Tit for Tat
The tit for tat continues:
McCain called out Romney demanding an apology to Dole. Romney’s campaign said they tried to call Bob Dole unsuccessfully.
While this dust-up continues McCain finds himself in a tighter than expected battle for some of the Super Tuesday states while taking hits for not being conservative enough….Romney could get upset by Huckabee in some southern and midwest states. Huck is doing better than expected and it could be that the Peach state ends up in the win column for him. He also won 18 delegates in West Virginia. (see earlier post)……
This Super Tuesday delegate race could go late into night. Mccain’s hoped- for blow-out may be evaporating. In California and Missouri, Romney appears to have made up some ground.
McCain looks like a smaller winner than expected and Huckabee may be splitting a big part of self described conservatives with Romney.

McCain Endorses Huckabee!
According to reports from Fox News Channel, McCain delegates admitted they were instructed to throw their support to Huckabee when it became apparent that the voters put McCain a distant 3rd! Is this the beginning of McCain’s exit from the pursuit of the Republican Presidential Nomination?
As long as McCain takes the vote for California, I’m happy!
I just wish that we had a candidate that would have a chance to beat the democrats this year. If McCain wins…so do the dems. Where are the republican leaders…the well is dry!!!
I’m not sure, at this point, who to vote for. As a conservative Republican my choices are very limited. I just wish they would stop all the fighting. They’re sounding like the Democrats and they sound enough like them now as it is. In my 35 years of voting this is the most confusing election ever. In my opinion, NONE of them are conservative.
No on McCain
Why reward a turn coat. He should turn Democrat.
He thinks like a Dem, collaborates with Kennedy
and Feingold two of the more liberal Dems in the
Senate.
I have no use for this person.
Hey California! A vote for Mike Huckabee is a vote for Mike Huckabee!
I have never seen such duplicity, and such a lack of graciousness on the part of any candidates, as I have in this Republican primary. The media, FOX in particular, is in the tank for McCain, so much so, that any defense by Romney is called “an attack”, while McCain’s nasty, untrue repetitious lies are called “rebuttals”. The treatment Mitt Romney is getting is beyond the pale. McCain is not a “flip flopper” on immigration, in spite of the obvious turn about, but Romney has “flip flop issues”. Menawhile, Romney continues to be a gentleman, in spite of the utter nastiness of his competition. I keep hearing the questions posed to Conservative pundits; “what will it take to bring Conservatives back into the fold, once Mccain wins?” well, as a Conservative, ( non-Mormon) Christian, I can say that I dislike and mistrust McCain more now than I did before the campaign. I have competely soured on this bitter old liar, and “war hero” or not, (he has received his recompense many times over for that, and moreso that the rest of the POW’s combined!), politics corrupts, and he has proven to me that what one does “in the war” so long ago, means little to one’s character today. He feels this candidacy is owed him, that it was stolen from him eight years ago. I am a Republican who does not want to see Bob Dole II, though at least Bob Dole was a gentleman prior to disgracing himself with the Viagra commercials. Anyway, I will have a very, very difficult time voting for John McCain. I would be ashamed to call him my party’s representative.
If John McCain becomes the Republican nominee for president as a result of his dirty political manuvering, the true conservatives will face the lesser of two liberal evils in November. God help us!
Hei you Foxlies
ROMNEY!
N.DAKOTA
MINNESTOA
MONTANA
MASSACHUSETTS
UTAH
COLORADO
CALIFORNIA
ALASKA
WINNER TAKES IT ALL !
Romney win!
Bravo!
If Romney comes up short, I will never vote for McLiar. Better to pick a Dem who says they are Democratic than someone who says they are one thing and then behaves like someone else. Bank on this, I have 10 kids so I don’t pay any taxes anyway. The economy is Utah is the best in the nation, so I can afford to ride out the next four years while the Dems or wannabe Dem screws up Washington a little more. Then we will see if the Republican party has learned anything.
Remember this America. “Consequences are the result of our choices and are almost always out of our control”.
