Well, it appears the old folks have made the decision. I wish them well, but for me I will not be voting for President in the Fall. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN–THE ONLY WAY I COULD CONSIDER IT WOULD BE IF MITT ROMNEY WERE THE VP CANDIDATE! I WOULD VOTE FOR HIM BUT NOT FOR MCCAIN!!!!!! This man has been a traitor to the Republican Party one time toooooo many!
Down to Romney and McCain. Romney is better in experience, leadership, and morals. He is a conservative and will lead our country.
Go Romney!
At least I don’t have to worry about voting this year, cause I just cannot vote for this older gentleman, who is going to be beaten by Hill or Obama. Thanks Republicans of Florida , again, you messed it all up…
It’s pretty sad when McCain can get away with lying about Romney and still win. If he’s the Republican nominee, I’ll vote for Obama.
Mr. McCain –
You have absolutely NOTHING to be proud of tonight. You stooped to the lowest level of politics in Florida. You have shown us exaclty what a slime-bucket career politician you are.
You will NEVER get my vote…not now and certainly not in November if you actually get there with your dirty politics. I welcome Obama and even Hillary after witnessing what you are capable of.
It is a sad, sad day in this country. Thanks to all the folks who gave McCain the Republican nomination. Now conservatives will have no candidate who represents them in November, but it will be like Christmas to the liberals. I can’t think of a smarter way for liberals to destroy the Republican party — eat it up from the inside out by putting one of their own into our midst. Sad, sad indeed. And truly, very scary.
Romney is going hard on the idea that Washington hasn’t accomplished anything in the last 20 years and we shouldn’t elect a senator to the presidency. He argues a Washington insider can’t get things accomplished as President, and we need somebody from the outside. He lists things that have not been accomplished, and we need change to get those things done. This doesn’t make sense. I believe JFK was the last sitting senator to become President. If Presidents have not brought about change and gotten things done in Washington over the last 20 years, it’s not because they were insiders. Those presidents were governors just like Romney. I think the McCain camp should bring that to light, suggesting that perhaps somebody who knows Washington can get things done that governors have not been able to do as President. Romney’s logic is poor and vulnerable.
Take the postions that Democrates don’t like and the ones that the Republicans don’t like, mix them together and you get McCain. What??? Who is voting for him? In addition, Wikipeda McCain and Romney, read for a few minutes and see who you trust the most.
I agree with someone’s comment that McCain may be the only candidate who can beat the democrats, but not running as a Republican.
If he were on the democratic ballot he would have a chance-he is certainly liberal enough. He is not conservative enough to rally enough concervatives in the general election.
I don’t know how we have forgotten so soon since his last run how weak he really is. If you want proof that he will not be a true conservative let these three facts stand as a witness:
1. He is nearly an identical twin with former democrat, Joe Liberman.
2. He was endorsed by the New York Times (as was Hillary Clinton).
3. Bill Clinton said he and Hillary get along really well.
That sucks McCain is not good for us as Americans, listen to him talk. He is buying votes with Washington Insiders backing him up. Seriously he name lists everyone like a popularity contest, as Mitt Romney tries to run against all of Washington. We need to change Washington to really make a huge change!! Go MITT ROMNEY YOU HAVE MY VOTE!!! True Republican for Conservative values!! Strong family values, strong economy, strong healthcare, strong on immigration, strong on terrorism. Vote Mitt Romney!!! http://www.mittromney.com
People have mistakenly seen McCain as a veteran only, instead of an insider WDC politician over the last 25 yrs. Does anyone remember The Keating 5? What about allowing those enemies in Guantanamo whom he wants to try in our civil courts!! Waterboarding too rough if your loved one’s life depends on it!! Amnesty too! If all Liberal Newspapers, including the NYTimes endorse him, you know he will be easy bait for the Dems to win. Gee, people do some research and some homework!! It is easier with the internet!!!
We need fresh ideas with results like Rudy did in NYC and what Romney in the Olympics! It is very sad how people do forget 911 and WHO stood up to our enemies on a daily basis to restore the capital of the world and be so right as to the pressing issue of the century with Rudy at the forefront. Without safe borders and a strong defense, we cannot do what we need to be energy independent, with a solid education and upgrade our healthcare programs. Let alone being fiscally responsible.
Super Tuesday is next week and it is not over ;–)
You mean McAmnesty!!! Everyone he thanked tonight had a S. American name… oof.
I am trying to understand why Republicans are looking more like Democrats with each new election. In my eyes, McCain looks and votes like another Hillary. It is unfortunate that Ron Paul is not the one with a delegate count of 93. Republicans are leaving their roots of smaller government and more state’s rights. Rather than asking WHAT elected public officials can do for them, they should be asking WHAT can you STAY out of and not complicate for me.
As a strong conservative if John McCain wins the Republican nomination for the first time in my life (43 years) I will not vote in the General Election for the Republican candidate. He is not a conservative and he will not represent me.
From: Viv in Memphis
Carl, is it true that John McCain, if elected, will only serve 4 years, i.e., will not run in 4 years for a 2nd term?
The way McCain won this primary makes me want to hold my nose now, much less for the general election. If he’s the nominee for the Republican I’d just as soon vote for the other democrat; we’d at least have a President who knows how to carry himself like a president and not a FLAT OUT LIAR.
I have voted on the Republican ticket since 1980. Saying that…If John McCain wins the Republican nomination I will step over, cross the lines and vote for Obama as A Registered Democrat. I am so sick of Faux News and the liberal Media Spinning McCain, McCain, McCain.
How can republicans not see through this smear campaign of anyone running against McCain.
McCain was even endorsed by the New York Times and Bill Clinton. The Democrat’s know and want McCain to be the nominee because they know they can beat him, (They just won’t admit that right now.) McCain serves and acts like a liberal. So I may as well vote Democrat, because I definitely do not want John McCain in the White House.
Very sad that someone would bring Christian denominations into the GOP race by refering to Mormons as a cult, what a joke of a person who demands no respect! I know many mormons that are my friends and they are kind very good people, and because a candidate runs for president that has these same high standards is criticized, very sad. You try not drinking alcohol, not smoking, no premarital sex, give up 2 years of your life for Jesus Christ, help out over 300million dollars a year in humanitarian services, welfare services, and aids victims. You may not believe the same as they do but you can’t deny there ability to stand tall in a world of “doing the wrong thing is the right thing”, or the family he has built married for 42 years, 5 great kids. That is the most important thing most will ever accomplish is having kids and watching them grow up! This man has done that and done it well, with strong values where if many more had those values there would be less drunk driving deaths, less drugs, less violence, less children without both parents, less kids having children. Like I said you may not agree with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints (Mormons) But I will tell you this living next to many mormons they have helped me so much with food, friendship, and I am proud to say that even though I am not a member, I am proud to say that the Mormon members have great values and a president of that church should not hurt him it should give reassurance that he will fight for our families values. Go Mitt Romney because I care about my family and the values of tomorrow. Strong Healthcare, Strong Conservative Values, Strong Economy, strong on Immigration, strong on Millitary. Go Mitt Romney http://www.mittromney.com
Where’s all the congratulatory remarks,Carl, are you going to let this go without giving McCain credit….I’m a Mike man,but congratulaions are in order,or is it Romney’s turn again to get the preferential treatment…..Come on Carl, you can do better than that
Lost my faith in the Republican party tonight. Now we get old geezer to run against the young buck Obama. Entrenched Washington Insider against the agent of change outsider. It should be as good as watching carrots grow in the back yard.
Too Bad for America. Maybe in 4 years we republicans can really get back to the core that established us and get the old cronies out of Washington.
I have to comment to get back to a sense of calm. Sen McCain is not the Republican choice, and he knows it. He tried to scare voters into thinking Romney would withdrawl from Iraq. If he is the nominee, he will not have my support. The straight talk express, just got a flat tire. We, who care, vote on ideas, not who is most likeable.
It is really amazing me that when Mitt Romney had more Delegates last week and before, you never once posted articles about how he was leading in Delegates. Now since McCain is ahead you plaster it all over your website. Bias Media.
Its is to sad to comtemplate the future with Mc Cain at the helm of the Republican Party.
