while irresponsibly proposing BILLIONS in new programs and a larger and even more intrusive federal governent. I intend to vote for a grown up, and clearly decent human being who has acutally produced something outside of the government sector. I am pro-life and have confidence Mitt Romney will continue to enhance a pro life society. The attacks that he has been too successful are anti capitilist anti industrial ravings of career politicians, who would not be reocgnizable today, if not for having spent other peoples money (taxpayers) in useless and friviolus ways. Senator McCain saying he is a proud conservative is akin to Hillary Clinton being on the cover of playboy magazine.
People should stop attacking this article’s writer!! Punctuations are off but I’ve seen worse writing in the media than this. This is just average in terms of grammer. what’s more important to me are the contents and arguments presented. I think the writer was right on with analyzing how Romney is doing. He is clearly surging. And he was most presidential in the last debate, with serious and direct responses even though the moderator was trying to slip him up with probing controversial questions. I haven’t seen somebody this well prepared to campaign in Florida since Ronald Reagan. He established himself in Florida with a lot of Jeb Bush’s campaign
staffers. He supported Gov. Crist in the past so they know each other. If Fred Thomson declines to join Romney on the ticket, he may ask Gov. Jeb Bush. Many think his ideal guy is Gov. Crist
but his priority now is serving Florida. Ron Paul does not sound like a Republican to me. McCain’s been in Washington too long and too liberal( not conservative enough), Guliani is more
moderate and not doing a good job of explaining his policies and seem out of touch with what voters are looking for right now. Romney has a history of turning things around for the better.
He wants to do it at the federal level. If he wins, an ideal running mate could be Jeb Bush.
We will see.
Here’s some interesting “Straight BS Talk” from steriod John. See VIDEOS below and your feelings about him will definitely be increased in a negative direction.
McCain believes in the Kyoto agreement and is a global Warming wimp! The light bulbs are just the beginning. Now it is our thermostats the Socialist government wants to control and McCain is with them!
Professional, political parisites listen to lobbyists who eventually get them into trouble! Have you forgotten the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal in Arizona? Here are some of the things John McCain has accomplished with his 25 years in Washington, D.C.
Keating, the comptroller, of Lincoln S&L was convicted of over 70 criminal violations in Arizona, McCain’s home state. Senator John McCain was one of the ringleaders of the “KEATING FIVE” that cost the American taxpayers $160 BILLION DOLLARS.
McCain/Feingold(D) Bill (Free Speech assault), McCain/Kennedy(D) Amnesty Bill (for 12M illegal aliens) and McCain/Gang of 14 (Democrats/Filibusters), McCain/Lieberman(I/D) (Global Warming Tax), Voted NO to MLK Jr. Holiday.
He voted against the Bush tax cuts twice, voted 50 times for higher taxes, seven times against repealing the death tax through 2002, voted against extending the Bush tax cuts, against U.S. spy agencies expanded power to eavesdrop on foreign suspects without a court order, sponsored and voted for a bill to raise cigarette tax by $1.10 per pack (182%), wants to put all illegal aliens ahead of the line for citizenship and give them Social Security benefits for working illegally, and voted to allow federal funding for research on stem cell lines derived from embryos. He seems to be using HRC’s playbook.
John McCain’s “CONSERVATIVE” record stinks.
What will he do as POTUS? Be afraid! Be very afraid!

FOX: we report, you decide..
article kind of looks like a Romney commercial to me.
Fox reported, I decided… it is a right-wing news reporting agency trying to pass themselves off as being neutral. Nice try, Fox, I’ll get my news from somewhere else
Republican voters associate age (or experience if you prefer) with virtue. However, they believe in an even stronger connection between wealth and virtue. In the privacy of the voting booth these voters just “know” that Romney is the best candidate because he is the wealthiest. I’ve been betting on Romney for months because its as simple as that.
The more I read about Mitt Romney and the more I see him debate the issuse the more I’m convinced that he’s my President.

I sincerely believe with every fiber of my body that a Mormon as POTUS would be a blessing for our country and the FREE WORLD!
One of Mitt Romney’s advertisments says he closed down Bain Capital and asked his 30 partners and employees to help him search for the 14-year-old daughter of one of his partners who had been missing in New York for three days in July 1996. He told the girl’s father, Robert Gay, “I don’t care how long it takes; we’re going to find her,” They found the girl who had gone to a rave party. She was close to death from an overdose of ecstasy when they found her.
When Mitt Romney is selected as our nominee for POTUS and elected as POTUS he will bring to Washington, D.C. a group of likeminded people with honesty, integrity and dedication to serve as his Cabinet Secretaries who will cleanup Washington, D.C. from top to bottom and inside out.
This is why some Republicans and Democrats continue sniping and lying about Mitt Romney, because they know their useless , duplicative bureaus are filled with generations, via nepotism, of Socialist Marxists bureaucrats who undermine all Republican Administrations to further their ideology of Socialism.
When Mitt Romney is nominated as POTUS to campaign against the Democrat nominee the scared Republicans will bring their support for him rather than the Democrat and all this bunch has is a “flip” not a flop on abortion, but is now prolife now and forever. He was bound by MA law to be prochoice. Whether he actually was I do not know. I do know he is PROLIFE now and he must be in order to be a Mormon. I am baptised in the Church of GOD, which I helped build, and I will do everything in my power to help Mitt Romney to become POTUS #44.
Semper Fidelis,
Jason Leverette

I am an Independent Democrat (go figure!) who registered as a Republican to vote for Rudy. He has been battle tested in America’s fiercest combat zone: New York City. He and his troops will deliver on Tuesday January 29. And for us supporters that will be enough vindication, because come November only Rudy will be able to deliver. If you want to know firsthand… go to my website.
Anyone who watched the debate last night saw a President on that stage!
It wasn’t John McCain, my friends, with his ear to ear grins and giggles, and lies about his record.
It wasn’t Huckabee with his smooth-talking fluff, showing himself to be the biggest hypocrite on the stage, by talking about religious tolerance. And if you can’t stand up to Chuck Norris Huck, then how are you going to stand up to the world’s dictators?
It wasn’t Ron Paul, although he didn’t sound quite as insane as he has in past debates.
It wasn’t Rudy Giuliani although he did fairly well, I’m leaning toward VP for him.
So which candidate looked, talked and felt the part of the President of the United States?
MITT ROMNEY!!!
The last remaining hurdle for Mitt Romney was crossed last night, when he showed the American people that he has what it would take to beat the Democrats in November!
MITT ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!
It is clear Mitt is the one GOP man that can do the job. He was way ahead of his class last night in the debate. It was not even close. He is direct, smart, and has his act together. He has got to win FL to have any chance on Feb 5 i think. He has got to dethrone McCain soon. He will do well against Team Clinton in the general nomination. McCain would get eaten up. Can any one say why the heck Paul is still being given a forum in this race. He is a clown. I would not be surprised if after he drops out of this GOP race; which will happen, he will simply start a run as an independent. The mere fact that so many give him any time at all is frightening to me.
If your article is about Romney why do you show a picture of McCain on the Google news link? I see that all the time.No one is courageous enough to show Romney, the media is trying to convince us that McCain is the “real” option and is constantly flooding us with his image.Show Romney, be fair.
It isn’t that Democrats want McCain. They don’t really care who the Republicans nominate, as long as a Democrat wins the White House.
It is the “independents” that are supporting McCain. While many Republicans say they won’t even consider voting for McCain, many independents, including myself, really don’t care for anyone else on the running for the Republican ticket, and feel the same way about the other people seeking the Republican nomination.
I am not a liberal Democrat. I am not a conservative Republican. I am a voter who is a moderate and has no qualms whatsoever about splitting votes, voting for one party for Congress, and another for the White House, depending on who is running. I vote issues, not parties.
If the Republicans want to keep the White House, they need independent voters, and McCain is the best bet on the Republican side to appeal to these voters.
Romney is doing Great. He is the only candidate to have won in 3 of the races so far. He is only candidate have come in either first or second in 5 of the 6 races so far. IA was a blue state in 2000 and NH was blue in 2004, and MI has been blue since Reagan. I am confident that, when we start to see more results from red states, Romney will emerge as the nominee. In the general election he will convert MA and MI into red states. Those are pretty useful states to win for a republican. I live in FL and the only signs or stickers I have seen so far are Romney’s that means, at least, that he is putting in the effort down here. Each state where Romney has put in extra effort has rewarded him with a win.
I will do the same as many of the other conservative commenters on this board. If McCain gets nominated I will stay home or vote libertarian. I bet if you did a national survey of actual GOP voters you would find this a very common sentiment towards McCain. I know that is why the mainstream press love to pump him up so much, because even pathetic Hillary would slaughter him in the general election. If voters want a liberal president, then why not vote for the best liberal; Hillary… not McCain.
To Owen,
Sorry but I had to correct your misleading comments about Mitt’s role at the Olympics.
Federal funding has always been used to support and fund the Olympics when they are held in the U.S. Despite this fact, only one other domestic Olympic Games has been profitable. That was Los Angeles. Atlanta, only a few years prior to Salt Lake, was a financial disaster, federal funding notwithstanding. Also, federal money is only used for things like security, environment, education programs, etc. Many of them federally mandated. In other words, the Games themselves are supported by a large amount of private money, without which, Salt Lake would have been a bust. And Mitt was largely responsible for being the rainmaker for those funds.
I am sorry but you don’t know what you are talking about. Slat Lake was extremely lucky to have Mitt at the helm. Now I hope our country is as lucky.
Carl-
Although your language and grammar clearly don’t deserve a passing grade, I gave you a D- on this paper only because you seem to be passionate about your subject. As I said at your Parent-Teacher conference, if you don’t learn to write you will end up digging ditches or being a TV journalist. You wouldn’t want that, would you?
Mr. Cameron is the bone head who asked Ron Paul if he thought he could win! He is bias and only covers the boys from Council on Foteign Relations group- David Rockefellars globaloney and gut the US to reduce our prosperity and freedoms. These think/stink tanksers are elitists and exclude Dr. Paul whenever possible from main stream media. Watch Fox stock plummit as Grassroot investors divest from this exclusive club set mentality of snobs. Mr. Cameron and fox news network owes Ron Paul an apology for the shabby manner he was treated. Mr. Cameron is a in a gas guzzling video car and should stop the boycott of Paul coverage. Carl you ditz what makes you think you are qualified to report anything. Baised and uninformed ignorant types like you should only cover the Winehouse crack affair-It’s more to your level of reporting!
Same stuff only more of it. And what about Huckabee? Leaving him almost out of the article and with no web links, as the others have,is akin to manipulating the facts!
NOt fair – not balanced, just more crap!
So Mc Cain and Rudy are asking their staff to work for free and they are out of money, but they are prommising they will fix the economy? I know how giving amnesty to 30 million of illegals so they get people who will work for nothing. VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY
Why anyone would chose Romney over Huckabee is just baffling. Huckabee has done more with much less money than Mitt.
Mitt will go after what he wants and pay anything to get it. Imagine him in the white house.
I think the Mormon church is really pulling together to flood blogs with pro-Romney garbage. They are also controlling the Media.
Nobody on talk radio will say a good word about Huck even though he is 2nd in the national polls.
Mike Huckabee is VERY electable and we NEED him to run our country.
The last think we need is a greedy, brainwashed Mormon.
Romney would do better if he would prove he respects the constitutional concept of a democratic republic by representing the 75% of American voters who want sick and dying patients to have legal access to cannabis. It’s about more than medical marijuana – it’s about not being a dictator, and listening to the majority whenever the constitution allows it. Willfully ignoring and dodging MS patients (as he recently did on the campaign trail) is no way to endear himself to voters.
Is very possible the democrats are triying to persuade people to vote for Mc Cain because they know he will be so easy to take, they don’t want to run vs. Romney they are afraid to take on him. I just don’t understand why some people don’t want to elect the guy that will bring wealth to all of us americans. I think democrats are runing for illegals they can’t even vote, but they will if Mc Cains-Kennedy amnesty plan passes, they are for big corporations looking for cheap labor, we need some one who’s willing to enforce the corrent laws, and save our economy from a free fall. GO ROMNEY.
I agree 100%. It is clear that Romney is prepared for the general election against the democrats and the clintons after watching the florida debate. I feel strong that Romney will not only win the primary election but go on to win the general as well. Go MITT! If i could give Mitt any advice it would be to prepare a victory speech for the florida primary that will point towards uniting the republican party and get them hiped up to back him for the general election!
Has everyone seen this yet?…
John McCain has Mexican government employee and open-borders zealot Dr. Juan Hernandez working on his campaign!
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/01/25/dr-juan-hernandez-has-joined-the-mccain-campaign/
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/01/25/john-mccains-open-borders-outreach-director-the-next-dhs-secretary/
Go Mitt!
This is for all of you Mitt sheep out there to look over while your waiting your turn at the old feed trough … Changed his mind? Yeah … I think so !
http://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/
Journalistic style would dictate that you identify all the candidates in the same fashion. They should all be called by their last names or by their first names.
Can we afford to have a president who is so arrogant as to think he can become a god (as the Mormon church teaches)? Our nation needs a leader with humility, credibility, integrity, and sincerity, not someone whose ‘next campaign’ will involve the blaspemous pursuit of godhood. Mitt Romney will excel as Mayor of Salt Lake City (or ‘Zion’ as it’s referred to by LDS folks), but please, America, not the White House.
Romney’s appeal to conservatives–here are the issues:
1. His clear stance on illegal immigration. McCain attempted to grant amnesty.
2. His stance on the economy. Mitt outclasses every candidate on both sides and will provide the middle class with tax cuts, and slash the ridiculous corporate taxes stifling business growth. McCain is a joke on this issue and admitted he does not understand the economy.
3. His stance on energy independence. Mitt understands the substantial investment required to develop clean, efficient energy resources but he is not going to punish the US by not drilling oil and refining gas–oil production in Alaska will not only be key to reduce gas prices for every American citizen, but will further boost the economy by providing an abundance of well-paying jobs. Remember the 80’s? Again, McCain is an ignorant liberal on this issue.
Romney will handily defeat the Clintons in 08′
Carl, keep on reporting the news. Its easy for everyone to sit at home and loathe your spelling mistakes and such, but what they don’t realize is the fact that you were probably up late last night and arose early this morning just so we could have some insight on how the race for President is shaping up. I respect what you are doing and really admire the fact that you are willing to live out of a suitcase for so long so we can all have this information.
To everyone else who is so disgusted with spelling errors and “sixth-grade” writing, grow up. This isn’t a 3000 word column on the Presidential race that is proofed and edited. This is Carl’s observations and thoughts as he sees things from his point of view in Florida and each separate candidate’s camp. Let the man write! It’s nice to not be force fed articles dripping with editor bias and ideology, but to have a straight point of view relayed to us.
Keep up the great work Carl, some of us appreciate your insight!
Did anyone hear Romney SAY (I’m sure he didn’t MEAN it) that we need to create a haven in Iraq for al-qaeda and for no one else? I’m sure he meant to exclude them from the haven, but his words made it their haven.
God, I hope he didn’t mean it.
I sincerely believe with every fiber of my body that a Mormon as POTUS would be a blessing for our country and the FREE WORLD! Mitt Romney is a strong conservative and he will bring the Republican Party back to “We The People…”.
Mitt Romney’s closed down Bain Capital and asked his 30 partners and employees to help him search for the 14 year old daughter of one of his partners who had been missing in New York for three days in July 1996. He told the girl’s father, Robert Gay, “I don’t care how long it takes; we’re going to find her,” They found the girl who had gone to a rave party. She was close to death from an overdose of ecstasy when they found her.
When Mitt Romney is selected as our nominee for POTUS and elected as POTUS he will bring to Washington, D.C. a group of likeminded people with honesty, integrity and dedication to serve as his Cabinet Secretaries and Staff who will cleanup Washington, D.C. from top to bottom and inside out.
This is why some Republicans and Democrats continue sniping and lying about Mitt Romney, because they know their useless , duplicative bureaus are filled with generations, via nepotism, of Socialist Marxists bureaucrats who undermine all Republican Administrations with well timed leaks to further their ideology of Socialism .
When Mitt Romney is nominated as POTUS to campaign against the Democrat nominee the scared Republicans will bring their support for him rather than the Democrat and all this bunch has is a “flip”, but no flop on abortion. He was bound by MA law to be prochoice. Whether he actually was I do not know. I do know he is PROLIFE now and he must be in order to be a Mormon. I am baptised in the Church of GOD, which I helped build and I do everything in my power to help Mitt Romney to become POTUS #44.

