Huckabee Plays McCain’s Attack Dog Against Romney
by Carl Cameron
While campaigning in Birmingham, Alabama, Huckabee came to McCain’s defense. Romney called McCain dishonest yesterday and Huckabee was quick to defend McCain. Is he trying to secure the Veep position in a McCain Administration?

Absolutely…. McCain is the liberal’s boy put there in the event Hillary fails. Huckabee is in to split the vote of any real conservative candidates (i.e.) Romney.
McCain not only lied about Romney’s stance and former statements but he was HYPOCRITICAL while doing so.
As quoted from the online service of the Arizona star, written in Jan 2007, McCain then appears to have been talking about possibly needing timetables for withdrawal, with possible severe consequences if not met.
http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/byauthor/1662 71
“Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., one of the most stalwart supporters of the war in Iraq, said Thursday that he might propose that the Iraqi government meet certain benchmarks for the United States to continue its engagement.
Fellow senators and independent political scientists said McCain’s thinking reflected growing concerns within the Republican Party about the course of the war, and also might mark a turning point for the likely 2008 presidential contender, whose previous unconditional backing of the war may have hurt his prospects.
McCain said Thursday that he hadn’t yet decided on precise benchmarks. “They’d have to be specific, and they (Iraqi government officials) would have to meet them,” he said.
Asked what penalty would be imposed if Iraq failed to meet his benchmarks, he said: “I think everybody knows the consequences. Haven’t met the benchmarks? Obviously, then, we’re not able to complete the mission. Then you have to examine your options.”
Andrew E. Smith, a political science professor and the director of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, said: “I think it certainly could be politically significant.” New Hampshire will hold the first presidential primary of 2008.
“This seems to me like he’s trimming his sails a little on the issue,” Smith said…
It was unclear what consequences or timetables McCain would spell out, or whether he believes that Congress has the authority to enforce them.
Still, several Senate Demo-crats who oppose the troop buildup and also may seek the presidency said they were struck by McCain’s comments.
“We Catholics call that an epiphany,” said Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Joseph Biden, D-Del., who is sponsoring the main Democratic resolution opposing the troop buildup.
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said: “I called for that . . . several weeks ago. I’m glad that John McCain agrees with me.”
Mike Huckabee: #6 on the 10 most corrupt politicians of 2007. Need we say more?
McCain and Huckabee are a lying alliance!
WATCH HANNITY AND COLMES ON MONDAY NIGHT FOR THE ENTIRE ROMNEY INTERVIEW!!!
IT WILL PROVE ONCE AND FOR ALL THAT MCCAIN IS BEING EXTREMELY DECEITFUL!
MITT ROMNEY IS GOING ALL THE WAY!!!
Surprise, Surprise………..I think it was obvious to most, throughout the debates, that McCain and Huckabee have already made that deal………..I wonder how many other cloakroom deals have
been made with McCain…..At least with Romney spending his own money, he won’t OWE anyone
for their help………….
Carl I am disappointed you are letting McCain get away with clear hypocrisy in his statements about Romney and timetables. McCain made very similar statements in Jan 2007 in the AZ newspaper but he’s apparently too senile to remember them. Romney is surging and I think we all see the writing on the wall. Be a man in the journalistic sense and tell it like it is. Romney by 10 at least!
You guys are just trying to make something out of nothing…Mitt’s latest antic strikes me as being rather Clintonesque, Mitt prefers to attack the person rather than the issue; then he has the audacity to demand an apology…you guys asked Huckabee to weigh in on the tit-for-tat, in an attempt to get a three-way dogfight. Mike stated the obvious, McCain and Mike differ on some issues but he has never seen or heard McCain lie about anything and to do so would be out of character for McCain. I applaud Mike for standing up for the integrity of the individual; that’s more than I can say about Mitt and his street dog politics…
CARL,
WHY are YOU not reporting on the Illegal alien advocate that is working for JOHN McCain’s campaign?

Uh- hello, what McCain administration! Only in your dreams Carl. Romney by 10 – at least
McCain in many ways looks and tastes like a McDonald’s McMuffin; packaged nice, really really good looks and amazing taste…but, unfortunately for McCain and McDonalds they will never be able to hide the unhealthy reality under all that great taste.
Just break down McCain’s not so healthy ingredients…
1.Grilled George W. Bush’s tax cuts on both sides… in 2001 and 2003
2. joined 14 eggheads to make the gang of 14 that sought to find compromise on judicial appointments.
3.Muffen’d up Senate opposition to Bush administration policies on detainee interrogation
4.soft as butter on illegal immigration.
5.supported that cheesy campaign finance reform bill.
Why doesn’t Maverick McCain stand as he is…an independent? He really is a different species than the Republican Party of today.
Nice twist. The bias exibited by Fox News is disgusting.
http://www.huckabeetruth.com
“John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most “electable” Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole did not lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.” –Ann Coulter
“If nominated, John McCain will destroy the Republican Party.”- Rush Limbaugh
“Florida will be the beginning of the end of Juan McLame’s career of fighting for amnesty, teaming up with liberals against tax cuts, giving your social security away to illegals and being the single biggest backstabber to the conservative movement.”- Me
Let us count McCain’s conservative credentials:
-he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America
-as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Heritage Foundation, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put many US companies out of business
-supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat
-he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-with most of these positions, unfortunately, McCain hasn’t flip-flopped and vows to fight for these liberal causes as president
-if I wanted to elect a Democrat, I would vote for Hillary or Obama
Let us now look at some of his endorsements:
-New York Times
-Geraldo Rivera
-Joe Lieberman
-Bill and Hillary Clinton
-Juan Hernandez (Mexican, pro-amnesty zealot who now ADVISES McCain)
-nearly every member of the liberal media (most Newspapers have endorsed him for this very reason, phrasing his strength as an ability to “attract the support of liberals”)
If you are a Republican, do not let the most liberal elements of the media tell you who to vote for and who is “electable”. Electability polls fluctuate wildly every week (+16 this very week in favor of Romney). A recent example: Bob Dole was considered far and away the “most electable” Republican because he was respected by Democrats and because of his military service.
Voters in Florida and around the country, if you are a conservative, consider whether McCain’s career record of liberal positions and ineptitude is actually the best you can hope for. Consider if he is the most electable candidate even if many prominent conservatives have vowed to “sit out” this election if he’s the nominee.
Spread the word to other conservatives before the liberals on TV and in the newspapers steal this election away from the conservative movement (lower taxes, stronger families, stronger military, no amnesty).
Huckabee is an irrelevant, dimb-witted turd.
The Huckster is a Huckster (con man in other words). All one has to do is look at the transcript of Romney’s intervies to understand that Romney said he would veto anything to do with a time line for removal of the troops. Romney also supported exactly what Bush was saying, that no bench mark time lines should be public, but kept between Bush and Malaki.
Huckabee knows McCain lied, or he is stupid. Huckabee’s line that he knew about that “plan” because it was some official in Arkansas’ plan is a lie which sounds very much like a Bill Clinton patented fudge, as does much of what the Huckster says.
All Fox has to do is show the transcript, they have it, but won’t show it because it shows their man McCain to be a liar. But that is not a surprize as he lied through his teeth about his own record a number of times.
It’s funny how Huckabee claims his religion defines him but yet he’ll lie and back up a lie about Romney. Maybe he needs to attend church, Repent and practice what he preaches. Anybody with a brain can see what Romey said wasn’t what Mccain has made it to be.