It is as if they shot themselves in the foot on purpose.
As a Republican, I will not vote for McCain or Romney if either run for president. This means nothing, 93 delegates wow, there is a long way to go. The only candidate who really can appeal to the masses is Giuliani. The media and the democrat party are trying to get him out of the race. I hope he pushes on to victory!!
Hopefully, some day soon Huckabee followers will see that their candidate has no chance of winning…some day soon these voters will jump off the fence one way or another…McCain or Romney…hopefully…some day soon…..
Well, that’s just 7 states of delegate votes…45 to go. This “competition” is far from declaring a winner!
I guess Fox News is breaking out the champaign so they can toast their candidate they have been pushing so hard! I cannot understand how American citizens who say they are so tired of Bush and the way he has failed the conservative base, can turn around and vote for someone who will b even worse then Bush, ironic isn’t it. I guess id did help a lot for old McCain to hire that Hernadez to help him get the hispanic vote, I fail to understand why he would not get their votes anyway seeing McCain is their open borders fellow. I feel sorry for the border guards who begged people not to give McCain our votes, I would not blame all of them if they simply walked off the job, they might as well as we will see an invasion now of illegals coming over the border to make sure they will get the amnesty McCain will try to give them, goodbye America, hello MexiAmerica, don’t try to tell me McCain is a true American hero, a true American hero would be for securing our borders and doing what is right for America instead of what is right for Mexico! I would sooner cut my fingers off as vote for McCan Fox news was wrong when they said if McCain won the nomination, the conservatives would rally about the old b#####d in the end, they are wrong they will see!
Soooooo sad! What have the Floridians done????
I have to wonder what McCain has promised to Gov Crist and Senator Martinez, if it wasn’t for those ridiculous endorsemets which led others to follow blindly he definitely would not have won tonight. I hate to say this, but if McCain gets the nomination on Super Tuesday I’m either staying home or voting democrat. It won’t matter, McCain is just as democrat as Hillary or Obama.
Giulliani, I used to like you, but now, you have proved that you have no more brains than anyone else. Are you just hoping that McCain puts you, should he win the GOP nomination, as his VP????
OK, Romney supporters, we need to get out in full force and let people know the issues. The leader of the Gang of 14 can ABSOLUTELY NOT be this countries GOP nominee!!!!
Mitt, I am behind you all the way! This is just a test and next week you will show them who all of America really wants.
Huckabee and Paul, take some pride and drop out!!!and send your support to Romney, the only true conservative!!!!!!!
If McCain wins I wil vote for Clinton. I would rather have her get credit for destroying ht eeconomy and America then a republican. Then maybe after that we can get another Reagan or atleast a conservative.
Though I was never a big supporter of Senator McCain, I must say that I certainly prefer him to Mitt Romney. My support for the Arizona senator (now) has very little to do with my disdain for Romney, but do not let that diminish the weight of my message: “nominee Romney” would be a terrible prospect for our Party. Business experience does NOT mean you can run a country or its economy. It means, quite simply, that you can run a business. Romney is our Party’s version of John Kerry and we will lose our asses come November if we’re moronic enough to nominate him. Clinton would wipe the floor with him and Obama too. Get behind McCain and get a grip; we need to win.
Wow this sucks
McCain is the biggest SOB after what he pulled in florida
hopefully states like new york, texas, and california can see through his BS
He has a good stance of foreign policy issues, but on everything else he’s as black a liberal as obama
whereas Romney is BA and will lead our country forward, while the rest will lead us back
DAM
John Mccain , the war hero, who calls all the military and vets to get them to vote for him . Then he goes into the senate , like he always does, And votes AGAINST THE MILITARY AND THE VETERANS ON ALMOST EVERY BILL THAT SUPPORTS THEM.
This man Appauls me as a military member.
And reports to day show that we spend more money on illegals in one year, Then we do in one year on the War in Iraq.
If Mccain gets the nonmination , or even gets elected, which hopefully doesn’t happen,
He will destroy the veterans, the military and make us an Un protected Third World Santuary Nation I can’t believe military in florida believe this idiot without checking his record, it would shock them I believe.
MCCAIN NEVER….
I will not, I cannot, I refuse to, vote for McCain,,, i’d rather vote for OBAMA
Never voted for a DEM in my whole life
It seems that most of the people blogging are pro-Romney. I don’t understand how McCain won Florida. I guess the Cubans and the old people don’t blog? Are Romney supporters the only ones who own a computer and know how to type? It’s unbelievable what happened in Florida tonight. Carl, your cheesy grin at McCain’s win is showing all over the place. Why don’t you just come out and endorse McCain publicly? You are so biased toward him, it’s sickening. You never pointed out that Romney was well ahead in delates, and now with Florida you have it in your headline that McCain is ahead. Maybe you secretly want a democrat to win, maybe that’s why you’re in support of McCain. I don’t know anyone who wants McCain; in fact many of the people I know have said if McCain is the Republican nominee, they’ll cross over and vote for Obama.
Mccain is a Traitor to the Military, the Veterans and the American People. Reports today show this country spend more money on illegals in a year than it does for one year for the war in Iraq.
HARRIS COUNTY TEXAS REPORTED THAT IT SPENT 600 MILLION DOLLARS ON HEALTH CARE FOR ILLEGALS IN LESS THAN THREE YEARS, AND THAT’S ONLY ” ONE ” COUNTY AND ONLY ON HEALTH CARE.
YEP, GESS FLORIDA IS A REPEAT OF 2000 , THEY JUST DON’T THINK THEY JUST HIT A CHAD, HA
THE SENATOR IS JUST LIKE MCCAIN, A TRAITOR TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ,
John Mccain , the war hero, who calls all the military and vets to get them to vote for him . Then he goes into the senate , like he always does, And votes AGAINST THE MILITARY AND THE VETERANS ON ALMOST EVERY BILL THAT SUPPORTS THEM.
This man Appauls me as a military member.

This is a very bad night. Like so many other commenters on this site, disappointment doesn’t begin to explain the terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. McCain CANNOT win. He is a liar with a liberal record and nasty temper. Mitt Romney is our only hope. The “Old Establishment” candidate system has to be stopped. Please try to think back and remember what happened with Bob Dole. “They” said it was his time and he deserved the nomination and look what happened. Wake up people. McCain doesn’t deserve anything but contempt. He’s spit on my beliefs for the last time. I’ll do everything in my power to stop him and the best weapon most of us have is prayer. May God help us.
HEY all you Romney supporters, you act like McCain has won the election and the race is over. We have a long way to go, so lets stop whining and get behind Romney. Do whatever you can to drum up support, talk to your friends, family and tell them what a great President this man will make. He just needs more time to get more name recognition and as more conservatives hear him, I believe he will win them over.
GO MITT ROMNEY!!!!
well i for one will not support john mccain. it irritates me how much hatred all the candidates have for mitt romney.
they can’t stand it that he is a godly family man
look at mccain – he dumped his first wife upon returning from vietnam.
guiliani married three times
huckabee – son hung a stray dog, huckabee fired the police officer for not covering up.
and huckabee says mitt is not a christian. mike is the non christian as far as i’m concerned.
Amen Rita: Fox has been pushing Traitor Mccain for Months, So is Cnn. Sad isn’t it’?????????????

Well McCain you succeeded in fooling the misinformed voter. Romney absolutely did not say that he was for withdraw of troops and he lied and mislead the people. It makes me sick the way he “pretend” laughs about this. Just like all liars do when they feel the weight of their own lie seeping out of their mouth they can’t keep a straight face. Shame on you McCain! Romney may have switched his stance on abortion but at least he doesn’t lie about it. Florida voted for a mean spirited bold-face liar, dirty polictican who will be successful in destroying conservative values. Coservatives Repbuplicans unite under Mitt Romney!
Well, it’s looking more like the “good old boys club” in the Republican party are trying to squeeze Romney out of the race. How else can it be explained that McCain can lie, cheat and twist his way into winning Florida. If McCain wins the nomination we’ve just opened the doors wide for the Democrat’s to win the White House in the fall. Why vote for McCain when you can get a real Democrat. Come on Republicans you can do much better. Vote Romney!!!!