[...] a look at Carl Cameron’s latest post on the Fox News website, in which he acknowledges Mitt’s Florida surge and praises [...]
Mitt was righ on throughout the whole debate. His answers were clear and concise. Loved his Bill Clinton moment but as soon as he made that little joke he went straight on to the heart of the question.
That’s where Huckabee struggles. He cracks his jokes, waits for the laughs and then struggles to come up with solutions. McCain was a war hero but that doesn’t excuse his outbursts and sucking up to the Kennedy’s. Guillani seemed a little out of focus. And Ron Paul made some sense but just don’t think I could take him serious with that puckered little face.
I was glad to see them all act like adults and not get into the bickering and dogpile on Mitt this time.
Mitt is not only the “man of the moment” but the “man for the job!”
Please, wake me up when this is over. What a dud. And these white guys want to be the President?
Mitt looked good, of course. One of the old guys looked like he would bring back the 90’s, “Who am I?” “What am I doing here?”
Hey Carl I didn’t realize you had joined the Romney campaign! I guess he really has alot going for him, millions of dollars and free campaign adds by Carl Cameron. I support Mike Huckabee, he is the true conservative! Is Mitt Romney a true conservative? Go to trueromney.com to find out.
Don’t you all conservatives realize that the liberal press and the democrats want McCain, because if matched against Hillary/Obama, “JOSE MCKENNEDY” is so beatable, and the presidency will be handed over to the dems on a silver platter!!
Romney is the smartest of them all, he’s the only one that actually did work for a living and ran organizations with thousands of people efficiently, unlike the other Political Hacks blabbing in platitudes. As for experience, who else better than Romney to run a country by bringing in top personnel in charge of homeland security, domestic and foreign policy issues – after all, we are living in a world-wide economic environment. Romney possesses the personal integrity, business acumen and of course looks, when on ONE ON ONE BASIS, will be able to blow Hillary/Obama out of the water. Here’s why I think no other GOP candidates can match up to Hillary/Obama:
MCCain – too oooold…..whining and annoying, immigration (Jose McKennedy bill)!!
Huckabee – Looks like Gomer Pyle, religious fanatic, political hack!!
Guliani – too bad, too late!!!
My fellow Republicans: please please be smart enough to nominate Romney who the liberal press and dems do not want to run against one on one….they are just praying for MCCain and chop him up!!!
Go Mitt!! Great article Carl Cameron!
To Carl Johnson -
I couldn’t DISAGREE with you more. Romney is the antithesis of the Clintons. I believe HE is the only that could win against Hillary.
McCain is the same old, same old. Too many Republicans are furious with him and refuse to vote for him under ANY circumstance.
Facts:
1. I like Carl Cameron’s personality.
2. As a former editor, straight-forward explanations are good, GOOD, GOOD! Cameron’s writing style suits the readers, column, and space limitations.
Questions:
1. Aren’t the comments on this website supposed to be about Romney and the 2008 election?
2. Isn’t there another website the viewers can post preferences/criticisms on journalistic styles, etc?
3. Not everyone can spell/ type well or think well. There are however, many who can think well and not spell/type well. There are even more who can spell/type well and can’t think well. Which would you prefer? (”Loathe” is also allowed per Webster.)
4. Since when does stating that one doesn’t mean to be mean allow one to be mean?
Am I being mean to ask all these questions or make the above statements?
Final Fact: Opinions on the 2008 elections are welcome. Thank you.
I have been trying to watch as much coverage as possible but the one question I would have for all the candidates is: “What would you do if you were president on September 11, 2001″?
Does anyone have a link to where this is answered? Do you know Cameron?
Today, unfortuntely for Senator McCain, he has issued some pretty ridiculous “negative” comments aimed at Mr. Romney. Certainly a shock since he was the first to go on the attack aimed at Romney when the contrast ads were run. Now we hear him commenting about Romney on his LEADERSHIP skills claiming Romney doesn’t have any–Romney is more a manager then a leader. Sad to hear such words from McCain who I believe has questionable leadership skills–seems to be willing to make deals with anyone whether the deal is a good one or bad. Not a leader in my understanding of “leader.” McCain is obviously running very scared and is becoming pathetic! Back to whinning and cry baby attitude of four years ago–everyone else is to blame for what is happening to him when he is doing it to himself! Shame on McCain for his flip-flopping on “attack ads.” Guess it’s okay for him to do it but not for anyone else!
My 3rd attempt to post a comment.
To Mr. Carl Johnson -
I couldn’t DISAGREE with you more. Romney is the antithesis of the Clintons. HE is the only one that shows enough fire to beat Hillary in the general election.
Too many Republicans are furious with McCain and refuse to vote for him under ANY Circumstance.
I think Mitt Romney has the best actionable vision top to bottom of any candidate. He’s won me over. I started leaning toward Huckabee, but there just isn’t enough credible vision and I think he doesn’t have what it takes to represent all of the diversity of America.
MITT’S THE MAN!!! MY FELLOW REPUBLICANS – PLEASE BE SMART! ROMNEY IS THE ONLY GOP CANDIDATE WHO CAN STAND UP ON ONE ON ONE BASES AGAINST HILLARY/OBAMA!
DON’T BELIEVE JOSE MCKENNEDY – WHAT KIND OF A LEADER IS HE?? MOST OF HIS VIETNAM WAR EXPERIENCE WAS BEING IN CONFINEMENT WHICH WAS UNFORTUNATE, AND HE’S USED THIS TO PROP HIMSELF INFRONT OF THE NAIVE AMERICAN PEOPLE. YES, HE DESERVES WHAT HE’S ACCOMPLISHED. BUT WE SHOULD REALIZE THAT THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE LEADERSHIP!! ADDITIONALLY, WHO IS HE TO CLAIM THAT HE’S MORE PATRIOTIC THAN ROMNEY – ROMNEY’S CONTRIBUTION TO AMERICA IS ACTUALLY MORE REAL, I.E. THE SUCCESS OF THE SALT LAKE WINTER GAMES WAS A HUGE PUBLIC RELATIONS VICTORY FOR THE UNITED STATES. WOULD MCCAIN BEEN ABLE TO MANAGE SUCH A SITUATION? I WOULD SAY NO, HE’S A WHINING, OLD POLITICAL HACK, WHOSE NAME SHOULD BE CHANGED TO “JOSE MCKENNEDY”.
I am not sure why McCain is even getting 10 per cent of the votes… My theroy should uphold that Never ever ever vote for a Congressman or Senator.. They do Nothing and Mccain is classic. If Florida Senator Martenez endorces McCain today I will do everything I can to unseat him in his next election for a GOP guy who DOES SOMETHING. Like the Liberal John Kerry, McCain hasnt introduced legislation about Energy Independence, Middle Class protection, Crime that is running amok with Murder rates, Borders. His only legislation is Feingold to hurt Campaign Free speech and Border Amnesty.
Have you noticed McCain doesnt Say he will Protect the Borders? He says he will protect the Shores…. Earth to McCain the illegals arent washing ashore…. THEY ARE FLOODING ACROSS YOUR OWN ARIZONA BORDER LIKE RUSH HOUR AT GRAND CENTRAL STATION… the border police and Border Govt in Arizona would never vote for McCAin…. and McCain would never show up.
Sorry McCain, as an Iraq vet (flying F16s in Iraq and Afghanistan) I cant name one modern day vet who will vote McCain…. he was a hero 40 years ago but now in the last 24 years he is part of the DO NOTHING 11 percent approval Senate.
Romney or Rudy at least have a Do somthing record. Use your dang heads voters.
The Reps are even dumber than the Dems if they nominate Romney and they nom HillBillary. The Clinton attack machine will crucify the Reagan wannbe serial flip-flopper. Taxachusettes could only tolerate a socially liberal moderate Rep to be governor? Romney can be that, pro-choice and all. The GOP wants Reagan reincarnate to retore the party after the Bush disaster? Romney can be that too. Against gay marrage? He is now. Anti-immigration? Why not? An economic Mr Fix-it? He’s your man. Just let him know what you want and that’s who he’ll be.
The Dems are furious over Kerry in 04 and the flip-flopper charge. Handover Romney and watch Kerry’s Revenge be launched with savagery. Billary has got people convinced she’s experienced (tho she’s never done anything other than win a Senate seat and cover Bill’s butt) and Obama is a secret Muslim Robot who’s going to takeover America. She clean the floor with the flip-flopping two faced Mormon wierdo (who’s church has built the biggest genology database in the world bc it collects birth and death certificates of anyone who has ever lived so they can re-baptize them Mormon, even if they died 400 years ago in China.) Romney For The Loss.
I can’t support McCain a war hero because he partnered with Kennedy on issues. any friend of Kennedy is no friend of mine. He should have gotten 30 years for drowning Kerpeckni in his car. He’s only in office as a pity vote. We howled when he discussed waterbording that’s how insensitive the bloke is.
I would agree with Willie.
I’ve been watching this election since last summer and all along when I see Mitt Romney on stage among that field of many I think, ‘now there stands a President’.
He sometimes seems alone on that platform. He seemed unloved by his competitors and even obviously despised by one. But, among a collection of accomplished men there is one who commands attention and is clearly Presidential. One stands well above the rest and that’s Romney.
He’s the antithesis to Huckabee’s “common man” persona, he is the uncommon man.
He is the man with the pedigreed resume, experience, intellect, values, stamina, and class that put him well above all the others. They take shots at him and he responds with dignity. He points out how he is different and they whine of attack. They gang up and form alliances to take him out but he remains standing. The failed attempts to discredit him seem all the more pathetic. They seem small.
All along I’ve watched. All along, I’ve read the polls. All along, I’ve wondered. And, finally it seems the people are beginning to see what I see. As the smoke clears from the process called politics……as it dissipates, the people can clearly see emerging…….their President.
He is indeed, having a moment.
Mitt was awesome last night on the debate! Wait, he cheated?? Well doesn’t that make much more sense. Hey news people! Cover the news!!
Romney’s momentum is gaining by the day. More and more conservative icons (Rush, Hannity, O’Reilly, Coulter, etc.) are blasting Old Man McCain for his clear pro-amnesty, anti-tax cut, anti-Republican record.
As Rush said, McCain will destroy the party because he fundamentally disagrees with its core principles.
Romney gets it. He’s brilliant, he’s a proven genius at turning bad situations into successes and he’s got the family values that the others lack (see McCain’s shameful affair and decision to marry a filthy rich heiress).
Romney will carry Florida on Tuesday. Mark my word.
Romney will win Florida by a 3-4% points
Giuliani will come in 2nd. He came there early and has been PUSHING EARLY VOTING while the other candidates were busy elsewhere. There won’t be enough votes there to over come ROMNEY’S SURGE!
McCAIN IS TOAST! He will continue to loose REPUBLICANS votes elsewhere. His endorsement by the NY TIMES TELLS IT ALL!. The KISS OF DEATH!
Romney has been criticized for changing some of his positions over the years, but he kept his word to the voters of Mass. That is a far more important and better indicator of character. If elected President, he will keep his word to the American people.
This guy will make a great President. BYU undergrad honors, Harvard Law School graduate, Harvard Business School Graduate, fluent in French, a highly successful turn-around manager of failed enterprises, a great governor, a strong family man, and a man of compassion. Some years ago, the daughter of one of Romney’s friends went missing in New York City. Romney shut his business down, and all the employees of the company went to New York City to look for her. He set up a command center and directed the search. Thankfully, they found her.
It would be a rare person who would shut his business down to help a friend. I read about this in Newsweek, and it made a great impression on me.
Reading comments for today (25/Jan)
prompts the following questions:
1) Has Ron Paul won any delegates?
2) How does criticism of the writer ( Carl Cameron) add to the knowledge
of the primary or the candidates?
3) How does “venting” raise the level of scholarship?
Did everyone else hear Romney getting fed answers?
Look at this, even John McCain thinks Mitt Romney is a great guy:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video_log/2008/01/mccain_endorses_romney_in_2002.html
Another flip-flop “my dear friend”?
Tell you what… Mitt Romney is winning me over. I thought he absolutely shined last night. Especially the responses relating to the Clintons.
Speaking of which, what the heck is up with Tim Russert? Romney comes up with an absolutely brilliant gaffe at Bill Clinton’s sexcapades in the White House, and Russert follows with a badgering ” what do you mean by that?”
Come off it Tim, what the heck do you think he meant? I for one have been brought up to believe that the Oval Office is a sacred place, a place where decisions governing the most important things affecting our government are made. Having sex under the desk with a 19 year old intern ( For Goodness Sake, what if that were your daughter Tim?) while on the telephone with a member of Congress is disgusting.
Fit the decorum? I don’t think so. Character matters. The truth matters Tim.
Your article leaves out something very important. McCain has very succesfully showed his conservative voting record, best spending cutter in Congress, and crucial endorsements just came out for him – Stormin Norman Schwarzkopf and Florida’s Senator who was previously neutral just announced for McCain. Your adding to myths about McCain cannot stop the trendous MacMomentum.
More and more people are discovering the plans the Mormons have had for America from the begininng and Romney is high up their priesthood. So even Time Magazine came out with McCain on the Cover just now, and Mark Steyn, Victor Davis Hanson, William Kristol, David Brooks, and many more all are coming out for Big Mac because of his integrity, honesty, and tremendous skill – a multidecorated hero like Churchill – the American Churchill. You don’t even quote a poll because the latest is that McCain’s lead is spreading. Who wants the lying tongue of Romeny – he promoted gays and Abortion in the Liberal State of Massachusetts. He’s just a Carpetbagger who thinks he can come down here and fool us with slickness. Even the Catholic and Protestant Leaders in Florida are alarmed about the Mormon plans for America! We won’t let him takeover our America! The veterans are out in force! Go Big Mac!
McAmnesty is acting very desperate… Calling on all his cronnies now to come n set at the table with him and profess to the whole world how he’s gonna save us from evil. What a joke… I think their all really just looking for a good paying job for the next four years and mainly concerned about themselves than some insistence that he’s the only person capable of defending our well being. He’s merely trying to deflect from the fact that he actually is brain dead on how to stablize this economy. Can anyone out there teach this old dog a new trick?
“since when is personal wealth a problem among republicans?”
You are not that stupid are you? What party does George $oros belong to? I happen to have been given absoultly nothing coming out of high school, took advantage of opportunities I saw instead of whining that the government didn’t do enough for me. I’m still not rich but with that expreience and seeing the whiners of the Democratic party, I had to become a republican.
McCain will sell out everybody just as much as Hillary Clinton will. I might have to vote green party this time around or just not at all.
Carl-
When are you going to make following statements?
“If Huckabee doesn’t win, he’s toast”
“If McCain can’t win Florida, if proves he doesn’t have the real republican support to go on”
You have counted out Mitt and Rudy so many times, you are probably heart-broken that they are still around. Go ahead, you can do it.
-Pete
This election isn’t about Republicans or Democrats or Libertarians. It’s about establishment vs. anti-establishment, and one candidate is the anti-establishment candidate. He is an outsider, not a Washington insider. He knows how the game is played, but won’t play by their rules. The GOP would rather lose the election than have a Republican in office that cannot be bought or controlled by special interests. One candidate threatens the current power structure, where politicians sell their influence to the lobbyists for the highest bid. And it is not just candidates that have sold their souls, it is the major news networks that have been pressured too.
As a conservative, Mitt Romney is the only candidate I feel comfortable voting for. I think that right now the economy is the main issue and Romney is the one that can turn it around. When it comes to National Defense, I also believe that Romney is the right one for the job. As a member of the military and a combat vet, I don’t think that serving in the military makes you more qualified as Commander and Chief. Mitt Romney is a business man and successful business men put experts in positions as advisers. If we could stop thinking about race, gender and/ or religion and start looking at who is going to make our nation stronger, I think Romney is the only one still standing.
Someone please help me out with something, here:
Isn’t there a guy named McCain who was pushing real hard a couple months ago for that illegal allien amnesty bill?
He’s the one that said “i heard the american people and we will build the fence first”. How come he didn’t stop pushing the bill until he realized he didn’t have enough votes? I seem to remeber him pushing long past the public opinion was well known.
This same guy sounds like he still wants to give them amnesty, but he just doesn’t want to talk about it right now. He’ll says he’ll build a fence and then “we’ll have that discussion”
Also, wasn’t there a McCain guy who voted against the Bush tax cuts, and back then called them a “gift for the rich”? Now this same guy says that the only reason he voted against them is becasue they didn’t have spending cuts attached. That’s not what i remember he said, but i guess he’s counting on us not paying much attention.
There was also a guy named McCain who wrote this campaign finance “reform” bill…yeah it was called the McCain-Feingold act. That’s the bill that really stifles free speech and was the genesis of groups like moveon.org.
Certainly it’s not the same McCain who is running for the republican nomination…no true conservative would vote for that guy. Right?
HEY EVERYONE. Mitt Romney was being FED tips in the republican
debate in Florida. Listen closely to this cheater:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x_KIpTVmC8
MITT ROMNEY AND THE ESTABLISHMENT GOP ARE TRYING TO FIX THE NOMINATION. ROMNEY IS A CHEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carl does not have a biased towards Romney. I have been watching this entire campaign and I have yet to see any evidence. If he did he would mention Rightontheright.com’s web spot called McCain’s waltz. I don’t know why some people are already reporting that it was produced by Romney’s campaign.
Maybe FOX NEWS is so in the TANK for ROMNEY that they will bury the video of him CHEATING by getting tips but for those of us with ears….we know he was being fed information. HE IS A CHEATER! The Country Club GOP cannot win against the real conservatives without using wingmen like Thompson to split our vote or cheating using secret voice tips. If this loser Romney gets the nomination….watch all of us on the Christian Right walk and let the GOP get their clocks cleaned this November. Keep cheating you losers. You know FOX and the rest of the folks over at ROMNEYVISION, I mean FNC will lose so many of us on the right if they keep this crap up.
If the Republican Party nominates draft-dodging Romney to be President and Commander-in-Chief, I’m done with them.
I admit at first I was not a fan of this Romney guy, but what check out his credentials! This guy is for real. A change in Washington is not going to come from the Clinton’s nor is it going to come from a very junior senator from Illinois it is going to come from a self made man who knows how to turn around companies. I can’t believe I did not recognize this guy from the start. Go Mitt!
I’m sensing some anti-romney bias and I’m not the only one who has noticed. What’s up with that?
OWEN– Did you do the research to discover that the 2002 Olympics actually turned a $230 million profit? That would then mean that the bail out was covered, and there was a surplus.
Get over it, already.
I absolutely do not trust Romney and fear that because of his ability to spend millions of his own money will saturate the Florida airwaves with short sound- bite commercials to win people over. The people of Florida need to dig deeper on Romney, he is not what he seems. He has flip-flopped on so many issues and seems to say whatever he thinks people want to hear. He tailors his messages based on the state he is in. The Democrats would love Romney to get the Rep nomination because the Clintons will beat him in a heartbeat!
VOTE MCCAIN if you DON”T WANT THE CLINTONS IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
What does it take to be a “front-runner?”
Hold the majority of the popular vote, not just polls.
Hold the majority of the delagates, not jut polls.
Romney checks on both accounts. He is the front-runner, but no one seems to want to give it up to him.
Ok, so im a conservative republican, not a neocon. So what happends if we republicans elect Mit to run on our presidential ticket?
1. A good amount of the christian vote will go to the democrats, due to Romney being involved in what is defined as a cult (mormonism), or at least the christian republicans see it that way.
2. Everyone that is sick of big business lobbying will probably feel like jumping off a bridge into traffic or something to that effect when having the choice between the democrat and Romney.
3. All the supposed intellectuals in the republican party will probably start to get the feeling that they are going to also jump off a bridge into traffic when they realize that its inevitable we will have a women or african as presidents.
So long america, Hello media controlled state!
VOTE FOR MIT, DEATH TO AMERICA!*
*Sarcasm
Carl Cameron has a bias against Romney. I use to be a Fox fan but I no longer can stand to watch the news because of the bias displayed by people like Cameron. Fox is not the fair and balanced station and after this experience of following the Romney campaign I believe the media is untrustworthy.
Carl, thanks for a pro-Romney post, now that Floridians are giving him more support. I was beginning to think you were biased toward Huckabee & McCain.
Go to MichelleMalkin to see how McCain is connected to George Soros!
C’mon America, this one is not that hard to figure out! Mitt is far and away the best candidate we’ve got! Vote Romney!
I am an independent who agrees with everything Willie says above about Mitt Romney. He is clearly a great man and perhaps the most presidential I have seen in my lifetime (of 50 years). If you are a republican, I highly recommend that you vote for him.
That said, after the disaster of the last eight years, and as much as I admire Romney, I just can’t vote for a republican. I am happy to say that I didn’t vote for Bush either time — at least that isn’t on my conscience — and I just don’t want to take the chance that the source of his mistakes was more than his personal boneheadedness, that it was at least partially due to his unyielding, uncompromising right wing conservatism. I believe this country needs a good dose of moderation right now, of common sense and clear thinking and non-partisanship. Perhaps there are others like myself who don’t fall neatly into the two camps…?
Check out this video of JOHN MCCAIN ENDORSING MITT ROMNEY!

