McCain and Romney: The Rhetoric Keeps Escalating!

Back and forth, back and forth in the twenty four hours before the polls close in Florida. There is only one ticket out of Florida (winner take all) and McCain and Romney are fighting hard for it. The lead seems to change in the polls by the hour.

In the latest Rasmussen poll from Sunday they are in a virtual tie!

Survey of 578 Likely GOP Voters
January 27, 2008

Election 2008: Florida GOP Primary
Mitt Romney 31%
John McCain 31%
Rudy Giuliani 16%
Mike Huckabee 11%
Ron Paul 4%
Some Other Candidate 4%

Today, McCain called Romney a flip-flopper and released a tough new attack on Romney in a web video.

—————————————————————————————–

Mitt bit back on McCain for sponsoring liberal legislation with democrats, the McCain Feingold campaign finance reform, McCain Kennedy immigration reform and McCain Lieberman; a cap and trade carbon offset program.

Mitt is determined to bring the debate back to the economy.

I would like to comment, following a discussion yesterday on the brainwashing of America on the illegal immigration problem. McCain & others seem to have lead people to believe that if Mitt Romney is elected & becomes the first person to actually enforce the laws & not reward illegals with visa’s, greencards & citizenship, then there will be many service jobs that they are doing, that Americans simply will not do. This type of logic simply is not true for many reasons. Just one of these is that Americans do not understand the LEGAL immigration process. Americans are NOT against people coming here, but they want it done legally so we know who is here. I can tell you that there is a very very long line of people waiting patiently to come here LEGALLY and when there is a person like Romney in the White House, who makes it clear to the world that if you want to come here, after background checks, interviews, going through the legal process, you’re likely to be welcomed. For every person who came here illegally who is deported, there is a replacement in line who will want to come here legally to do exactly the same job. It is both the illegal problem & the legal process which Romney will fix, but he will not reward criminals who have come here illegaly. McCains plan is totally flawed & will make the problem even bigger than it is now.
Last point, it is not just Mexicans. There is no malice towards Mexicans who work hard and are good people. Romney’s no reward policy is directed towards ANYONE who is here illegally, no matter what country they arrived from. There is a big group of non latino’s who have also broken the law & jumped the legal line.
I hope people want to solve the problem Washington refuses to and vote for Mitt Romney who is the only candidate who will fix it.

I find it very interesting that the whinning McCain is being so evil just like he has accused everyone he has ever run against. If you were to ask him, I’m sure he would say he was provoked and did nothing wrong. Unfortunately for him, there are many of us out here, the voters, who do not believe him, trust him, or even like him. We have seen thru him for far longer then he has been a Presidential candidate. We also do not like what we see or hear. No need to mention his lack of concern or care of all us–it’s all about McCain–not the voters!

GO ROMNEY!!!! BEAT MCCAIN–HE DESERVES IT AND WE ARE TIRED OF HIS WHINNING AND CRY-BABY ATTITUDE!

WASHINGTON — Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., one of the most stalwart supporters of the war in Iraq, said Thursday that he might propose that the Iraqi government meet certain benchmarks for the United States to continue its engagement.

How hypocritical to twist Mitt’s words into something they weren’t while not admitting his own words. To see the a link to the newspaper article above, and further support of McCain’s hypocrisy go to http://www.conservativesformitt.blogspot.com

It is incredible McCain thinks he can get away with fallacious remarks like this. He is the worst offender.

Let’s not forget how he has betrayed us with his liberal agenda and legislation.

* Voted against Tax Cuts multiple times.

* Voted for Increasing Taxes over 50 times (most recent McCain/Leiberman which is going to drastically increase prices at the pump).

* Filed brief against Pro-Life Advocates in Wisconsin.

* Fought against a federal marriage amendment supporting the Institution of Traditional Marriage.

* Wrote the Bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants.

* Voted to give our Social Security money to illegal immigrants.

* President of the NRA called McCain the “Worst 2nd Amendment” candidate.

* Joined with Hillary to demand terrorists be given a full American trial.

* Described Christian Leaders as “Agents of Intolerance” in his 2000 Campaign.

* Blocked Republicans in their attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges.

* Supports radical global warming legislation voting with EVERY Democrat.

* Founding member of the Notorious “Keating Five” which was an ethical scandal costing US tax payers $160 Billion.

Need we go on???

Why doesn’t anyone point out the fact that McCain’s attacks on Romney are almost entirely personal or fabricated lies. Romney sticks to the issues, the liberal bills McCain sponsored and the fact that he actually considered running on the Democratic ticket. It is unfair for the media to lump them together as if they were both doing the same thing. Romney’s criticisms are completely issue oriented. McCain is demonstrating every dirty trick he learned in the US Senate over the past 25 years. And why has no one raised the fact that McCain does not have the temperment to be President. His temper is dangerous and the media is doing a huge disservice to the country by not at least documenting it factually.

McCain is still McAmnesty.

He has not changed. McCain’s “hispanic outreach coordinator” is none other than a former Mexican cabinet member from Presidente Fox’s government, Juan Hernandez.

Foreign government influencing a US Senator? that should be the headlines in the New York Times, but the Times is too busy lusting after its favorite liberal, John McAmnesty McCain.

Hernandez is doing his job well, promoting amnesty, increased benefits for illegal aliens and other similar things for “Mexicans living abroad”

Hernandez has helped John with his message, how to sell amnesty to America.