ATTENTION ROMNEY ROBOTS:
WHAT HAPPENED? ALL YOUR RANTING AND RAVING AGAINST AN HONORABLE PATRIOT LED TO NOTHING. PAGES AND PAGES OF ANTI-MCCAIN VITRIOL. AND YOU LOST! AND IN A CLOSED REPUBLICAN STATE WHERE THE “LIBERALS” WERE SUPPOSEDLY NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO DERAIL YOUR ROBOCANDIDATE!
FACE THE FACTS:
FLORIDIANS VOTED FOR AUTHENTICTY AND BROADMINDEDNESS OVER SHALLOW GLITZ AND TELEGENIC CHARISMA. MCCCAIN IS FAR FROM PERFECT, BUT HE SACRIFICED FOR HIS COUNTRY WHEN HE WAS YOUNG AND HAS TRIED TO BE A UNITER, NOT A DIVIDER. (I hate to say all this about fellow Republicans, but your tidal wave of meanspirited posts
over the course of this campaign leaves me no choice)
Romney Robots, you need to grow up and mature a bit. You will never be the majority in this country, and you need to become more educated and informed. Simple ideological partisanship is rarely the solution to complex problems. Why don’t you read some books about Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower? Real Leaders, Real Patriots, Real Republicans. Not greedy materialists who cannot see anything larger than themselves. (Oh, but you probably don’t like history, do you? Too boring, right?! And you might have to think deeply too! Horrors!)
I hope you will rally around John McCain and help the Republican Party win against the Democrats this fall. But, judging from your posts, I can see that you have learned nothing from your loss so I doubt you could bring yourselves to unite with anyone but your fellow rightwingers. Why not go out and form your own extreme right party? That would help the Democrats win, something you would prefer to a McCain Presidency, I’m sure! Of course, Romney may yet unleash his millions of dollars, energize the narrowminded base, and win the nomination anyway. But, maybe just for tonight, decency, real bravery, common sense, and courage triumphed over glitz, media charisma, shallow wealth worshipping materialism, and religious fundamentalism.
SO…GO JOHN MCCAIN! YOU HAVE DEFEATED MITT ROMNEY! GLORY, GLORY HALLELUJAH!
No way the Lib Press will expose this guy.
The Associated Press
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has long identified himself as an Episcopalian, said this weekend that he is a Baptist and has been for years.
Campaigning in this conservative, predominantly Baptist state, McCain called himself a Baptist when speaking to reporters Sunday and noted that he and his family have been members of the North Phoenix Baptist Church in his home state of Arizona for more than 15 years.
“It’s well known because I’m an active member of the church,” the Arizona senator said.
While McCain has long talked about his family’s and his own attendance at the Arizona church, he appears to have consistently referred to himself as Episcopalian in media reports.
In a June interview with McClatchy Newspapers, the senator said his wife and two of their children have been baptized in the Arizona Baptist church, but he had not. “I didn’t find it necessary to do so for my spiritual needs,” he said.
He told McClatchy he found the Baptist church more fulfilling than the Episcopalian church, but still referred to himself as an Episcopalian.
Greenville Republican state Sen. Mike Fair, a Baptist who serves as one of McCain’s liaisons with the South Carolina religious community, said a person traditionally becomes a full member of a Baptist church by some kind of public expression of their faith, usually by being baptized.
McCain, at a campaign stop at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Anderson, said he has made plenty of public expressions of his faith. “I’ve done that hundreds of times,” McCain said, adding he has spoken at length with his pastor at the church and has been told there is no need for him to be baptized to be a full member of the church.
The Associated Press asked McCain on Saturday how his Episcopal faith plays a role in his campaign and life. McCain grew up Episcopalian and attended an Episcopal high school in Alexandria, Va.
“It plays a role in my life. By the way, I’m not Episcopalian. I’m Baptist,” McCain said. “Do I advertise my faith? Do I talk about it all the time? No.”
McCain does discuss faith on the campaign trail. He regularly tells crowds about a North Vietnamese POW guard who would loosen his bindings while he was a prisoner. One Christmas, the man surreptitiously signaled his Christian faith, McCain says, by making the sign of a cross with his toe in the dirt.
McCain said Sunday he doesn’t know how his Baptist faith might affect his showing in South Carolina.
“I have no idea,” McCain said, laughing. “I was a member of that church in 2000 and it didn’t save me then.” McCain lost to George W. Bush in the hotly contested South Carolina primary seven years ago.
McCain made the comments after speaking to about 200 people on this resort island during a stop on his “No Surrender” tour, to push for support of U.S. troops and the president’s strategy in Iraq.
Associated Press writer Jim Davenport in Anderson, S.C., contributed to this report.
Huck and that nut Paul are screwing up the works.
Huck is staying in to take the votes from Romney. Then he can be McCains best friend and be the VP. Geezzzzz. Makes me crazy.
I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain if I have to as I sure as hell don’t want Hill in there.
Wake up the rest of the country.
Rudy endorsing Mac tomorrow after he drops out. They are gang banging Romney.
Hey Mandy,
Once again you can thank Huckabee for staying in the race and helping out his pal McCain. Unless the social conservatives wake up and switch to the Romney, McCain will get the nomination. Huckabee has cost Romney Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and now Florida.
If things don’t change quick, than we can all enjoy watching McCain compromise his so called conservative ideals away to make friends with the liberals on the other side of the aisle. I wonder if McCain will lie about things Hillary says like he did against Mitt. Or will he play nice once he is running against his pal Hillary.
Bob Dole II here we come. Great man but past his prime and only got the nomination cause it was “his turn.”
Oh….and Huckabee declares 4th place out of 5 a victory. Wow!!!
I can’t believe the comments I just read.
John McCain is TRUE CONSERVATIVE, he promotes fiscal responsibility, he is PRO-CHOICE, he will fight child porngraphy, he will SECURE THE BORDERS, and he will keep America safe from terrorism and Islamic Jihadism.
Ar you guys nuts?? Prefering Obama to McCain ?? Obama is EVEN MORE LIBERAL THAN HILLARY !
For Christ’s sake, wake up !!
I can’t understand how McCain can try to quote anyone as saying anything when he said (Washington Times)”I do not support, nor would I ever support, any services provided to someone who came to this country illegally, nor would I ever and [I] never have supported Social Security benefits for people who are in this country illegally.” Any assertion to the contrary, he added “is absolutely false.” But yet he also supported in state tuition for illegals, voted on a bill to allow 10-11 million illegals amnesty if they filed and payed $2000, and supported a bill the postponed the building of the wall on the Mexican border. And that just one of his flip-flops.
So disappointed in the outcome in Florida. But, as Molly Brown once said, ‘I ain’t done yet’, and neither is this race. Go Romney!!
where’s my comment? Must not have liked what I wrote.
This race is certainly not over! Romney needs to stick to his strength, experience and leadership ability, and not let McCain drag him down into another mud fight!
Cause guess what? The fact that McCain won Florida after the lies he told all week long, proves that the majority of voters are uninformed and will believe whatever comes out of McCain’s mouth. After all he’s an American hero right? He wouldn’t lie to the American people, would he?
Any more McCain lies need to be laughed and scoffed at and left at that! Romney needs to drive home the fact that he has actually led something, has governed something, has worked in the economy, has produced real results! Can McCain claim any of those assets? NO!
The clear choice for America is Governor Mitt Romney, and HE IS GOING ON TO WIN!!!
Go Mitt Romney!!! All The Way!!!
The Huckabee voters better make a decision quick, as they are handing this primary vote to McCain. Huckabee is proclaiming a 4th place finish out of 5 is a victory. Come on.
Hey Romney Supporters, quit sounding like sore losers, and quit acting like the race is over!!!
It’s a two man race!! And it’s far from over!!!
Romney’s numbers are climbing nationally–7% in 2 weeks and all others have fallen!!!
Mitt Romney still has an excellent chance of winning this thing!!!
It’s down to conservative leadership vs. Washington politics!!!
He’ll have talk radio and Conservative Leaders on his side and I think in the end, he’ll pull it out!
Stay positive folks, our man is going all the way!!!
MITT ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!