Another flip-flop “my dear friend”?
Romney will turnaround the economy by selling our country to the highest bidder. The office is another investment for him.
Ron Paul is a very serious and very strong candidate.
Wow. Fox News actually publishing something favoring Mitt Romney over John McCain. Fox News pundits have always fawned over John McCain, but not as bad as Huckabee’s blatherings (Get a room!). Huckabee’s PDA for McCain gross me out and should be blocked by censors.
I am a Soldier at Fort Bragg and served in Afghanistan. I do NOT support McCain. I already cast my absentee ballot in Florida for Romney. We need someone that can fix Washington and lower taxes. I think Romney can do it.
I am waiting to see if Gov. Romney makes the most of the opportunity to capitalize on Sen. McCain brining Dr. Juan Hernandez onboard his campaign as his Hispanic outreach director, as Michelle Malkin has uncovered.
The campaign blog of McCain’s own daughter has a picture of Juan Hernandez and Mark MacKinnon, along with McCain’s daughter at a campaign event.
So much for McCain having learned from his past transgressions and saying he is going to secure our borders, when he has brought a blatant open borders advocate/mouthpiece onboard his campaign.
We have an opportunity to elect a person with integrity, vision and proven capability. Set aside petty bigotries and lets get behind the best candidate. He’s the one who looks, feels and acts like a President. You know who it is.