How can a foreign government infiltrate our infrastructure? John McCain just let him.

McCain = amnesty!

Carls coverage keeps getting more and more biased for McCain, it is incredible. He was making McCain’s arguments for him, showed McCain 2 times, and Romney once. He discounted Romney’s comments which were true about McCain’s liberal record on legislation and and his failings in the area of finance and economy. McCain showed this in the debates, when asked questions about the economy many times he gave nonsensical answers that showed he really didn’t know what the question meant or was covering for not knowing how to formulate answers to those questions.

Carl kept repeating false claims made by McCain as if they were understood, though the claims of his flip flopping were either untrue and dishonest, or mischaracterised and dishonest. This is easy to understand with a quick look at the actual words and circumstances. Claims of Mitt supporting a withdrawl before the effort was won, were bald face lies by McCain, more than that the claim by McCain was truely idiotic, which it was plain to see if you looked at the transcript.

Fox repeated those false statements over and over, making it pretty clear Fox’s motives.

McCain is a liar without honor. He was a hero for what happened to him in Vietnam. Now in his actions he is no hero. He is a dishonest narcissistic Machiavellian political hack of the worst sort.

McCain’s dishonest malicious garbage is that sort which has torn our country apart since Bill Clinton took office in the bad old days. McCain may as well be a Clinton, and I will never vote for him. I would vote for Obama if there was no other choice but he and the deliterious scum that scourge our country (Clintons and their minion, and McCain) though I disagree with him on most things, just to get rid of the stench the Clintons and McCain lay on our country which is by far the worst problem we have, beyond anything a terrorist group can do.

Mr. Cameron:

In your next interview, how about pinning down Sen. McCain about his campaign’s Hispanic outreach director Senor Juan Hernandez. He apparently has dual citizenship in the USA and Mexico. He’s repeatedly dissed US sovereignty and advocated “Mexico first”. Or how about Senor Jerry Perenchio, McCain’s finance co-chair. He’s also a persistently vocal open borders advocate.

Ask the Senator if he will disavow these associates views and remove them from his campaign. Ask what having them on his staff indicates about the sincerity his recent conversion to “control the borders first.” Please, don’t ask him floaters like, “How important is the Florida primary to [your campaign].” Leave the meaningless time-filler questions to CNN, or MSNBC.

Thanks,
Mike

from http://www.factcheck.org

CAUTION: ONLY READ THIS IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE FACTS

New Web and radio ads by the Arizona senator lack context.

Summary

On the eve of the crucial Florida GOP primary, John McCain is attacking Mitt Romney with some out-of-context or misleading statements on radio and the Internet:
A Web ad says Romney’s health care program in Massachusetts is “not very good” and “is failing.” But official figures indicate that roughly 200,000 previously uninsured residents have gained health coverage, and those persons might disagree.

The ad says the Romney plan is costing $400 million more than expected. That’s because more people are benefiting than were expected.

A radio ad running in Florida accuses Romney of proposing $20 billion to Detroit “to bail out the auto industry.” Romney actually proposed a $16 billion increase in federal research into “energy research, fuel technology, materials science, and automotive technology.”

McCain is a fat faced liar, who laughs thru his lies to try to make them believable … He has launched a barrage of personal attacks and half truths against Romney and has exagerated his own record , s he has no kind of experience with economics other than a yea or nay vote… When asked about this on Anderson Cooper, his only answer was who was endorsing him.. No proof of what he is speweing from his walnut cheeks.. McCain is an outright liar…. He is deliberatly distorting the statement by Romney about how Bush and Al Malaki should determine the level of troops .. It is stupidity on McCains part to assume that meant that Romney was in support of a timetable…. Of course we do not broadcast our plans or benchmarks for withdrawl…McCain has no clue about what to do about the economy.. He himself stated that he had Greenspans book to refer to on the economy… all Well and good if he was head of the federal reserve… I have a copy of the Bible but that does not qualify me to be the Savior of the World… I see McCain on his last spasms of political breath saying whatever it takes to survive in Florida… This appears to have worked for him in Vietnam, telling whatever lie would help him survive another day.. that is what he was trained to do…. Stick to your story to make it believable… put a little laugh into it to appear incredulous… He is so blatantly transparent in his lies, it makes him appear as an idiot to think that people do not see thru it.. Do not vote McCain, his senility and lack of judgement is obvious…

Comment by Bill

Mitt Romney certainly had to accept some liberalism in order to be governor of Massachusetts. The legislature in Massachusetts is never going to pass many bills that have broad appeal to conservatives. However, even when he was doing what was necessary to get along with liberals in his state legislature, Mitt Romney never took the national stage to attack Republicans in general or conservatives specifically. If he’d wanted to be another Republican poster boy for gun control, Handgun Control and similar organizations would have been happy to oblige. If he’d wanted to be another Republican poster boy for legalized abortion, Planned Parenthood and similar organizations would have been happy to oblige. He did none of these things. He tolerated what he had to tolerate in order to make the government work more efficiently.