We Republicans need to wise up and realize that we cannot beat the Democrats by being like the Democrats (like McCain). We will beat the Democrats by being Conservatives (like Romney).
If McCain gets the nomination, I will not vote for him, sit out, and let a Democrat win. Four years later, we will nominate a Conservative (like Romney or Gingrich) and win a landslide like Reagan did in 1980 after Carter’s 4 years. Funny how history repeats itself.
Right on McCain!
Unlike some of the other posters, I hope you DO get nominated. I am a moderate who is unwilling to vote for ANY of the Democrats, and I welcome a moderate candidate with experience.
McCain’s lies and behavior this past week sealed the deal. I will vote for Obama now in the general. McCain won the battle, but his unethical tactics lost him the war. Mark my words.
After McCains lies, I am voting for Obama. McCain won the battle by sacrificing the truth. He will lose the war. Mark my words.
WOW, A flat out LIAR and typical Washington insider gets a squeeker win in FL. If McCain can actually capture this country on Super Tuesday I know I will pass on voting for him. It will be the first time since I have been old enough to vote that I will stay home and watch as this country gets what it deserves, the Clinton’s back in the Whitehouse. McCain does not even have to win to get in the Whitehouse. He and Hillary are so similar, as Bill says they are practically identical. They both have liberal ideas and they both want a Socialist country. SO get your seat belts on this is not going to be pretty. But I somehow have to keep my Faith that there are conservative, family focused, Values driven Americans out there and they will show up and Vote for the only hope this country has….. MITT ROMNEY. The press don’t like a guy that is clean, effecient and truly has the heart to lead this country out of the economic toilet bowl we find ourselves in. Please America, VOTE with your Head and Heart and get it RIGHT !!
This is a sad, sad day. If the presidential race shows Clinton and McCain as the Presidential nominees, that is the day that this voter sits at home and does not vote. Is that the best candidates America has to offer? Really? That is sad.
I would vote for Obama before I would vote for McCain. With Obama, I at least I know what I’m getting. With McCain, all you get is a “Maverick” who doesn’t represent conservatives on almost every issue. I thought us conservatives were principled. So what’s with this logic of, “well, McCain beats Hillary head to head in the polls, so I’m voting for him.” And your principles? Did they go out the door so quickly for the sake of winning? Or is that our only principle? Win–no matter what the Republican party has to become. Which under McCain means amnesty for illegal aliens, maybe so maybe not for keeping tax cuts permanent, an indefinite stay in Iraq no matter what Americans want, and a commander-in-chief who admits he’s not so sharp on economics. Oohh, let me vote for that guy! (sarcasm included)
I am pleading for all that his holy and “right” of center, vote for a conservative nominee that CAN win and that represents conservative principles. That is Mitt Romney–the conservatives last best hope. Vote Mitt on Super Tuesday!
What is this I hear about McCain having a mini-stroke ? Sounds like a clear cut Presidential contender to me. Let’s wait for the trip back from the Hospital and get him back in the swing of this race. If we keep it hush, hush no one will ever know. If we have to prop him up in California, let’s do it. After all, isn’t it important to keep Johnny in teh running until we get Romney out of the way and then we be sure that Johnny’s favorite girl Hillary can take this country over. …. Aahahhahhaha USA will get what it deserves in the fascist dictator of Clinton’s the sequel….
There is something VERY WRONG…when so MANY voters are disappointed!
Just scan the comments….in several of the sections….Why are the numbers of disappointed voters so great.
What has happened? I have been a loyal financial supporter and consistent voter of the Republican party for many years now….I feel betrayed!
[...] Where the candidates stand today: [...]
Prior to FLorida : Romney 59 delegates the clear leader and McCain 36. Yet that was never published or reported. What a crock. The biased media sits around waiting for a short lived jump for McCain and now all of sudden He is the Clear Leader ???? Where was the leader before ??? Oh, that’s because it was Mitt Romney. So after Super Tuesday when Mitt actully outguns McCain for more delegates do you go back deaf on it again ?? Of course you do. The media are so caught up in the drama. They dictate the winner before we even get to the polls. Billary Machine reaches far and wide.
McCain’s lies lost my vote. I will now vote for Obama instead.
Mandy and Diana,
After all your candidate (Romney) has done in trashing mine (Huckabee), it’ll be a cold day in hell . . .
Now that the term RINO is in everyone’s vocabulary, just remember who it was originally created to describe- JOHN MCCAIN.
The Democrats are as happy as pigs in slop tonight. But Romney isn’t out of it yet. Paul and Huckabee need to get out and get behind Mitt or we’re finished.
Sharon,
“Loyalty to the Republican Party” got a lot of good men and women killed or injured in Iraq because most “loyal” Republicans would not stand up to Donald Rumsfeld. John McCain, in an act of what I guess you would consider disloyalty to his party, but loyalty to his country and the men and women fighting for it, was the first and most consistent Republican to stand up to Rumsfeld.
I know what I’m talking about because I was in Iraq while we were running up and down the highways getting the crap blown out of us.
We didn’t have enough troops on the ground to secure the key areas and supply lines. We didn’t have enough troops to secure all the supply convoys. We ran low on fuel for helicipters, tanks, Humvees, etc. We ran low on ammunition in some areas of the country. We ran low on a lot of things, and it was JOHN McCAIN, who was more concerned about being loyal to his COUNTRY than to his PARTY, who stood up first to Rumsfeld, and pushed the plan by General Petraus that eventually led to the troop surge.
What’s more important? Loyalty to what a man believes is best for his country, or what partisan hacks and political handlers tell him to support?
John McCain has PROVEN his love for and loyalty to this COUNTRY, and I find that to be much more important than loyalty to a political party.
God bless John McCain, the candidate with courage.
I will never vote for McCain …NEVER! I will abstain from the vote if he is the nominee. Let the Republicans sink this ship without me. What a disappointment.
I am deeply sadened that Mitt Romney lost since I felt and still feel that he is the better man for the Presidency. I urge each of you strong Republicans to vote for Mitt Romney , he is a better candidate for the Presidency and will surely secure the borders of our Nation. He proved he can lead the Nation successfully by showing how great a Businessman he is! He surely won’t give our Jobs to the Illegals like Mccain would!
IF you don’t want to speak Spanish then Vote for Romney!
I agree that Romney is the true Conservative and he is backed by a bunch of Great people!
Don’t vote for Someone that is best friends with Ted Kennedy!
What got me is that Mccain made the comment that he was a Conservative ! Him a Conservative? Heck no! mccain is A Liberal!
Again Vote for Mitt Romney.
Here is an Article I suggest each of you Republicans Read and Consider when Voting for Presient! :
What McCain Means: Amnesty

What McCain Means
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Friday, January 25, 2008
In 2004, the voters of Arizona, by 56 percent to 44 percent, enacted Proposition 200, requiring proof of citizenship before an individual may vote or receive state benefits. Forty-six percent of Hispanics voted for Prop. 200, giving the lie to those who say Hispanics support the illegal invasion of their country. Over 190,000 Arizonans petitioned to put Prop. 200 on the ballot. As it simply required proof of citizenship before receiving the benefits and privileges of citizenship, who could oppose it?
Answer: the entire GOP congressional delegation, led by Sen. John McCain. This is the same John McCain who battled the border fence and colluded with Teddy Kennedy on the amnesty bill rejected by Congress last year after a national uproar. Bottom line: If the presidential race is between Hillary and Amnesty John, the border security battle is over and lost. As Laura Ingraham asks, “If Congress passes McCain-Kennedy in 2009, would President McCain sign it?”
For conservatives, the stakes could not be higher. For on the great controversies, McCain has sided as often with the Democrats and the Big Media that pay him court as with conservatives. Where President Bush has been bravest, on taxes and judges, McCain has been his nemesis. Not only did McCain vote against the Bush tax cuts twice, he colluded to sell out the most conservative of the Bush nominees to the courts. In 1993, McCain voted to confirm ACLU liberal and pro-abortion Ruth Bader Ginsburg. But when Bush set out to restore constitutionalism, McCain colluded with Democrats who wanted to retain power to kill Bush’s most conservative nominees.

IF you care for your Country you will vote for Mitt Romney!
