How McCain did it.
When McCain imploded in August of 07, the campaign knew the Petraeus report would be positive and come out after labor day – they regrouped, back timed, and bet everything on a New Hampshire win that would launch McCain through South Carolina and Florida to Super Tuesday…in a flash.
Throughout 07 McCain escaped serious scrutiny from conservatives for three reasons;
1) Romney was leading in Iowa and New Hampshire
2) Giuliani was leading the national polls
3) Fred Thompson held early promise.
Conservative McCain opponents never took him seriously.
McCain’s team of Rick Davis, Mark Salter, Charlie Black, Steve Schmidt, Mark McKinnon, Jill Hazelbaker, among others have focused the Senator as never before. The undisciplined rhetorical wounds McCain is known for self inflicting have been all but absent. McCain complimented Huckabee and Romney tonight. Throughout this campaign McCain has shown almost no hint of the vindictive temper often referred to by his critics.
Super Tuesday was easy – they didn’t have much time or money to make too many strategic or tactical decisions. They focused their momentum on the big winner take all states. Schmidt helped sew up (his old boss) Schwarzenegger’s endorsement for Cahl-eee-for-nya. They made a big show of reaching out to conservative critics, with McCain making many personal calls. They did robocalls and radio and TV ads. Endorsements by Rudy and dozens of newspapers across the country helped, as did the fact that the story has not yet resurfaced about McCain hiring Washington super lawyer Bob Bennett amid talk of an ethics allegation.
McCain must continue to persuade conservatives. His remarks in Arizona Tuesday night were aimed right at the right:
“I am a Republican because, like you, I want to relieve the American people of the heavy hand of a government that spends too much of your money on things you neither want nor need, while failing to do as well as we should the things none of us can do individually. I am a Republican because, like you, I believe government must defend our nation’s security wisely and effectively, because the cost of our defense is measured in losses so hard to bear and in the heartbreak of so many families.
“I am a Republican because, like you, I believe government must respect our values because they are the true source of our strength; and enforce the rule of law, which is the first defense of freedom. I am a Republican because I believe the judges we appoint to the federal bench must understand that enforcing our laws, not making them, is their only responsibility. I am a Republican because I believe, like you, that government should tax us no more than necessary, spend no more than necessary, and keep out of the way of the most industrious, ingenious, and optimistic people in the history of the world.
“I am a Republican because I believe, like you, that it is the strength, courage, wisdom and patriotism of free people — not the government — who have made this country the extraordinarily successful place it is. My friends, my purpose is to preserve and strengthen our freedom, the freedom I have defended all my adult life, and I will not let anyone or anything deter me.” -John McCain
Next stop CPAC in Washington. As we reported earlier this week; McCain has a golden opportunity to make pledges and mend fences. It will take a helluva speech. It could be a chilly reception.
It’s also a great opportunity for Romney to make his conservative case against McCain and for Huckabee to make his case with an audience that is likely to give him a very warm reception.

With McCain’s nomination pretty much assured now, the faster conservatives get back together, the better it will be for the Republican party as a whole.
McCain is a big fat liar. Ive seen some pretty shady tactics, but his so far these past two weeks have been clintonian and ridiculous. Romney’s comments about Dole had absolutely nothing to do with Dole being a veteran. Just because you fought in a war or know how to lead troops, doesnt mean you know how to lead a country or make sound policies. He is definitely not a conservative republican. Heck, didnt he think about going independent or democrat in 2001? This guy makes me want to vote libertarian.

McCain hasn’t won yet. He does not have anywhere near enough to clench the nomination. If you look at the states he won in and then compare the Democrat and Republican voters in each you’ll note that McCain did not win a single state that he can carry in November.
If Americans are smart they’ll stop listening to John McCain’s campaign words and go and examine his work of the last decade. John McCain has spent the better part of the last decade stomping on the Constitution and your rights. As President he would be a disaster, you wouldn’t get secure borders you’d get an open border, as a Senator he didn’t give you the wall in 1986 and not in 2006. He simply will not do it so if you want National Defense, if you believe in American Sovereignty move on and look at the other three candidates.
If you want strong families, look at the candidates who have had strong family lives. Huckabee, Romney and Paul have all been married to the same woman their entire adult lives. They get along well with their children where they have them. John McCain on the other hand was an adulterer and womanizer after he returned from Vietnam. His first wife, Carol, was disabled in a car accident while he was a POW yet she waited for him to return with their children. Yet when he returned home John stuck his nose at her disabilities and started dating whatever skirt happened by until he found a rich aspiring model named Cindy, then he left his faithful wife and married her in a month.
This man is not conservative, he would be a disaster.