On the other hand, John McCain has never shrunk from being a poster boy for the liberals and Democrats. He’s been all too happy to attack Republican and conservative positions in public. He’s criticized Justice Samuel Alito for being too conservative. He called Jerry Falwell an agent of intolerance. His voting record is pro-life, but Rick Santorum reports that he fought pro-life legislation behind the scenes. He never stood on the Senate floor to speak well of conservative legislation. Thirty-five years ago, he gave honorable service to this country. For the past twenty years, he’s spent his time in Washington being dishonest with and about Republicans. Republican voters simply cannot trust John McCain.

McCain totally misrepresented Mitt Romney’s position on Iraq. How do I know. I have heard Mitt Romney’s position in TV debates (like many Americans) and in person on a number of occassions. He has on all occassions said we should not give a date for withdrawal from Iraq! He supports Genreal Patraeus evaluation that careful withdrawal is now in order as we move to a more supervisory position in Iraq.

McCain is just trying to draw attention back to the war because he is totally loosing on the issue of economics and the polls are strongly moving up on Romney.

Which one is brilliant having learned the theory of economics at Harvard where he graduated magna cum laude, turned around the state budget of Massachussetts, the Olympics, Bain Capital, Staples etc. etc. creating thousands (70K at Staples alone) and showed that he could practice what he learned. Romney+Economy! He balanced the budget in Mass. every year for four years. McCain’s claims the raised taxes in Mass. is a lie and the watchdog tax org. in Mass supports Romney on this issue–he left the state with a $2B surplus instead of a $3B deficit!!!
Wow!! Won’t it be great when he does that for the United States.

We want someone smart and hard working to run the country so let’s compare:

Romney: Graduated at the top of his class at Harvard wth and MBA and Law degree.

McCain: Graduated sixth from the bottom of his class at the military academy in a class of 899. (Credited in part to his corvette, booze and broads).

Romney: Has run a state government in arguably the most liberal state in the union-has executive experience dealing as a minority executive with a Democratic legislature and still getting fiscal conservative policies implemented.

McCain: No executive experience anywhere.

Romney: Married for 38 years to one beautiful woman and father of 5 sons who adore him.

McCain: Cheated on his wife with several affairs and finally divorced. Picked up with current wife Cindy with a known drug problem and married her after an extende affair. He admits the failure of his marriage was due to his own selfishness!! His own children wouldn’t come to the wedding.

Romney: Strong on enforcing immigration law an defending our borders!

McCain: Co-author of an amnesty bill! Also, worst of all, has as his Hispanic Outreach Chair a former official of Vincente Fox’s government whose slogan is “Mexic First” and who wants open borders creating a Southwest Region (not United States of Mexico). No wonder McCain calls the fence on our Southern border, “that G*D*d fence.” (By the way, Romney’s speeches wouldn’t have to be bleeped out.

Romney: Strong on defense. When asked if we should do away with Guantanamo he said, “No, we should double the size.” Favors adding many more troops to the US arsenal and paying them appropriately!

Romney=Economy!! Washington is broken! FIX IT MITT!!!

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). As a member of the faith, we are taught that abortion is not acting within the belief of the church, the Savior, Jesus Christ. Therefore, I know, not as a republican, but as a member of the LDS church that Mitt Romney did in fact come down on the side of life every time that he had an opportunity. I myself know that he has a strong moral foundation, a commitment to do what is right. I know that if he is elected president, h ewill be president for all the people, not just for the rich, not just for the Christian, not just for the Caucasians, not just for African Americans, but for all Americans, red, white or blue.

So much for McCain’s “straight talk.” So much for him taking the so called “high road” in the campaign. To lie to the voters that Romney supports a public time table for withdrawal is unforgivable. I had a lot of respect for McCain until now. I thought he was above this.
What a shame a great man has belittled himself in this way.

Read the comments again Senator, Romney never said anything about a time table for withdrawal. You of all people shouldn’t stoop the tactics of the liberal democrats and make politics of our brave men and women in Iraq.

I expected better. If you want to disgree with Romney on issues that’s fine. But don’t lie.

Sorry McCain fans, that’s the real “straight talk.”

Comment by Rita McDonald

Governor Romney, flipped on abortion, always voted on the side of pro-life in his term of Governor, I to flipped on abortion, when I was young, I to believed in pro-choice, as I matured, and was horrified to find out that millions and millions of abortions were being done each year, in fact, it became the birth control of choice for some, and esp. the terrible thing we finally came to in killing babies, full term babies by partial birth abortion, water boarding is so much more humane then that being done to innocent full term babies, so I am glad that Romney changed his belief system as I did to pro-life, but neither him nor I have flopped back to being pro-choice. to me that is the most important thing that people are saying about the flip-flops of Romney. Romney is a brilliant business man, sure he has had to fire people what business man hasn’t I ask? To me a President doesn’t have to be a war hero, or terrorist fighter to be President we have a wonderful military with all kinds of advisers to help him make the right choice there, personally, I have a hard time believing in Bush or McCain being real terror fighters they claim to be and yet they have failed to secure our borders and ports, McCain after 24 yrs in Washington and Bush two terms of President, so no, I feel just as safe with Romney as I would with them two! McCain, has not changed his mind one iota on amnesty, he is only waiting to get the big job so he can start pushing in that direction again, he mentioned securing our borders with more guards and high teck cameras, everything except the border fence so I know he is not any more ready to close the border as he ever was, then he goes and hires that man, Juan Hernadez to his campaign to help get the Hispanic vote, if any does not know this this avid open border person just google him you will learn a lot. Lastely the only issue McCain is tough on or demonstrates any kind of un liberal streaks is making war, I am afraid he might be just a little to good at that, so I will vote Romney with a clear conscience even though he is a “Morman” and I am a Baptist, to me he seems to have many more traits of Christianity, then most Christians I see on here being bigots about his personal religion. I see very few if any of those traits in McCain that is for sure.

