McCain tries to put Mitt away in Massachusetts
McCAIN PLAYS TO DEFEAT MITT ONCE AND FOR ALL IN MASSACHUSETTS
With a commanding lead in most super Tuesday states GOP front-runner John MCCain is looking for a put away punch in Mitt Romney’s home state of Massachusetts.
McCain hopes to win a big majority of the 1,023 nomination delegates that are up for grabs in the 21 states that have contests 2/5 (there are 15 primaries, 5 caucuses and 1 state convention,
Ten of the races are winner take all) But Romney has signaled that may not push him out of the race.
The McCain campaign believes beating Romney “in the state where people know him best” would be a decisive blow that would force Romney to reconsider and ultimately withdraw. However all the latest polls show Romney with a decisive lead in the bay state.

As FOX was first to report Wednesday, McCain plans to watch the Super Bowl and campaign in Boston!! Sunday night and Monday morning.
McCain has TV ads on the air in Massachusetts via a current national cable buy. Aides say they are going up with local radio spots tonight. In addition Former Massachusetts Governor(s) Jane Swift and Paul Cellucci both have full schedules of surrogate campaign events on behalf of McCain – they are not saying nice things about Mitt.
Finally the campaign has launched an aggressive robo telephone call blitz and expects helpful editorials from the Boston Globe and Boston Herald newspapers which have both endorsed McCain.
Romney has said repeatedly to FOX NEWS and others in recent days that he plans to continue after Super Tuesday and will assess his best path forward after the results are tabulated.

It is a shame that Mr McCain is campaining in Mr Romney’s home state while Mitt is showing respect for the leader of his church that is being layed to rest today. It doesn’t say much about Mr. McCain
News on the street is McCain has cancer. He has threatened law suits against anyone who leaks the information. Is this true?
Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges; also said Alito was too conservative for his liking
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President; publicly considered leaving the Republican Party in 2001 after he lost the primary
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress
We opened 2 businesses in the state of Mass because of Romney’s leadership and ability to get health insurance off the ground. How dare McCain try to slam the door in Romney’s face in this great state, that door is just gonna come right back and hit McCain in the face! McCain’s McCenomics doesn’t have business owners fooled!!! WE LOVE ROMNEY HERE IN MASSACHUSETTS!!
This will be remembered as a serious mistake on McCain’s part. But he is a very mean person and he just can’t help it. He would be much smarter to be in Tennessee or Georgia or Missouri, three states that are very tight and could give Mitt life. This mean spirited tactic is a fitting encore to his nastiness in Florida and will remind all Republicans why many of us will never vote for him in November.
Who would know better Than Jane???????
Romney will win Mass. McCain is an old and emotionally unstable bitter man. Romney has a lot of support in McCain’s home state of Arizona. Romney inspires with his qualifications, education, amazing family, values, and solid policies. Romney is the only candidate to save our economy and he is now the only candidate to save the republican party. McCain has destroyed his “straight talk express” with his constant lies and under the table deals. How is McCain going to pay everyone back? He has made too many opposing deals to do so. I am with Romney all of the way to the white house! Romney ‘08
McCain is a closet liberal. So far there have been 6 state primaries. McCain has won 0 of the states by republican votes. Mitt Romney had more republican votes in 4 of the 6 states!
McCain does not represent the republican party. Mitt Romeny does.