This traitor is trying to hijack the conservative party.
MITT ROMNEY IS A FRAUD!!! I live in MA while he was governor in 2003 and he was a liberal. He was pro-choice, soft on illegal immigration, pro gay unions, poor job growth, high spending etc etc. To hear him present himself 5 years later as a Reagan conservative is an absolute JOKE. He is pandering to the conservatives just to get their vote. He is a political opportunist and a TOTAL FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!
To Willie:
“He is not a sound-bite candidate, but a man with a plan.” Your entire POST is nothing but sound bites – you’ve said nothing! A man with a plan – what the heck does that MEAN? Are you seriously considering voting for the guy because he says he “has a plan” and “believes in the Constitution”? These are statements with no meaning, no context.
I weep for the future, folks, I really do.
Nice article- many comments suggest Cameron is biased against Romney.
Look at his blog article history and read the headlines. This latest article is a big contrast. I don’t know if the clue-bat just hit him or what.
I have read all of Cameron’s blogs back as far as they go. I have also read most of them. Headlines are mostly “attention getters” and harsh on the candidates. All of the Mitt Romney articles up to this point have been ant so far. It is interesting also that the majority of the headlines contain information about Romney, Huck is second and Mcain on got a one or 2 headlines. This pattern shows an attack on Romney and Huck in my opinion. Mitt by far gets the most negative headlines and articles followed by Huck. Nothing on Mccain or Paul. It appears Fox isn’t covering other candidates. I don’t have time right now, but I challenge someone to put a report together of all the blogs shown here. It goes back 5 pages of blogging. Come to your own conclusion on who is attacking Romney.
i gues your not taking anymore comment. Stopped at 6:55 in the morning. Its great that you encourage comments for those who wake up before 7 AM. Go Cameron. I guess the blog filter guys just can’t keep up. Well for whoever reads this, if anyone ever does. I hope you vote for Mccain.
Very good article.
Mitt truly is the last hope for the republican party. He can definitely beat Hillary. If you look at the head to head polls with Romney against Hillary you can see how quickly he is rising:
Date: Comparison to Hillary
1/9 Hillary wins by 18%
1/10 Hillary wins by 12%
1/18 Hillary wins by 11%
1/21 Hillary wins by 5%
Date: Comparison to Obama
1/9 Obama wins by 22%
1/10 Obama wins by 30%
1/18 Obama wins by 11%
1/21 Obama wins by 9%
After a victory in FL and a good showing at Super Tuesday, Romney will be able to crush any democrat he runs against.
America is just now getting to know the greatness of Mitt Romney.
GO MITT!
Let me first preface my comments by saying that I am a Mormon from Salt Lake City. I really believe that Dr. Paul most certainly is in the same league as all other candidates. He most likely has the most cash on hand and continues to have a broad base of support. He is also the only candidate gaining momentum (Huckabee has gone down since Iowa, Guiliani has consistently gone down, and McCain has gone down quite a bit as well. Mitt came in 3rd in Louisiana, right behind Ron Paul).
One of the main reasons why Mitt won Wyoming and Nevada is because they are caucus style. Over 1/2 of Romney’s votes came from Mormons, who mobilize very well. Michigan also catered well to Romney as he made extravagant promises to the ailing auto industry. Besides, Michigan residents remember Romney’s father, so that helped him get a bump.
Mormons use the same hierarchy that exists in our religion to dig deep to finance their candidate and they certainly mobilize well politically. Mormons are used to donating; they give 10% of all their income as tithing to their church. I believe that many Mormons who support Romney, even though they might not say it, tend to view him as a religious leader as much as a political one. That is, Mormons feel that they have been slighted in so many ways, now that a Mormon president is a very real possibility; they are rallying behind him almost blindly. No one knows this more than I, since I am a Mormon and have a very difficult time getting my Mormon friends to even consider voting for a true conservative suck as Dr. Ron Paul.
All of the phone calls being made to Florida Republican voters are coming from the Utah and the Mormon political machine. Trust me, I know because I get Mitt’s spam all the time (somehow my email address from the college Republican club made it into Romney’s database!)
Will someone in the media PLEASE ask John McCain why he has a former Mexican cabinet member working for him and his institute? Why is Juan Hernandez out on his campaign advising him on amnesty?
Another internet hoax, you say? Please verify with michellemalkin.com you can pictures of this guy that are linked from McCain’s daughter’s blog.
McAmnesty is selling us out. He didn’t change, he still believes that the American worker won’t work–that’s why he sold out Michigan and doesn’t believe that we work. Just because he hasn’t worked for nearly 30 years doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t
Please, verify it yourself, go to her website, if you are in Florida, please follow John McCain, film it, ask him who this guy is, what his opinion is toward illegal aliens and why a former cabinet member of another country is working for you!?!!?
Carl, please ask this yourself.
We can not sell out our country!
romney would be the best…hard worker, great experience and good family values which this country needs badly
I think it was so clear from the debate last night and the smart campaign that Carl described above, that Mitt Romney will be the frontrunner. I have been disgusted frankly, that people would even make the Mormon religion an issue in this contest. Mitt is a good man with family values who really does promote the conservative principles of the party. I have a really hard time putting my support behind someone like McCain who embodies all of the elements of Washington that I would like changed. I think Romney is the strongest and most intelligent candidate to not only beat the Clinton machine, but really affect change in Washington.
Finally Cameron!! It’s about time you give Romney the credit he deserves.
Mitt will win Florida!
As a conservative (Reagan) republican, I’ve decided like many others including Mr. Rush Limbaugh Never, Ever, would I vote for McCain. He’s a disgrace to the conservative party. I’d rather have Billary screw up the country for four years- so we could fire up the republicans again and vote in a true conservative republican as President four years later.
McCain will never get my vote.
Romney all the way!!
Carl Cameron: Another question about objectivity (their way), do you have any, sir? There is always the question of whether or not you are in fact fair.
Clearest way to put a democrat in the White House is to have anyone other than McCain the GOP nominee…
Here some videos about Mitt to help everybody decide by themself and not by the media.
Mitt Romney likes government regulation of guns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk1bJOpYUqE
Mitt the flip-flopper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9IJUkYUbvI
Mitt Romney has a truth problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeP5A5cczqk
Mitt Romney and Ted Kennedy are buddies and think alike politically: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4r9dMP21hM
Its nothing personal. I just am a little irritated by the obvious Pro-Mitt supporters who haven’t seemed to do much homework. If after going thru all of that, and you still support him – great. I just feel that its probably a good measure to ’see’ what you are voting for – not TOLD who to vote for based on lies.
Carl,
Mitt’s moment came as he was questioned once again about his religion, and the answerhe gave was evasive, and a slap in the face to the Christian people that believe that we answer to God before we answer to a Goverment or anything elsefor that matter….He said in affect that this shouldn’t matter…..well I assure you that when we breathe our last breath and are going to face the Lord,we have to be accountable to God,not the government or Mitt Romney…..I don’t care what Mitt Romey thinks should,be or not be when deciding who will run this country, that is still “UNDER GOD”….There are many out here that feel the same way,and it should be told….its also understandable that something like this would come out of his mouth, because their once ..Living Pophet..and founder Joseph Smith, said in the writings in the “History of the Church,Vol.6,pp.408-09..”I have more to boast than ever any man Had.I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole Church together since the datys of Adam. A large majorty of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul,John Peter, nor even Jesus, ever did it. I boast that no mam ever did such a work as I…..Doesn’t this sound like the very thing that went on in heaven that caused Lucifer to be cast out This man Has raised himself above The Lord God….If Huckabee is required to answer about a wife being submissive then Romney shoul Have to spell out in more detail, just what his faith believes………Ezra taft Benson made remarks that the living pophet should not be tkenout of the Government….If so we should know from Romney just what affect “in detail”this will have on decision making….The Americam people deserve a full explanation
I can’t believe that someone actually accused Carl of being a Romney supporter. If anything, Carl, your bias against Romney is unbelievable. If a poll shows him ahead, you give every scenerio which would make it meaningless. You so do not want Romney to win that I think it has seriously affected your credibility. I think objective should be added to fair and balanced. If you can’t be objective, don’t cover the race, Carl. I mean really “DO NOT BE SHOCKED by a Rudy surge” and “McCain could EASILY win..” I love the caps to make sure we get your point, which once again is even though the polls are good, Romney isn’t going to win. Your wishful thinking should not be reported as serious political analysis. And even though you are probably exhausted, a little more substance to your reports would make them more interesting.
A survey of states by the National Conference of State Legislatures found Massachusetts led the nation during Romney’s first year, raising fees and fines by $501 million. New York was second with $367 million. Nine other states raised fees and fines by more than $100 million.
“We renamed him ‘Fee-Fee.’ He was so unwilling to raise taxes that he was wanting to put all these fees in place instead,” Hachey said.
“It’s a shell game,” said Julian Zelizer, professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University. “He (Mitt Romney) can still say he didn’t raise taxes, but fees are taxes by another name. It’s a trick.”
Romney’s fees could also grate on some of those he is courting as he seeking the GOP nomination, including gun owners.
Under Romney’s plan for Massachusetts, the cost of registering firearms would have jumped from $25 to $75. He also called for increases in the cost of firearm identification cards, application fees for a license to carry firearms, and gun dealer fees.
Gun owners said they felt unfairly targeted by Romney’s proposed increases. Democratic lawmakers applauded Romney’s proposal — ultimately raising the cost of gun licenses to $100.
“We certainly shouldn’t be paying anything for our Second Amendment right, because it’s a civil right,” said Jim Wallace, executive director of the Gun Owner’s Action League.
Boston.com – August 2007
Carl,
I can go to the the liberal press and expose your protection of Romney,if you don’t want to post what I have to say…but either way Romney has to be called out for that feeble effort he made explaining that what his faith doesn’t matter…..It matters simply because it was asked, and it was importnt to somebody…that somebody doesn’t need to be told by the person afraid to answer that it doesn’t matter….Huckabee had to answer questions put forth to him….Just what is it that Romney has to hide….Im not interested whether or not hE THINKS IT MATTERS OR NOT I’m the one that votes, and he’s the one asking for the votes….He needs to explain why the living Prophet in his faith can’t be taken out of polotics, instead of beating around the bush
I notice Romney is given more time than Ron Paul. I also notice how bias you are towards Ron Paul in the last Fox debate. You are not a journalist of America, you are in the wrong era. You and your type of journalism belongs to 3rd world dictatorial country. Maybe as Tony Soprano’s press secretary.
Oh My GOODNESS! Carl – that was actually fair and balanced reporting! It’s nice to know you’ve got it in you now that Mitt is lookin’ so good in Florida! Oh please, Carl Cameron, abandon the dark side and become a fair and balanced journalist again!
Mitt’s going to win Florida! I saw him at the Rally in Pensacola, FL today and the audience was charged! Many FredHeads came to be inspired – and they WERE – they carried Romney signs home with them!
“Ron Paul is not a serious candidate.”
I keep hearing this about him and I’m baffled. He’s the only real Republican running, the only Republican antiwar candidate (70% of us want out of Iraq), he’s set at least three fundraising records, and come in SECOND PLACE in two primaries.
He has a freaking BLIMP! His people volunteer in droves. He’s had more songs written about him than any other candidate. There are more lawn signs out for him than all the other candidates COMBINED! He ALWAYS ranks highly after the televised debates. He has by far the most meetup groups, more than all the rest combined.
He’s honorable. His ideas are clearly stated and he’s not a flip flopper. He’s been a responsible legislator for decades. He embodies pro-life Christian values. There is almost no dirt to dig up on him so detractors have nothing to fall back on than the completely illogical “guilt by association” canard.
Yet people still blather on about he’s not a serious candidate.
HOW can people be so . . . DUMB? My God is this a country of morons? Let’s put someone in the White House with integrity for once. Really. We can do this. Sweet Jeebuz on a cracker people are dense, maybe we DO get the government we deserve. What a shame.
I agree that Cameron’s blog is refreshing. It feels more like a friend letting you know what they saw first hand. I loved this last debate because it was so civil. There is no need for the candidates to paint each other as evil-doers, each of them (including Ron Paul
is a patriot with good intentions for this country, they just have a few differences. No need to make it personal. Having said that, Mitt Romney is the intelligent candidate this country needs. When was the last time we had someone in the White House who was genuinely intelligent and well-versed? It’s been awhile. He knows the issues and has thorough and well thought out answers for policy questions, it’s wonderful! I believe he can win in a fight against Hillary, and I think he will!
I have gone back and forth, but now I’m absolutely committed:
MITT FOR PRESIDENT!!
Romney turned a 3 billion dollar deficit into a 1 billion dollar surplus, while lowering taxes, and getting healt care for everyone in Mass. He turned down his salary as head of the olympics and as governor. He knows how to take organizations that are disorganized and restructure them so that they run more efficiently. We need this man in Washington! It’s time for the Republican party to rally around Mitt Romney.
When I look at the candidates, one of the most important traits I look for is integrity. Having integrity doesn’t mean a candidate can’t change his mind. In fact a person with real integrity will admit if he is wrong and change. Mitt Romney has done this. He has the highest integrity of all the candidates. Sadly, the leading candidate from the other party has lost her integrity time and time again and continues to do so–has done so for at least the last 16 years. Some of the other candidates have very strong points, but I have to say the Mitt Romney is the one real leader with the integrity AND the leadership skills AND the experience and know-how to get this country changed around.
While I’m not a Ron Paul supporter, I think it’s APPALLING the way the media is leaving he and Mike Huckabee out of the picture. Hello! These guys were at the debate as well.
Last night’s debate was so far skewed towards McCain & Romney…what was the deal with giving ALL the time to them to talk. And what’s up with the question directed at Huckabee over whether he thought McCain was too old to be president because of something CHUCK NORRIS said. C’mon, THIS is the kind of question that needs to be asked to determine the next president? Or what about asking Huckabee about whether or not he “trusted” Romney…what does that have to do with anything? Why not ask where Huckabee stands on the issues that matter to America. If he gives a bad answer, then people won’t vote for him. The fact is, the moderators don’t want to ask Huckabee a serious question because they KNOW he is brilliant with his responses, he can think on his feet ten times better than most of the candidate on that stage, and he actually sounds like a genuine person with common sense ideas/solutions and not some rote politician. He’s an EXCELLENT communicator and that has the media running scared.
I am SO disappointed in Fox News lately…fair and balanced, my foot. I know last night’s debate was put on by MSNBC and some of those questions were asked by Floridian media sources, but you would think that someone at Fox News would speak out on the unfair & unbalanced presentation of the debate instead of glorifying the candidate that was marked to shine.
It is well known by now that Dr. Paul (who has written 6 books on economics) and stands head and shoulders over the other candidates as an economist. Why do you think the ‘cool’ candidates denigrate him (except for Huckabee who copies his homework)? Every other candidate speaks in vague generalities.
Dr. Paul WILL put thousands of REAL dollars in YOUR pocket. Wanna see how?
Dr. Paul’s 4 point economic stimulus plan even includes legislation and is viewable online. Just click on my name!
We can either bring the GOP together with a solid candidate like Mitt, or we can cede the election to Hillary for nominating McCain. This one’s a no-brainer, people.
McCain is a career politician, a DC insider that will continue to give the same service we been receiving. Has everyone forgotten his attempt last summer to pal with Kennedy and hand out US citizenship? He WILL do it again.
Romney has the best rating of all the candidates at Numbers USA’s website concerning immigration. Do we really want to tempt fate by giving McCain the amnesty wand as President?
Don’t be stupid. Vote Romney. McCain has had over TWENTY YEARS to do something for the people. He hasn’t. Romney owes nothing to the elitist establishment in DC. McCain seizes every opportunity to team up with bi-partisan colleagues that betray conservative principles.
McCain’s time has come and gone. That’s his fault. America deserves Mitt Romney, so let’s not settle for anything less……..
Florida…do the right thing! Vote for the next 44th President of United States…Mitt Romney!
Carl,
With Bush unable to run again, who is your wife planning to campaign for this cycle? Me thinks I see I seat being saved on the Romney express!
You are as articulate and professional as you are objective.
Carl Cameron has been bias towards Romney and promoting McCain for months. After following MR campaign I no longer think that Fox news is Fair and Balance. The media can’t be trusted. We must gather our facts from more than one source. Fox news has really let me down.
I have been posting comments objecting to the coverage of Mitt Romney and Fox news will not put them up.
Tim up above has broken it down and simplified the GOP field for us to make our selection process easy for us, thank you Tim, and here it is:
“-McCain is noticeably old, and divorced his wife for a younger, better-connected, and wealthier woman. He is also bitterly opposed by the party core.
-Huckabie makes crazy foreign policy errors and has a son who tortured and hung a dog at summer camp, and then was recently caught with weapons in an airport.
-Giuliani’s sexual escapades and vengeful behavior as mayor make him a horrible general election candidate–not mentioning his feud with the NYFire Department, who believe his 9-11 actions left much to be desired.”
and the top reason not to vote for someone…
“-Ron Paul is not a serious candidate”
Well Tim, maybe I’m stretching a little out of my area of expertise to throw my critical analysis into this to say… “Shut up, you are not a serious voter”
Not a Washington Insider, Romney has a sophisticated understanding of the challenges we face in both the national and global economies. He is highly educated and successful leader in business making money by turning around floundering companies such as Staples and helping to produce hundreds of thousands of jobs, understands the importance of people, organization, research, planning, communication and direction. While Governor of the mostly Democrat Massachusetts, he brought the fractured constituencies together and they became the first state with a universal health care plan that seems to work. He took no salary at all as Governor because as he said, I have enough. He lowered state taxes. Increased funding for education, while he was governor, Massachusetts students ranked #l in the nation in education. Increased penalties on drunk driving. Never supported the release of criminals convicted of serious crimes. Never was first to bring up religion. As governor he kept his promise not to attack anyone’s right to choice of lifestyle or abortion. He turned around MA’s economy from deficit to surplus, balancing their budget in less than 4 years. How dare he do his job well and for no pay on top of it!!! When the Salt Lake City Olympics crumbled under corruption/scandal and financial disaster he went to Salt Lake, took over for a one dollar salary, saved the Olympics and made it profitable. He led a massive security mobilization at the Olympics in the wake of the 9/11 attack and, as governor, helped build up Massachusetts’ homeland security efforts. He supports a strong military. He is concerned about illegal immigration and what it means to the security of the United States. He wants to retool America and bring the jobs back home. I can certainly understand left wingers hating Romney, after all he’s been married to the same woman. He’s from a close knit family and values family first. He was class valedictorian at BYU, MBA and LAW degree from Harvard. Regarding his flip-flopping on big issues? He may have flipped but not flopped! Everyone, and that means everyone in politics makes mistakes, gets to change their mind once after gaining more knowledge, and most politicians seem to change more than once. Stand all of the candidates up next to each other in a direct comparison of what they really have done and then vote for the best person to make good change and run the country in the right direction.
The only Republican who can beat Hillary is John McCain. The Democrats know it, and they fear him. I hope the Republicans wake up soon. Mitt can’t do it. Rudy won’t have the opportunity. The rest of them are not relevant.
What McCain has is called “Moral authority” and “moving to the middle.” And that’s why he is the only one who can save the republican party in 2008 in a country fiercely and relentlessly tired of Republicans and the Bush administration.
If you want to keep the White House, support John McCain. It’s really as simple as that.
They don’t take Ron Paul seriously out of any disrespect. They don’t take him seriously because he is a loon.
If Mitt Romney is elected, perhaps he’ll manage the U.S. as he did the companies he would buy and turn around. After slashing costs and underperforming units he could generate a profit from the remaining assets. I guess his first act as President would be to put underperforming Michigan for sale to the highest bidder. Maybe the Japanese would put in a bid.
Romney is my choice. Those who perceive him as a flip-flopper may need to listen to his positions a little closer. He has never supported abortion. His religion considers the practice an abomination. He did however, support a woman’s right to make that terrible mistake at her own choosing. He claims to have changed his opinion on a woman having that right and I believe him. He governed arguably the most liberal state in the country as conservatively as possible, finding a creative solution to the healthcare dilemma in his state, and opposing the legalization of gay marriage with vigor. I was in Utah during the Olympic scandal and he was absolutely the driving force in “fixing” the games.
Mike Huckabee, on the other hand governed a conservative (although Democratic) state as a moderate at best. True, he never wavered on abortion, but can anyone call his positions on illegal immigration or taxes conservative? And his underhanded attacks on Romney’s religion are despicable.
John McCain has my respect for what he survived in Vietnam but very little else. He has continually undermined the party and President on issues I feel are vital to the country. I don’t need to list them as we are all well aware of what they are. What has he done to deserve this nomination?
To put it in terms Mike Huckabee would understand… “By their fruits ye shall know them”.
I’m voting for Romney.
I hope Florida voters watched the GOP debate last night. Mitt Romney was the clear winner! He nailed every question. I think that people are finally seeing Mitt Romney for the inspiring conservative leader he is. He speaks with conviction from the heart, something that I didn’t see as much from the other candidates last night. He did so well last night that even the liberal media couldn’t deny it. Is this man presidential of what? GO MITT!!!
Folks,
Most of you are, sadly, right about Carl’s reporting. But this is bigger than just Carl. It effects the entire way FOX is covering this election so far. I sure hope they re-tool after Super Tuesday causing they are seriously lacking.
McCain – Sold out the Repbulican party long ago. Look at the new Romney AD. McCain even opened dialog about “crossing over” with the Democrats. Nope putting him in would be like electing the DEMS best friend.
Huckabee – I’m not sure this man has ever truely been a Republican. Southern Democrat yes, but not a Republican. Talks a nice game and seems like a wonderful guy, but so does John Edwards. Look at the person and his record but then look at his family.
Guiliani – Love the guy for what he did for NYC, but he too has fidelity problems and his record isn’t truely republican either. I’m afraid he hasn’t got the character for the big chair.
Ron Paul – You know, every time I listen to him speak, I have an irristable urge to set down with him on his front porch, share a mint julip or two and listen to him ramble on and on. But when it comes time to leave I’d just shake my head and say; “you know if this was the 1930’s that old codger might actually make some sense”. The really sad thing is that all of the digital freaks (and I mean that in the kindest of ways) he has working for him don’t really have a clue what he’s talking about.
MITT is our man!
After all he is America’s Dad!
To this point in the race, Gov. Romney has won the most states, received the most delegates, and gotten the most votes overall.
But I agree that a win in FL will FINALLY solidify his position as the party’s front-runner and its eventual nominee.
As one author wrote, If the Republicans nominate the Democrat’s Republican, John McCain, merely because they think he can beat Hillary, it would be worse than possibly losing to the Democrats it would be like committing suicide. If the Republicans were to nominate Sen. McCain, they would essentially be nominating a candidate who shares none of their views.
With Gov. Huck, many Republicans are drawn to his positions on social issues. But economically, he is further left than Lennon. And he has not demonstrated nearly any knowledge of foreign relations.
But with Gov. Romney, Republicans have the “complete package.” He is conservative on defense, social, and economic issues.
Carl Cameron is correct that his campaign is doing well in FL because he has, by far, the most economic experience among his Republican counterparts.
If the Republicans want to win in Nov. they need a candidate like Mitt Romney who is articulate and intelligent. The Republicans have needed a leader for a long time who can both effectively lead as well as convey conservatism to the people.
Carl,
excuse those rude comments, they are just angry Ronpaulians…. no respect.
You are right on. Mitt has run the best campaign by far. He is the ultimate marathon runner. He always does the best job he can. Thats why he needs to be our president. He has the integrity, guts, and smarts to be the Reagan of the new millenium. He is a truly moral person and if we can give him our fullest trust he will not let us down.
T Queisser, Carl has been consistent in his dismissing and minimizing of Romney. I was shocked to read this positive article. It’s a little rambling. for Carl. Still, I like concession speeches with a little gushing and bowing.
RAY you are so right. It was ABSOLUTELY about time for Carl to face reality. But, WOW, I have never seen such criticism for his literary skills. Totally unfounded. I like sentence fragments. But now that I think about it, — Carl praising Romney — Carl rambling on — maybe Carl didn’t write this after all.
Check out the http://fivebrothers.mittromney.com/ Rudy Giuliani’s old Corvair is up for sale on eBay. The brothers are talking about buying it and showing up on the campaign trail just to see Rudy’s face. Someone suggested they put “Romney 08″ stickers on it. It’s great to have some genuine fun and pranks in a tense, close political campaign.
Carl,
It’s good to see you come back to a more “fair and balanced” center, and off the anti-Romney inuendo. Good for you. Indeed, Romney is working hard and doing a good job to share his message, and the recent polls reflect how Floridians feel about him. I expect that he will do very well on Tuesday, likely to win the majority of the strong conservative base who represent traditional Republic principles. We really need a President who is intelligent, well educated, and articulate; someone who can rally Congress and the Senate to work together to address the domestic and foreign policy issues that face us. Mitt Romney is the right leader.
nice
It is not just Mitt’s moment. It is all of ours that is at stake at the moment. Regardless if Mitt wins or loses, he will enjoy prosperity the rest of his life.
As for the majority of americans, we depend on a good healthy economy to keep us afloat. With high gasoline prices, soaring health care costs, a looming recession, issues with social security, a huge deficit, we need a financial genius to fix the mess that we are in.
Mitt Romney has shown time and time again that he understands economics and how to turn businesses around. We desperately need him to fix our economy so we too can enjoy some level of prosperity. Go Mitt !! And than you for being willing
Why does john mcCain have a former Mexican National member on his staff, excuse me, now “volunteer”
?????
McAmnesty is for open borders, just like Juan Hernandez. Check out Michelle Malkin–
National Director of Hispanic Outreach is none other that Dr. Juan Hernandez.
Research that!
I can not believe it, but, considering McCAin/Kennedy and the amnesty for illegal aliens, I can.
He has sold us out to Mexico.
January 25, 2008
Ask John McCain about his Hispanic outreach director, Juan Hernandez (former Mexican government official)
John McCain’s Hispanic outreach director [1] is Juan Hernandez, a U.S.-Mexico dual citizen and former Mexican government official who said the following in 2001 about Mexican immigrants to the U.S.:
“I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think ‘Mexico first.’”
He also said [2]:
“We must not only have a free flow of goods and services, but also start working for a free flow of people.”
Now, he’s working for John McCain.
However, what McCain knows is that no one in the MSM is ever going to question his hiring accepting the volunteer efforts of [3] a pro-open borders Mexican partisan and former Mexican government official. Based on his easy deflection of immigration questions – and the fact that almost no one has put his responses on video sharing sites (except, as far as I know, back in June), and the fact that the MSM covers for him – he knows he’ll never get blowback from this.
So, that means it’s up to you. If you want to sink McCain’s candidacy, go to his campaign events and read those quotes to him and ask him to renounce them and fire dump Hernandez [3]. Then, upload his response to video sharing sites.
More on this here, here, here, and here.
Hernandez was previously Director of the Office for Mexicans Living Abroad until there was apparently some sort of falling out involving him or someone else. That office then became the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, with several of their members involved in pushing Mexico’s agenda in the U.S. An Illinois state senator, Democrat Martin Sandoval, even serves on their board while at the same time pretending to serve U.S. interests.
UPDATE: Jerome Corsi offers this:
McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers emphasized to WND that Hernandez is “a non-paid volunteer to the campaign, and he does not play a policy role.”
“Juan works with us to reach out to the Hispanic community to meet with the folks in the various states,” Rogers said.
Asked if the McCain campaign has repudiated Hernandez’s “Mexico first” declarations, Rogers did not give a direct answer.
Let’s hope he stands by him a little longer, but even if he throws him overboard you can still ask him what he was thinking.
UPDATE 2: More on this here.
A roundup of his cable TV greatest hits is here; it includes him promoting a North American security cordon – just not a Union – as well as cheap vegetables. So-far-unwatched videos that might have something are here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. If he says something on those that can be incorporated into an anti-McCain video, please leave a comment.
You can hear his 2001 Nightline quote here.
From 2001 (link):
“I never knew the border as a limitation. I’d be delighted if all of us could come and go between these two marvelous countries,” Hernandez, 45, said in a recent interview…
“Those who don’t like [my activities with the Office and his dual citizenship], I’m sorry. But there are 20 million of us,” Hernandez said. “There are 20 million people that have one foot here and one foot there.”
…Hernandez has lobbied to make life easier for Mexican migrants in the United States. He has worked to cut the costs of money transfers, helped win lower tuition at Texas state universities and urged U.S. states to loosen restrictions on drivers’ licenses [in addition to less controversial proposals]…
From 2002:
Writing in National Review (October 12, 1998) Jorge Amselle (like Linda Chavez, a pro-immigration Latino Republican) warned that, “The Mexican government through its promotion of bilingual education and of dual nationality and voting is actively subverting the assimilative process of Americanization….”
Amselle was referring to the official Mexican government policy of acercamiento (”getting closer” or “establishing a bond”) to “Mexican communities abroad,” meaning both Mexican citizens living in the United States and Mexican Americans who are U.S. citizens. This policy was started by the old PRI regime and has been considerably expanded by Fox. The spirit of this policy is exemplified by Juan Hernandez, a Texas-born Mexican-American dual citizen, who is Fox’s cabinet minister for Mexicans Abroad…
…Two years ago, before Fox became president, his current national-security adviser, Adolfo Aguilar Zinser, advocated a policy in which the Mexican government would work politically with the “20 million Mexicans” in the U.S. to advance Mexican “national interests.” In El Siglo de Torreon on May 5, 2000, Zinser attacked American attempts to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border. He declared that “Mexicans are subjected every day to mean-spirited acts and their rights are permanently threatened by ambitious politicians who are hunting for the Anglo vote.” After disparaging the “reactionary Senator Jessie Helms,” Zinser recommended that Mexico “find allies in the U.S. political system” particularly among “Liberal Democrats, labor unions, civil rights organizations, and social movements.”