Comment by Eric

There sure seems to be more substance in Romney’s attack than in McCain’s. McCain has a hard time pointing to anything of substance or anything that matters. But Romney’s attack has Red Meat in it: McCain really did seek to limit conservative free speech during election time; he even filed a complaint against religious groups who were trying to advertise their views near election time.

McCain may have been war hero, but limiting free speech of religious groups is as un-American as it gets. It certainly is not Republican.

McCain’s personal attacks are really getting old. Twisting words…pathetic. Especially since John McCain has a former Mexican government cabinet member as John’s “Hispanic Outreach Coordinator”…selling out American interests for those special interests of Mexico.

How can a member of a foreign government be part of Presidential campaign? Whom does John McCain represent? America? That is the country that the American president is supposed to represent.

For someone who supposedly has fought to get undue influence out of politics, why does he let a foreign government infiltrate his office?

John McCain is still for amnesty.

Juan Hernandez google him!

Fox went all out for McCain today, the day before the Florida primary. Just like your pics above, the “reporting” was really weighted for McCain more than two to one. It looks like you and FOX have become McCain’s attack dogs. No doubt who FOX is trying to help win the Florida primary.

McCain is a coward on the facts and can’t admit that he was wrong.

1. McCain I voted against the Bush tax cuts twice.

Reason, because we have to stop “pork barrel” spending before we cut taxes.

Now, that we are spending money out of control he wants to make the Bush tax cuts permanent? Huh

2. McCain Immigration I heard you “we need to secure the border” (can’t admit that he was wrong)

Not I had my head up my butt talking to an idiot liberal Kennedy about Immigration reform that is a 180 of what needs to be done in America.

3. McCain said I don’t know very much about the economy. But he will say every name that endorses him, but really can’t admit he doesn’t know the economy.

4. He says he knows how to get Osama. Then why hasn’t he got him when he has probably known about his ass for 10 years or more. What, he is only going to help America if he is President? ( I put my country first, I’m a patriot, blah, blah, blah,)

5. He says he gets it about the border fence, then why in his state the border not secure? He is a person to get things done? huh

I have given five great reasons to question the integrity of John McCain.

And he has the audacity to say someone else is a “flip flopper”

At least Mitt Romney is man enough to admit when he is wrong.

I’m not trying to paint a perfect picture of Mitt Romney he has mistakes. Not every business he turned around was successful, but the majority were and he says that.

He has a record of turnaround with the Olympics.

This is why I vote Mitt Romney,

“A true man of intelligence and integrity.”

A little clarification…………….Romney (not unlike Huckabee) is saying Roe/Wade is illegal federally (Huck has been a bit more forceful on this)…….they like many (even Thompson I believe) views the decision as trumping State rights (example right before Roe/Wade my State Michigan voted (as in people imagine that!!) to make abortion illegal in Michigan), yet the Federal Government trumped the State in its decision. So you saying ‘in some states’…………..this is the bases of many canidates which feel the constitution is being twisted. Again a true interpretation of constition is Roe/Wade is illegal, federal trumping state rights. It should revert back to individual states deciding. I am not here to put words in Mitt (or any other canidates) mouth, just the way I take their discussions. Just like some states over others have decided thru their citizens voting, whether to be more strick in certain gun policies (ie NY vs. Texas)……however States in that argument are at a disadvantage because of 2nd amendment rights, so Feds do trump States. If you look at the Roe/Wade when done (without politically opinion) you will see you had a very liberal Chief Justice/Court who at that time many thought they over stepped their bounds. A true intrepretation of the constitution does not support Roe/Wade……it was just a matter of the court/Chief Justice personal opinions and trying to ‘newly’ interpret the constitution.

But again, not speaking for Mitt, just from what I heard from him, Huck or Thompson, they are saying Roe/Wade is a individual state issue, not a federal one. And before you say, ‘how can we have it illegal in one state, legal in the other?’ there are many differing laws amongst States. I’m personal against it altogether, however it should be voted on in each state and not federalized.

Go Mitt………………………

I have to agree with 90% of the comments, Fox news is biased, McCain is a liar, he would not bea good commander in chief, he would not let the military do there job beause he thinks he knows everything about war, he would start something just to make himself look good, I could go on&on bout him, but that is why I voted early and the reason why I voted for Romney, he would be a true commander in chief for all branches of goveranment

If the people on this blog are any indication of today’s results, then I am greatly relieved that people have seen through McCain and recognize the tremendous potential in a Romney presidency. In the event McCain would become the standard-bearer for the Republican party, can you imagine how his doomsday message would play against the message of hope of the Obama candidacy? Given the choice of McCain or Obama, I may have to vote for a Democrat for the first time in 55 years. Aside from the war in Iraq, there is little difference in the positions of Obama & McCain, and Obama is certainly the more likeable of the two.