Just the facts…Not a Washington Insider, Romney has a sophisticated understanding of the challenges we face in both the national and global economies. He is a highly educated and successful leader in business making money by turning around floundering companies such as Staples and helping to produce thousands of jobs, understands the importance of people, organization, research, planning, communication and direction. He was class valedictorian at BYU, MBA and LAW degree from Harvard. While Governor of mostly Democrat Massachusetts, he brought the fractured constituencies together and they became the first state with a universal health care plan that seems to work. He took no salary at all as Governor because as he said, I have enough. He lowered state taxes. Increased funding for education, while he was governor Massachusetts students ranked #l in the nation in education. Increased penalties on drunk driving. Never supported the release of criminals convicted of serious crimes. Never was first to bring up religion. He turned around MA’s economy from deficit to surplus, balancing their budget in less than 4 years. How dare he do his job well and for no pay on top of it!!! When the Salt Lake City Olympics crumbled under corruption/scandal and financial disaster he went to Salt Lake, took over for a one dollar salary, saved the Olympics and made it profitable. He led a massive security mobilization at the Olympics in the wake of the 9/11 attack and, as governor, helped build up Massachusetts’ homeland security efforts. He supports a strong military. He is concerned about illegal immigration and what it means to the security of the United States. He wants to retool America and bring the jobs back home. I can certainly understand left wingers hating Romney, after all he’s been married to the same woman. He’s from a close knit family and values family first. Regarding his flip-flopping on big issues? He may have flipped but not flopped! Everyone, and that means everyone in politics makes mistakes, gets to change their mind once after gaining more knowledge, and most politicians seem to change more than once. Stand all of the candidates up next to each other in a direct comparison of what they really have done and then vote for the best person to make good change and run the country in the right direction.
Wow, what a kick in the pants for Rudy. What does McCain have on Crist? At least Romney with his own money doesn’t have anyone to answer to. He can be honest without worry.
Huckabee: God is watching you – tell the truth even if you don’t get to be VP?
No, it’s called telling the truth. I know it’s a novel concept that has long been extinct due to the secular movement over the years but it is what it is, THE TRUTH.
You should try it sometime.
I DONT THINK U WOULD ALL FEEL THE SAME ABOUT MIKE IF U READ THIS!!!!! and certainly would not want him as VP. I should point out that I liked Mike Huckabee. well he’s funny …. well he’s funny and has a decent tax plan but thats about it. Now I don’t normally read newseek since its leftly bais but in Dec. and artical caught my eye. In 1998 Mike H. son David Huckabee then 17 was at a boy scout camp &KILLED A STRAY DOG BY HANGING IT!!!!!!!!! and when this caught the attention by the local prosecuting attorney and local police they were asked by Mike H. and his lawyer to deny the charges and they did until John Bailey the director of arkansas state police was approaced by Hucks Lawyer to deny what had happened. Mr. Bailey did not and wanted to do the RIGHT thing & 7 months later was brought into Huckabees office and fired. Huckabee told him since you were unable to help me I am unable to help you and fired him for doing his job. As I stated I like Huckabbe and if it were down to it if Clinton and Huckbee were chosen as the nominees I would have voted for Mike H. but I would not vote knowng this. I am sickend that a pastor and pres. candidate would be so irresponsible about something so horrific if it were my son it would be my responsibility as a parent for my son to face justice just like everyone else and t punish the law for doing what lawfully in their duty to do shame on him. I am sick and tired of dirty polticians both Dems and and Rep. protect thy own code even if it destroys the fragile moral fabric that this great america so caringly cherishes.
How much proof does it take to proove that Mitt Romney is DISHONEST while Senator John McCain is HONEST.
Here is the video from Good Morning America (the last half) that Mitt Romney states that a timetable for withdrawl should be set up:
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/mitt-romney-on-good-morning-america/2428630315
Here is another:
http://www.2008electionprocon.org/iraqwithdrawtimetable.htm#romney
All in his own words:
I’d like to know how the US can withdrawl hundreds of thousands of troups “secretly” and not have the enemy know this, talk about UNDERESTIMATING the enemy. Nothing short of complete vanquish of the enemy has to be accomplished, prior to anyt withdrawl.
Common Carl. Huckabee just answered the question asked him. He gave an honest answer. A truthful answer. Why are you trying to read something into it other than an honest man answering a question with truth. The facts are the facts, what did you expect Huckabee to do, lie? You know better. There are alot more scaring facts about Mitt Romney. Just got to ttp://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/ or http://www.trueromney.com Mike Huckabee is the only true conservative left in this race and the best communicator.
Before his tour of duty in Vietnam, McCain had married a model from Philadelphia, Carol Shepp. While he was imprisoned, she was in an auto wreck, thrown through her car’s windshield and left seriously injured. After his return to America, McCain had an extramarital affair with Cindy Lou Hensley, whose father owned Hensley & Co., a Phoenix-based liquor company that is the nation’s second largest Anheuser-Busch distributor. McCain and Shepp were divorced in 1980, and he married his millionaire mistress the following month. Hensley’s rich father bought McCain’s seat in Congress.
Conservative values?
I don’t believe Huckabee is in it for the VP position. I see Huckabee as a generally honest man who is fed up with attacks from Mitt Romney directed both at himself and McCain. It’s a sad commentary when candidates have to defend each other from other candidates’ verbal assaults. But such is the “win at all costs” strategy of Romney.
Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff. I’m McCain’s best friend!! Please, please, please, choose me!!!
Mike Huckabee: #6 on the 10 most corrupt politicians of 2007.
John McCain: Founding member of the scandelous Keating Five.
How could one ever vote for such corruption?
The only attack dog is you Carl! Attacking Mike Huckabee just for telling the truth.
GREAT ARTICLE HERE: http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=26591
Amnesty brothers stick together. Huck and McAmnesty attack Mitt because neither can stand on their own platforms.
They both know that he is the right candidate and the candidate to beat.
Check out Juan Hernandez, John McCain’s Hispanic outreach coordinator who used to be a high-level Mexican government official under Presidente Vincente Fox.
Don’t take my word for it, look it up.
John McCain is trusting this former foreign official to help him with his immigration platform!
Where is the loyalty to America first, John?
Huckabee, of course, fought to give scholarships to adult illegal aliens, at the expense of the poor taxpayers of Arkansas. John McCain, of course, with McCain/Kennedy was the sponsor of illegal alien amnesty and has put up hurdle after hurdle keeping the wall from being built.
John McCain–why do you trust an official of a foreign government? Would you trust the Chinese official in charge of exporting toys to write your policy regarding lead paint?
Would you trust a former Russian defense minister to author your foreign policy regarding European missle defense? I hope not, but why do you trust your illegal alien policies to a person who was in charge of helping illegal aliens get in to America and helping them get ‘benefits’ from me and my neighbors?
Poor judgment!
.
DUH?????? Of course he is courting VP…..not so fast, Gov. Huckabee. Looks like the Fredheads are moving to Gov. Romney.
Hey Carl…check out this story…..McCain and his Iraq time-table.
http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/byauthor/166271
McCain will just deny he said this too.
Huckabee, he is desperate hanging onto the sinking boat…….Do I expect different from Huckabee??? Nope, he is in the same club as McAmnesty.
I just don’t understand why no one in the media is challenging McCain on his dishonesty?
WATCH THIS VIDEO FOR THE TRUE STORY-SEE IF YOU EVER HEAR MITT ROMNEY SAY HE SUPPORTS A TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAWING THE TROOPS!
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/mitt-romney-on-good-morning-america/2428630315
JOHN MCCAIN—SHAME ON YOU!!!—BLATANTLY LYING ABOUT A FELLOW REPUBLICAN AND A MAN OF MORAL CHARACTER AND VALUES!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY FOR THIS ONE!!!
JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHY YOU ARE THE DEMOCRATS FAVORITE REPUBLICAN!
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video_log/2008/01/romney_democrats_favorite_repu.html
YOU WEASEL!!!!
This is shameful for Huckabee, McCain, Graham and everybody else who joins this display of dishonor. Last week, Dennis Prager said all the Republican candidates were “good and decent men.” After reading about this bruhaha, I’m inclined to conclude that Romney is the only one left on the Republican side is could qualify as either good or decent. Fox’s softball coverage of these candidates’ lack of integrity also brings into question the claim of being “fair and balanced.”
I’m learning that MSM’s (inlcuding Fox) definitions for “maverick” and “straight talker” don’t come from standard dictionaries. They’re merely news speak for “dishonest.”