God Bless Mitt Romney!
Ha ha, goodbye Romney! You’re finished! You spent 10 times what McCain spent and ran 5,000 TV ads (to McCains 400) and you STILL CAN”T WIN.
Romney looks nice and says all of the right things, but intelligent people realize that he is a political fraud. While Governor of Mass, he 1) raised taxes, oh, I mean “fees” 2) was pro stem cell research 3) pro abortion 4) and he implemented a Government mandated (forced) health care plan, which by the way is already a half a billion dollars in the red and similar to Hillary’s plan. Oh, one more thing, when McCain’s immigration plan was proposed 18 months ago, Governor Romney said it was “reasonable and NOT amnesty.”
Romney has now changed his mind on all of these issues simply so he can get elected. But it is not working. Romney is finished!
GO MCCAIN 08!!
As a Republican supporter, I was deeply sadened that Mitt ROmney won. But can’t people see that Mccain isn’t a true Conservative Republican? Mccain is with Kennedy too much and he is for Amnesty and not securing the Border.
I wish each of you will Vote For Romney since he will surely be the better man to lead the nation and surely will help keep our Jobs!
IF you want a President that cares for the Country then vote for Romney. I support Romney and I hope he wins the Remainder of the Republican Prmaries.
Please check out this article to see that Romney is the Better man for the Presidency :
http://www.alipac.us/
Like I said I am sad that Romney lost since I feel he is definately the Better man! Too bad He lost but I am sure he can win the Rest of the Presidential Race.
It is expected that Mccain will be endorsed by Guilliani who I think will change the course of the Republican Nomination since most people won’t support Guilliani. I hope I am right about Romney Winning but you never know.
I am a conservative Republican for Romney.
We still have a long way to go to decide the Winner of the REpublican Race!
A CALL TO ALL HUCKABEE AND THOMPSON SUPPORTERS.
There comes a time in our lives when we have to stand up and rise above differences and work together for a greater cause.
Already the liberal media and its allies are savoring a defeat come November. Some of the pundits are proclaiming that we are about to see a New Republican Party..
It is time to put aside our differences and support the candidate that share our values.
The time is now.
Support the candidate that share our values and conservative principles.
Support the man who is calling upon the strength of the American people to lead a promising, prosperous future.
Support MITT!!!
Amazingly hateful and ignorant comments. There is absolutely no touch with reality in these comments, which is why the republicans are going to lose the presidency and go into permanent exile in the house and senate. your mean and small-minded vision of america is going the way of the dodo bird.
Well, McCain will never ever get my vote after this weekend. I’m not giving up yet; I’ll be fighting this whole week for Romney and voting for him here in California. But, if McCain gets the nomination after this horrific mistake by Floridians, I hope a third party emerges or I’ll just sit home on election day, or maybe do something I never dreamed of and vote for the Dem. Dirty tricks don’t go unnoticed and there are consequences. My early prediction is looking to be true: Romney is just too good of a man to become president. Our process unfortunately only allows for corrupt, dishonest, and ruthless people to get elected. It’s a sad night!
It’s a sad day in Florida and in the U.S!! What are voters in Florida thinking? Is conservativism a thing of the past? For the life of me, I can’t understand what the attraction to McCain is. He has no real substance to him. When he speaks, he says nothing. He doesn’t come across as a smart person. He does nothing to inspire me. Thinking about him as president scares the hell of me (only Huckabe would be worse). McCain has no economic plan for America. His econonic plan is Washington’s business as usual. Is it working? He is a liberal and the liberal agenda will bankrupt this country. I’d rather vote for Hillary or Obama than McCain. At least they are what they say they are. Wake up America!!!!! We need a leader with substance, vision and Brains! We need someone that is committed to conservatism. We need Mitt Romney! My hope and prayers are that the remaining states to vote will make a right choice for this country. I haven’t given up yet. GO MITT!!!!
I agree with you Robert, I have voted Republican since 1980, but I will never vote for McCain. As much as I detest the Clintons, I would vote for her over McCain, and hope the Republican Party learns it’s lesson. I am a conservative first, Republican second, so if the Republicans are going to nominate liberals or moderates, they can do it without my vote. I would rather see them lose so maybe after Clinton screws everything up we can get a conservative to run against her next time around. I am so disgusted to see McCain winning. The only Republican I detest more then McCain is Arlen Spectre.
Come on Florida. What in the world are you thinking. You just gave a liberal, self serving, dishonest man all of your deligates. We as republicans have got to rally for the right. Romney is our only chance at the White House, and at a stable future for America. For those of you still to vote, please dont waste a vote on Huckabee. He will not get the nomination. He is only helping McCain. If you are voting for Huck to make a statement, the only statement you are making is that you dont care if we have a liberal in the White House. Huckabee may carry some southern states, but he will not get the nomination. If you really are concerned about the economy, national security, our rights as citizens, lower taxes, a more responsible government, a change in Washington, securing our borders, etc, etc, etc, then vote for Romney. If you are ok with higher taxes, bigger government, more illegals, or if you are concerned about what Hollywood, or the media thinks, vote for McCain.
Romney supporters, especially in states that haven’t voted yet, please, get out and inform people about Romney. We cannot let McCain represent our party. Those of you who are for Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, or Huckabee, you know they are done. Again, dont waste a vote on trying to make a point, or prove something. Look at how many votes they pulled in FL. If they werent on the ballot, Romney would have taken FL. Instead, a vote for any of them is a vote for McCain. You cant deny that. Huck pulled 13% of the FL vote. 13+31=44.
Hey, here is what I think will happen. 1) if Romney wins (and a big part of me hopes he does) (part of me prays too but thats only because I’m a “crazy mormon”), well if romney wins the ticket he will lose the general election because there are not enough peoplpe in the country who base their vote on sound fiscal policy. Business is seen as a pariah and Romney is its brightest child. If McCain wins the nomination, republicans will vote for him because they hate hillary. But all you people who say that they will not vote for McCain need to realize why that is such a bad idea. Here are some reasons that come to me. 1) In order to fundraise McCain will need to pander to conservatives, to promise cabinet appointments, under-secretary advancement, ambassadors etc. He will need to get in bed with true conservatives and they will retain influence in his administration. 2) McCain will not necessarilly lead the Republican party, especially with his checkered past. This means that his legislation will often meet resistance in Congress. Would we rather have four years of complete deadlock in washington or four years of “Democratic Progress”? As an aside it seems that the constitution sets up a system designed for deadlock so when nothing happens everything is working as designed.
The only reason I see to abstain or switch parties is to hope for a set-up in four years. Bad idea. This year there is no sitting president to unseat. This is the important year.
Those are my thoughts
-Trevor
A very sad day for true conservatives. This party needs a complete overhaul!
How can Republicans vote for a man that aligns almost with Hillary?
What will happen now with Rudys support and eventually the Hucksters? I don’t think Romney can fight against the tide of liberal Republicans.
I can’t even begin to tell you how sick I am of the dbl thumbs up from that weird talk’n little man.
Florida, Florida, Florida what were you thinking?
John McCain is a Liar and a Snake of a politician! He showed no class in making blatant false statements about Mitt Romney right before the primary in an effort to sway less informed voters. I could never get behind such a dishonest man. I hope that there is some sort of backlash for him on super Tuesday for this. Hopefully the rest of America will see him for what he is.
As a Republican, under no circumstances will I ever vote for John McCain!!! I would rather cast my vote for Hillary Clinton and see her in the White House(along with good ‘ol Bill) than vote for him. John McCain is all wrong for America. Pick an issue Economy (no experience), Immigration (amnesty?), Taxes (against Bush tax cuts), War on Terror (he’s going to try and take credit for events set in motion by Bush admin, but all the while say he has a better plan to distance himself from Bush admin, when really he has no plan, savvy?), I could go on and on.
My hope is that us Republicans in the West can get behind a canidate that will truely be right for America. That we can make an informed decision not based on false statements or endorsements, and be able to put whatever prejudices aside. I see now more than ever the need to get behind Mitt Romney or else we better get used to the idea of President Hillary Clinton.
So MITT, you have my VOTE!!!