It is 9:30pm here in Arizona. I have just come home after working in my precint since 5:30am this morning. I am very angry with our County, Navajo and some irresponsible problems attributed to this county’s lack of qualified workers. I had at least 45 people who came to vote, but for some reason the county listed them as NPD (No Party Designated). These people were so upset that they could not vote. These people had registered either Republican or Democrat, but some one changed thier party affulitation. The county does not want to admit to this error. I am so very upset knowing that this no doubt happened in many precints in all the counties around Arizona. There is some terrible dishonesty going on in this years elections. There seems to be no one else that I can email or contact about this. Hope this makes sense as I am so very tired and my eyes are so very blurry.

McCain Voters start looking at the facts not the hype:
1. McCain supports gay marriage, and was involved in the McCain Savings and Loan scandal that cost taxpayers HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
Check the facts – here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five
2. If he can’t secure our borders here in Arizona – how in the world is he going to protect our country?
A vote for McCain is a vote for Hilary
We voted for Mitt Romney!
I am so concerned that people are not studying the issues. People do not know what candidates’ positions are and they are voting for a “Republican” candidate that has one position… for everything. We, as conservatives, are going to miss an opportunity to nominate a remarkably capable man in Mitt Romney because we are not reading the issues/positions for ourselves. All that people argue is that he is a flip-flopper, but his record does not bear that out. Do research people. Do research. We cannot complain about what happens in November, when we allow other people to make our decisions for us.
First off, thank you Carl for the years of reporting on national matters. You are the one reporter I have always looked to for clear and exact presentation of national issues.
Here’s my position regarding the primaries. There is an elephant in the political ring that the talking heads are not acknowledging. The liberals are drouling over the possibility of a McCain/Clinton general election because… McCain is a whack job who is likely to self destruct. Did you see him walk off to nowhere while visiting a factory with Rudy, Arnold and Fred? He wondered off from the group who had just endorsed him, withdrew one arm up his suit sleeve looking like a little boy who was hunting for a cookie. The libs are invested in Romney losing because he is viewed as formidable. Another issue not discussed is that the office of the President has become more irrelivant regarding domestic issues over the last 20 years. The president proposes and congress disposes.
Again Carl, thanks for your years of terrific reporting.

I’m telling ya, never under-estimate the power of prayer and fasting. Mike has given John a run fir his money and left Romney chokng on his dust. People are looking for honest leaders that won’t jerk the m around. They are tired of stupid negative ads that make the candidates like a bunch snot-nosed brats on a playground in a fist-fight. Time to grow up and act like adults folks. t
Get a grip on reality and keep it above board. Let’s be real and court these 18- year- old kids and their parents anf grandparents who remember a time when you just didn’t do that. Also, you BETTER be respectful of our military, retired vets and current who are fighting so you can say what you want without impunity or penalty from the government
Freedom of speech is a serious issue.Senator McCain forgot that and alienated EVERYBODY. This political coupling with Huckabee will be his saving grace.
I’ve listened to Fox News most of the night and find the commentary quite bad. Romney wins a state and we’re told it “doesn’t mean much” or “maybe it is a consolation prize.” No one really competed in NY or NJ but they are “big” wins for McCain. Huckabee limited his competition to the South, doesn’t do much anywhere else yet he has “done well.” Hey Fred Barnes: here is another conservative who won’t support McCain in the general election. If you say conservatives will unite with McCain, you are out of touch with reality.
Before I get to my comments, let me say I have meet with and talked to both John and Mitt. I even supported McCain in 2000.
I am a conservative independent from New Hampshire. I am conservative first, and therefore I feel I have the right to make this comment about a man who I have talked with. I think that John should apologize for calling himself a conservative. I have been trying to find a way to agree with John, but alas, he is a liberal on everything (including national security. This Gitmo and Patriot act.).
