Ouch! Crist Endorses McCain and Leaves Giuliani Holding Nat Cap!
Coconut Grove, Fl:
Things just keep getting worse for Giuliani. While the Real Clear Politics poll averages for Florida show Rudy’s precipitous slide in the polls, he suffers a humiliating backhand from the Governor of Florida. Despite Rudy’s incessant courtship of Charlie Crist, and Guiliani’s embrace of Crist’s National Catastrophic Disaster Insurance Fund, Crist decided to endorse McCain. Add the nod from US senator Mel Martinez (former RNC chairman) and McCain has won more establishment support in Florida in the last 3 days than Rudy has in a month.

if i were a rudy or rudy supporter, i’d show crist what i though of his backhanded endorsement. I would endorse and vote for Romney.
What a surprise, career politicians (mccain, crist, Guilliani) stabbing each other in the back. Wow! I wonder if he’d lie to achieve the power he’s been salivating over since GW wooped up on him in 2000. How many people would he owe big if he were to become commander in cheif? Straight talk express my ___. I’d rather sit it out this time than vote for him. I could almost pallet any of the others over Hilldog or Barak hussein,
McCain’s Family Values
He ditched his first wife after she got in a bad accident and became partially disabled.
He then had an affair with his now wife, who he later married. Then her dad bought McCain a seat in Congress (no wonder he liked John Kerry so much).
He filed a brief with Senate Democrats fighting against the 1st Amendment rights of pro-life advocates in Wisconsin.
He has voted against a federal amendment to protect marriage.
He has voted against tax cuts for American families, but for giving social security to illegal immigrants.
Why don’t you add three more seven to ten day old polls that show McCain leading by three to five percent?…Then the averages would still show McCain leading the composite. Whats the matter with you guys? If you dont keep showing Senator McCain in the lead it may look as if he has lost his MO… I am surprised you even put this one up given that Romney is shown with a microscopic lead. I guess its better than showing Romney with the larger lead that would have appeared had you dropped those 7 day old polls.
Massachusetts Healthcare Plan Costs Skyrocket

(CNSNews.com) – According to recent reports, the cost of Massachusetts’ health insurance mandate will rise 85 percent, or $400 million, in 2009. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), meanwhile, has been on the presidential campaign trail praising the program he put into place.
According to The Boston Globe, the cost increase is largely due to an increase in the number of people signing up for state-subsidized health insurance. State and federal taxpayers are likely to shoulder the cost increase.
“Essentially, the people who signed up under the mandate were the people who were getting subsidies,” said Michael Tanner, director of health and welfare studies at the libertarian Cato Institute.
Carmen Balber, a consumer advocate at Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, added, “What we’ve seen happen in Massachusetts is that lots of people are signing up for subsidized care,” although “just 7 to 8 percent of the people who have newly signed up for health insurance have enrolled in a program they must pay full price for.”
Tanner told Cybercast News Service that the state will likely need to raise taxes to cover the additional costs.
Romney, however, has been campaigning on the health insurance plan as a success.
“We put in place a plan that gets every citizen in our state health insurance, and it didn’t cost us new money,” he said during the Republican debate in New Hampshire on Jan. 5. “It didn’t require us to raise taxes.”
“Mitt Romney likes to brag that he got universal coverage in Massachusetts without a tax increase,” said Tanner. “I don’t think that’s going to be true for long.”
Romney said he would not mandate at the federal level that every state adopt Massachusetts’ plan, “but what I would say at the federal level is we’ll keep giving you these special payments we make if you adopt plans that get everybody insured,” he said during the debate.
“I’d say each state needs to get busy on the job of getting all our citizens insured,” he added. “It does not cost more money.”
“It didn’t cost any more money while he was governor because it wasn’t in effect while he was governor,” said Tanner, noting that Romney is likely to drop the issue while campaigning.
“He’s in a bit of a bind. It’s his signature accomplishment,” he said. “Mitt Romney has found out that you can’t be a little bit pregnant on government-run healthcare. It’s hard to tell everyone you’re the heir to Ronald Reagan while you’re touting Hillary Clinton’s health care plan. There is no material difference between the two.”
Balber said the new cost estimates have proven Romney wrong. Her state of California has a similar plan that would mandate residents buy private health insurance and subsidize coverage for those who could not afford it.
“The proponents for this measure take a very low estimate for the number – 5.6 million – for the number of uninsured in California. Broadly, 6.5 to 7 million is considered the reasonable estimate,” Balber told Cybercast News Service.
“California is also facing a huge budget deficit, so the idea that they are going to be able to take on the enormous new expense of this Schwarzenegger health care plan on top of this budget deficit they are facing is absurd,” said Tanner.
Romney’s campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this article.
CRIST’S ENDORSEMENT AMOUNTS TO A BIG 0 (ZERO)!
He is ONLY THE GOVERNOR THERE BECAUSE JEB BUSH COULDN’T/DIDN”T RUN. JEB BUSH’S POLITICAL MACHINE; top aides, Precint Captains, etc ARE SUPPORTING ROMNEY!