I am just sick about tonight and disappointed with Rudy’s choice to back McCain. Did everyone in Florida forget about McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Kennedy-Edwards , McCain-Reimportation of Drugs and of course the gang of 14 and the list goes on (article on MarkLevinshow.com) When my Democratic friends say they like McCain (of course would not vote for him in a general election) then there is something wrong. Some true conservatives, Jim Demint, Rick Santorum, Robert Bork, Pat Toomey and also Rush, Mark Levin and Sean don’t think McCain is conservative. So true that when Mitt won it was because he should have won but McCain wins and his is the practically the nominee. Lord help us all. The troops must rally behind MITT. Huckabee is trying to be a spoiler and sides with McCain when McCain lies about MITT’s statements. Also, why does the media and McCain call MITT ads “attack ads” but McCains ads are telling the truth about the “real” MITT. The bias and hypocrisy makes me ill. Go MITT! We are pulling for you!
Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress
I was for Huckabee, but I’m switching to Romney because he’s the only true conservative who can beat McCain.
Since Hillary seems to be doing well, I (a republican) will change my affiliation and vote for Obama in the primary. Clinton campaign is the MOST frightening duo in history.
Thank you media! Thank you new hampshire and FLORDIA! Thank you governer crist. You now gave democrat the rep nomination! GOOD JOB!
Well, the old people, and the Veterens have voted in Florida, the Native sons in Michigan, and super tuesday coming up…..Rudy,is out and will throw support to McCain…..its Mikes turn to get back into the picture ….If Mike doesn’t show well,it will be a blow to Romney, because of all the flack and lies He’s thrown in Hukabee’s path early on…….Someone here said that Mike should drop out and throw his support to Romney…..imagine that would ya…..in this case it would be more like you reap what you sow,and then by their spirit you will know them,in reference to Romney. But all in all it will be a tight race win some lose some.
There are a few things to glean from his though…..Money can’t always buy what you want, and certainly not the heart,of a people that believe, that in order to enjoy our Blessings from God,as a free nation,we have to put God first, and then be safe thru national security ,that its just not smart to have everything the world has to offer and not be able to defend it,that national security does matter, and that we can’t put money in a place that would threaten our national security.such as the Bain Capitol dealings with the Chinese that will eventually become a shot in the arm to Iran…
Pushing up dasies while comfortly knowing that we left a good economy behind for the people that want to kill us isn’t my idea of how Government should be run.Putting together a health plan for instance, without any forsight as to its affect, and affordability is another bad example of this ingenious buisness mind that wants to more of the same from the White House. The fees He imposed, that everybody wants to downplay, that amounted to a raise in taxes is another display of the buisness ways Romney has to offer ….and then there’s Stephen’s comment that showed documented references to Romney putting a Dog crate on the roof of his vehichle, with the dog in it I might add,and driving all over the place, getting sited, for it,and then having His followers make public, an incident that involved Huckabee’s son…..Then there is his arrest record for not listening to an auhority of the law about launching his boat without the proper registration,he got hand uffed and taken away,Ah but herein lis the avenues in which money does become a factor, you see you use it to get the charges erased from the Books.but there ae probably traces….these were fees, that had to be paid, and he didn’t pay them but, expected as Governor, everybody else to do so,then there was the vulgar tirade during those famous Olympics, that is often mentioned here, at a traffic director…This doesn’t sound like the upstanding man with the impeccable reputation that is often mentioned in these commentaries.this don’t sound like a man that has any respect for even the law(as in the boat incident)let alone we the ordinary people whose votes he needs…..He and his followers are crying foul right now,but the reality is that he threw dirt into the wind, and it blew back and hit him in the snoot.
The wind blew his boat in the wrong direction in Florida, which proves that once you get the sail up,you have to know what to do with it…so I wonder what his focul points will be from here on out?In Michigan he’s going to fix the unfixable, unless he’s going to sell off Michigan to the Japanese. He should have as a native son, with all that money He recived from Dad,been there when they needed him. Not wait until He needed them, and their votes. With all the money He has spent out of his own pocket on Himself in this campaign, had he any compassion for his home state,he could have fixed it while it could be fixed.Im not sure either, what his focul points will be,but its safe to bet that all of a sudden he’ll know more about national security than McCain….if that were true, and McCain isn’t the man….then we should vote for Huckabee,he accomplished more as a Governor served longer, and Mike is the man with the integrity, and, with the true heart. He can better relate to the common folk……After what Stephen Posted, with the references, about what Romney is really like, and what he’s been hiding, there is no more need to spread the propaganda about his reputation, because the other side has come out
So is your one vote more than my one vote…..I won’t vote if Romney’s the candidate…….What’s your point….sounds like a little frustration to me….maybe we all should band together and VOTE HUCKABEE
McCain should be quoting that line from the movie Tombstone “I’m your Huckleberry’…that Val Kilmer said so well.
Here are the facts. McCain still has a huge problem with Conservatives, getting about 26% of them last night. I have not doubt from their early debating Tag-Team, that Huckleberry is just sticking around to take votes from Romney. Thompson may have done so to Huck in SC, but Thompson said all along that was his state. When Fred lost, he bowed out gracefully. Just as Rudy is said to be rumored to do in California (possibly endorse McCain). A linger Rudy, with no chance to win, would take similar votes from McCain. So the question has to be asked of Huckleberry. He has no chance of winning, out of money………..but who does he hurt most by staying in?? Exactly, Romney. In this campaign, I have lost all respect for Huckster/McCain. Huck for his early on, almost lovefest, tag with McCain in debates to pile on Mitt. And McCain, for his last minute ’say anything’ weekend of falsehood before Florida primary. I continually hear guys like Toe-Sucker, turned political pundit, Dick Morris say McCain has only chance of winning. This is pure ‘ false-talk’, because General is not until Nov. So we are to believe polls now?? Six months ago, national polls showed Rudy/Romney in top stop……..were they true?? Also many pundits has suggested McCain will eventually unite the party. Well he really? I like many conseratives I know, absolutely distrust the man. While it MIGHT be true a more negative canidate like Hillary, could have people ‘hold their nose’ as McCain’s mother has said and HAVE to vote for him. I’d say, depends on any third canidates. However, many I know, myself included, would be very tempted to vote for Obama in a Obama/McCain showdown. I have absolutely nothing in common on issues with Obama, however he has one thing more appealing than McCain, he comes across genuine. So the say anthing ‘talk express’, may end up losing alot of Republicans, not on the issues, but rather his career politian moto, of untrustworthy and say anything to win. As side note, my conservative friends feel an Obama on the other side and tidalwave of younger voters towards change(Bush negativity rating), that he would overwhelmingly win. So many I know would take pleasure in voting one time, in forsee loss anyway, to give McCain the smackdown and history of losing worst than Dole. They call it Dole part 2. I like Dole, but thought he was not best canidate, but one ’settled on’ or best chance to win. Which is what I see with McCain. So Dick-Tracy-Morris, is understimating the mindset of true conservatives. They would rather lose, the give in on principals.
Feb 5th I will still vote for Romney. My husband and I cannot bring ourselves to vote for McCain, if it’s down to Clinton and McCain, we will not vote. If’s it Obama and McCain, we’ll vote Obama. This is truly a sad day for Republicans…
Too bad the media doesn’t talk about McCain’s personal affairs nor tell McCain how he is destroying the Republican party.
I am very disappointed to say the least. I am tired of having to vote for “the lesser of two evils”. If John McCain gets the Republican nomination for the 2008 election, for me, there will be no lesser of two evils, and I will be changing my voting registration to Libertarian for future elections, as I will have had my fill of both the Democrats AND Republicans.
I am surprised to see so many negative comments this morning about Senator McCain. Now I know for you hard core Republicans, he may seem too moderate. But in the polls I have seen, McCain is the only one who stands a chance to beat Clinton. McCain is the only candidate that can get us out of Iraq, and has the experience to prove that. As a republican my entire life, I see where we do need a more moderate person to run our country. We must stop this constant bickering about party lines, and fix the real problems that face us and our children. Senator McCain has proven he can work with the other side to make things happen, without giving up his core conservative views. His should be given praise for this, and not see as a traitor to his party. We are all Americans, so we need someone who can make us realize that, and not divide us further, as Romney or Clinton will.