I will throw up if McCain ( or a Democrat ) becomes President.
THROW UP!
McCain is not a Republican and there will be amnesty for illegal aliens.
I am sick.
I want Mitt.. he will do something about illegal immigration, the economy and healthcare reform.
A VOTE FOR HUCKABEE IS A VOTE FOR MCCAIN!!!
Wow , that McCain he is a real gentleman isn’t he? (Not) What kind of guy says that aloud. Oh hey I know the same kind of guy who would leave his wife (because she put on a few pounds) and run off with a young, beautiful rich young woman. THAT IS REALLY UGLY AND HE CONTINUES TO SHOW HIS TRUE COLORS everyday! John McCain is old, mean and rude.
Romney lost Iowa after spending millions. Romney lost New Hampshire after spending millions. Romney lost SC after spending millions. Romney lost Florida after spending millions. What does that tell you? He is good at losing and spending millions while doing it. I am sure he can spend your money just as well as he spent not only his, but the $730 million of Massachusetts taxpayers money.
Romney won Wyoming which no other candidate campaigned for, none. Romney won Nevada which only Ron Paul contested. Romney won Michigan which is where he was born and his father was a 3 term Governor. Of course he should of won those.
Huckabee is statistically TIED with Romney nationally according to the RCP average. If you look at polls for Super Tuesday, Huckabee is ahead of Romney in more of them than he is behind. So exactly who is spitting the vote here?
You want to know what Romney stands for? The video below is of a news broadcast talking about Romney’s new tactic to win the White House. Is this who you want as your President?
This is a shameless tactic of McCain and makes me think less and less of him. Any decent republican is grateful for the service Romney rendered in the state of Massachusetts. It isn’t easy to become elected governor if you are republican, and Romney did a fine job. If McCain thinks he can solve his credibility issues by staging a victory stump in Massachusetts, he had better think twice.
I wonder why fox is not putting the latest poll numbers in this article. Oh, I know….Because their for McCain.
I accidently hit send when I was not nearly through critiquing Carl’s political coverage. I have reviewed the Rasmussen polls and McCain does not in fact have a commanding lead in most super Tuesday states. In some of the Northeast States he has an impressive lead, but your story leader is so exageratted as to be misleading. I’m not sure what your motivation is, but you are not fair or balanced. Your reporting has caused me to question Fox news coverage as a whole. Just in case my earlier message got lost rather than sent, let me state once again that Rasmussen shows Romney at 55% with McCain at 23%, which is, as Rasmussen says, a crushing lead. That would be an interesting fact to put in your story. It appears you don’t let things like facts get in the way of your reporting. Do you ever run a positive story on Romney? If you ever read the comments to stories, you would see rather an impressive Romney following. Fox news watchers all, many of whom have become disenchanted with Fox in large part because of your coverage.
I used to think Mccain was a nice guy, man he really turned out to be a sleeze
Carl, a quick check on Rasmussen reports would show you that the most recent poll has Romney leading McCain there 55% to 23%. I suppose it’s possible that McCain “will put him away” there but it seems unlikely if you consider the polls. Nice report.
Mr. Cameron,
I always appreciate your dispatches from the front. They give us the benefit of a deeper analysis than you can use for broadcast. But don’t you think that just now it’s Huckabee (a shill?) and not McCain who’s going to do in Romney, irrespective of the humiliation in the Commonwealth? Sure, McCain can peel Dems disgusted with Hillary’s venality and unimpressed by Ted’s and Kerry’s endorsements, but isn’t the constituency that Romney absolutely has to have this weekend the one for which he’s competing with Huckabee?
McCain wont succeed ! Mitt is it !!
McCain’s blatant dislike of Romney might come back to haunt him. It’s one thing to strategize about it privately, but doing it so blantantly might turn off potential voters.

The stakes are high on Super Tuesday for the republican parties’ presidential contenders, but it could not be higher for them than it is for America.
It is very important for the voter to do some homework this weekend so that we as a nation do not end up with a severe case of buyers’ remorse on Wednesday morning. We must be true to our roots and not allow the wolves in sheep’s clothing to rob us blind, and deprive us of who we are, and what we represent as a people once enlightened with the vision of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush.
There are wolves and they have been running a well coordinated attack, and have already taken some of our associates down. These wolves have us on the run and have begun to strategically divide us, and scatter us in preparation for the final move, the destruction of liberty. They want to chase us down the dark road too socialism. We need to rally around our core principles and adhere to them. We must ensure the safety, and success of our parties’ great but now endangered legacy. We need to rise up with a united voice and cast our vote this coming Tuesday, to the only conservative out there; that man is Mitt Romney. Vote Mitt Romney President of the United States of America in 2008.
http://libertysfront.blogspot.com/
With the recent victory of John McCain in Florida, the implosion of Rudy’s campaign, and the Huckster’s refusal to get off of McCain’s lap; success for Mitt Romney seems to be dissipating quickly. The Republican Party is being hijacked by a highly sinister group of liberal democrats dressed in sheep’s clothing; by liberal’s hell bent on the destruction of the American dream and way of life. These men seek power more than the welfare of their fellow countrymen. If John McCain happens to win the republican nomination by trickery, well shame on you America for not doing your homework. You are going to get what you deserve. I have watched this nomination as closely as anyone since its beginning and I am sickened to the core at what I am witnessing. The hard fact is that Mitt Romney was the only viable candidate for this election cycle. He is truly the only conservative in the race.John McCain is not a conservative and Mike Huckabee is not a conservative. Fred Thompson was, but was way out of his league this time, and he wisely saw that, and resigned his campaign to the annals of history. My plea today is that we, as the base of the Republican Party, stand up to these imposters who will say and do anything to impose their ill will upon the American people. Toss them out onto their faces and elect the one and only true conservative Mitt Romney.Vote