[3] Let’s take John McCain’s spokesman at his word that Hernandez is a “non-paid volunteer” to the campaign. Being very precise will also help avoid McCain trying to obfuscate the issue. Note that, as pointed out at the first link in UPDATE 2, Hernandez is a Senior Fellow at the McCain-linked Reform Institute, and I’d imagine he’s receiving some money for that. However, if you ask McCain about this craft the question in such a way that he can’t raise minor points.
Mitt is the most electable candidate of the republican party. I hope the Floridian will unite behind Mitt.
Now, Carl…Hillary win over Romney??? That arguement is a bit out-dated. Have you been watching the news or the polls lately? Hillary is not doing well. Here popularity is low and her recent cat fight with Obama has brought it even lower. Have you seen the movie Stardust with Michelle Phifer? She plays a powerful witch that grows more ugly and horrid the more she exercises her evil powers. She’s a wonderful metaphore for Hillary. Her true colors are shining brightly – and they’re ugly. Romney is her polar opposite. I simply don’t believe people will choose name recognition over proven skill, competence and integrity.
[...] read this crap column from Fox News. I loved reading the reader comments. This one perfectly displays what’s wrong with the [...]
Nominating John McCain would be like putting-up Bob Dole all over again. The guy is too old and lacks real energy. The contrast in personal energy between him and Romney is telling. He’s only energized now that he has a chance to win. Earlier, he was practically asleep in some of the debates. He lost to Bush because of his poor debate performance in 2000, and Hillary would kill him with her detailed knowledge. Romney is relentlessly gaining on the Democrats in the national polls. He was largely unknown nationally until a month or two ago. He was running about 20 points behind Hillary, and now is only down about 11. If he wins Florida, he’ll be only about 5 or 6 points behind. His economic experience cannot be matched by either Hillary or Obama. He’ll win that narrative hands down, and “It’s the economy, stupid.”
Mitt Romney is starting to become the candidate I have been looking for him to be. Of all the Presidential candidates he has grown the most during the campaign. He is finding his comfort zone with the issues and the image he portrays. I think that he is going to get progressively tougher as the primaries roll on.
I think that Huckabee just doesn’t have the cash to keep going and Florida is his last hurrah. Guliani is virtually done without a Florida win. He is already becoming a fringe candidate. What a huge fall from the favorite status he enjoyed before the primaries started.
Florida is a big deal for McCain as well. If Mitt Romney wins Florida then he will gain significant momentum going into Super-Tuesday. It would stop any momentum that McCain has gotten from South Carolina and probably hurt McCain’s ability to raise money for the big Super-Tuesday crunch. Romney already can afford to advertise more than McCain even if he doesn’t win. Across 20 states at once that is huge. McCain needs the bump Florida will give him or he is in big trouble I feel.
Overall, I think we need to get ready to support Mitt Romney as the Republican Presidential candidate.
Some of you are being so mean to poor Carl I feel like I have to defend him. I remind you folks that this is a blog, not a news story. This is where you come when you want to hear the behind the scenes, the opinions, the tidbits. The straight news is on tv. He probably writes these on his crackberry, hence the hurried style. Lighten up! This is supposed to be fun!
Back on topic, I have already decided to vote for Romney, but if I had any misgivings about McCain being more electable they would have been dashed by the endorsement of the NY Times. If they’re for him, I’m against him. I have to laugh when I hear people like Kirsten Powers say the Dems are afraid of McCain. How unfair if we have to choose between Hillary and John McCain! They’re both mean, angry, and old. Even the people who vote for them don’t like them. And they both hate Rush, talk radio, and Fox News! It’d be funny if it wasn’t so awful!
what some don’t know is that south Fl. has more Millionaires per sq. mile than any other place on earth. Why would it surprise that they are buying the state for one of their own? People, have we forgotten the Gore/ Bush debaucle already? Fl. has quickly moved up into the ranks of corrupt politics with IL. and LA. IMO of course.
What a worn-out, tiresome characterization! “Sure [Romney] has probably spent more than $30 million of his own money but since when is personal wealth (and spending it) a problem among republicans?” Oh, very clever! I guess Democrats shun candidates with personal wealth. John Kerry? Ted Kennedy? John “Jay” Rockefeller? Even John Edwards? I guess the Republican Party is the party of the wealthy class. Hmm? A CNN.com posting in 2003 by Sean Loughlin and Robert Yoon reported the following interesting facts: “The top three wealthiest senators are Democrats: John Kerry of Massachusetts, with a net worth of at least $164 million; Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, with a net worth of at least $111 million, and John “Jay” Rockefeller of West Virginia, with an estimated net worth of at least $82 million.” At that time, 8 out of the 10 wealthiest Senators were Democrats! And look a map of red and blue states. Surprise! California and New York seem to have a few Democrat leaders. Like “poor” Hillary. I suppose her support comes only from the poor and middle-class.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS IN FLORIDA?
Does anyone have any info on which way the early ballots are leaning? They were available at the end of 12/07 and as of 1/10/08 182,000 Republicans requested one. As a Giuliani supporter I’m hoping he grabbed a few votes before his nosedive in the polls. Are there any pollsters looking into early voter trends in Fla?
We are always saying “God Bless America”. If Mitt Romney wins this presidental race God will have surely “Blessed America”.
Mitt ought to win Florida. There was a guy on the stage with Mitt who reminded me of the 90’s and those famous words, “Who am I?” “What am I doing here?” You can guess who.
Mitt has the centrist message for the republican party, unlike this other one in particular who taken a vocal stance on a very, very unpopular issue.
If Romney wins Florida. You republicans are doomed. McCain is the only one that stands a chance against Clinton and Obama in the General Election. Romney would lose by double digits.
ROMNEY–ONLY ONE CLOSE TO THOMPSON….RON PAUL?- (NO MORE GOV. IN YOUR LIVES) GOSH..MORTGAGE FRAUD? NEED GOV TO STEP IN–DISASTER? NEED GOV TO STEP IN-NATURAL DISASTERS EVERY DAY? -NEED GOV TO STEP IN..WE CANT LIVE WITHOUT GOV. BAILOUT.!!…IT WILL TACK TAXES TO GET RID OF ILLEGALS.!…MC CAMNESTY.? NO WAY..!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t get caught up in the petty stuff!
As a conservative I try to live by honesty. I know that all conservatives will know what I’m saying when I say that there is an internal compass that we live by that will tell us if something is right or wrong. As little tikes we all knew if we were telling the truth or doing right or wrong! Right? That’s what we have to live by when we educate ourselves and ask ourselves what is important to us all. I know I have children that, I hope, will have there own families, work hard, be responsible and teach their children to do the same.
To continue their future and the future of our freedom and happiness as a society we need strong families. We need to take the responsibilities of this life and great free land on our own shoulders.
To do this we need a leader that will allow us the people to assume that responibility. Keep Government where it belongs and not a socialistic society. I don’t want Washington or anyother society dictating my freedoms of my life or the life of my posterity. Washington is to facilitate our freedom. Our founding Fathers had it right and they lived by that internal compass! So let’s not give up on principle, family values and honesty!
Truth is Truth and has been forever, it can’t be changed so just go by your internal compass and just be honest! As for me and my family we will vote for Mitt!
Which current Republican Presidential candidate wanted to be John Kerry’s V.P.? Go to http://www.conservativesformitt.blogspot.com to find out.
There is another website that states that Juan Hernandez (open borders person that Fox has had on many times in the past) works for McCain’s campaign. Is that true?
This editorial was paid for by Mitt Romney and he agrees with it.
What bothers me is how all the media ASSume that Mike Huckabee is finished. You all give the so-called top two all the time in the world to spout their issues and drum it into people’s heads in order to brainwash them into thinking they are the only ones to consider, and the others are forgotten, tossed aside like yesterdays garbage. It is an agenda that is unfair and uamerican.
Carl,
Thank you for your piece on Romney’s moment. I like journalists who are fair,
but until today it seemed like you really hated Mitt. I didn’t hold it against you, but it did make it seemed like you were biased against him. You’ve had a number of “set-ups” in interviews and debates that just didn’t seem fair as you were not “setting-up” other candidates. I appreciate your fair look at Romney’s current prospects.
-Mark
Are we going to let Romney buy this election? He is outspending Huckabee 20-1 yet Huckabee is ahead of Romney in the national polls. There is a reason for that. Huckabee connects with the voters in a way that Romney never could. Huckabee is our best chance to win the general election in November!
Wouldn’t you “true” Republicans like to see someone in the general election take on the Billary’s who actually has family values? Romney has been married to “one” woman and has five sons who are working hard on their dads campaign.
Frankly, after the Clintons left the White House the last time I had to take a very long shower. Love or hate Bush, at least we’ve had a break from “interns’ and “perjury charges” and all the sliminess of the Clintonian era. I just don’t want to see that again and I think Romney is the statesman who will bring dignity to the White House.
hey, super carl, i got a scoop for,,,,,go to “theres more to romneys whisper” on you tube…its by tommyforhuckabee…..of all the videos, this one allows you to hear the “he raised taxes AND “i am not gonna” soon after….uphauled an sickened !!!!!
everyone, go to you tube and “theres more to the romney whisper” by TOMMYFRHUCABEE….i am not a huckabee supporter but this is the one video that clearly captures mitt cheating
I became a Mitt believer when I experienced first hand the 2002 Olympics that he led out of the mire. It was unbelievable how great was the uniting feeling that we felt there. His leadership skills and ability to unite groups of people behind him are remarkable. His character and history are excellent. Mitt is a focused family man who shows reverence to the all mighty God under whose hand this nation has flourished. He seems to hold near and dear to him the same principals that our founding fathers possessed. Read his speech again carefully on beliefs on separation of faith and statesmanship. There is no problem there. Last and perhaps least is the fact that he LOOKS like a President of the United States of America!
Let’s face it, McCain is just a pro-war liberal like Lieberman.
Immigration.
Taxes.
Judges.
Environment.
Campaign finance.
Energy tax.
Marriage amendment.
On all these issues, he’s adopted the ideology of Ted Kennedy and George Soros, rather than Reagan or George HW Bush.
Juan McCain is loved by the Clintons, the New York Times, Lieberman, Ted Kennedy and the entire liberal media.
He’s absolutely despised by basically every big-name conservative thinker and religious leader (who McCain famously called “the agents of intolerance”).
Don’t let this liberal version of Bob Dole make it as our nominee. He’ll get torn apart and his fragile health will probably wither.
Don’t let the liberal media pick our candidate for us.
Vote Mitt Romney to save our party!
Clinton made the comment that they were ‘good friends’ with McCain?? Also, if McCain were nominated the Presidential debates would be ‘civil’ ???? lol
Good strategy Bill…
Bill and Hillary both know that if McCain is nominated they will win hands down.
On the other hand they should be worried about Mitt Romney with his high standards, intelligence and experience … they would have their hands full. Romney is ready for it.. bring it!!!
Conservatives… save our Republican Party!!!! Revive our economy!!!
We the People want Mitt Romney!!!!
Carl,
WHY aren’t you reporting this VERY IMPORTANT info on John McCain?????????????????????????