Romney is not fit to be president. He follows an APOSTATE in the person of Joseph Smith, he believes that Joseph Smith – NOT JESUS CHRIST – holds the keys to salvation. No mormon can enter the kingdom of heaven unless and until they accept Jesus Christ as the Savior of Humankind, and deny that Joseph Smith is the key to their salvation.
Joseph Smith in his pride claimed a larger accomplishment than Jesus Christ!
Joseph Smith’s Apostasy (these are taken from MORMON books!):
• Joseph Smith: “I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him, but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet” (History of the Church, Vol. 6, pp. 408-9).
• “No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith … Every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, Junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are” (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289).
• Joseph Smith will receive the keys of the resurrection. “If we ask who will stand at the head of the resurrection in this last dispensation, the answer is – Joseph Smith, Junior, the Prophet of God. He is the man who will be resurrected and receive the keys of the resurrection, and he will seal this authority upon others, and they will hunt up their friends and resurrect them” (Brigham Young, Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 116).
I have been criticized on another board for being “intolerant” … LET ME GIVE YOU A LESSON ABOUT TOLERANCE:
1) Tolerance (political correctness) is a liberal idea, something that tries to shame us from being critical of those things that we feel strongly against.
2) Religious tolerance for legitimate religions is important, but it is also important to identify fraudulent religions (such as Mormonism and Scientology). Any religion that denies Christ as the savior and exalts a mere human being as having the “keys to resurrection” is NOT Christianity.
3) IF a person believes that Mitt Romney’s religion is not Christianity, and that by claiming he is a Christian he is fraudulently representing himself as “one of us” – then the opinion should be shared and the information revealed.
In my opinion Mormonism is a fraud that represents itself as a Christian religion when, in fact, it denies that Christ holds the keys to resurrection and it is only through Christ that we can enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
If Mitt Romney Believes that Joseph Smith is his savior, HE WILL NOT GET MY VOTE!
Carl,
I looked through these posts and didn’t read one for McCain. I go along with everyone elses thoughts. McCain is an awful choice for the Republican Pary. I would rather vote for a democrat than McCain. I guess the New York Times, illegal aliens, and democrats are happy he won Florida. It will make Mitt’s work all that much harder. I only hope he makes it for our country’s sake. We need someone like him. I am very disappointed in Florida right now. Kudos to the 31 per cent that voted with my man! I hope a few good conservatives have the backbone to stand up with Mitt against the McCain joke.
Having followed the the primaries from the beginning, it amazes and confuses me as to how voters make decisions.
As a conservative, I believe that we as a country currently face and a variety of problems and will likely face different future problems that can only be effectively addressed by a President with certain traits. Those traits are: moral integrity, leadership ability, intelligence, and management experience (emphasis not political). In addition, the President should have a vision of what this country is and can be which is firmly routed in traditional “American and Family Values”.
Of the Republican candidates their are several who possess some of the traits and values mentioned, but to my mind only one who has throughout his life and career demonstrated them all. That candidate is Mitt Romney.
I would hope that voters in the primaries and elections would evaluate each candidate based on exhibited traits traits and values as opposed to how they feel about the current hot issue. Our future is to important to do otherwise. Do your own research.
Please people, this race is FAR from over! The exit polls in Florida showed that Frist’s endorsement had HUGE impact on McCain’s win. The rest of the country doesn’t care who Frist endorses.
Look at the polls, Romney’s trends lines are going up, while eveyone elses are down! It is down to a two man race now, and with conservatives behind him, and the resources to take his message to many states, Romney has a real chance to win!!
Romney WILL win the nomination!! Republican’s are not going to allow our party to be hijacked and redefined by womeone who sides with the democrats half of the time!
MITT ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Iwant Fred back…..never should have let him go.What we’re people thinking?Had the right man and stupidity got the best of them I guess.
Far from over………………
McDonald’s big-Mac -93 delegates
Mitt – 59 (soon to be 80 with additional 21 from Maine where he leads)
Huck- 40
Paul -5
NO, I don’t know either why last two are in……………..well I do with Huck, he likes getting patted on the head by McCain (good-boy) as a new found attack dog…..
Then on to Big Tuesday……………however far from over….
McCain- 3 wins (NH, SC, FL)
Mitt -3 wins(Wy, NV, MI) soon to be 4 saturday in Maine
Why has no one mentioned McCain’s marriage history and how he got elected into the Senate? After he came home from being a POW he remained married to his wife, who faithly waited for him, for only 4 years. And then married his sugar mama, whose daddy’s money got him elected. His wife is a millionaire, why doen’t she dump some of her money into his campaign instead of begging others for it.
I too will not be voting for McCain if he gets the nomination, especially if he getting that smoozing Huckasmuck as a Veep.
Go Mitt!
Well, this is one Republican who will be looking elsewhere to vote come Fall. Obama….he’s not looking too bad.
Romney is the best candidate – period.
Open your eyes and get over the polls and bigotry. I want to actually vote for Romney, but by the time I get a chance he will be railroaded out by the liberal MSM.
I can’t hold my nose and vote for McCain or Huckabee because of their dishonesty. They simply lost the trust I was willing to give them. If I don’t vote for Obama, I’ll probably write-in Romney.
Romney can bring direction and purpose to our fractured party. Give Mitt the chance to prove it.
Mormonism IS a cult – it’s not sad, it’s true.
They believe that Jesus Christ is not the way – that Joseph Smith is the way. They actually believe that Joseph Smith will hold the keys to resurrection! That without a certificate from Joseph Smith (or, presumably, his successors in the Church of LSD), you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. This is written about in their own books.
That is NOT a Christian … that’s a SMITHIAN!
Just because you can mention the name of Jesus Christ does not mean that you are a Christian.
I have Mormon friends, as well – we have spoken about this issue and it usually gets dodged. I love them and their families, and I think that their doctrines for living a good life are constructive.
But we do not achieve salvation by good deeds (which is what Mormons believe) – we achieve salvation by FAITH and FAITH ALONE. Faith that Jesus Christ is God, and that through him (and only through him) are we resurrected and do we attain everlasting life.
Christianity and Mormonism part ways right here.
So let’s call it what it is – not as a derogatory term – but as a technical attribute. Mormonism is a cult, not derived from the Christian traditions but rather invented by a man, Joseph Smith, who exalted himself above Christ and leads millions of people to believe in himself rather than in salvation through Christ.
Mitt Romney presumably believes every last bit of this, since he was a bishop and a Stake President in the Mormon Church.
Could it be that alot of republicans last night had voted a couple of weeks ago in the early voting and voted for McCain? I can only think so. If not, we have lost the conservative republican party and need to start a party of our own called the CONSERVATIVE PARTY. I’m afraid that McCain and other liberal elements have hijacked the Republican party.
Lets get off our duffs and get Mitt Elected. Drop out Hickabee stop pandering to McCain in hopes of a VP nomination.
Just remember – if you vote democrat because you don’t like McCain – you will be voting for someone who believes in ABORTION!!!
And why do so many Americans have no common sense when it comes to picking a president anyway??? Why do they allow themselves to be led around by the nose instead of researching facts for themselves???
Huckabee supporters – please read with an open mind
Huckabee has won ONE state…and it was a small state at that whose caucus was flooded (55-60%) by a single group of voters. Since then, he hasn’t even won a majority of Evangelicals in any state outside of SC. He’s come in 3rd -5th in every contest with the exception of IA and SC.
Does he have some supporters? Yes, no question, but not nearly enough to win enough delegates to win the nomination.
Take FL as a great example – he tied Romney and McAmnesty for the Evangelical vote. Among non-Evangelicals he won a dismally low 6%. Single digits, my friends.
Listen, I share your same values and probably nearly all your same objectives and hopes in a candidate, but Huckabee has not shown an ability to garner substantial support outside of Evangelicals. Add to that not enough staff or money and he has no chance. Hey, I wish my candidate were doing better as well, but it is what it is.
I’m voting for Romney because he’s the only one left who can beat McAmnesty. In every state (except SC), Romney has won the majority of self-identified Republicans and Conservatives. Huckabee can’t beat the guy whose butt he’s kissing. It just doesn’t work–Ask Rudy.