I don’t care if McCain wants to say he is a Republican, but I take offense to the statement that he is a conservative. If Ron Paul can claim to be a Republican, then McCain should be allowed to as well. But McCain should be treated much the same as Ron Paul in these elections and for the same reason. Both should be polling very low, and both are not Republicans. Ron Paul is a Libertarian, no matter which way you slice it. McCain is a liberal by his record and his performance.
Why are the Republican determined to destroy themselves in 2008. Give the choice between a true liberal, such as Clinton or Obama, or a fake liberal, like McCain or Huckabee, the general election should go to the true liberal. How is John McCain going to “out-liberal” a real liberal?
Further, even if McCain won by some rare miracle, It would ensure that the Republicans were blamed for every liberal failure that took place under McCain’s presidency, as well as any conservative failings. Then again, I don’t think knows were conservative is anymore. He is not the same man I supported in 2000.

YOU(fox news) cut McCain short to air Burak Husan Obama comments are you joining NBC . you could have recored him for later. Does your decision maker
choose based on race?
No Huckabee and Romney did not split the conservative vote. There are a lot of misconceptions about Huckabee and that is one of the biggest. I’m writing from Missouri and I’m writing to explain Huckabee’s near win in Missouri and broader wins tonight. I did not vote for Huckabee, but for the last few weeks, I’ve been predicting that it would boil down to Huckabee and McCain. All the while, local call-in shows have been abuzz with Romney. Having seen the social forces that drive Huckabee’s people, I was able to see beyond the many misunderstandings about what drives Huckabee’s campaign.
The most important thing to know about, Huckabee is that he’s a Creationist. While that may seem odd and perhaps mean-spirited to focus on, Creationism is a way of life here in the Bible belt. Creationism is not a philosophical debate about the point at which God got involved in the design of the universe, it is a full blown counter-cultural movement that has emerged in the Midwest. Because Creationists believe some pretty extraordinary things, they are somewhat quiet about their beliefs in public. Most Creationists, for instance, believe that dinosaurs walked the planet with men.
Huckabee addresses every campaign rally with the statement that “… governments shouldn’t be raising our kids, moms and dads should be raising our kids because moms and dads do a better job.” To a reporter stationed in New York or Washington, it may seem like an innocuous statement. It’s not. Listen to the crowd respond next time. The “government” Huckabee is talking about is the schools. Creationism is a separatist religion and for these people the public school system, and the culture at large, is an enemy because it supports the scientific method.
One of the myths about Huckabee is that his presence takes away from Romney. Nothing could be further from the case. Creationists hate Mormons. If Huckabee dropped out, the number of followers who would vote for Romney could be counted on one hand. In the Bible belt, Creationist media has grown to a point that rivals talk-radio, so you will hear about their dislike for Mormons from time to time. More often you’ll hear about the evils of the misguided sciences: Geology, Anthropopoly, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and, of course, Archeology, but you will always hear intermittent pieces about the evils of Mormonism. Since the campaign began, this talk has ramped up, of course, because a Creationist is actually running for office and he’s running against a Mormon.
This gets to the second myth about Huckabee – that he doesn’t have many resources to buy air time. Since Huckabee entered the race, Creationist radio has been beating on the evils of Mormonism and the importance of choosing the right candidate relentlessly. From stories about the violent tendancies of Mormons to diatribes about delusional beliefs, Creationist radio has launched a non-stop campaign against Mormonism for the last two months. Hank Hannagraph, the Sean Hannity of Creationism, hits the airways everyday during prime driving time, from 5 to 6 pm, every evening as “The Bible Answer Man.” This is heard throughout Missouri and all across the Bible-belt. Hannagraph relentlessly attacks Mormons on half to two thirds of his shows during the campaign season. As a religious non-profit he can’t directly attack Romney, but with this approach, he doesn’t need to.