Look it’s becoming clearer to me every day that McCain is going to win. When he comes up in the general election…….I’ll take his mom’s advice and hold my nose and pull the lever for him…..But I can’t help but feel that every one is trying to get him to be the candidate…..Press,Dems,NY Times…….what’s up?……….What’s wrong with Romney?………Is it because he’s a Mormon?…….I lived in MA for 2 years when he was there. I didn’t know what religion he was……….I get the feeling that it’s like Bob Dole all over again…….Also has anyone mentioned Ramos and Campeon (sp)
No question about it, Romney is the most presidential and electable one out there, Floridian, give Mitt a chance, he is the only one that has all the qualifications on all the issues. He can fix our economy, secure our borders and healthcare system etc…..
Vote for Romney.
Fox News, I love your station, rarely watch another, am familiar with all your News personalities.
You asked moments ago for thoughts about Romney vs. McCain. At one time I really liked McCain, a year ago I would have voted for him. But he is so full of snipes and anger, his attitude has changed his entire appearance. Half the time he wears a scowl. I don’t care about his military past anymore even though I love war stories about how this country was won.
McCain seems to me now to be a sour puss, filled with jealousy and contempt for a man who is kinder, more experienced, has a proven and committed past all the way around, who admits if he’s wrong and to top it all, who is richer and a whole lot better looking even though looks do not matter in a vote. Of course McCain dosen’t like Romney…Romney is everything McCain would like to be but can’t. If Mc Cain wins, I’ll support him because I will support the President of the United States. But I ain’t votin’ for him right now. Not until he surpasses Romney in all of the other attributes. Don’t see that happenin’
Not Afraid To Share My Opinion

Mitt Romney is going to win in Florida!!
His momentum is building, and his crowds are huge! His numbers are climbing steadily, and they’re not stopping anytime soon!
You can tell that McCain is is really getting worried by all of the attacking he’s been doing lately. Since he doesn’t have his own economic record to stand on, he’s trying to attack Romney’s. And he’s trying desperately to turn the conversation back to Iraq, because he admits “I really don’t know as much about the economy as I should”!
Conservatives have found their man—MITT ROMNEY IS GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!
Living in Georgia makes me happy that our primary isn’t untill Feb. 5th. I liked Mccain since he ran against George W. but eight years later(wiser) my views have changed a bit and now I’m glad I’ve gotten the chance to get a good luck at Mitt Romney. He really does seem to have it together. So without getting into to many boring specifics he is where I’m leaning. Besides that, being a transplant from New York, the Giulianni campaign has been such a disapointment. I really like the guy but the way he’s waited untill Florida to pick it up is very Clinton like.
Wow Carl. You’re sounding like you have some respect for Romney. It sounds a little shocking to us who think something miraculous has caused you to see the light. Romney is a class act. He’s not resorting to lies like the McCain group is trying to do.
Go Mitt!
Looks like Fox news will not print anything pro-McCain. How unsettling that none of my posts were printed. None of them violated any of the rules. Bleh. Fair and balanced my arse.
It’s been said before and it’s worth mentioning again: the problem with Mitt Romney (other than Mitt Romney) is the fact that hard-core conservatives will not vote for a Mormon. This HAS TO BE CONSIDERED while Republicans are choosing their candidate. I hear from many people every day who say they absolutely will not vote for a Mormon, even up against an ultra-liberal like Hillbilly (Hillary/Bill). I’ve been told they are voting their “principles”, principles I agree with (but NOT their stay-at-home vote for Hillbilly). The long-term picture here is a possible 8 years with Hillbilly. ANYONE, ANYONE, ANYONE is better than Hillbilly. But the fact remains for Republicans this November: choose Romney, and alienate a good portion of your conservative base. He will not win if they stay home, and they will.
McCain is a liberal … how do they say ‘posturing’ as a conservative… Huckabee as well.
Another thing Huckabee, something that is really beginning to bother me… there are many denominations/faiths and it seems you act as though you are the only man running that emraces God and has faith. That is not true by any means. Seems you are the only man of ‘faith’ that is using ‘religion’ to manipulate the people for votes… and that just isn’t right. The more you talk about it, the more offensive it becomes – but I guess you continue because you realize that what votes you do get seem to depend on it.
Mitt Romney is the only candidate that has high standards. He’s never been divorced (I think the only candidate), is true to his wife and family and will be true to his country. He has proven that he is responsible, dependable, true and has high standards. I am sure this will hold true with his Presidency. I trust him.
I appreciate very much the way Romney sticks to the issues and tries his best always to stay away from personal attacks – like Huckabee’s attack on McCain about his age through Norris. As much as I dislike McCain I think that jab was totally uncalled for – but typical of Huckabee – pretty sly that one.
Romney is successful as a family man and a business man. Something that a couple of other candidates have shown jealousy over – which is unbecoming of a Presidential candidate.
Romney has proven he is smart and has the know how, stamina and courage needed to bring this country together. We need someone on the government who will really care about us, and I believe him when he described how he felt horrible when it was necessary to call lay offs if a business venture happened to run into trouble. He’s the same man that shows up at the opening of a new business venture with pizza in hand for all the floor workers and joins in with them anticipating what the day would bring. He loves his family, he loves his job and he loves people.
I have no doubt that in his heart he wants us all to do well and have a good life.
Romney knows – and he cares – and I want him on our side fighting the fight for us.
Romney is an honorable man. I know that there would be nothing to be ashamed of if he represented the us as President of the United States. We could stand proud once again.
Mitt Romney believes in a nation under God – By the People and For the People…. there is no doubt.
Vote for Mitt Romney!!!!
I just wanted to comment on McCain’s statement contending that he is a leader and Romney is only a manager. In the political and business world a manager is picked because he has proven himself/herself to be a leader.
I hope Romney wins the nomination because we need a person who has proven himself to be a leader and an excellent manager. I also believe, because he is a man of intergity, that he can beat the democratic nominee. If he has to go against Hillary we can look forward to a lot of dirty politics and she will defeat herself because of her husband’s tactics. It would be bad news for America if “they” get back into the Whitehouse.
If the democratic nominee is Obama, we will see a gentlemen’s campaign on both sides, because they are both, indeed, gentlemen.
McCain is a liberal … how do they say ‘posturing’ as a conservative… Huckabee as well.
Another thing Huchabee, something that is really beginning to bother me… there are many denominations/faiths and it seems you act as though you are the only man running that emraces God and has faith. Romney consistently reminds me of the best of Ronald Reagan. I’m a proud Texan who can’t wait to vote for Mitt in our primary!!!
Whatever respect I held for John McCain before today IS GONE!!!
I am absolutely disgusted at the dirty politics he is playing on the verge of losing Florida!
He has been coming out with statements all day saying “will Mitt Romney withdrawl troops within 60 days?” “Mitt Romney should apologize to our fighting men and women”
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!
I hope that the people of Florida and the rest of the country will see this man for what he truly is: a power hungry fraud!!!

I am surprised to see so much support for Mitt Romney on this blog. I find Mitt Romney to be an excellent example of an intelligent man. I am suprised by this refreshing dicussion because nomally on Fox News Cable T.V that I watch 24/7 it sound to me that Fox is bias toward Mc Cain and never seem to say a good word about Romney. Romney deserved everyones serious consideration. Carl Cameron has just stated what the quite people in the Republican party are feeling. Its about time to listen to us and and repect our admiration for Romney because he has the qualities to make him a good President.