Final thought – why not have winning Conservative ticket with Huckabee and Romney? Naturally both candidates would have to kiss and make up. Their supporters would have to agree that some of their ideas would have to change a bit…but at their core they both probably want many of the same things–reformed tax code, stronger borders, tougher illegal immigration, balanced budgets, strong military, constructionist judges, smaller government, less regulation, No on abortion and gay marriage…. Who cares if they differ on their concept of the Trinity? I certainly don’t!
Anyone watch the debate tonight?
Wow, McCain is not presidential. He’s racking up actors and NY Times endorsements, but his only credentials are talking about 30 years ago when he was first elected. Then came his affair, Keating 5, voting against tax cuts, supporting research on embryonic stem cells and writing the AMNESTY bill. He has fought for liberal Democrats on most of the important issues.
He is not even close to presidential. He’s not a smart man, and as a conservative Republican myself, I am ashamed McCain is being considered. This man is beloved by liberals for good reason.
I am calling on social and economic conservatives, conservatives who oppose amnesty, who want a vigorous, intelligent and strong president, to support Mitt Romney. A vote for anyone else is a vote for McCain AMNESTY.
What did McCain offer Sen. Martinez and Gov. Crist to get them to back him???
Carl,
Just thought you might want to update delegate count to reflect correct count.
McCain – 97
Romney – 74

Mccain spent most of the night either terribly constipated or trying very hard not to drop an F-bomb on Romney. He fell all over his words and failed to make any sense. It was sad to see just how poorly he can articulate himself.
I had to laugh out loud when he said that he kenw how to handle the immigration issues since he is from a border state. He fought long and hard to give illegal aliens free college tuition in Arizona. The school and hospitals are in crisis because of the constant flow of illegal aliens in Arizona. He hasn’t fixed the problem – he has made it worse.
[...] … so much for our predictions. McCain wins and has a massive advantage in the Feb. 5 states especially with the news below, except in the [...]
I am troubled by all the talk about whether McCain is not conservative enough…or too liberal…or too old. I respect those opinions. However, after serving my country for 23 years in the US Navy, I believe our number one priority is keeping the USA safe and secure from radical terrorism. What? You say economy? Well just remember what 9/11 did to our economy.
McCain is the only man that has the experience to successfully lead us through, what will most probably be, a troubled, uncertain future. His life has been dedicated to serving his country both as a Naval Aviator and Senator. McCain has the necessary experience to be our Commander In Chief.
What McCain has NOT served is his bank account. I like Romney…but he is still an outsider and is your typical corporate executive. So what if he has tons of cash for commercials? So what if he did a bang up job with the Olympics? And what about his record as Governor? Senator McCain, as an insider, has the political and foreign policy experience to keep the peace, or if necessary, fight the good fight and WIN.
Do I totally agree with Iraq? Not really. But I most certainly believe that we must finish the job and rebuild a close alliance with leaders of ALL Middle Eastern nations. This will allow us to identify emerging threats and take preemptive action. I believe McCain will do these things and will consequently keep our families and our country safe and secure.
John McCain is a liar. He lied about Romney’s record in Florida and he lied again during the California debate. I will never vote for McCain I’d rather have Hillary and Obama on the same ticket. I will encourage everyone I know to vote democrat if McCain wins the nomination. GO ROMNEY!!!
Yeah, conservatives can’t support a republican who supports a path way to citizenship, supported McCain-Feingold, won’t put stict constructionist on the Supreme Court and supports out of control spending by the federal government. You know, a republican like George W. Bush, who supported the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill, signed McCain-Feingold, tried to shove Harriet Meirs down our throats and has presided over the largest increase in the federal deficeit to date. That kind of republican. Instead, lets all rally around a conservative who was pro-abortion rights (till recently) pro gay marriage (till recently) whose state wide health care plan is a joke and has presented himself as 3 different kinds of candidate (Mitt 1.0 – progressive republican; Mitt 2.0 – Reagan lite and Mitt 3.0 – the economic warrior). That’s my candidate — if I want to lose but feel smug because I didn’t accept something that was 80% of what I support because Rush told me not too. In closing – MAC IS BACK.
redhots, I agree that Giulliani is better than McCain but when you say- “The only candidate who really can appeal to the masses is Giuliani.”
Remember that most conservatives can see right through the liberal media and there bashing is an endorsement for the candidate. If Rudy was truly a strong conservative we would not see the endorsement for McCain. It looks as though he is looking for a seat of power and willing to give up his “so called” conservative ideals to do so.
Allison, there’s not much more to say than what you did its over, and you have to move on…..But it does make me wonder what you’d be saying if the opposite were true……..I’ve never seen more predictions go down the drain, and so much whining than I have since the people of Florida spoke.
This strategy of the followers of the Utah crowd all banding together to flood the blog, doesn’t seem to be working….nor does all the money Romney’s spending on these ads….You just can’t project oneself as Mr. goody two shoes, and get arrested and taken to City Hall in your bathing suit, while handcuffed,or go on a vulgar tirade over a traffic cop at the Olympics,or put your dog in a crate, and then put the crate on top of your car,and drive for hours, and expect people to honor the “He’s a good family man and has ony been married once”sort of stuff, when all this other stuff is public knowlege….Romney’s a polotition trying to work his way to heaven, not the White House, and if He did make it to the White House he’d be a lame Duck president fom the very beginning, because of that covenant with the Living Prophet…He would be a figurehead, thats all
Go McCain! Romney flip flops more than a catfish stuck in a sand pit.
Romney has no consistent stance.
McCain can help change the Republican party, to exactly where it needs to go. I am tired of absolute failures, like Bush Jr., who has made me regret voting for him.
For those saying McCain is not a conservative, who is your current idol? Bush Jr, who has spent us into oblivion?
Romney, who in reality has supported health plans as bad as Clinton’s?
Some of you may not like who McCain is, or what he represents, but at least you can know a bit about him. Sure, he is a politician, but Romney is a facade of a facade.
Not to mention, while the economy may be more in focus right now, one terrorist attack and you will wish the economics of this moment were our biggest problem.
McCain will win the general election. He carries the reasonable Republicans, the Independents, and those who are disgusted by the Clintonians.
President McCain, learn it, love it, say it!
Greetings,
I can’t help but feel Mitt Romney is right. He is an outsider and that is the reason why no one wants to endorse him. I want somebody that is not in the beltway loop. I am a republican but feel both parties have sold the American people out. Neither party wants to build that fence, and both parties want to ship our jobs overseas with unfair free trade agreements. I can’t understand as an Arizona Senator, why he is not screaming at the top of his lungs for more border control. Why is the American Tax Payer being held hostage and paying the price for these policies and illegal immigrants?
Vic
Carl Cameron~
Sadly you are very biased!
Too bad, I used to love fox, but your unfair comments are frustrating.
I will get a good book, and wait to see who is the most unfair canidate to win.
Dem’s Obama and GOP’s Romney would be a fair choice, if the people were given an hoest reporting from you.
Shame, Shame! When Carl’s face or name comes up, I will quickly change the channel and hope for the best.
Some people run for president to “do” something.
Some people run for president to “be” something.
McCain does not have the guts to do the right things as president.
His country and its citizens will be the last thing on his mind.
Problems such as border security, social security, war on terror,
campaign finance reform, economic stability etc. will not be dealt
with because it takes guts and leadership to make anything happen.
If McCain had these qualities: Where have they been?
Good going Florida. I think all of you have been asleep too long.
When will you ever learn to face the truth?
Enough with the hateful, ignorant, bigoted, oft-times factually unbased, anti-Mormon posts. Enough!!!!
Get the hell out of our party with your anti-Constitutional views. As a party that has long fought to keep God in the classroom, a party that has fought to keep God from being marginalized and excluded from public discourse, a party that believes in the Constitution and the freedom of religion and the prohibition of a religious test for public office…you simply have no place among us trying to tear somebody down because they have a different concept of the Trinity than you do.
You have your faith and I have mine. We may not agree on all points, but *true Conservatives* will respect and defend each other’s right to believe as they see fit.