I agree with others here McCampaign Carl is very bias for McCain. He showed it last night on fox. He brought up the president speech and earmarks, and goated Romney trying to get him to attack McCain on earmarks, Romeny said he agreed with McCain on earmarks and then listed the things he does not agree with (fiengold (finance), kenedy (imagration) and liberman (global warming)). Carl actually comes back rattling off a bunch of McCain talking points, attacking his job record as governor as well as taxes etc.

Romney answered them all showing they are crap.

Later Carl the McCampaign champion, interviewed McCain. He of course talks about the pres speech and how he focused so much on the war and the surge and what McCain thought of this (sounding like it was him up their). McCain responded that he agreed, and then blasted hilary and obama for wanting to withdraw on a time table. He did NOT mention Romney as he did all week (must be getting back to him), so mr. Carl of course brings it up, but not in a ‘balanced’ fashion.

He asked tells McCain that his remark that Romney wanted timetables (I dont think he even used Withdraw like McCain had) and said it was dishonest, do you want to respond. McCain paws it off as no big deal, saying its part of record, he said it he can deny it, he wanted timetables (Again, they dont mention withdraw!, the original accusation, of course we want timetables and goals on the WAR).

At this point you would expect a fair and balanced Campaign Carl to then defend Romney, pointing out that the NYtimes, cnn and virtually everyone else said that was a fabrication to out rite lie, nope, does not say a bleeping word!!!

The only one I have seen on fox tell this straight is Britt hume and Hannity, I have always loved fox and their ‘balanced’ coverage, they they are treating Romney like ABC or MSNBC would treat most republicans (except McCain)…

But when you have CNN, who loves McCain, call him a flat out liar, and you dont say a word, you are as bad as the liar himself.

Greg

Did anyone notice that both Dem canidates (Obama/Clinton) were at State of the Union last night, but no Sen. McCain?? For a guy trying to convince conservatives in the party, that he was not off the reservation, but trying to claim now (tax cuts) more inline with Bush you’d think he’d have showed up for the event.

Maybe he was just too busy campaigning, or rather he is out of step with conservatives like Bush so why bother going?? Or perhaps his feud with Bush from 2000, he figures by-by, I’ll be there speaking soon??

He and supporters can say it was just busy with campaigning, yet the two leading DEMs were able to find time during campaigning to get the Presidents latest thoughts on economy, Iraq, etc…..

SAY ANYTHING TO WIN!

GO ROMNEY!

Comment by RJ Dew

McCain is a has been. He is a crusty Washington insider who has consistently crossed the isle and sided with democrats on critical issues.

McCain is a man who cannot be trusted to stand up for conservative values. He is a person who courted the liberal John Kerry to be his vice presidential running mate in Kerry’s run for the presidency.

There is a rumor that McCain would consider selecting Joe Lieberman as his running mate for the presidency, which would explain the reason why Lieberman has been so active and vocal in his support and campaigning efforts on McCain’s behalf.

McCain has received key endorsements from democrats and the liberal media. He has received as many, or more, endorsements from the liberal media than any democrat candidate running for the nomination.

It is said that you are known by the company you keep… McCain has stated on numerous occasions that he considers Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Joe Lieberman among his closest friends.

If you would like a democrat running as the nominee for the republican party… vote for McCain.

Dude, no matter how many blogs you put this on it isn’t going to make it any more accurate.

The video is garbage. And the really sad thing is that the list of derogatory character traits you keep throwing around against Romney, all untrue by the way, are the “nicer” things we could say about McCain. You don’t want to see the list of bad things we could say. That list would go on and on.

As for me and my house, we’ll be voting for Mitt!

After all he is America’s Dad!

*McCain voted no on 6 tax cuts including the two big votes – final passage of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.

*McCain voted yes on 3 tax cuts including 2 which received near unanimous support in the Senate and were relatively non controversial.

*McCain was not present for an additional 3 tax votes, including 2 on the very important American Jobs Creation Act of 2004.

*McCain has told reporters “off the record” that he would raise taxes if elected President.

McCain IS BAD NEWS FOR THE ECONOMY. AMERICAN WILL NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO PROTECT ITSELF UNDER AN AILING ECONOMY.

Rita McDonald (1:15am),

I’d like to congradulate you on your logic and reason ma’am! Well done. I only wish more folks were like you, even if they didn’t come down on Romney’s side. At least we’d know they made an honest, well thought out decision. That is supposed to be the essence of our process.

I am a Mormon, but I wasn’t a Romney fan in the beginning. Believe it or not, it was a Southern Baptist in Georgia who, being a strong supporter of Romney himself, got me to change my mind early last year. I’m glad he did – very glad. Imagine that, a Baptist convincing a Mormon to vote for Romney – who would have ever thought it.

Good luck Ma’am.

McCain is nuts! GO MITT!!!!!!