Well if you go to therealmittromney.com and see Mitts debate with Ted Kennedy, you will see what a flip flopper he really is.The only real change candidate in this race is Mike Huckabee.Fairtax,Prolife,Profamily and reallly behind the middle class.I beleive in Mike and I think the esablishment are very worried about Mike.Well they should be.He would do whats rite for us,not washington.Mitt started his populist message after Iowa.He will say anything to get elected,so he can make some more deals with China. Please dont let our Country be bought out with big money again.
Crist’s endorsement of McCain makes me wonder what incentive McCain is promising ..Roads, bridges, 72 virgins, or what?
Romney is the only intelligent choice. He’s great on the economy, the illegal immigrant problem, Iraq and the war on terror. He’s the only one with a chance of winning the Presidency. Obama or Hillary would eat McCain alive.
What was Crist thinking?
Carl,
I just heard the reason you gave for Fl gov endorsement of McCain and I have to ask, are you high? To much sun? Both Sen. and the Gov have to endorse a candidate from the GOP. McCain is the only candidate with a lenient immigration policy. If they back anyone else they lose the hispanic vote’s can’t win without that vote, so yes, striking fear into the older folks and using his patriotism to mask the reason is how they got around it, but you have to know, everyone knows, that’s why he got the endorsement. AS a matter of fact, the folks that live there were wondering what took so long to go public? Really Carl, I lived was was active there for 22 years. In the last 8 years, if your not for illegals for labor, and turning your head away, you do not get elected there. Period. Why, Fl. and Ca. run their industry, ( eg big sugar), their DOT crews, heck, even publix hires them for baggers to hold their costs down.
The housing issue in Fl. has a lot to do with people who couldn’t understand what they were signing, getting in to deep and rentals that house 3-4 family’s and run down neighborhoods, even the Marlins , are effected by people who refuse to give the guy that owns the stadium a dime. They have VERY long memories, they came here because they r tired of getting screwed by gov. and they don’t take kindly to people who do that to them here.
What REALLY fries my buns, is Shepard Smith spent YEARS in Fl. and I know he knows all this, but lets you guys run at the mouth like you have a clue. Please, tel the truth, or go sit down. Enough with the press manipulating the election with baloney. OK, I’m done, sorry I took up so much space.
John McCain is a head case. he has misrepresenting Romney all day. For somebody who was so mad about dirty politics played against him in South Carolina in 2000, he sure doesn’t mind playing them himself.
John McCain is also a fraud on national security. He is an open border globalist. Read this if you do not understand:
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/01/25/meet-the-open-borders-family-mccain-hernandez-soros-and-the-reform-institute/
“Senator McCain saying he is a proud conservative is akin to Hillary Clinton being on the cover of playboy magazine.”
Philip, that is the best line I’ve read all week. Consider it stolen.
Don’t believe that Christians won’t vote for a Mormon. That’s media koolaid. Just look at the percentage of Republican voters Romney is alreay getting. West of the Mississippi we are very comfortable with Mormons. We share values, traditions, patriotism, conservatism. The media is blathering,(no offense, Carl) just like saying McCain is the “only one” who can beat Hillary. Six months ago Rudy was the “only one” who could beat Hillary. Now he’s road kill. McCain is the one who has problems with “the base”, not Romney. You don’t have to rely on the media for that information, he says it himself and has been saying it for ten years.
The news media is faltering in its responsibility to America. It may be left up to the courage and willingness of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the general election to do what no one else seems willing to do. The Clinton’s will see to it that the secret Mormon temple oath to which Mitt Romney has already bound himself, that requires him to even use the presidency of the United States in furtherance of Mormonism is too consequential to not expose. This is the truth; Google.com has the words posted for anyone who understands the meaning of words. Google has the entire Mormon temple secret rituals. Actually, in the Mormon temple ROMNEY MADE A COVENANT WITH GOD TO WHOLLY AND COMPLETELY DEVOTE HIMSELF, HIS TIME, HIS TALENTS, ALL HE HAS OR EVER WILL HAVE AND EVERYTHING POSSIBLE WITHIN HIS POWER TO BUILD UP MORMONISM ON THE EARTH. The words of this covenant do NOT permit the exclusion of anything ever in his power to use. It is an outrage that Romney is being able to avoid such questions. It is NOT a “religious test” to be asked questions. Romney, unlike John Kennedy, refuses to answer questions about Mormonism and, apparently, he has put the news media in a state of timidity. There are questions that cannot stand the bright light of sunshine about how Mormonism can affect America and that is why Romney desperately wants to avoid questions on Mormonism. If he had nothing to hide he would be glad to answer every question.
Mormonism, like Islam, is bent on extending its influence worldwide. There are countries that do not now allow Mormonism to operate. Sitting in the powerful office of the presidency, some of these countries may be willing to make important side deals with Romney in exchange for favors on which a president Romney can be of powerful influence. His “covenant with God” in the Mormon temple will have to be honored since he says he is committed to staying faithful to Mormonism. This and other questions begs to be asked in the primary election—not handing such a windfall to the Clinton’s to capitalize on the devastating facts. When it is fully analyzed will America feel comfortable in such a concrete oath that puts the country in second place as to the president’s first commitment? This is reality; look it up. Google has it. Read its words, carefully
Making the secret temple “covenant with God” even scarier is the fact that in Mormonism, the voice of its “prophet” IS THE SAME as if God is speaking. They would like to hide this fact as well, but it is clearly recorded in the “Doctrine and Covenants,” Section 1, verse 38, one of Mormonism’s own “scriptures.” Mormons teach this over and over in their meetings. These are undeniable facts; any Mormon who denies them, and some will, they are not honest. Now the Mormon prophet may speak to a president Romney on a matter important to Mormonism, how will Mr. Romney turn his back on God by ignoring the prophet whose voice Romney believes is the same as the voice of God? These are legitimate questions.
America is certainly not electing a “pastor-in-chief,” a clever escape phrase used by Mr. Romney. But it deserves to have a president that is forthright and clear about where he stands on matters that could affect the nation.
I wish the Mormon people well; but I would prefer they “not pour ice water down America’s back and try to convince her that she is only sweating.”
Here is my breakdown on a few of the candidates for the GOP nomination:
Huckabee: He is a good ol’ boy and one of the most charismatic candidates I’ve ever seen. Honestly I like him and would love to have him as my next door neighbor, but in the White House? Compared to other candidates he lacks the experience we need to solve all the problems this country faces.
Giuliani: He is too moderate for me and he is a long shot, so I’ll move on.
McCain: I feel that McCain is a one-sided wonder. He probably is the most qualified and most experienced to handle the war. Despite his denying it, he is still trying to learn economics. Nonetheless, I think he is a good candidate. Honestly, if he gets the nomination of GOP, I will be okay with that.
Romney: This man has a resume that is lights out above the rest. McCain said on Friday that America wants a leader, not a manager like Mitt Romney. In my opinion, that is a silly comment. Clearly Romney is a leader. It’s true Romney isn’t as experienced as McCain on war, but Romney is the most well-rounded of the group. He is a genius–JD/MBA from Harvard and founder of Bain Capital. I like the idea of business man in the White House. I think he will slim down an overly fattened Washington and regain America’s standing in the world. The Mormon issue should be a non-factor. He addressed it and we should move on. Someone stated that none of the other candidates like him because he is dishonorable and indecent. That comment makes me laugh. I think the others all gang up on him because he is a huge threat to them. They see his qualifications and it seriously makes them nervous.
Book Recommendation: Turnaround: Crisis, Leadership, and the Olympic Games by Mitt Romney and Timothy Robinson.
Cameron , you lost me tonight your reporting was not only disingenuous it was just as much a lie as mc cain remarks.
You have shown your colors and no longer can be considered a serous reporter but an advocated for mc cain.
and stop dressing like you’re somebody your a wee little reporter that produces nothing and is over paid get a grip!
Fox News: your invitation to leave a reply seems less than honest. I inserted a reply that truthfully exposes Mitt Romney’s so-called “covenant with God” in a secret Mormon temple, pledging that he would always use every opportunity to further the interest of Mormonism. This temple oath supercedes ALL other interests. (the temple ritual is on Google), and you censored it from being printed. There are several ways that Romney’s Mormon temple oath could contradict the presidential oath of office. The article also referenced the Mormon scripture that says their prophet’s voice is the same as God’s voice. Romney cannot ignore his Mormon prophet’s counsel without turning his back on God. This can all be documented. With Mormonism irrefutably determined to spread its influence worldwide, every bit as much as Islam is, these questions should be examined. Not only does the news media not have the forthrightness to simply ask the questions, but it censors them from being printed by others. Fox News so much favors Mitt Romney that America will have to wait on Bill and Hillary Clinton to expose what the news media should have covered. I have no doubt that the Clinton’s will make sure it all comes out, and it is legitimate that they should, for these are facts that can affect America. But the Republican party will pay for it in losing to the Clinton’s, because surely America will not be comfortable with a president who has made a “covenant with God” to put the interest of Mormonism ahead of America’s interest.
Talking about dirty politics… My Mom just received a phone call in Florida, asking her if she is going to vote for John McCain? Mom said, “No, because Mitt Romney has my vote.” The caller then went on to attack Romney. They were all lies of course. Mom knows about Mitt Romney’s exemplary record as she has lived in Massachusetts for years! Nice try McCain. By the way, McCain, you look and stutter like Elmer Fudd. I can’t wait to hear you say, “Beap Beap Beap That’s All Folks- I mean ‘My Friends’”! Romney For President. He is for a Strong Economy, Strong Borders, a Strong Military, and a Stronger America.
Let me add a little something for you folks , I see a lot of Romney support well for the last 2 days I have been using the Romney call from home system by the way it’s awesome . If you all feel as strongly as you saying you should not wait but get involved.
My point , hands down Romney has go this thing the governor of Florida made a huge mistake and could not have picked a worse day to toss his support behind mc cain .
Mc cain is close if I count all the hang up’s as being people going to vote mc cain other wise it’s a straight up blow out, as well I’ve talked to just as many Rudy people saying they are considering changing their vote for Romney because the don’t think Rudy has a chance and the last thing they want is that bum mc cain to win..
This thing is in the bag I’ve already declared Romney the winner based on my over 2000 conversations with Florida republicans.
Fox ,Fire Cameron he’s joke and looks like a clown lately !

DITTO on that.
FOR THE SAKE OF THE COUNTRY – GO ROMNEY
I think Carl is writing in five word sentences because he has to say a few nice things about Romney. FOX has been the biggest disappointment in election coverage of all of the cable news because of coverage like Carl’s. But I digress. When an opposing party beats it drums for McCain, it might be a signal that it is wise to stay away from him.
“John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most “electable” Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole did not lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.” –Ann Coulter
“If nominated, John McCain will destroy the Republican Party.”- Rush Limbaugh
“Florida will be the beginning of the end of Juan McLame’s career of fighting for amnesty, teaming up with liberals against tax cuts, giving your social security away to illegals and being the single biggest backstabber to the conservative movement.”- Me
Let us count McCain’s “conservative credentials”:
-he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America
-as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Heritage Foundation, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put many US companies out of business
-supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat
-he joined forces with Democrats (“Gang of 14”) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-with most of these positions, unfortunately, McCain hasn’t flip-flopped and vows to fight for these liberal causes as president
-if I wanted to elect a Democrat, I would vote for Hillary or Obama
Let us now look at some of his endorsements:
-New York Times
-Geraldo Rivera
-Joe Lieberman
-Bill and Hillary Clinton
-nearly every member of the liberal media (most Newspapers have endorsed him for this very reason, phrasing his strength as an ability to “attract the support of liberals”)
If you are a Republican, do not let the most liberal elements of the media tell you who to vote for and who is “electable”. Electability polls fluctuate wildly every week (+16 this very week in favor of Romney). A recent example: Bob Dole was considered far and away the “most electable” Republican because he was respected by Democrats and because of his military service.
Voters in Florida and around the country, if you are a conservative, consider whether McCain’s career record of liberal positions and ineptitude is actually the best you can hope for. Consider if he is the most electable candidate even if many prominent conservatives have vowed to “sit out” this election if he’s the nominee.
Spread the word to other conservatives before the liberals on TV and in the newspapers steal this election away from the conservative movement (lower taxes, stronger families, stronger military, no amnesty).
If it comes down to Obama vs Romney, I will vote Obama. If it comes down to Hillary vs Romney, I will go fishing. I will not vote for a liar under any circumstances.

To quote another writer whom I agree with:
“But people, please, do you want a person who is an economic expert, a leader, a conservative, a problem solver and a genius who can bring in experts on foreign policy and make the right decisions for our country. Or do you want someone with 30 years in the senate, with owed favors and commited ties, who voted against tax cuts, voted for amnesty, and has a history of being anything but conservative. No leadership experience, no governing experience, no executive experience, no experience solving problems and getting things done, who just happens to have some (questionable) foreign policy experience.”
McCain claims that he’s a “leader” and Romney’s just a “manager”.
McCain’s entire lifestyle has been lived on the public purse. If he wasn’t a senator someone else would be, and that someone else might be a real conservative.
Sorry John, you don’t inspire me and I do NOT want you as my “leader” telling me what to do. Your lifetime of “service” is just a job you chose to take. Your salary is paid by the American people. Your “foreign policy” junkets and experience has been gained at my expense. You are the manager, not Mitt Romney.
(Maybe you, John McCain, would fit in as one of the many foreign policy experts who could provide data for the President to consider before making an informed executive decision in the interests of the American people and the American way of life.)
Contrast McCain’s record and his proud claims with Romney’s MBA and doctorate from Harvard, Romney’s proven record of success in making the right business and financial executive decisions time after time, Romney’s commitment to secure our borders, and Romney’s lifetime devotion to the family values cherished by most Americans.
Clearly Mitt Romney is the man for the Whitehouse. Romney’s the person most capable of standing up to the insider lawyer/policiticans like McCain and the Hillbilly Duo who would only perpetuate the broken system Washington has become.
Mitt Romney is the candidate best qualified to and most likely to bring real change to Washington, and a better safer environment for Americans to live their lives uninterfered with by big government, and raise their children in.
Vote Mitt Romney for real change in Washington.
Mitt Romney did say he supported a time table for withdrawal of troops. He said he did not support releasing the time table to the public but he said what he said. You can search for it on YouTube.
If Mitt Romney is the nominee, I can promise you that the DEMS will absolutely tear him apart. If you thought John Kerry got hammered by the GOP for flip-flopping over one issue, just wait till the DEMS have Abortion, Gay Marriage, Guns, Anti-Reagan/Bush, Bush Tax Cuts, FEES, and the rest of the long list of flip-flops about Mitt Romney. And the part they will drive home the hardest, is the fact that he changed all his views at the same time when he decided to run for President. In the first video posted below, he even brags about being a moderate with progressive views.
Mitt Romney is a pandering liar. He has no morals, no values, no convictions, and no integrity.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43TVmSoaQ7c&feature=related
It’s interesting to hear Geraldo Rivera now giving glowing endorsements for McCain. That tells you who likes McCain (liberals and the liberal media).
Rush is right. Electing McCain will be an end to conservatism as we know it. Please Florida voters do something about that and elect Romney while conservatism still has a fighting chance. I believe Florida really is the key to this election.
you’re bad boy Carl censoring your blog , huge no no in my book if you can’t take the heat boy, get out of the kitchen ….
Mitt will win big in Fl bank on it I’ve been talking to Florida republicans the last 2 days and the numbers are heavily in Mitts favor as well his supporters seem to be very motivated .
P.S Carl my criticism was of your live reporting tonight of which I found it to be inaccurate very bias and flawed.
As for your dress well it’s hard to political correspondent serous when he dresses like a clown !
Okay….tell me again….I’m not getting it. You choose Romney because he looks, acts, and leads like a president. Therefore, he looks good in a suit, has good hair, poses good on camera with a fake smile, and tries to control a debate. Hmmmm.
Romney is not a man of his word (believed in killing precious babies) now changes for an election, steals money from people (making them get health coverage because he says so), changes like a chameleon from debate to debate.
Romney tells you what you want to hear, without personal belief and conviction. What has he done? What are his future plans as president? Act like Bush? Not good because Bush has made new laws illegally.
All but 2 of the candidates are part of the CFR ….believing in globalization and removing borders…national i.d. card, etc. Google ‘CFR’. Huckabee is not a member, but is choosing CFR President Haas as his top advisor. Check it out before you vote. You might change your mind. States will be punished if they do not comply with their agenda. They want to scare you into trusting them to protect you, when really they are taking person rights away from each and every one of you. Spooky!
Ron Paul is the only one that will not associate himself with the CFR. He has a plan to help you keep your sovereignty. It is the individual states’ job and not the federal government to implement things.
Other candidates believe you we should obediently put our money in one pot and they will decide how to use it better than you. I think we, in local communities know the best way to spend it. How can Washington know what we need? Just think if all of the contributions to Katrina were handled locally (donations from all over)…..each person that was flooded may have a new house.
Please study…..do ‘google’ searches so that you may find the facts! Do it instead of listening to the talking heads on television or radio!
Oh I almost forgot…..Monkeys look good in suits too!
Although I respect his service to our country, McCain is not our Republican.
Everyone,
I have met McCain personally – and living in Arizona, McCain has done NOTHING for our local economy or securing our borders in all the years he has been a senator –
Some people might think he has a successful track record – the reality is I live in Arizona – and we are all disappointed in McCain. Mike is too unstable for office – he might be a nice guy however he lacks the core experience needed.
when you lose your job and/or you have trouble making your mortgage/bills – reality will set in!
If you want your house price and job market to come back, you need to vote for Mitt Romney. I would rather have someone who is successful run the country then a bunch of politicians who just want a raise in their yearly salary.
By the way, Mitt is not buying a ticket to the presidency – he is funding most of it because he wants to make a difference and does not want to owe anyone any favors – how much money did huckabee and mccain invest in their OWN campaign from their OWN money?? The truth will always be the truth.
Vote Mitt Romney and we can aviod a recession.
Romney is a true leader. His resume:
Governor of Massachusetts – turning around a huge budget deficit into a surplus.
Turning around the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics on the verge of bankruptcy, to a surplus.
Turning around Bain Capital, on the verge of bankruptcy and in the process saving jobs and creating new jobs.
What has John McCain ever led? On the Gang of 14 he led the effort to defeat several conservative judicial nominees. On the Keating 5 McCain led a multi-billion dollar government ripoff that led to hundreds of indictments for others connected with the 5. Has McCain ever governed? Has he ever created a single job? On economic issues McCain is like a deer in the headlights. Will his temper come out when faced with international crises?
After watching the debate only one man stood out from the crowd. Mitt Romney was by far the most eloquent and the smartest guy in the room. (The guy who keeps posting the video claiming Romney was fed answers must have missed the part of the question that specified the raising of payroll taxes.) He is the only Republican candidate with the conservative credentials, and the Washington outsider record of success to take on the entrenched Democratic machine in November. He is the only Republican who can credibly run Bill Clinton’s winning 1992 campaign against the Clintons in 2008!
I’m a Florida Republican and I’m voting for Mitt Romney.