Huckabaee is just a little whiner because he is so far down the pecking order and Romney is beating him in ALL polls.
I have sent this site to you….you ignore it! I thought Fox was fair and balanced? McCain had a time table for Iraq……you jump all over Romney..even when it is not true….
There seems to be a bias for McCain……and it stinks!
http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/relatedstories/166271.php
Huckabee has been playing for VP since the beginning. The question is will it work?
McCain is trying anything he can to win the nomination. Are you sure his midlle name isn’t Clinton? Now Mike Huckabee is also trying to get into the Clinton family. They both are everwhat we all despise in our politis today. I’m not saying Romney is perfect or hasn’t done anything wrong in his lifetime, but who is the one running dirty campaigning now? McCain knows he is loosing is people and his party. I believe he will loose even more after this is over and Romney is President. Go Mitt go!
Hucakbee – once again you make me absolutely sick with your pathetic brown nosing. Haven’t you figured it out yet? You don’t have a shot at th VP spot. McAmnesty is playing you like a fiddle long enough for you to try to take enough votes away from Romney. Remember Fred? McAmnesty used Fred as well to beat you in SC and end any hope you had for the nomination.
Not only are you a suckup, but you’re a plain idiot if you don’t see what’s happening.
Worse yet, you’re a lying suckup! You and McAmnesty both know that Romney never advocated a premature withdrawal of troops. Hypocrites both of you. You both whined about Romney’s “attack ads” in IA and NH which weren’t even attack ads. They were straight up professional contrast pieces. You two, however, have been relentless in your character assassinations and truth twisting – anything in pure desperation to seek the throne of power.
I doubt if Mike will be the veep…..He’s just tired of Romney’s dirty campaign, and He’s being Mike………Honest
I had rather settle for someone that I don’t agree with on all matters than someone that indicates that he cannot be trusted on what he says from one time to the next.
Romney is the one responsible for people thinking that he is a flip-flopper. It seems Romney got elected in Massachusetts by telling the voters how liberal he could be then after getting elected he betrayed Massachusetts people by trying to govern so he could convince people across the nation that he was a geniune conservative. This seems rather transparent that he did this. How can he be trusted?
The abortion issue had been around so long that he had all the opportunity required to make a moral judgement. No flip-flop was justified. It looks like he was willing to support abortion even if it meant a few more babies would be killed in their mother’s womb so he could get elected in Massachusetts, and then claim that he “grew in maturity” in realizing that he was wrong on abortion. This seems so phony that it can hardly be believed. If this was the only flip-flop, maybe he would be entitled to a pass. But, look, the guy has flipped on several issues. Who can believe who he really is?
Carl, You are a moron! When will you fox people wise up and report unbiased news. Huckabee has a lot more support than you are willing to admit. Voters don’t want a president that changes positions more than they change their sox.
Of course I’m running for the VP position. I know I don’t have a prayer of actually getting elected president because I’m a dead broke, bible thumping whack job and I know that you all know that.
Yes sir, my best hope is that McCain will let me be his VP. Of course I’m also secretly attracted to him and I’m really hoping he will leave his second wife and make sweat sweat love to me.
What can you say? When you are losing the battle to a superior force, all that’s left to do is mudsling. McCain/Huck are soon to be history. Romney will be victorious come Tuesday in Florida. GO MITT GO!!!
Huckabee has been kissing McCain’s butt for weeks. I bet McCain told him something that made Huck think he would be chosen as the VP if he helped McCain. It’s disgusting to watch him slobber all over McCain.
Attack dog against Romney… I just had this visual of a little rat terrier hanging on to Romney’s pants leg… lol pardon me…
It is ridiculous but it is an excellent ‘kiss up’ after Huck said McCain was too old to even last a term. Nice try Huck.
Oh my… I just had this visual of a tiny growling rat terrier clinging to Mitt’s pants leg.
Huck does have some making up to do with McCain after that jab about saying he’s too old to last a term. That’s no way to secure a Veep position. I think he realizes he blew it big time.
It’s ok though McCain – if it were you and Huck head to head Hecklebee would be snapping at you even more… so enjoy.
Absolutely, Huckabee is after a job. It’s apparent his campaign is breathing its last breath. Huckabee’s been buddying up to McCain for a long time now. Frankly, I’d be really uncomfortable if Huckabee wanted to get close to Romney – it would ruin Romney’s campaign, which, by the way, is going great! His numbers are steadily climbing and McCain’s latest dirty trick – oh, wait, let me call it what it is – A LIE! – won’t help McCain. He’s an angry, frustrated old man.
And while I’m at it – SOMEBODY TELL McCAIN TO LOSE THE CHEWING GUM – IT’S DISGUSTING TO WATCH.
Is Hackabee trying to secure a VP position with McCain? DUH! Absolutely. He is as dishonest as McCain.
I have been so discussed with the slandering of Mitt Romney. He has been attacked on every level. McCain spread a LIE about comments made by Mr. Romney. That was an attack ( is this what you want in a president?). Mitt defended himself and that somehow reported as him “attacking” McCain.
All in all, I am pretty alarmed that in 2008, that so many are basing their decision Not to vote for a candidate based on ther race, gender, or religion. If Mittt Romney was Baptist, he would be the ultimate Republian candidate. How sad.
Come on ….Mitt would bring honor, family values, intelligence and grea experience to the White House. GO MITT!!!!
Mike Huckabee believes that McCain wasn’t trying to be dishonest and you think he wants to be McCain’s VP? Mike Huckabee is looking for the Nomination, not VP.
Huckabee must not know about Joe Lieberman.
I was leaning to McCain, but after the lie about Romney setting time tables for troop withdrawl. I can’t do it!! GO Mitt!!! The proof is in the transcript!
Huckabee is mcCains puppet!
Condi needs to be the VP running mate.
Mike Huckabee is done. His position on “blame America first” and saying “Reagan era is over” will do him NO good. Iowa was a fluke. The only thing he can hope for is to be governor again. Fred Thompson will be VP, no matter who the P is.
We have 2 good republican candidates: Mccain and Huckabee. I’ll vote for either… Then there is the BIGGEST CROOK and the Next Nixon if he wins, Romney. Romney has already shown his true colors by denying his own words and changing his views when it meets the voters needs. The worst possible situation is our country ends with the choice between a low self esteem cheated on wife Clinton candidate and a Mormon lier, crook and shister, Romney in this 2008 presidential election…
VOTE FOR EITHER THE WAR HERO MCCAIN OR THE HONEST GOOD HEARTED CHURCH PREACHER HUCKABEE!!!!
Taxes and Fees
A survey of states by the National Conference of State Legislatures found Massachusetts led the nation during Romney’s first year, raising fees and fines by $501 million. New York was second with $367 million. Nine other states raised fees and fines by more than $100 million.
“We renamed him ‘Fee-Fee.’ He was so unwilling to raise taxes that he was wanting to put all these fees in place instead,” Hachey said.
“It’s a shell game,” said Julian Zelizer, professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University. “He (Mitt Romney) can still say he didn’t raise taxes, but fees are taxes by another name. It’s a trick.”
Romney’s fees could also grate on some of those he is courting as he seeking the GOP nomination, including gun owners.
Under Romney’s plan for Massachusetts, the cost of registering firearms would have jumped from $25 to $75. He also called for increases in the cost of firearm identification cards, application fees for a license to carry firearms, and gun dealer fees.
Gun owners said they felt unfairly targeted by Romney’s proposed increases. Democratic lawmakers applauded Romney’s proposal — ultimately raising the cost of gun licenses to $100.
“We certainly shouldn’t be paying anything for our Second Amendment right, because it’s a civil right,” said Jim Wallace, executive director of the Gun Owner’s Action League.
Boston.com – August 2007
2nd Amendment
In his 1994 US Senate run, Romney backed two gun-control measures strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups: the Brady Bill, which imposed a five-day waiting period on gun sales, and a ban on certain assault weapons.
“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,” Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.
At another campaign stop that year, he told reporters: “I don’t line up with the NRA.”