NOW THATS WHAT I CALL AN ENDORSEMENT!
Obviously Charlie Crist is a backstabber. McCain probably offered him some lame position in a cabinet he will never have. I will definitely vote for Rudy Giuliani. Wouldn’t it be sweet to watch Giuliani win and leave egg on Crist’s face. That would be well worth it, so FLORIDA VOTE FOR RUDY!!
This headline should read: ROMNEY’s got momentum. He’s ahead. This is the news!!!
K. Scott,
I’ve read your comment, and am a bit confused…..It seems that there are a few folk here on this page that are telling me just the opposite……This health plan was initiated,by a proven buisness man that can do no wrong, don’t you know that.My goodness man,Ive heard about Staples, etc, and all the success, surrounding this guy,are you sure we’re talking about the same guy.
Good point friend, these people will be paying for this for a long, long time…….and Mitt will be nowhere to be found…Ah but his signature is on the bottom of the page….the poor people of Michigan got taken in by Captin Deceiver I’m sorry to say.I mean where was their favoite son when they needed Him,with all that buisness prowess.gGven that the family was in the Auto Buisness,Dad was the Governor,He should have known how to fix their problem.Well I’m told He knows how to fix it now,and needing their votes didn’t have anything to do with it(yeah right)This guy got an answer to everything, ask him he’ll tell you anything you want to hear…….he was a moderate when He was a Governor, and stood for abortion, and many other things, jus as Carl reported this afternoon,He’s a flip flopper pointing the finger a other people, for the very kind of things He’s guilty of….enough said
How come nobody is reporting this poll showing Romney with a large lead over McAmnesty in FL? Most important, it was released today–after the Crist endorsement
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Florida_Release_012808.pdf
Wow,we’ve got McCain, being critisized for being divorced,Rudy, had marital problems,Huckabee is just a bad seed, according to Romney people…..and then there’s Mitt….good marriage, maybe, but if so,why is he working so hard to attain that Planet near the star of Kolab, where He’ll spend eternity, with his many wives, and be a God himself….Didn’t Lucifer want the same thing??….sounds to wild to be true doesn’t it,well google up his beliefs,or go to the web site that was offered earlier in this campaign saintsalive.com……..its almost impossible to pick from this crew, but seeing how its Romney and his band of followers, that are doing some of the judging,I just thought I’d offer my two cents…..after some evaluation here,it seems to me that Huckabee,is the most honest, most responsible, most reasonable, best suited, and has accomplished more than the flip floppers…Oh I’ll probably hear some whining, but its expected ,because when you get what you dish out,it sort of rubs against the grain….no???
I don’t know about the rest of the country…. but the way the Media has tried to sway this election has gotten even more egregious.
As far as your “POLL” Numbers go…. an earlier poll couldn’t have been farther from the truth in Iowa and New Hampshire…. So PLEASE stop blasting the airwaves with this concept that Guiliani doesn’t stand a chance in Florida.
It’s so OBVIOUSLY designed to discourage voters from voting for a candidate that MEDIA Outlets “SAY” doesn’t have a chance…. it’s absurd… and the problem is for a small percentage of voters.. this type of tactic could actually work.
It’s obvious that most Media outlets are Pro Democrat so when you Piggy back off the latest BS POLL that some guy made up that doesn’t even reflect true voter sentiment … it doesn’t make you look small or petty.
It just makes you LOOK STUPID…. Let the VOTERS pick the candidate…
I’m so sick of this nonsense out the media… You tried it last election with Kerry too.. How’d that work out? Like a group of small children who feel like they didn’t get everything they had on their christmas list and It’s Transparent to anyone with a brain.
I live in NH, however I have several relatives scattered all around Florida. Why don’t you guys report that Romney has a larger lead over McCain than you say. McCain has no family values, voted against tax cuts. The endorsement of Crist will back fire on him. floridians know that he wants a cabinet position if McCain (which is unlikely) gets the nomination. I hope when “President Romney” takes over office, you, the media will finally learn to stop trying to sway the poles. When will you learn to report the news, not make it up????? Especially you, Cameron! I think you belong on CNN (Clinton News Network).
The comment by Michelle Cooley hits the news right on the head. Romney Is The News. What bothers me is that all the news agencies, even Fox, which advertises daily, “Fair and Balanced”, manages to ignore on a daily basis as much of the Romney campaign and the victories as they possibly can. Why is this? On every station, every program, all the other candidates are getting more face-time from the news agencies than Romney. It looks like a concerted effort is being made, even on Fox, to focus as much attention on ANYBODY, but Romney, to bring up anything negative possible about Romney that can be manufactured about him. We actually watched Brian Wilson the other day make a negative comment about the way Romney eats fried chicken!!!! If Fox is going to advertise fair and balanced as a motto it is about time that they start BEING MORE FAIR AND BALANCED and start giving Romney the face-time and positive press he deserves.
I think the poll that showed Romney so far ahead,as my friend above pointed out, must have been taken veeeeeary early, because the results dont coincide with the poll by Golly!!!!…ooops