Creationists really aren’t the same as Christians, though they do read the Bible. They are separatist by nature and many have never heard the scientific method explained in detail. Many go to Baptist colleges, where the scientific discoveries they fear are never explained or discussed. Some Creationists are stuck in technical jobs and resent the idea that others know things they don’t understand, but some are also highly educated and work in a technical process-oriented field. This second type of Creationist is often quite wealthy and Creationism seems to be their way to maintain a sense of opposition to the world despite the obvious “worldliness” of their wealth. There are, for instance a surprising number of Creationists in Missouri who are doctors.
What probably isn’t apparent from New York or Washington, is that this is a very big counter-cultural movement that is rapidly growing in the central, southern midwest. They are not overtly public about their beliefs, except on their radio networks, give the extreme nature of these views. But Creationists are a very tight knit culture and when one of their own runs, as is the case with Huckabee, they tend to view it as a sign from God, that the hoax of science is, at last, beginning to fall. They will relentlessly pursue his candidacy until all possible hope of winning falls.
Romney will do better in other states, than the Bible belt states, but Creationism is spreading to other parts of the country as well and his religion will be an insurmountable obstacle for voters who listen to Creationist radio during the campaign season.
When Romeny fades, McCain will have a bit of a tussle overcoming the relentless loyalties of Creationist volunteers, once Huckabee’s success brings in hard currency to supplement Creationist radio, but I believe he can overcome it if Huckabee’s views are challenged and explored. Outside this area of the country there simply aren’t enough converts to build the critical mass they need. But I wouldn’t rest on my laurels if I were McCain. You’d be amazed how relentless the Creationists are and how their cause has grown.
The wisest thing McCain did was to befriend Huckabees followers. They are an enemy you don’t want in Missouri politics. If the truce holds, McCain may be remembered well by Huckabee’s followers as the one politician who took them seriously. With any luck he may fold them willingly into his cause. They’d not go willingly to Romney, though, under any circumstances.
What a night!
John McCain, A Threat To Our National Security
by IM
Most conservative republicans have been worried about John McCain’s stances on fiscal, social and economic issues and how he doesn’t relate to the conservative base on those points. Although these worries are legitimate and something conservative voters must consider serious, they must also realize that this isn’t all. John McCain has not only proven bad on many conservative fiscal, social and economic issues, but is proving to be a serious threat to our nation’s security.
John McCain has touted his goodwill towards terrorist by criticizing any type of strong interrogation tactics. He has been loud in letting people know that he has heard the anti-American sentiment and feels it better to bring terrorist prisoners, awaiting questioning, onto American soil rather than have them in Cuba at Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo). He said- “I would immediately close Guantanamo Bay, move all the prisoners to Fort Leavenworth (an army base in Kansas) and truly expedite the judicial proceedings in their cases,”
Some of the interrogation tactics used at Gitmo have been dubbed as cruel and inhumane. His aggression towards those who believe such interrogation tactics are necessary is fueled by his own experiences while a POW in Vietnam. He mutters words of his horrible experiences and argues that no man should have to suffer as he did. His reasoning is much like his democrat comrades in that their ability to define torture and successful interrogation tactics is skewed. He might as well reason that war all together is wrong and the killing of terrorist is inhumane. Has killing ever been considered “humane”?
Logic tells me that when it comes to my life, my friends, my families and other American citizens lives we need to do anything and everything we can to keep our people safe! There is a difference between tearing people’s limbs off and using calculated interrogation tactics to get information. The bottom line is that we should always error on the side of preserving US citizen lives and stop worrying about how murderous terrorist are feeling in prison at Guantanamo Bay. Without successful interrogation of terrorists in prison we risk the chance of another attack and losing American citizen lives.
The other danger of John McCain is his inability to understand that in order for terrorists to attack on our borders they have to first come through our borders. Again, touting his goodwill, McCain is now infamous amongst conservatives in the know for being the author of one of the most comprehensive amnesty bills that would allow illegal non-US citizens to obtain citizenship in almost a moments notice. The danger doesn’t lie within the amnesty, but in the message that it sends to people throughout the world. The flood gates would open and there would be an immediate influx of people on all sides and borders entering the United States.