“If you’re a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue further than that. If you are a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now, and that’s Mitt Romney.
– Senator Rick Santorum
Here’s what the CEO of one of the businesses Romney helped said about Romney’s LEADERSHIP:
Boston, MA – Today, Staples Founder Thomas Stemberg released the following statement regarding Governor Romney’s record of growing businesses and creating jobs:
“At this critical time for our economy, the United States needs a leader in Washington who actually has a record in the private sector of creating jobs. That leader is Mitt Romney. He knows what it takes to create jobs because he has done it time and time again. As a businessman, Governor Romney took a chance and invested in the first Staples store. Today, tens of thousands of Staples employees across this country have jobs because of that decision. That’s a clear record of action that Mitt Romney repeated time after time. Washington needs leaders who can do more than just talk about creating jobs.”
*emphasis added
If I were McCain I’d be worried about Arizona, Mitt is gaining fast on him in the latest polls there. The MA polls are showing Romney has a strong lead in his home state. I really wish you Fox people would stop with the McCain is inevitable promotion, not only is it not fair or balanced, its plain not true. In my humble estimation Romney will keep a good pace with McCain in delegates on Super Tuesday, and then will win later larger states such as Texas. McCain is far from the certain nominee.
I also notice you never point out that both Swift and Cellucci have axes to grind with Romney. I always see inherent biases noted of any conservatives that speak out against McCain. You should really pay attention to your base of viewers Fox, I don’t really watch your channel anymore. The only thing I see when I flip it on is cheerleading for the latest liberal GOP “Front-Runner”, the “Murder of the Week”, Celebrity pap, or some other useless flotsam. Even knowing the leftist bias of your competitors, one tends to get actual news from those channels…… Just some food for thought.
McCain’s strategy continues to be completely dependant upon a media who is willing to spin events in his favor. The ONLY way that McCain gets any kind of a bump by winning in liberal MA as the liberal candidate is if the media loudly proclaim that it means something it doesn’t.
It’s all spin — and I’m tired of seeing (1) how stupid the media thinks people are and (2) how stupid people are. McCain should have been excoriated by all media (not meekly rebuked) for his outright lies about Romney suggesting a date for pulling out our troops.
Romney CRUSHED McCain today in ME. Not a peep is being said about that by anyone!
Hello!!!
McCain sounds very desperate for someone that thinks he is credible. Why go to so much trouble to destroy another human being if you could win on your own accomplishments. Just seems odd.
I left a post last night which appears to have been moderated. I will try again. I am disappointed in Carl Cameron’s reporting, which I think is shallow, short of facts and far from fair and balanced. He fails to mention the huge lead that Romney has in MA, 55% to McCain’s 23% which is so sizable as to cause people to wonder McCain’s motivation in saying he will win this state. Even a blog, when written by a journalist, should be researched, well-written and objective. Carl has been criticized before in the national press for less than complete reporting and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now I have little faith in his reporting, and it makes me concerned about Fox news as a whole. I have reread this post and find nothing defamatory or libelous, only my personal opinion about Carl’s reporting. Let’s see if Carl can stand the heat and post something not so positive about him. Be a grown up and accept some feed back, you certainly don’t mind dishing it, so you should learn to take it.
Enough with the Ron Paul! He doesn’t have a shot!l Mike Huckabee is running for John McCain’s VP right now. Mike Huckabee is definately better than McCain, but the illegal immigration and raised taxes issues are far to important to over look. Mitt Romney is the only one who is solid on those issues and is tried and true in the economy, which is another big issue right now. To Sgt. Dan Campbell, the only candidates that will increase support of the military are McCain and Romney, so that should make your decision even easier to vote for Mitt Romney! Also, I have have served the Army for 13 years myself, but would never use that to gain a vote, or push my agenda!
Astute point, Cindi! (I just love my Peeps; Lincoln was right to trust us even more than Jefferson did.) I spent some time with McCain last night, and you’re right: you can smell it, the telling defensiveness.
I can’t believe you haven’t put this on the home page or said anything about the latest comments from Michael Reagan. He has strong words about John McCain calling himself a “foot soldier” for his dad. This is definitely worth sharing…