WAYLAND, MASS. (1981) — ARREST- DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
In June 1981, ROMNEY attempted to launch family motorboat at Cochituate State Park despite park ranger advising that he was prohibited from doing so because his boat did not display proper registration. ROMNEY was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. ROMNEY handcuffed and transported in bathing suit to Natick police station, where released on own recognizance.5 Disposition: Charges were dropped when ROMNEY threatened to sue the state for false arrest; case dismissed at Natick District Court in February 1982. ROMNEY successfully petitioned that the files be sealed.6

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. (c. 1965) — ARREST- CHARGE NOT KNOWN.
ROMNEY was arrested along with future wife Ann Davies for actions in connection with practical joke at Cranbrook Academy. Reportedly ROMNEY and several friends “bought huge blocks of ice from the local gas station, laid towels over them, and went sliding down the slopes of a nearby golf course.”7

HUNTSVILLE, UTAH (2002) — USE OF PROFANITY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
On February 10, 2002, while overseeing 2002 Winter Olympics, ROMNEY became extremely angry upon encountering a traffic jam at a venue and proceeded to berate two persons authorized to direct traffic there, including with obscenity laced tirades, according to a police captain at the scene and a volunteer targeted by ROMNEY. The traffic volunteer Shaun Knopp stated that ROMNEY “asked me who the f___ I was and what the f___ I was doing. We got the Olympics going on we don’t need this s___ down here.”8 Weber County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Terry Shaw, commander of the Snowbasin venue, stated that ROMNEY twice used the F-word while also berating one of his officers, Deputy Kodi Taggart. Capt. Shaw stated that ROMNEY “was abusive” to his officer and advised, unsuccessfully, that “he needs to apologize.”9 ROMNEY denied part of the allegation, insisting he hadn’t used the F-word since high school — but admitted he used a word he described as “H-E-double hockey sticks.” Disposition: The Utah Department of Safety advised it had decided against initiating a “profanity probe.”10

FABIAN, ALAN: Until August 2007, FABIAN was a national finance committee co-chair for ROMNEY. Now under federal indictment for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice and defrauding companies of $32 million in Maryland.11

GARRITY, JAY (a/k/a “Trooper”): Until July 2007, GARRITY provided security and advance for ROMNEY whom he codenamed “LXX”; GARRITY now under investigation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for impersonating a police officer and other charges.12

HEALEY, KERRY MURPHY (a/k/a “SHERRY” 13): HEALEY recruited by ROMNEY as accomplice for 2002 Governor’s race; subsequently relegated to background role.

POSSIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY (1983)
In 1983, ROMNEY transported the family Irish setter, SEAMUS, in a dog carrier strapped to the roof of his Chevrolet station wagon during a 12-hour drive from Boston, Mass. to Lake Huron. No complaint was made or charges filed at time. However, Massachusetts law prohibits carrying an animal “in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon.”14

POSSIBLE RECKLESS DRIVING (date unknown)
According to a published account, “red lights make [ROMNEY] impatient.” Per the report, at a red light at an intersection in Boston, “There was a truck in front of him but no other traffic anywhere in sight… .So [ROMNEY] pulled out around the truck — to the left of the truck and then right in front of it — and made a right turn. Then, at the next intersection, where again there was no traffic, he stopped and then went straight on through a red light. And then, suddenly, a policeman appeared out of nowhere.15

ALLEGED BRUSH WITH INTRUDER (c. MID 1960s)
Subject ROMNEY maintains that while a high school student at Cranbrook School in Michigan he encountered an intruder in his dorm: ROMNEY, who says, “I figured I was dead for sure,” states he escaped the unknown intruder by jumping out a ground-floor window and running for help.16

Romney has flipped on abortion, but not flopped. The negative ad against Romney is just another attempt by the McCain camp to divert attention from the real issues that people are concerned about. The ecomony is #1 on my list. I must admit that I am strongly pro-life, but does that issue affect me on a daily basis? Absolutely NOT!!! I want a president that will help out our country economically and be tough on national security. Mitt Romney is the strongest, most intelligent candidate. Mitt has only one skeleton in his closet (flipping on abortion) if you call it that, but McCain has too many to mention ( amnesty, free speech, taxes, personal infidelity, etc………..). He isn’t a true Republican. He has too many Democratic “friends”. McCain is a compromiser, not a leader. He doesn’t represent the conservative values I have. Mitt Romney does.

Comment by work4living

McCain figures he can say or do anything as long as the liberal media will run cover for him. And he might be right in the primaries.

But the liberal media will turn on him in a general election, unless he runs for VP with his good friend Hillary.

We know that Romney can take the media’s best shot and keep on fighting. Any reason to believe that McCain can? Or will he let his temper show, again, and go down in flames, again?

Comment by Tony From Red State

I see that Romney appears to have bought many votes with his personal wealth.

I’m sure all of these conservatives who support McCain are just downright stupid Including Florida Republican Senator Martinez and now the very popular Republican Governor of Florida Mr. Crist?

More McCain supporters…Phil Gramm (lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 95), whose presidential campaign was endorsed by National Review in 1996. And Sam Brownback, a stalwart conservative and one of the most outspoken pro-life politicians in America today. And to Tom Coburn from Oklahoma, arguably the most conservative member of the Senate.
“John McCain and I have stood side by side on many issues,” Coburn said in endorsing McCain last week. The most important, he added, are “fiscal responsibility” and the “sanctity of human life.”

Go Romney!!

If McCain wins it will be sad, sad day… McCain is a wolf in sheep’s clothing – and will say anything to make people believe that he is a conservative republican. Wake up people – in his heart he is neither! And he is a bitter old man who has always looked for ways to make himself look good. A friend of mine who works in Washington put it best – McCain is the ambulance chaser of politicians. He constantly looks for opportunities to make himself look good and responsible for everything good.