Although McCain would now argue that he believes that securing the border is what needs to be done first, this point was never highlighted until he began running for presidency while depending on the vote of conservative republicans. When asked if he would now or later support his amnesty bill he is insistent on pointing out that he believes border security first, while altogether avoiding answering the original question of whether he would still support the bill.
If and when a terrorist attack occurs it wouldn’t be unwise to suggest that it will be in large part because of our weak border policies and our inability to curb a problem that has been past due for decades. John McCain stands in the way of stopping this problem and national security threat by holding strong to the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill. Amnesty rhetoric only fuels the problem and increases the chance of such attacks happening on American soil.
As outrageous as this may sound, John McCain wants to join the international criminal court (ICC) so that foreigners can try our soldiers and people as war criminals. Not only does this sound like a conspiracy and something that would get out of hand, but it is something that would enable other countries part of the ICC to have power and control over US citizens leading to politically motivated charges. Our conservative values state that we need to reduce government and the control government has over our lives, as this will eventually lead to a socialist/communist style of government. This type of Clintonesque political speak is something that is encouraging to terrorists giving them hope and a sense of welcome into scrutinizing our western civilized ways. By joining ICC we are essentially dividing this nation rather than uniting it and creating a bureaucracy for terrorists to use as a platform.
Part of our ability to stay safe in this world has to do with our ability to establish allies and have good working relations with other countries. We need to have someone who is a diplomat and understands how to work with people from all walks of life, even when the situation gets tense and heated. The ability to act as a diplomat and win over leaders of other countries has in large part to do with our Presidents personality, temperament and interpersonal relations with leaders of other countries. This must be done through persuasion and trust. This can only be achieved through having a record showing honesty, integrity and temperance when dealing with other people. John McCain’s record in politics and in his interpersonal relations has been less than stellar. It is evident through numerous people’s accounts about his intemperate “red-faced” tirades, his involvement in scandal (Keating 5) and Clintonesque twisting and misguiding of other people’s words makes him a sure candidate of mistrust. Although he is willing to “Maverick” his way into the populist anti-American sentiment, he is quick to show his defensive nature when legitimate accusations are made against him. America needs a President who possesses Reaganesque qualities, someone who understands when to be strong and when to hold back. These and other qualities will keep America’s foreign relations strong and ultimately keep us safe and supported.
When it comes to McCain’s willingness to fight a battle it’s easy to see that McCain would react fast and harsh after the fact; but at that point it would be too late. His terrorist “goodwill”, liberal rhetoric, and socialist thinking will enable terrorist with more abilities to carry out an attack on American soil. Our national security is at risk with John McCain in the white house.
FOX, McCain is not for me. He is a liberal registered as a Republican. I am a Cuban-American and a very conservative Republican, who on November will stay home and will not vote if Sen. McCain is the candidate.
Do not vote for McCain!

I have never been more disgusted with the front runner for the Republican Party than I am now. McCain is a Dem wrapped in Republican clothing. I, like many others, fault the media. especially FOX, for trashing Romney. I expect such treatment from other media sources. It is disheartening to discover that noble ambition and a profound respect for family values count for nothing in this country.

Fox News always prides itself on being FAIR AND BALANCED. I guess Rupert Murdoch and his network could not scrape together enough money to send someone with a camera to the CPAC conference to cover Mike Huckabee today. Where is their video? A short visit to the Fox news.com website and there is NONE to be seen. But hey….at least they are telling us about PARIS HILTON going on the record and also about the travelling sex show at DUKE. Thank God you are sooooooo fair. How could our republic survive if we didnt get the latest scoop on Paris Hilton. Whats the matter Fox, is the the only person left with your kind of WALL STREET money now that Captain Pander Willard Romney is out of the race?
Maybe you can ask Paris if she thinks Romney pushing gay marriage is a good idea. After all, Rupert UK outlets update her every move when she hits a lesbian club in UK.
Just remember Fox, we Christian Right Huckabee voters plan to give the GOP nominee all the fairness and support you have given us. haha.