Sorry but this mantra that Mitt Romeny is a creator of jobs is a lie, he has made a lot of money and that’s great IMO, but Bain Corporation does not make money by creating jobs in the US. For example Bain corporation came into Intel corp last year and instructed them to laid off 10K plus.
I am not against making money, but the theory behind Romney as a job creator is an absolute joke, there is a big difference between knowing how to make a lot of money for executive and investors and creating jobs.
Dan Campbell, first let me say I respect the years you have spent defending our country. I watched your video, out of respect for you, now would you check out this site out of respect for me. By the way, I watched the whole republican debate in the Regan Library, I have to tell you Dan, your man McCain came across as rude, arrogant, and if not a liar, at least someone who takes comments and twist them around for their own benefit, my mom would have called that lying. Mitt Romney came across as smarter, and more integrity then John McCain, he won that debate hands down. the only thing I can say for Huckabee is he came across as one of McCain’s lackey’s.I believe in my heart, tat McCain and Huckabee are now working together to keep Mitt out, that is the only reason Huckabee is staying in at this point. Anyway, here is the site, I am sure you will check it out as I did your video, again, thanks Dan for your service, I really mean that, oh yea, one thing, Dan as a soldier, a Marine, how can you be for a candidate who would allow this invasion of our country by that of Mexico, refuse to secure our ports and borders, leave them wide open to not just poor Mexicans needing jobs but any jihadist who wants to come bearing dirty bombs or whatever to do us harm? I am one of those people who worked their butts off to keep that bill from happening, please explain to me Dan why you would want someone like that as our President? Or Huckabee either, who made his people pay with their hard earned money to build a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock AR.

Comment to Jeff:
Try researching Bain Capital. Bain Capital invests in faltering companies that still have potential and advise them on the best course of action to salvage the company. From the short list of companies from Mitt Romney’s Bio I’d say Bain Capital did a nice job:
“…Prior to his Olympic service, Mitt Romney enjoyed a successful career helping businesses grow and improve their operations. From 1978 to 1984, Mr. Romney was a Vice President at Bain & Company, Inc., a leading management consulting firm. In 1984, Romney founded Bain Capital, one of the nation’s most successful venture capital and investment companies. Bain Capital helped guide hundreds of companies on a successful course, including Staples, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Domino’s Pizza, Sealy, Brookstone, and The Sports Authority. He was asked to return to Bain & Company as CEO several years later in order to lead a financial restructuring of the organization. Today, Bain & Company employs more than 2,000 people in 25 offices worldwide.

Now here’s some str8 talk from Mr McCain,
1. Defending His Amnesty Bill, Sen. McCain Lost His Temper And “Screamed, ‘F*ck You!’ At Texas Sen. John Cornyn” (R-TX). “Presidential hopeful John McCain – who has been dogged for years by questions about his volcanic temper – erupted in an angry, profanity-laced tirade at a fellow Republican senator, sources told The Post yesterday. In a heated dispute over immigration-law overhaul, McCain screamed, ‘F— you!’ at Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who had been raising concerns about the legislation. ‘This is chickens—stuff,’ McCain snapped at Cornyn, according to several people in the room off the Senate floor Thursday. ‘You’ve always been against this bill, and you’re just trying to derail it.’” (Charles Hurt, “Raising McCain,” New York Post, 5/19/07)
NOW THATS PRESIDENTIAL!!
Jeff, obviously you have never run a business, sometimes a layoff has to be for the greater good or would you rather the business continue on til the whole thing failed and many more lost there jobs? I run several small businesses and sometimes a layoff makes it so that I can weather the bad times but in the long run I usually hire twice as much as I just layed off, it sucks but thats how it works!