And as the GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2002, Romney lauded the state’s strong laws during a debate against Democrat Shannon O’Brien. “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them,” he said. “I won’t chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety.”
Today, as he explores a presidential bid, Romney is sending a very different message on gun issues, which are far more prominent in Republican national politics than in Massachusetts.
He now touts his work as governor to ease restrictions on gun owners. He proudly describes himself as a member of the NRA — though his campaign won’t say when he joined. And Friday, at his campaign’s request, top officials of the NRA and the National Shooting Sports Foundation led him around one of the country’s biggest gun shows.
Boston.com – January 2007
Abortion
The National Review article, by John J. Miller, also noted that Romney said during his gubernatorial campaign that he would “fully protect a woman’s right to choose” abortion but now says his “political philosophy is pro-life.” And it quoted Romney adviser Michael Murphy as saying: “He’s been a pro-life Mormon faking it as a pro-choice friendly.”
WashingtonPost.com – June 2005
When he ran for US Senate in liberal-leaning Massachusetts in 1994, Romney said abortion should be ‘’safe and legal.” As a candidate for governor in 2002, he said he would keep the state’s abortion rights laws intact and has since said that he kept that promise. But this year, as he began preparing a potential run for president, Romney said he is ”in a different place” than he was when he first ran for office in 1994 and has stressed that he is ”personally prolife.”
Boston.com – July 2005
Like Frist, John McCain, the Republican senator with the highest national profile, has reversed his position on the issue and now supports an expansion of the research.
“It’s a very complex scientific issue,” McCain (Ariz.) told NBC’s Tim Russert earlier this year. “But for us to throw away opportunities to cure diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and many others I think would be a mistake.”
Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), another possible presidential contender, is a longtime critic of the House approach.
“The vote in the House to allow taxpayer-funded destruction of young human lives is deeply troubling,” Brownback said. “We all have a duty to protect the innocent, and this vote represents a failure to recognize the scientific fact that stem-cell research that destroys embryos kills young human children.”
TheHill.com – October 2005
That doesn’t sound like a 100% Pro-Life voting record to me.
In 2004, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said he opposed a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage:
Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona broke forcefully with President Bush and the Senate GOP leadership Tuesday evening over the issue of same-sex marriage, taking to the Senate floor to call a constitutional amendment that would effectively ban the practice unnecessary — and un-Republican. “The constitutional amendment we’re debating today strikes me as antithetical in every way to the core philosophy of Republicans,” McCain said.
But yesterday, ABC reported that McCain confided to Jerry Falwell that he would support such an amendment:
McCain “reconfirmed” to Falwell that he would support a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman if a federal court were to strike down state constitutional bans on gay marriage.
ThinkProgress.org – March 2006
So which is it Senator McCain, for or against an amendment???
Huckabee is sucking up to Mccain big time, he wants the vp job bad, but what a dirty trick the two are playing. Let us get Romney out of the game, two against one we will win for sure. I hope Americans can see how rotten Mccain and Huck are, they are cheating all the way to claim the whitehouse. Dirty Men, dirty minds.
Skip Mccain, vote for Romney.
Gee, Huckabee attacking Romney to help McCain? What a shock! Huckabee’s been kissing up to McCain for a long time now, hoping McCain will throw him a bone if McCain gets nominated. It’s disappointing to me that Huckabee would perpetuate McCain’s dishonesty.
Vote Conservative. Vote Experience. Vote Leadership. Vote Change in Washington. Vote Romney.
No, I think Romney needs to stop telling lies!
Better “Question of the Day” Did Fox’s false reporting that Huckaee was pulling out of Florida by Sean Hannity and others hurt Huckabee. To quote O’Reilly What say you? Fair? Balanced? Let you decide? I’m not seeing that in Huckabee’s case. Consistent negative coverage for Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee likes to get laughs. I’d love to see him say to the folks of McCain’s home district 11 in Arizona, “I’ve never known John McCain to be dishonest.” There would be an uproar of laughter. (until they realized he was serious, and clueless) Last year they voted to censure McCain for “dereliction of duty.”
I wonder – Could Mike Huckabee stand face to face with John McCain’s first wife, look her in the eye and honestly try to convince her of John’s honesty and integrity? (without shame)
You are not covering the election, you are trying to influence its outcome. If you were reporting facts, you would have mentioned that the crowd who came to see Huckabee in Birmingham was HUGE, that even the overflow room(s) were packed, and that people were EXCITED and ENTHUSIASTIC!
You also keep using the term “Front runner” only in reference to McCain and Romney, but you NEVER mention the FACT that Huckabee is SECOND IN ALL THE NATIONAL POLLS.
Hello!?! There is a whole country out there beyond the hotel rooms and bars that the journalists frequent. You might just call us “flyover country,” but we are real people and we like Mike. Some of us have even graduated from college. Imagine that.
they both just shot themselves in the foot, especially McCain. The meteoric rise of Romney in the polls is unbelievable after Iowa and NH. He will continue to gain steam, especially if he wins Florida and people become more concerned with the economy and less concerned with Iraq.
So now, McCain and the Huckster are trying to beat Romney by joining in on a tag-team. Governor Romney still has more votes than both of them combined! Good luck?
Ahhh, the old Huckster sniff’n around for a possible VP chair. I read the report and McCain is being dishonest and completely took this out of context, course he is a straight talk’n polotician—
Carl.
I wish you wouldn’t lower the name of Huckabee, and put it at the same level as Romney’s…Don’t you remember who showed up at the top of the dirtiest campaign list in the Fox poll….For Romney to call anybody dishonest,in light of the lies He’s told,is disgusting….He’s a whiner. He likes to dish it out,but can’t take it….For him to call anyone dishonest, after the way he skirted around the religion issue again,is in itself dishonest….He says that religion shouldn’t matter, well maybe thats true, to some, but He also stood up for what He believes in and defended his faith and, that’s what, puts him in the liars seat……Mormons believe that their living Prophet,is above scripture, and above God,and that” if you take the Prophet out of polotics, that would take God out of government” Lds prophet Ezra taft Benson, stated this on Feb.26,1980…….Mr. Romney is a Bishop that has entered into a covenant, and is bound, and held accountable to the living prophet…..that tells me that his purpose for wanting to be president is first to further His religion, that he says shouldn’t matter(He’s the Liar)He’s running his campaign as of late on the economy, and if you look at the avenues He’s taken to accomplish what he boasts of,you’ll find the same deceptive Bishop Mitt as you see when He gives his little deceptive discertations on his religion (which says nothing at all),…and all it takes in this day and age of technology,to find out these lies,is some careful research…..as The Mormons oft say when in a pinch,,,By their fruits ye shall know them….However when this is directed to or at, them, they whine and point the finger at somebody else, falling back on that old theory, that the best defense is a good offense…We,in America, better get our heads out of the sand and take the time to find out what we’re really getting, should we vote for Bishop Romney, and HIS VEEP,which is the LIVING PROPHET OF THE LDS CHURCH…….This guy is a Mormon first, where you and I fit in is well down the list of priorities, well below the Living prophet, and the LDS Church,…..BY Christian standards they are a Cult not in line with the septuagint of the Bible,or the Canon of Scripture….By Americn standards,we have a right to know in detail, what we’re getting for our vote!!!!!!!! The fact of the matter is,that should ths man(Mitt Romney)have to tell us thru a question and answer format, about what and How his religion would play a part in his presidency,He would have to step aside .He’d have to tell us about the many Gods that they believe in,and that God has wives, and that they(Mormons)will actually become Gods….He’d also have to tell you that you cannot have salvation outside of the LDS CHURCH…Everything I’ve said here,I’VE READ,IN THEIR LITERTURE. F or a lot of yrs. now I’ve been studying various false religions, and know just a little bit more, than some would like me to expose. However, my wish is for the American voter to bear me out,and check just some of these things out for yourself, and then determine who is lying….You owe it to your children and grand children,if not to yourself………McCain, and Huckabee are not the dishonest people in the race….its yours truly(the Bishop of deception)otherwise known as Mitt
Carl,
That will never happen. McCain’s choice for VP would be either someone capable of capturing the crossover vote ( ie. Lieberman) or someone capable of garnering the support of staunch conservatives ( ie. Thompson, or someone else). Senator Graham wouldn’t surprise me.
