Cameron's Corner

What to make of Hizzoner?

Die hard supporters are still there, most others are gone. If Florida’s winner will be the nominee, as Rudy Giuliani has said for months, what does he do if he loses?

There are plans to attend the GOP debate at the Reagan Library Wednesday.

Some campaign aides privately gripe about what might have been. There are those who believed Rudy could have competed and won New Hampshire.

One insider/operative railed that Rudy did not have enough people with experience running national presidential campaigns.

Republicans attending rallies in Florida for Rudy for the last ten days have routinely spilled into the parking lots afterward complaining that the Mayor’s decision not to compete “up north” took him out of the news and perhaps out of serious contention.

Without the kind of money that only a win can bring, the Giuliani campaign is at a big super tuesday disadvantage. John McCain leads polls in most of the states Rudy was counting on easily winning.

Senior advisers and campaign officials routinely boasted about all the states Rudy would win after taking the first winner take all state in the ‘08.

He said Monday he lives his life expecting miracles. There were none for Americas Mayor in Florida today. Now comes the question of what he’ll do next. Staff, advisers, friends, have thought and even whispered about it in recent days. There have been some serious conversations at very high levels.

Some insiders say he should drop out quickly, make his Sunshine state concession, his national one.

Others say attend the L-A debate. Go out on a high note. Stay in through Super Tuesday to say you gave it your all, live each day expecting miracles.

I am a college student and don’t really have time to watch TV but when I do it is susally the news to catch up on the elections and what is going on in the world. I must admit that I am so severly disappointed that Ron Paul is NEVER EVER EVER included in the reports on the G.O.P race, I mean I thought ABC was supposed to be “unbiased”…doesn’t seem that way to me. I am so appalled at the favourites that ABC is picking for this election. Please remeber that there are people who want the truth.

Why do I have to watch MSNBC to see the vote count for Fred Thompson. Carl, he is getting over 1 percent as a non-candidate, while Paul gets less than 3 percent. I think that is significant. How about FNC?

I hope Rudy does not give UP!!! If he does then I have NO ONE TO VOTE FOR! He is the WOMEN’S Choice. Please do not give up yet…Reagan, Bush, Bush, Nixon Did Not.

I know Fox has seen some criticism about lacking coverage of this candidate or that candidate, and for the most part, that’s sour grapes. But you’ll have to agree (review your own records) that the coverage of Huckabee has really waned in the last several days in favor of Giuliani – especially in coverage of the Florida primary. “But these other guys are the front runners”, you might say. Well, keep this in mind: Romney has the most delegates, so he should get slightly more coverage. Paul the least, and getting the least coverage, which makes sense. However, right up the ladder from Paul is Giuliani, then McCain. McCain’s poll numbers might garner him increased covereage, yet, if you review the stats, Giuliani has one delegate – ONE FREAKIN’ DELEGATE! – no hope of winning in Florida, and he gets 10 times the coverage of Huckabee, who, in the delegate count, is in second place! Say what you will, but coverage translates into votes. Guys, you’re letting Giuliani’s name buy the coverage (and I like the guy!). Remember, though, this is NOT as much a popular vote contest as it is a delegate contest, and Mike’s in second place (of course, that changes tonight)! I love that you’re fair and balanced, but in this case, quit being so star-struck. Giuliani’s gone after Florida, so hopefully you’ll “re-discover” Mike. Do that voodoo you do so well, and go back to that fair and balanced thing.

Stay in!

50 states!

You have been fighting this long, fight at least one more week, for nothing else, you will get a ton of delegates and can do some damage at the convention.

Now each party has a Democrate in it.

I sure hope he stays in through Super Tuesday. I’m all in favor of a Super Tuesday with all states participating so that the first few who currently hold their caucuses don’t get to decide who the rest of us get to vote for.

Love your coverage Cameron!

God Carl, let it go. No one wanted the guy to be elected. All this talk about him not competing in Iowa and New Hampshire, but the guy had more than a hundred events in each of those states. No one voted for him because he isn’t what people want. Get out now and stop wasting peoples time and money.

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:

-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

I use to support Huckabee, but a vote for him now means a vote for McCain AMNESTY. Vote Romney to save the conservative movement from the New York Time’s favorite Republican, Juan McCain.

Willis,
Oh, no doubt! McCain ran a great campaign, especially in light of Giuliani’s freefall! So congrats to McCain’s camp. Today [the day after], though, Fox has written off Huckabee (shades of “network” news), but if you look at the polls, he’s in a statistical tie for second place – all that, and no money since day one. Now THAT’s an accomplishment! Whatever happens, though, this is going to be a roller-coaster ride next Tuesday. So far, this is one of the best campaign seasons since Reagan showed Carter the door!

Good bye and good riddance, America’s Mayor!!

Maybe I’m mistaken but Carl Cameron seems to have some “man love” for John McCain. The Fox executives should rein this in.