John McCain, A Threat To Our National Security
by Ivan Mack
Most conservative republicans have been worried about John McCain’s stances on fiscal, social and economic issues and how he doesn’t relate to the conservative base on those points. Although these worries are legitimate and something conservative voters must consider serious, they must also realize that this isn’t all. John McCain has not only proven bad on many conservative fiscal, social and economic issues, but is proving to be a serious threat to our nation’s security.
Before you discount the points about to be made, please know and understand that each point will be based on fact and information that John McCain has been very vocal about. Everything said has to do with things that John McCain has said in open forums and can be substantiated on many accounts.
John McCain has touted his goodwill towards terrorist by criticizing any type of strong interrogation tactics. He has been loud in letting people know that he has heard the anti-American sentiment and feels it better to bring terrorist prisoners, awaiting questioning, onto American soil rather than have them in Cuba at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo). He said- “I would immediately close Guantanamo Bay, move all the prisoners to Fort Leavenworth (an army base in Kansas) and truly expedite the judicial proceedings in their cases,”
Some of the interrogation tactics used at Gitmo have been dubbed as cruel and inhumane. His aggression towards those who believe such interrogation tactics are necessary is fueled by his own experiences while a POW in Vietnam. He mutters words of his horrible experiences and argues that no man should have to suffer as he did. His reasoning is much like his democrat comrade in that their ability to define torture and successful interrogation tactics is skewed. He might as well reason that war all together is wrong and the killing of terrorist is inhumane. Has killing ever been considered “humane”?
Logic tells me that when it comes to my life, my friends, my families and other American citizens lives we need to do anything and everything we can to keep our people safe! There is a difference between tearing people’s limbs off and using calculated interrogation tactics to get information. The bottom line is that we should always error on the side of preserving US citizen lives and stop worrying about how murderous terrorist are feeling in prison at Guantanamo Bay. Without successful interrogation of prison terrorists we risk the chance of another attack and losing American citizen lives.
The other danger of John McCain is his inability to understand that in order for terrorists to attack on our borders they have to first come through our borders. Again, touting his goodwill, McCain is now infamous amongst conservatives in the know for being the author of one of the most comprehensive amnesty bills that would allow illegal non-US citizens to obtain citizenship in almost a moments notice. The danger doesn’t lie within the amnesty, but in the message that it sends to people throughout the world. The flood gates would open and there would be an immediate influx of people on all sides and borders entering the United States.
Although McCain would now argue that he believes that securing the border is what needs to be done first, this point was never highlighted until he began running for presidency while depending on the vote of conservative republicans. When asked if he would now or later support his amnesty bill he is insistent on pointing out that he believes border security first, while altogether avoiding answering the original question of whether he would still support the bill.
If and when a terrorist attack occurs it wouldn’t be unwise to suggest that it will be in large part because of our weak border policies and our inability to curb a problem that has been past due for decades. John McCain stands in the way of stopping this problem and national security threat by holding strong to the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill. Amnesty rhetoric only fuels the problem and increases the chance of such attacks happening on American soil.
As outrageous as this may sound, John McCain wants to join the international criminal court (ICC) so that foreigners can try our soldiers and people as war criminals. Not only does this sound like a conspiracy and something that would get out of hand, but it is something that would enable other countries part of the ICC to have power and control over US citizens leading to politically motivated charges. Our conservative values state that we need to reduce government and the control government has over our lives, as this will eventually lead to a socialist/communist style of government. This type of Clintonesque political speak is something that is encouraging to terrorists giving them hope and a sense of welcome into scrutinizing our western civilized ways. By joining ICC we are essentially dividing this nation rather than uniting it and creating a bureaucracy for terrorists to use as a platform.
Part of our ability to stay safe in this world has to do with our ability to establish allies and have good working relations with other countries. We need to have someone who is a diplomat and understands how to work with people from all walks of life, even when the situation gets tense and heated. The ability to act as a diplomat and win over leaders of other countries has in large part to do with our Presidents personality, temperament and interpersonal relations with leaders of other countries. This must be done through persuasion and trust. This can only be achieved through having a record showing honesty, integrity and temperance when dealing with other people. John McCain’s record in politics and in his interpersonal relations has been less than stellar. It is evident through numerous people’s accounts about his intemperate “red-faced” tirades, his involvement in scandal (Keating 5) and Clintonesque twisting and misguiding of other people’s words makes him a sure candidate of mistrust. Although he is willing to “Maverick” his way into the populist anti-American sentiment, he is quick to show his defensive nature when legitimate accusations are made against him. America needs a President who possesses Reaganesque qualities, someone who understands when to be strong and when to hold back. These and other qualities will keep America’s foreign relations strong and ultimately keep us safe and supported.
When it comes to McCain’s willingness to fight a battle it’s easy to see that McCain would react fast and harsh after the fact; but at that point it would be too late. His terrorist “goodwill”, liberal rhetoric, and socialist thinking will enable terrorist with more abilities to carry out an attack on American soil. Our national security is at risk with John McCain in the white house.
I can’t believe this story?
McCain thinks he’s going to win MA and you are writing a story that he stands a chance here when all the polls show Romney up be more than 10 points?