I am a conservative Republican, but feel our best chance to defeat Hillary or Obama would definitely be Leiberman.
It seems Carl is too busy to update the blog!!!!!
Is he trying to be VP? Carl you answered your own question. Huck is jelous of Mitts success. That is a sin. And the answer is YES
McCain’s running mate will be especially important, as voters will have to seriously consider whether he (GOP won’t put forward a female) might be President during the term. Given this, no way it’s Huckabee…will be a safe, conservative option (longshot would be Lieberman). Huckabee could be vying for a cabinet post, which he’d be quite happy with.
LET MIKE HUCKABEE SPEAK!!

I am disappointed at Fox. Every time I watch Fox, you are “pumping” the Mormon. I don’t see too much of a difference between the Clintons and Romney. $$$ can buy a lot! I am a Republican and these choices look so “plastic”. The only one I see like a real human being, like me, is Huckabee; but, all you do is laugh at him. The abortionists, gays and atheists are against him. They make a lot of noise, and we are catering to them.
Maybe the rise of the Mormon (other than $$$) is due to Christ’s brother…..you know….the “other evil one”…we are getting ready to see the prophesy of the Bible….
Fair and balance????? Carl? give me a break….
Willis – it is good to see the biggotry still alive and kicking. You anti-mormon folks amuse me at this point. Why don’t you worry about what Mitt has done on his record and stick to his stances instead of worrying about theological differences. Can you give me one shred of evidence that the church leadership influenced his decision making while he was Governor of Mass????? NO YOU CAN’T!!
Just come out and say that you don’t like the religion and start spouting liar liar pants on fire to show the true maturity of your comments. Otherwise look at the candidates on their record and stances.
McCain can’t be trusted. if elected there wouldn’t be one conservative oppointment in his cabnet. It wouldn’t even surprise me if / when Obama gets the nominaton that McCain would have HRC as his VP they think just a like. He hedges around the illegls, immigration, amnisty, tax cuts, etc, etc, issues still, fence ? ? some maybe. The only issue he’s beems to be sure about is in the military side . And I’m sure pelosi and Reid would change his mind on that.
THINK, people!!!! When watching this video, I hardly saw an attack dog. What I saw was Mike Huckabee responding to a question posed to him in a calm manner with facts to back up his opinion in the “he said…he said” accusation and whining between the other two candidates. I saw a rational man, a candidate for POTUS, not VP, answering a question. That’s all.
Name calling and nastiness does not make your point.
The story here is in the crowd size in Alabama, where the question was posed to Mike Huckabee. Mike is going to do very well on Super Tuesday, using a tiny fraction of the money spent by either Mitt Romney or John McCain. Look up on this very site how much money has been spent and then look at the national polls and the polls in the Super Tuesday states. How can Hucklabee still be doing so well when pundits have all but given him up for lost? Because he has a message that resounds with educated, rational, Main Street Republicans who know integrity (not perfection, but integrity) when we see it, and who can smell Clintonesque slickness a mile away.
And we VOTE!
The Huckster is trying to be VP. I have lived in AZ for 20 years we know McCain is a liar. Romney did not call for a timetable for withdrawal and said he would veto the Dems attempt to set one in the same interview. This was an attempt to shift the topic from the economy which McCain is horrible at having only very recently coming out for the Bush tax cuts. Willis I am sure you must be a Huckster supporter given your misleading statements. Why don’t you ask the Huckster why he lied about having surgery to lose his weight.
Carl,
Please read the updates on research of McCain’s connection to Illegal alien advocates involved in his campaign.
Jerry Perenchio. He’s a National Finance Co-Chair of the McCain 2008 campaign and the billionaire founder of Spanish-language media conglomerate, Univision.

Lest we forget that McCain is the most liberal republican on the hill and he is happy to get Huck to back up his ‘alleged’ honesty as he is to get any endorsement, but as far as Huckabee positioning for a VP slot, I don’t see it happening. McCain has been joined at the hip with Liebermann throughout the last few weeks on the campaign. Conventional wisdom (or concern) is that McCain would tap Liebermann as his running mate if he goes up against Hillary, thinking that would be the clincher to overcome the left.
Rush Limbaugh just came out and said that he and many others agree that McCain was dishonest about his comment on Romney’s ‘timetables’…. Pretty dirty. McCain shows his true character when pressured. Rush says McCain’s behavior was ‘contemptable’ and even though he claims to be an ‘honorable man’ there was no honor in this. Rush compared McCain’s behavior to Clinton tactics.
He should apologize to Romney and I hope McCain’s dishonesty does hurt his votes in Florida – I hope the people wake up we have too much at stake.
Vote for Romney ‘08 !!
Unfortunately, there is a lot of talk out there about this McCain/huckabee “team” and it spells a defeat for the Republican Party. I am a long-time Republican thanks to Liberal values and their tax and spend policies who at this point will join a lot of long-time Repulicans sitting on the bench. This would be a travesty as these two have been put in their current position, not by Republicans, but by Liberals who claim to be independents. As long as this situation exists, the Conservatives have no chance and people like McCain and Huckabee will be the ones representing the party. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH RUSH!
Huckabee is still 2nd in the national polls!!
You wouldn’t know that if you only got your information from Fox News. Please thoroughly research all of the candidates. You will find that Mike Huckabee is our best chance to win the general election in November!
Carl, why aren’t you calling McCain out on his dishonesty?
Bain Capital (founded by Mitt Romney) bought within the past year controlling interest of Clear Channel Communications which syndicates talk radio shows like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. This is scary and makes me very queasy.
Could this explain the free pass of infrequent attacks and criticism along with major air-time exposure given to Romney and the absolute smear job, along with consistent inaccurate reporting launched against Mike Huckabee’s campaign and others?
So much for fair and balance. My wife and I have lost a lot of respect and trust for the one conservative news channel we thought we could depend on.
Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress
Jason check again, Huckabee is now 3rd in the national poll. Oh, and is also 3rd in CA. Huckabee in finished…
mc cain the flip flopper, his mind is going over age 65,can not stand for this own record, even his mom wont vote for him ,he is a democrate.
why doesnt the news keep mc cain honest?isnt that there job?any one can hold a mike?He is the flip flppper and will say anything,he is a democrate.even his mom wont vote for him.
Carl, you are a spineless reporter. You, along with everyone else know, that McCain is making up a bunch of lies to try and further his campaign. McCain now realizes he can’t win on his own and he is gone from desperation mode to sheer panic. While Romney ran DOCUMENTED FACT ads against McCain, Romney was blasted by you and several of your cohorts on Fox news that Romney was “attacking” McCain. Romney didn’t lie in those ads, but you call his tactic attacking.
Fast Forward. McCain, who by the way has said he would never run “attack” ads and stoop to Romney’s level, has found a new level of his own. Called exaggerating the truth and downright misleading people. LIES. YET… Carl and the rest of Fox News doesn’t have the BALL’s to call McCain out on it. Ever news print source says that McCain is wrong. You guys will talk and sort of laugh that McCain is wrong, not to his face. But you guys won’t confront McCain on it. WHY? Are you scared? Or are you just pandering to McCain? Which is it, because god knows you have had several opportunities to call McCain on the carpet, but nobody has done it. So why not?
Fair and Balanced my butt!
Now that Fred Thompson and the Club for Growth have effectively destroyed Mike Huckabee’s chances for the nomination, the conservative media continue to stomp on him. Romney may be able to buy the nomination with massive advertising that shifts the polls in the last days before the primaries, but he will not be able to buy the general election. FOXNews will have destroyed the only real chance it had for the Republicans to retain the White House by giving Huckabee, the only man who could reach across the divide, an honest chance. They have destroyed America’s best chance to save itself.