The last think we need is a greedy, brainwashed Mormon.”"”"”"
________
Huck is the brainwasher—and all you members of his filthy-lucre providing congregations–
Carl, excellent reporting! Nice back drop of the boats on the water!
I’m having a hard time selecting a GOP Candidate. It seems that which ever one gets selected we have to forfeit one or two of the true Conservative ideals. This has made a defining line between Fiscal, Social and Defensive, at a time when it is crucial to have all three of those ideals in place. I wish we had a better selection of Candidates.
Very impresive blog Carl.
“”"It’s not surprising that Romney could take Florida, but just like Team Romney, I wouldn’t count Guiliani or McCain out any time soon. Let’s put an end to the hate that keeps us as a nation divided and repair our hurting economy, win the war on terror, and promote domestic peace and tranquility.”"”
I don’t know if you’ve seen this carl. It’s Mitt Romney on the campaign trail appealing to black voters: http://mittblingbling.ytmnd.com/
JH,
AND WATCH THIS TO SEE WHY REPUBLICANS ARE WORRIED ABOUT ROMNEY: http://www.trueromney.com
Crist endorsement was huge, not just for Florida either. This is a well-respected governor with a lot of clout in the party.
We cannot lose sight of the most important point, and that is winning the White House. I still say a McCain – Leiberman ticket, although not what guys like Rush really want to see, would take all of the crossover vote, and still unite the party.
Carl, I like what your saying! If you talk to Mitt, can you maybe suggest that he soften the hair color a bit and gradually start letting more gray show— I know it was easier for W because his hair was a much lighter color, but it should look a bit more natural. He is going to be commander-in-chief, after all. ( I know, girl stuff…)
Great Carl, Mitt’s moment, made all about McCain by you again. At least he got one short sentence, before you went into shilling for McCain. Why am I not surprized?
Poor McCain, under attack, as he was in 2000? Now lets look at who is attacking whom. More importantly, who is being honest about it. Romney’s spots on McCain are spot on, true, correct, and honest. McCain lies about his record and gets angry when others bring up the truth about it. Reminds me a lot of the Clintons.
Now McCain’s new add, it’s a bold face lie. Much as McCain’s defense of his own record, he lies about it. So much for the man of character, McCain is devoid of real character, but he plays a part in which he claims to have true character, problem is McCain’s claim to good character is the “BIGGEST FAIRY TALE I’VE EVER SEEN”.
Just last night, McCain that lying slippery self serving Machiavellian dirt ball (who is also a hero, but that was then, and he’s no honorable figure now) is lying boldface about Romney’s statements about a time table in Iraq. Romney clearly said he would veto any time tables, and said any bench marks including time lines should be between Bush and Maliky, not public.
McCain also lied about his own record (and falsely accused Mitt of lying) in saying his problem with Bush tax cuts was we didn’t cut spending. Bull stuff! Deep Bull Stuff! McCain clearly stated at the time he went against tax cuts BECAUSE THEY WERE “TARGETED TOWARDS THE RICH”. Those were his own words, and what makes it worse is he lied again when he accused Mitt of lying when he used McCain’s own words in perfect context.
McCain also lied about Romney saying his immigration plan was reasonable then saying it wasn’t. That is absolutely not true. McCain’s first draft Mitt said was reasonable, but the Kennedy Collaborated draft is the one that contained what is amnesty with a penalty so those who broke the law can pay a fine and still stay in the country having butted in the line ahead of those who followed the rules, which is what Mitt and most republicans had a problem with.
McCain is a liar who blows up when things are not going his way. His integrity is a facade as is his civility, which fades like the Clintons does, when things don’t go their way.
What we get in McCain isn’t much better than Clinton was, or Clinton the rehash … Hillary, the other half, has been. I’d rather see the democrats win than to pervert the republicans like that … and I’m an independent, but the party of the Clintons (because Bill made it in his disgusting image) is a very ugly, corrupt, and dangerous thing. So is John McCain.
Carl, you have some harsh critics on here, but you’re completely right about politics. I do think its a shame that everyone seemed to say Rudy was the front runner for a while and then McCain while Romney was treated like a second tier candidate in the begining. It just goes to show that its not whats in a name like Mr. Sept 11 or Mr. Anti-Bush War Veteran but rather its in the experience that the candidate has like Romney. But its sad to think that if McCain does win Florida by however small a margin, then Romney will be left in the cold again even though he’d probably still be winning in the delegate count.
AND … Mitt didn’t only win Michigan, he won Nevada and Wyoming. He won “silver” in Iowa and New Hampshire. He has come from being unknown nationally to within 2 points of the top republican choice in the nation, most of which he has had little exposure. That is quite a story Carl, you little McCain Shill you. He has done this running up hill aginst the liberal media, and Fox News which has treated Mitt like a baby treats a diaper with their dishonest manilpulations of the news and coverage, obviously targeted to help their extremely favored, John McCain.
With fair and balanced coverage McCain would be a bad memory, and Mitt would be the man. There is no amount of money that anyone can pay to make up for the favoritism McCain has enjoyed in the media, and on Fox News. Only the fact that Romney is a much better candidate by far has kept him on top (and he has been since he won Wyoming).
See the light Carl and reform your biased reporting, and insist your network does the same, because you are losing any moral edge Fox had, and about all of your and Fox’s credibility for fair and balanced news. Right now fair and balanced is a joke. Not just a joke in the biased liberal media, but in reality Cameron, it’s a joke. Please get it back, you are all we have. And don’t wait until after your boy wins or loses, because that will be to late for your viewers who have more integrity and demand more than those of the liberal media.
Fox News, I love your station, rarely watch another news program, I am familiar with all your News personalities.
Yesterday, you asked for thoughts about Romney vs. McCain. At one time I really liked McCain, a year ago I would have voted for him. But he is so full of snipes and anger, his attitude has changed his entire appearance. Half the time he wears a scowl. I don’t care about his military past anymore even though I love war stories about how this country was won. I greatly appreciate the service all have given.
McCain seems to me now to be a sour puss, filled with jealousy and contempt for a man who is kinder, more experienced, has a proven and committed past all the way around, who admits if he’s wrong and to top it all, who is richer and a whole lot better looking (even though looks do not matter in a vote.) Of course McCain dosen’t like Romney…Romney is everything McCain would like to be but does not have enough time. Romney spent a life time to become who he is, not just campaign time. If Mc Cain wins the Presidency I’ll support him because I will support the President of the United States. But I ain’t votin’ for him right now. Not until he surpasses Romney in all of the other attributes.
Not Afraid To Share My Opinion, Thanks For Asking,

Inside The Beltway, Years Of Leading Democrats Against Republicans
“The bottom line is that I served 12 years with him, 6 years in the United States Senate as leader, one of the leaders of the Senate — the number-3 leader — who had the responsibility of trying to put together the conservative agenda, and almost at every turn on domestic policy, John McCain was not only against us, but leading the charge on the other side.” – Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) (Kathryn Jean Lopez, “A Conservative Case Against McCain,” National Review Online, 1/14/08)
Sen. McCain’s Washington Leadership – Leading The Democrats:
Sen. McCain Is Touting His Leadership Inside The Beltway As A Reason To Support His Candidacy. “Speaking to reporters on his bus elsewhere in Florida, McCain insisted his service on the Senate Commerce Committee is better preparation for overseeing the U.S. economy than Romney’s work as a business consultant, venture capitalist and Olympics CEO.” (Glen Johnson, “GOP Candidates Tout Economic Skills,” The Associated Press, 1/26/08)
Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA): “John McCain Was Not Only Against Us, But Leading The Charge On The Other Side.” SEN. SANTORUM: “The bottom line is that I served 12 years with him, 6 years in the United States Senate as leader, one of the leaders of the Senate – the number-3 leader – who had the responsibility of trying to put together the conservative agenda, and almost at every turn on domestic policy, John McCain was not only against us, but leading the charge on the other side.” (Kathryn Jean Lopez, “A Conservative Case Against McCain,” National Review Online, 1/14/08)
Leadership? Opposing The Bush Tax Cuts:
Sen. McCain Took The Lead With Democrats Opposing President Bush’s 2001 And 2003 Tax Cuts. “On taxes and spending, Mr. McCain … has been disingenuous in explaining his opposition to Mr. Bush’s 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. He claims to have cast these votes to protest the fact that the tax cuts were not accompanied by spending cuts. But the fact is that in opposing these measures, Mr. McCain joined liberal Democrats like Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Tom Daschle in employing class-warfare rhetoric and pushing in favor of higher taxes — voting on the pro-tax side on 14 different occasions.” (Editorial, “McCain vs. McCain,” The Washington Times, 1/25/08)
* Club For Growth President Pat Toomey: Sen. McCain Opposed The “Most Important Pro-Growth Tax Cuts In A Generation.” “When the most important pro-growth tax cuts in a generation were proposed by President George W. Bush in 2001 and 2003, Sen. McCain vigorously opposed them.” (Pat Toomey, Op-Ed, “The McCain Record,” The Wall Street Journal, 3/13/07)
Leadership? McCain-Kennedy Immigration:
Sen. McCain Took The Lead With Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) On Immigration Reform, Which Many Conservatives Derided As “Amnesty.” “On illegal immigration, Mr. McCain said that anyone who says he supported amnesty is ‘a liar’ and says he has ‘never’ supported Social Security benefits for illegals. However, in 2006 and 2007, he joined with Ted Kennedy to support Senate bills that would have granted amnesty to millions of illegals. In 2006, Mr. McCain denounced in a floor speech and cast the deciding vote against an amendment by Sen. John Ensign, Nevada Republican, that would have denied Social Security benefits to illegals who work under a Social Security number obtained through identity fraud.” (Editorial, “McCain vs. McCain,” The Washington Times, 1/25/08)
* National Review: McCain’s Immigration Proposal Amounts To Amnesty. “Supporters of the McCain/Kennedy proposal deny that it is an amnesty, pointing to the fact that payment of a (modest) fine is one of the prerequisites of legalization. But since the goal of an illegal immigrant is to work in the United States, anything that legalizes his presence is a reward; the putative fine is little more than a retroactive smuggling fee paid to the U.S. government.” (Editorial, “Hope Over Experience,” National Review, 5/17/05)
Leadership? McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform:
Sen. McCain Took The Lead With Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) On Campaign Finance Reform, Which Many Conservatives Said Violated The First Amendment. “Another issue where Mr. McCain has clashed with conservatives was over campaign finance reform, also called the McCain-Feingold bill, which instituted a series of regulations that limit the ability of independent groups not associated with the Democratic or Republican parties to participate in the political process. These regulations, which violate the First Amendment, bar the use of corporate or union money to pay for broadcast advertising that identifies a federal candidate within 30 days of a primary or nominating convention or within 60 days of a general election. … McCain’s advocacy of the legislation has created a bitter political divide between the senator and the National Right to Life Committee, which views it as a hindrance to its ability to get its message out.” (Editorial, “McCain vs. McCain,” The Washington Times, 1/25/08)
* Former Speaker Newt Gingrich: McCain-Feingold Is A “Dangerous Modern-Day Assault On The First Amendment.” “The McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law enacted in 2002 is an equally dangerous modern-day assault on the First Amendment. It could more accurately be called the McCain-Feingold censorship law because it stifles political speech, protects incumbent politicians and consolidates power in Washington. This law is of the Congress, by the Congress, and for the Congress, because it protects members of Congress by silencing opposing points of view.” (Newt Gingrich, Op-Ed, “Blacking Out Speech,” National Review, 6/1/06)
Leadership? McCain-Lieberman Climate Change Legislation:
Sen. McCain Took The Lead With Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) On Environmental Legislation, Which Many Conservatives Say Will Hurt The Economy. “Mr. McCain also differs with free-market conservatives on numerous environmental issues. He opposes oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska and has joined with Sen. Joe Lieberman to cosponsor legislation that would require that greenhouse gas emissions be reduced to 2000 levels by 2010 — a measure sure to result in substantial increases in electricity and gasoline costs.” (Editorial, “McCain vs. McCain,” The Washington Times, 1/25/08)
* John Locke Foundation’s Roy Cordato: McCain-Lieberman “Would Dramatically Raise The Tax On All Carbon-Based Fuels.” “What is not widely understood is that [McCain] is currently sponsoring legislation that, in the name of fighting global warming, would dramatically raise the tax on all carbon-based fuels, including gasoline, home heating oil, coal, and to a lesser extent, natural gas. … Higher energy costs will, among other things, raise the cost of manufacturing big-ticket items in American factories. And higher gas prices will likely raise demand for those classes of automobiles that tend to be manufactured overseas.” (Roy Cordato, “McCain’s Costly Tax On Energy,” National Review, http://www.nationalreview.com/, Posted 1/10/08)

Romney leads by 6 points in the latest Rasmussen poll, and leads by an average of all polls. Florida is seeing right through McCain’s desperate, dirty attempts to bring down the obviously better candidate, MITT ROMNEY. VOTE MITT!!
Mitt Romney’s success of the last debate has put McCain in desperate mode. He is desperately making allegations towards Romney in order to deceive the American people. Some of his allegations are simply not true! Unfortunately, these allegations have caused me personally to have a lack of respect for McCain. They are a reflection of his character and lack of integrity. I respect a man that has done so much for Americans surrounding his service and experience but to be untruthful can only leave one wondering what else may not be true. Will he raise taxes?
Mitt Romney can win against the Clinton machine or any democratic candidate. He is our best candidate to do such because His values are solid,he has solutions and ideas to the many problems that Americans face. He will have the solutions to resolve the issues vs. democrats only solution is to raise our taxes and leave us without our own self reliance to improve upon ourselves.
Crist brought down his credibility by endorsing McCain right after he floated his lie about Romney supporting a time table for withdrawl. I hope Jeb Bush see’s this going on and endorses Romney, because he is being dishonestly abused here, by McCain, Huckabee (both liars) and Fox News in their shilling for McCain the McStain.
Romney clearly stated that he would veto any time table for withdrawl from Iraq and the statement is clear, and McCain knows it, and he is floating a bold face lie. Romney said that any time tables for benchmarks that were made should be done so in secret so our enemies don’t know what we are doing, so they can’t plan for it.
That McCain would float something so stinking weak and dishonest is an indication of just how little anyone can get on Romney. We can’t say the same for McCain the McStain, that man is a mess and has little if any honor, as he has demonstrated here.
Like JD Hayworth a congressman from McCain’s home state of Arizona said before he was cut off by the McCain shills at Fox, to let the pro Mc