Even Anderson Cooper last night on CNN called McCain to his face that what he said about Mitt was grossly inaccurate (in other words, “MY FRIEND” a LIE)

I do not want an angry old grouch representing my and my party, especially if we are running against a young, semi-hip guy (Obama) we will get creamed.

Sorry, My friend, you need to go work for your friend at Univision (John’s co-national finance director who has donated millions of his own personal wealth to force bilingual education so that he doesn’t lose market share to hispanics who learn English and will no longer watch his steenking channel.)

John McCain owes too many favors to Ted Kennedy and his friend John Kerry, remember, John McCain tried to be Kerry’s Vice Presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket in 2004.

And he wants to represent the GOP? What a crock! or is the crook?

We need a true leader with actual executive experience to take out Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama.

Mitt Romney is presidential and we need him with the economy teetering on the brink!

Comment by Bob Keen

Why was McCain a hero? He was a prisoner of war, granted, and he suffered at the hands of the North Vietnamese. But a hero?

He simply did his duty, albeit under difficult conditions. But so did many others former POW, few of which are walking around expecting to be treated as heroes. Still, he earns our respect for the treatment he endured. He has mine.

However, I wonder how one can parlay one’s experience as a former POW to meeting the requirements for being Commander-in-Chief. Were they teaching night course in Hanoi to prepare him for this high office? If they did, I hope Economics wasn’t part of the program…

Getting shot down is not an act of leadership. Being a POW a president doesn’t make. Divorcing a cancer-stricken wife of many years is not an act of leadership. And marrying a rich woman is also not a free ticket to the White House.

John McCain, for all the straight talk, I wish you wouldn’t speak so crooked.

Comment by Flip-Flopper

Looking at my username, I bet you thought I was going to slam the only conservative remaining in the race with a viable chance of winning…Mitt Romney. No, I want to talk about the man that is attacking Mitt Romney with charges of flip flopping. I’m sure you have heard of calling the kettle black, but McCain is a lying, dirty, cheap trick, flip flopper. Here is a list of just a few McCain flip-flop’s. I don’t have all day to list them all:

1) McCain-Kennedy (AMNESTY) – McCain spearheaded this bill which would award everyone here illegally, amnesty. And don’t try to bend the truth about illegal’s paying a fine is not amnesty, because the truth can’t be bent that far without shattering. McCain called you a racist if you were against amnesty when he was trying to get this liberal bill past. Now McCain say’s, I heard the people and they want the border closed first. What does that mean? McCain has changed his position, because polls showed Americans did not want this bill to pass. FLIP-FLOPP. And I don’t trust McCain if he get’s in the White House, not to flip flop again and push for another amnesty bill.

2) Bush tax cuts – McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003. In 2001 McCain said “I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us at the expense of the middle class Americans who need tax relief.”
If that doesn’t sound like Kerry, Clinton, Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi, etc…. I don’t know what does. Now McCain has pulled a very tricky and daring double headed Flip-Flop. First he is now saying he voted against the tax cuts because they didn’t include a decrease in spending. That’s the first flop. I gues he didn’t want to sound like a class warfare Liberal during an election year. The second flop: Now he’s saying he would keep the tax cuts, because not keeping the tax cuts would be like raising taxes and it would hurt the economy. If it would hurt the economy, why did he vote against it in the first place?

3) Abortion: Yes Abortion. Romney is not the only one who changed on abortion. Here’s a quote from 1999. I’m sure McCain supporters wish this quote would just go away. “I love to see a point where it is irrelevant and could be revealed because abortion is no longer necessary but certainly in the short-term, even the long term, I would not support the repeal of Roe versus Wade which would force X number of women in America to undergo illegal and dangerous operations. I would not support the repeal of Roe versus Wade.” Now this is what McCain is saying: “I share a common goal of reducing the number of staggering abortions currently performed in this country and overturning Roe versus Wade.” If that’s not good enough here’s another quote from Mr. Strait Talker himself “I believe that the pro choice community feels that abortion is a procedure that we would like to eliminate. So yes, I want to repeal Roe versus Wade and, yes, I’m proud of my pro life voting record but I’m trying to get to the point where we can join together and reach a solution to a terrible situation.” At least
Romney admits that he changed his position and explains in detail his conversion story.

4) Ethanol: Here’s another one of those pesky quotes by McCain in 2003: “Ethanol is a product that would not exist if congress didn’t create an artificial market for it. No one would be willing to buy it.”
Next he said: “Yes, thanks to agricultural subsidies and ethanol producer subsidies, it’s now very big business. Tens of billions of dollars have enriched a handful of corporate interests”
Nest: “Ethanol does nothing to reduce fuel consumption, nothing to increase our
energy independence and nothing to improve air quality.”
Now he’s saying: “I support ethanol and I think it’s vital. A vital alternative energy source not only because of our dependency on
foreign oil but because of its greenhouse gas reduction effects. Okay, it’s going to get us off foreign oil and it’s going to help reduce
greenhouse gases.

Well, Mr strait talker thinks he can deceive us all, but he has underestimated the American people. He thought that since he was a media darling, he could lie about Romney’s positions in Iraq. He was mistaken. Every reporter I have heard…….I don’t listen to the Liberal propaganda news reporters…..has revealed McCain for what he is, a double talking, lying, hypocrite.

We need a leader who will unite the Republican party. We need a leader who can unite Congress. That man is John McCain.