If you saw Osama Bin Laden walking down the street, what would you do? Well, that is pretty much the way many of us feel about Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Tim Russert, and the other amoral thugs who have thrown away America’s future in their blind attempts to protect the fat cats.
Jonathan Singer: There’s a story in The Hill, I think on Tuesday, by Bob Cusack on the front page of the paper talking about how John McCain’s people — John Weaver — had approached Tom Daschle and a New York Congressman, I don’t remember his name, about switching parties. And I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about what your discussions were with him in 2004, how far it went, who approached whom… if there was any “there” there.
John Kerry: I don’t know all the details of it. I know that Tom, from a conversation with him, was in conversation with a number of Republicans back then. It doesn’t surprise me completely because his people similarly approached me to engage in a discussion about his potentially being on the ticket as Vice President. So his people were active — let’s put it that way.
Singer: Okay. And just to confirm, you said it, but this is something they approached you rather than…
Kerry: Absolutely correct. John Weaver of his shop… [JK aswers phone]
1) Willis, you’re a bigot and an idiot
2) Carl Cameron, you aren’t too far behind Willis
3) Huckabee will be going back to charging $25k to churches to do sermons 6months from now, and thats all he’ll ever do again because he sucks at everything else
4) McCain isn’t the honorable straight-talker that you think he is, and he’s definitely not conservative
I liked McCain at first, but not anymore. I think I’m going with Mitt.
Hearing Mr. Huckabee defend Mc Cain raises my expectations of Mr. Huckabee for I would want to assume that if Sen. Mc Cain said something incorrectly about Mr. Romney that Mr. Huckabee would also be quick to defend Mr Romney. Maybe he is doing some sowing where he hopes to reap. Should either of them , Mc Cain or Romeny say something about him (and it seems Mr. Romney is quick like Sen. Clinton in derogatory remarks about others) someone else would be quick to defend him.
Huckabee is a low life who graduated from the Bill Clinton school of political ethics.
sorry jason but mitt is number 2 in the national poll.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-192.html
PLease my good friends! Get behind Romney tomorrow. Get someone fresh in the whilte house! We need GOOD change.
Media has jumped on the lasted Fad bandwagon….Hello Huckabee is still polling 2nd in the Nation!!!! Not to mention Delagates as of today.
His air time in the Florida debate was literally half of Mitt Romney’s….He still DID FABULOUS for his 11 mins.
HE is the Only candidate republican or Democrat Who has a REAL PLAN FOR CHANGE
FAIR TAX!!!
He has a 9 point strategy for border control
He believes in protecting our RIGHTS
People Get over the fact that He is a Christian and Check out his Arkansas Governing Record
He was voted top 5 Governors by TIME Magazine!
He is the Voice for Middle and Lower income families Because he has been there…He knows what Americans Want and need
mikehuckabee.com Please leave Prejudice at the door upon entering
Hey carl ,i can hold a mike ,you let mc cain off the hook with his bs,what happened to fair and balanced? He is the flip-flopper not Mitt,do your job,mc cain is just another democrate.
Romney is Slick Willie. Arrogant and big $$$. Why aren’t his sons in the Service? Why wasn’t he? If he is such a Bush Backer, why don’t they Serve? Because he is a big money, big business man. Another greedy corporate America politician. He says one thing yet does another. I don’t trust him one bit. I don’t see one redeeming quality in him. He appears to be a robot – willing to say the “right thing” “dress the appropriate way”; everything about him seems to be programmed. He gives me the creeps.
Rasmussen, the pollster who does everyday Presidential approval, now has a Republican National Presidential poll that has Romney up 3 points over McCain. That was a nice surprise today!!! Sure hope they are correct!
San Diego–A statewide poll of Florida voters for the Republican presidential primary election, released today by Datamar, Inc. Shows former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in first place with 35.6%. U.S. Senator John McCain is in second place with 23.2%; former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani is in third place in the polls with 14.8%; and former Governor from Arkansas Mike Huckabee is in fourth place with 13.2%. The findings are based on a January 25-27, 2008 survey of Florida voters. Support and vpte fpr Mitt Romney.
Huck will do himself justice by minding his own business. since when is he the spokes person for mcamnesty. If Huck wants to open a can of worms, do so at his own imperil, he becomes fair target too..
McAmnesty would promise anything to anyone just so he could get elected.
a man with no integrity at all. RINO McCain doesn’t get the support of true conservatives he’s way too unhinged and ignores his constituents more than he should. Now they won’t be there for him when he needs them most…
Mitt for responsible economics and immigration..
Me too sharon.. this vietnam vet will never vote for McAmnesty because of his lack of integrity. I’d rather anyone else elected but mc. I’ll ride the pine on this election if mc is nominated because Mc is essentially a dem and there would be no need.. Bloomberg prehaps if he runs
I was going to vote for Mike but I don’t like this coming to (D) McCain’s aid. I will NEVER vote for the anti-gun McCain, never. So my choices are Mike or Mitt, no one else. Otherwise I will not bother to vote since Obama is worse than Clinton, who is a traitor of America.
Maybe Huckabee took a shot at Mitt because Mitt was the first to go negative, spending a vast amount of “his” money on negative adds attacking Huckabee. As for Mitt spending his own money and, therefore, can’t be bought, please. Romney is just making a loan to his campaign. Once the election is over, he will beging fundraising to pay off his debt. What better time to buy a politician than after they won (sorry, Mitt, that won’t happen). Also, as you may recall from watching the debate, Mitt has raised more money than any other republican. So, don’t you think that those donors will want something. Lastly, what Mitt was trying to do on the GMA interview was get on both sides of the issue (a recurring habit for Mitt). By having a “secret” timeline if the surge went poorly he could go back to that interview and claim, see, I was a time line all along, I just didn’t want to let the enemy know in advance. The only question I have left is this” Is Mitt Romney the Bill Clinton of the Republican party or is Bill Clinton the Mitt Romney of the Democrats
Check this out…
http://www.massresistance.org/romney/
McCain has an unstable, vindictive, volcanic temper and behaves irrationally toward anyone who opposes him. He has a long dirty history of that. It’s part of his nature and character.
Many people he works with have expressed their concerns about this:
http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/8/30/123006.shtml
If you folks want another Bill Clinton, and some of you certainly indicate that you like that type of politics and lack of ethics, then vote for McCain!
I would hope that at least someone is in private discussions to bring our troops home. That is part of and exit stragety. To concede that you never would discuss, even in the confines of closed meetings, a target date (even a ball park figure) says that you have NO plan for exiting. I believe Governor Romney should be allowed to discuss a timetable to leave, or is it such a taboo to suggest that our troops should come home.
If Pastor Mike is the Veep for a McCain ticket – Utah, Idaho & Wyoming will vote Democrat for president for the first time since 1964 – and perhaps irrevocably destroy the Reagan coalition. All this because Pastor Mike took it upon himself to disregard Article 6 of the Constitution. Nice going fascist evangelical followers of Pastor Mike!

I agree with Rush, Mccain is a Democrat, Why isn’t Kennedy standing up for his Buddy here?
Ben Its becomig quite apparant that all of this name calling like bigot and the like,is revealing some truths here.Your problem is exactly, what you accuse others of.The issues aren’t important to you, because, when things are posted in qoutes, that put Romney in a different position than, the one you portray, you still hold your position….Its my thinking that you are the one voting religion
Condi needs to be the PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Draft her.
WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, ALL OF THE ONES WITH THE NAME TROWING AND ACCUSATIONS, YOU ACT JUST LIKE THE POLITICIANS CUTTING EACH OTHERS THROAT, AND SAYING AWFUL ACCUSATIONS ABOUT EVERYONE, I DON’T LIKE ROMNEY TO ME HIS IS A FLIP FLOPPER, BUT I WILL NOT SAY NASTY THINGS ABOUT HIM, HE IS A PERSON, I SOMEWHAT DON’T LIKE SOME OF THE THINGS MCCAIN SAYS BUT WILL NOT BAD MOUTH HIM EITHER, I AM A HUCKABEE BACKER AND HE ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS ASKED AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT FINE, I FIND ALL OF THE THINGS BEING SAID ABOUT ALL OF THE CANDIDATES IS AWFUL, THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR COUNTRY TODAY, NO ONE WANTS TO WORK TOGETHER, THEY JUST WANT TO CUT EACH OTHER TO PIECES, AFTER THE ELECTION ALL OF THESE CANDIDATES WILL PROBABLY WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY BUT AS PEOPLE WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THE DAMAGE, STOP PULLING DOWN YOUR FELLOW MAN, IF YOU DON’T LIKE A POLITICIAN THEN DON’T VOTE FOR HIM, QUIT JUDGING PEOPLES LIVES WITH WHAT YOU THINK WENT ON WITH THEM, REMEMBER RONALD REAGAN WAS MARRIED TWICE AND HE WAS A GREAT PRESIDENT, SO JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED AND STOP THE HATE AND WE NEED TO START COMING TOGETHER AS A COUNTRY OR WE WILL COLLAPSE.
If Huckabee spent less time kissing John McCains butt he might of stood a chance of winning the nomination, but there is no way that we want to liberals as our President and Vice. McCain is flat out lying about Romneys record and comments. I believe that the voters will see through McCain/Huckabee’s tag team here. Romney is the beest man for the job. Florida get out and vote for the true conserative in the race, Vote Romney !!! GO ROMNEY!!!
Romney is a joke. He is a blow-dried Manchurian Candidate if there ever was one. He will say anything to get elected, and spend his family’s fortune in what is nothing more than an ego trip. At least McCain is willing to act according to conviction even when it hurts him politically (remember who backed the war effort even when it was political suicide to do so). McCain is far from perfect, but he is certainly better than that blow-dried rich boy who is trying to buy the presidency.
McCain is a has been. He is a crusty Washington insider who has consistently crossed the isle and sided with democrats on critical issues.
McCain is a man who cannot be trusted to stand up for conservative values. He is a person who courted the liberal John Kerry to be his vice presidential running mate in Kerry’s run for the presidency.
There is a rumor that McCain would consider selecting Joe Lieberman as his running mate for the presidency, which would explain the reason why Lieberman has been so active and vocal in his support and campaigning efforts on McCain’s behalf.
McCain has received key endorsements from democrats and the liberal media. He has received as many, or more, endorsements from the liberal media than any democrat candidate running for the nomination.
It is said that you are known by the company you keep… McCain has stated on numerous occasions that he considers Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Joe Lieberman among his closest friends.
If you would like a democrat running as the nominee for the republican party… vote for McCain.
Give me a break. You cough up an article about Huckabee being McCains attack dog. Funny Carl, but I seemed to have missed your report about Thompson being McCains wingman in SC so Huckabee could not win there. What a joke. Why dont you shills over at FOX just dispense with the BS and rename the network ROMNEYVISION. ALL ROMNEY…ALL THE TIME!
Your network is dropping like a rock in popularity with the Christian Right. Where is the discussion of Mitts completely PRO GAY record in MASS? And you pathetic losers at FOX still try to pawn him off as a conservative? Are you taking LSD???
Mike Huckabee is the only REAL conservative in this race. Last time I checked he never supported gay marriage or baby killing at TAX PAYER expense. Fox new SUCKS.

Of couse I mention it numerous times. Why? Because I know full well that the folks at ROMNEYVISION (FOX) will never mention this guys baby killing pro gay record.
Huckabee is not polling 2nd, he is polling way back nationally, while
Romney 29
McCain 27
Huckabee is only 2nd in the deligate count because real clear politics is obviously not paying attention, and gave him 30 deligates when he only got 18 or 19 in Iowa. They still count deligates for Thompson, who is out and the deligates will go to others.
Romney leads the deligate count with 73
McCain has 36
Huckabee has 28 or 29
Huckabee knows he’s not in 2nd place, but what he does best is lies.
Romney has the momentum, though Fox is Shilling hard for McCain and the liberal media who fears Romney (because they know what a threat in a general election Romney is) are unfair to Romney and pulling for McCain (because McCain has a lot of problems and could not win, regardless of what people think in the country yet, because they have just begun to pay attention, and McCain’s name is well known. As Romney gets exposure around the country his numbers go up, as shown in the national poll he is on top now.
Romney is the best thing we have, I liked Rudy, but Rudy isn’t going to make it, I have to be realistic. I would be extatic with either Rudy or Romney because they are both phenominal candidates.
A “flip flopper” as the republicans applied it was to denote what Kerry did, when he gave diametrically opposed positions to different crowds on the same day, sometimes 3 times in a day. He also changed during the same campaign.
Lately Hillary Clinton has taken several possitons on one subject in the same debate, must have been coached by Slick Willey, as it seems like McCain has been lately.
Romney is not a flip flopper by any means. He has changed possitions, it’s been over years. I mean who hasn’t?
Remember Ronald Regan? A personal hero of mine since he came to my town, talked to me as a kid, and shook my hand back in the early 70s before he lost the primary to President Ford (who lost to an idiot who knew about as much about the economy as McCain, Jimmy Carter). A few years before he shook my hand that great man, Ronald Reagan, was a democrat. Call him a flip flopper? I don’t think so.
Reagan was a governor, like Romney was. Reagan wasn’t in the military, but he was the most sucessful comander in cheif we’ve had in a very long time. He won the cold war and brought down the evil empire of the Soviet Union, freeing milions of people from oppression.
We need a leader, not a POW who we owe, but we don’t owe the presidency because it is so important, and we can’t make thousands of POWs (of which McCain is no better than one of thousands of others) president, can we?
McCain has nothing but association with the military and former POW status as qualifications. None of which mean a hill of beans in real life practical qualifications. He has never been a leader, he’s never even been honest or loyal to his party, his country, and especially not to logic. He’s been loyal only to his image. He has ZERO executive expiriance, and that is why Senators don’t do well in presidential elections, governors do much better.
If you want to look at electability, look to the record of Senators in presidential elections. The last one was JFK, all the rest have nearly all been Governors.
Only two in our entire history, Warren Harding and John F. Kennedy, won their presidential races as senators. Running a Governor against a Senator? I like those odds.
WAYLAND, MASS. (1981) — ARREST- DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
In June 1981, ROMNEY attempted to launch family motorboat at Cochituate State Park despite park ranger advising that he was prohibited from doing so because his boat did not display proper registration. ROMNEY was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. ROMNEY handcuffed and transported in bathing suit to Natick police station, where released on own recognizance.5 Disposition: Charges were dropped when ROMNEY threatened to sue the state for false arrest; case dismissed at Natick District Court in February 1982. ROMNEY successfully petitioned that the files be sealed.6
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. (c. 1965) — ARREST- CHARGE NOT KNOWN.
ROMNEY was arrested along with future wife Ann Davies for actions in connection with practical joke at Cranbrook Academy. Reportedly ROMNEY and several friends “bought huge blocks of ice from the local gas station, laid towels over them, and went sliding down the slopes of a nearby golf course.”7
HUNTSVILLE, UTAH (2002) — USE OF PROFANITY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
On February 10, 2002, while overseeing 2002 Winter Olympics, ROMNEY became extremely angry upon encountering a traffic jam at a venue and proceeded to berate two persons authorized to direct traffic there, including with obscenity laced tirades, according to a police captain at the scene and a volunteer targeted by ROMNEY. The traffic volunteer Shaun Knopp stated that ROMNEY “asked me who the f___ I was and what the f___ I was doing. We got the Olympics going on we don’t need this s___ down here.”8 Weber County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Terry Shaw, commander of the Snowbasin venue, stated that ROMNEY twice used the F-word while also berating one of his officers, Deputy Kodi Taggart. Capt. Shaw stated that ROMNEY “was abusive” to his officer and advised, unsuccessfully, that “he needs to apologize.”9 ROMNEY denied part of the allegation, insisting he hadn’t used the F-word since high school — but admitted he used a word he described as “H-E-double hockey sticks.” Disposition: The Utah Department of Safety advised it had decided against initiating a “profanity probe.”10
FABIAN, ALAN: Until August 2007, FABIAN was a national finance committee co-chair for ROMNEY. Now under federal indictment for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice and defrauding companies of $32 million in Maryland.11
GARRITY, JAY (a/k/a “Trooper”): Until July 2007, GARRITY provided security and advance for ROMNEY whom he codenamed “LXX”; GARRITY now under investigation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for impersonating a police officer and other charges.12
HEALEY, KERRY MURPHY (a/k/a “SHERRY” 13): HEALEY recruited by ROMNEY as accomplice for 2002 Governor’s race; subsequently relegated to background role.
POSSIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY (1983)
In 1983, ROMNEY transported the family Irish setter, SEAMUS, in a dog carrier strapped to the roof of his Chevrolet station wagon during a 12-hour drive from Boston, Mass. to Lake Huron. No complaint was made or charges filed at time. However, Massachusetts law prohibits carrying an animal “in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon.”14
POSSIBLE RECKLESS DRIVING (date unknown)
According to a published account, “red lights make [ROMNEY] impatient.” Per the report, at a red light at an intersection in Boston, “There was a truck in front of him but no other traffic anywhere in sight… .So [ROMNEY] pulled out around the truck — to the left of the truck and then right in front of it — and made a right turn. Then, at the next intersection, where again there was no traffic, he stopped and then went straight on through a red light. And then, suddenly, a policeman appeared out of nowhere.15
ALLEGED BRUSH WITH INTRUDER (c. MID 1960s)
Subject ROMNEY maintains that while a high school student at Cranbrook School in Michigan he encountered an intruder in his dorm: ROMNEY, who says, “I figured I was dead for sure,” states he escaped the unknown intruder by jumping out a ground-floor window and running for help.16

“I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”Boston Globe, 6/24/07
– Flippin’ Mitt
Speaking of cutting each other’s throats… Is Carl & Fox News intentionally shifting the message to national security instead of the economy? (McCain votes vs. Romney votes?) Of course. They use their media presence to shift.
The home page for Fox News today (Florida Primary Day) has a large picture next & text, “Fanatic’s Barbaric Orders: Behead him like a Pig”. Why not a big picture of the candidates instead of highlighting a plot to kidnap a Muslim British soldier, cut off his head, and post video of the atrocity on the Web.
Why should we care about this plot, except to draw a grisly focus back to terrorists, war and not the economy. Shallow … but expected.
Go Mitt
Listen to all of the hate and playing of words that are coming from all of you that support Romney. Just like a liberal. Romney is fake. Wake up America!!!

“campaign carl” seems a little to “joined at the hip” to McCain’s campaign to be as “fair and balanced” as I’ve come to expect out of FOX.
“hey, carl” think you could report from Romney campaign hdqtrs instead of McCain’s once in a blue moon? and how about staying at a nuetral campaign site until polls close?
The MSM is providing more than enought free campaign “advertising” exposure for McCain; I think FOX should not follow that trend.
and could someone please start to be “fair and balanced” concerning Romney and his “millions” by also reporting the massive amount of campaign contributions he has received from donors other than himself; what he has given his own campaign is much, much less than contributions from others, AND he has a name recognition/background deficit with McCain, so to run successfully he would have needed more advertising requiring more campaign funds! I’m tired of the favored status McCain is receiving from “news” reporters, including FOXNEWS.
Donna,We’ll all answer to one person someday,no matter how much money we have….and it will be the same person…….but it won’t be who Romney thinks it is
Mr. Bloom.good post…the proof is in the puddin …I congratulate you,and encourage you to not let these Romney followers discourage you….The reason I say that,is because no matter how much proof you have, you’ll find that the same people, that make the comments you see on this page will be saying the same thing tomorrow, even in light of Romneys Florida Loss….There’s only one answer to that. They are the ones to cry and whine when they’re called out on issues that they have no defense for, like the lies, that are apparant from what you,and others point out,and then there’s the things I post out of their own literature……but they’ll still be followers, and it doesn’t have much to do with polotics….the issues they post are camaflouge, but there is a reason, and its not hard to figure out
Tennison, read Blooms comment and click on the link and then get to the alter and ask for forgiveness….its Romney who’s doing the lying
If you’re looking for perfection in a candidate, you won’t find it. The most qualified, best candidate is still Romney. He’s willing to serve our country – without pay and without personal ambition or pride.
I can’t hold my nose and vote for McCain or Huckabee because of demonstrated dishonesty and bigotry. I’ll likely cast a write-in vote for Romney.
I’m still holding out that I can actually vote for Romney. Go Mitt..
What I learned from this incident? (1) Mitt Romney, at a critical juncture in our country’s destiny, didn’t have a clue about how to proceed. When we have men and women on the ground, in harm’s way, a Commander in Chief hasn’t the luxury of waiting for hindsight. And (2) Mitt Romney doesn’t know the difference between an issue and a personal attack. OK. McCain stretched Romney’s initial public statement about what he’d do in Iraq, but he made his point that Romney isn’t qualified to take over the military and foreign affairs.. McCain, using a technique as old as debate, succeeded in luring Mitt and redirecting the discussion towards Romney’s lack of understanding and skills in military matters and foreign affairs.
Mitt responded by calling McCain names and savaging McCain’s character and impugning McCain’s motives. Does Mitt understand that McCain’s throwing out the “timetable” lure is kid’s stuff when compared to the heat of the kitchen in Washington? And how did Romney respond? He whined about “timing” and accused McCain of being a Nixon plumber. Oh really? Seems that McCain’s statements were all very, very public. Talk about dragging the issue into the dirt. Does Romney understand that if he’d made those insane and personal attacks on John McCain’s character and motives in the House or the Senate, his words would have been taken down and he would have been subject to discipline by the chair? And since when are his opponents obligated to stick to Romney’s agenda for “bringing up issues”?!!
Romney debates like a bully and he simply doesn’t have the depth or the knowledge to survive in the real world of politics. He has this quaint notion that savaging an opponents’ character is the same as savaging an opponents’ position on an issue. His hubris is so astoundingly outsized that he has no concept that making enemies by school yard name-calling will insure that even if he is elected, no one in the other equal branches of government will work with him. He keeps bringing up the specter of Reagan’s term. What he doesn’t understand is that the secret to Reagan’s success in Washington was that Reagan understood the difference between debate and personal attack. Reagan’s political opponents respected him and he respected them. There was no more partisan politician than Tip O’Neil, but like Reagan, Tip understood that a difference on the issues didn’t preclude respect and liking for an opponent. What I’m seeing in Romney is that behind the clean-cut exterior, is something I do not trust and do not like. The President is not a CEO—sometimes the President has to recognize that he/she is not going to have his/her way on everything and an opponent just may have legitimate and respectable views. “That man will say anything to become President,” says Mitt. And just like Mitt thought tying his dog to the roof of the car was a funny story, he hasn’t a clue what a hypocrite this makes him. Disgusting and a dangerous blind spot for the man who would be President.
I wonder if Mitt has ever read “On Liberty” by John Stewart Mills? I wonder if his supporters have ever read “Conscience of a Conservative”?

For those of you that think Huckabee is your chose I’ld like to say that after Fox News Sunday when Huckabee said he didn’t think McCain has ever said anything dishonest, Huckabee is not the man I thought he was. Ever since November I wanted Huckabee to win but after the Sunday show I’m not sure if I can vote for anybody. I would like to say I’ve never liked Mitt Romney, but if your only choice is Huckabee, McCain, or Romney who are you going to vote for. I think the most dangerous one of the three is McCain, the only thing he knows about the economy is what he’s learned in Washington that to me has nothing to do with what’s going on in the real world. I’m not telling anybody who to vote for but if McCain is elected this country will go into a depression for which it has never seen before. Pray for the people here who can be prayed for.