John McCain 2000! John McCain 2008!

The “whispers” evident in the debates are reminiscent of the movie “Broadcast News”, the anchor being given all of his lines in his ear piece. Amazing. Romney simply seems to be a talking head not able to think on his own feet.

Romney seems to be more suited as a game show host. Close your eyes and listen to his voice – and you will envision John O’Hurley. Even the way he holds his microphone reminds one of Bob Barker and “Let’s Make a Deal”.

The presidency is not a game to be played.

We need the strength and honesty found in John McCain.

Romney is a breath of fresh air… Go Romney Show all of these doubters that someone who is actually smart, not underhanded, not cheep, not self-gratifying, not attacking people personally can win the Presidency!

I love how people keep saying that Romney is the “Rich Kid” trying to buy the presidency, you know what Romney is the only one not trying to push for free press… hes not trying to buy this Presidency he is trying to do it on his own steam! He is out there every day footing the bill he is the one out there working with Voters meeting actual people not getting on Leno Or Conan and then saying “you cant connect with my opponent” well at least he is actually trying. He is not the one diliberately lying about his opponent. I could see it in McCains Face last night on Anderson Cooper McCain doesn’t really beleive what he is saying about Mitt Romney but he’s utterly pissed that hes not beating him. Romney is out there saying McCain has voted as a Liberal… is that a lie? no because if it were McCain could Refute it, but he can’t why? because he really did vote that way he wrote and sponsored bills that are Ultra Blue you cant Hide from your record McCain your Global Warming Bill is going to cost this country at least 1 TRILLION DOLLARS A YEAR! and it doenst require China or India to do squat! yeah there you go Americans get to pay for Global Warming… the BIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP GOING! other than yourself McCain!

McCain is a RINO. The democrats want him to win the republican nomination because he would be so easy to beat. Don’t remember the score on Obama but he was less than Hillary. Mitt was the highest. I voted here in Florida this morning for Mitt.

If you want to talk about a flip flopper McCain keeps flip flopping from conservative to liberal. His campaign is conservative, his voting record is liberal. I won’t waste your time going over all of the liberal laws he has supported and/or wrote. (read everyone’s comments). Romney’s record is conservative. Every time it has come to putting the pen to the paper he has been conservative. He is running as a conservative. It is time for republicans to stand up and let people know that this party is a conservative republican party. If McCain gets the nomination, I am writing in someone else’s name.

Carl, or anyone,

I have a question please

If Hillary wins the nomination, can Bill become the VP? I have been concerned that the DNC is favorable to Hillary. They disenfranchised Michigan and then Florida. The danage was already done so you can’t go back and fix it, too late. If Hillary gets the nomination and selects Bill to be the VP, would there be enouch time to go back in and give specific verbage as to the election of a VP that has already served a 2 term limit as President.

Here is a link and a small part of what it says under Eligibility.

It is unclear whether someone who has been twice elected to the presidency can subsequently be elected Vice President. The Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution states that a person may not be elected to the presidency more than twice, but it does not rule out such a person subsequently becoming president by other means (for example through the line of succession). Additionally, the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution states that no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. As no two-term president has subsequently sought the Vice-presidency, the question has never arisen.

There is no restriction on the number of terms a person can serve as Vice President – the limit only applies to the Presidency.

Not sure I have to say much here after reading many comments of people who agree with me on McCain is not the right man, at this time to lead the Republican Party. I am 65, a white woman who has voted mostly Republican all my life and had a hard time pulling the slot for Bush last election. McCain now says ” I know how to stop illegal immigration protect the Borders”. Where has he been these past 10 years that the borders have been overun in Az.? First of all be honest like Zell Miller was and he left Congress per the dishonesty. I visit good friends, retired Air Force, who live in Tucson and I love it there. The schools have been overun, the hospitals having money problems and the tax payers absorbing the cost. Much like we are here in Ga.,so far maybe not as bad as Az.? First let me say I love and visit Mexico and fully understand why the Mexicans want to come here per the poverty. Illegal immigration has to be controlled and I am so tired of having to push 1 for English, Why? I won’t get into McCains stand on Iraq and yes I thank you for your dedication to our military and being a POW, but if you become the candidate for the Republican Party I will not be able to support you for President.

They can actually do this at the last minute without having time to challenge this in the Supreme Court. Not only can he become VP, but if something Happens to Hillary, the ammendment reads that you cannot be ELECTED more than 2 terms, saying nothing about becoming President by default.

McCain is a hateful, evil man… totally incapable of uniting the republican party. I can’t understand why he gets a free pass to publicly circulate blatant lies about Romney 48 hours before the Florida primaries. The hypocrisy of it all… the one who championed McCain-Feingold… now totally abuses free speech to get votes. It is appauling that so many have been duped by McCains corruption. If McCain is nominated, there will surely be a significant third party conservative candidate.

Did Mitt Really strap his DOG to the roof of his car?

OH! MY!

We have four dogs 5 turtles 1 cat 1 crayfish and a hamster thanks to my lovely 9 year old but I am apauled by this send the link with this information.

What bugs me also about Romney is the idea of being from out of DC, Bush tried for unity. It is not going to happen no matter who is the President when you have an opposing Senate and House. It worked in Texas but not in DC.

Carl thanks for sharing this clip it is the only way Texans can see ads, is to go looking for them online.