Bob Dole (at 73) was constantly labeled too old to run against Bill Clinton in 1996 and age is NEVER mentioned (at least yet) as a factor with McCain who’s 72. John McCain’s candidacy was dead and buried until a few weeks before the NH primary due to incompetent staff, mismanagement and lack of money. McCain himself admits that he’s not well versed on economics…and voters are somehow convinced that this man can oversee the country’s economy better than a highly successful private sector businessman like Mitt Romney?
Strip away McCain’s 40 year ago military experience, which we’re NEVER allowed to forget about or question (it’s just about ALL he ever references in speeches and debates no matter what question he’s asked), and you have nothing but a tired, old, empty suited, Washington, D.C. political hack/insider. He is an extremely weak candidate and a terrible debater by every account, especially compared to Mitt Romney (or even Huckabee).
Without the assistance of his “Canes” propping him up during this farce of a campaign, John McCain candidacy would still be dead and buried. Day after day, the canes come out of the political woodwork to endorse ol’ RINO (Republican In Name Only) Johnny.
MCCAIN’S CANE # 1…the Liberal biased Main Stream Media and Press. With orgasmic puff story after puff story, it resurrected McCain from the dead, elevating him to frontrunner status just in time for the election.
MCCAIN’S CANE # 2…Independent and Democrat voters, who, for some bizarre reason, are allowed to vote in the REPUBLICAN primaries. I’d LOVE to meet the rocket scientists in those states who allow THAT to happen.
In Florida, Mitt Romney was gathering tremendous momentum and soaring in the polls until the weekend before the election.
MCCAIN’S CANE # 3…Florida Governor Crist who endorsed McCain just TWO days before the election.. Unfortunately, it was enough to convince a woefully uninformed voting public to vote for McCain and against Romney who was soaring in the polls until that moment. While this was bad enough, the fact that so many thousands of Floridians had to be TOLD who to vote just TWO days before such an important election was despicable, shameful, if not downright scary. CRIST IS ALSO A RINO!
MCCAIN’S CANE # 4…Rudy Guiliani, who ends his “campaign” with an endorsement of, who else but John McCain hours before the California debate. Even with THAT, McCain who always been a terrible debater, was crushed by Mitt Romney at every turn…imagine what Obama would to to him? GUILIANI IS ALSO A RINO!
MCCAIN’S CANE # 5…California Governor, Arnold Schwartzenager who now is endorsing old Johnny just before the Super Tuesday primaries. THE BIGGEST RINO OF THEM ALL!
If John McCain is the Republican nominee (heaven forbid), it will be done SOLELY with his the assistance of his canes and without them he is nearly helpless and will be easily defeated by either Hillary Clinton or upstart Barack Hussein Obama.
Mitt Romney is by far the most qualified man in EITHER party and is a class act all the way. And yet since he became a GOP candidate for president, I have seen nothing but negative, trivial articles/stories about his Mormon religion, his money, his slick appearance, etc, all fully intended to sway a naive electorate that pays far too little attention to the most important 4 year event in our country.
Mitt Romney is a TRUE family man and very successful at turning failed or failing enterprises around and Lord knows the United States of America needs turning around. It should be run as a business first, with a strong military to protect it from harm. All other social, giveaway programs should be scrutinized (and certainly would be under a Romney presidency) as to efficiency and even necessity. The fact that he was even elected Governor in a state (MA) controlled by 85% Democrat legislature was a feat in itself. In spite of it, he did a very admirable job as Governor, turning a large state deficit into a surplus. Of course, his 150+ justified vetoes were constantly overturned by those same Socialist Democrats.
If Mitt Romney does get the GOP nomination it will be MUCH to the chagrin of the Democrat National Committee liberal propaganda machine because he will be their worst nightmare and most difficult to defeat…Obama, Clinton, or otherwise.
John McCain’s time has long since come and gone and it has become more than obvious during this primary campaign that he doesn’t even have the ability to WALK up the White House “stairs” without his “Canes”, let alone RUN the biggest economy and country in the world.
A vote for RINO (Republican In Name Only) John McCain is a vote for the following:
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy).
SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants.
TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter).
RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit.
ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it.
1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold).
2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA.
ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work.
GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers.
JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges; also said Alito was too conservative for his liking.

Can anyone tell me if Huckabee really won 5 states as “Huckabee” or did he win them as “McCain”????? Just curious which of the two professed conservatives really won? I know that West Virginia was a McCain win (even though it is under Huckabee’s name)…how about the others?
The next time we hear a “state of the union” speech it will either be President Obama or President Clinton speaking. I hope all you McAmnesty/Huckster voters enjoy seeing our country destroyed.

I did not vote for McCain becuase I view him as just another inside-the-beltway, business as usual Republican. 25 years in DC is not a plus. The country needs fresh inovative thinking and action non deal-making with Kennedy types.
Oddly, is aged Mother was right. It looks like we are going to have to “hold our nose” and
accept him in which case Conservatives will back him over any choice the Dems select.
He at least knows that the Euro model that Hilary wants will be fiscally impossible and philosophically repugnant for our Country to digest. He may be able to defeat Hilary because in the final days voters will be completely clear how divisive and polorizing she is. (Obama is a

Mitt is the only candidate in the Republican race that can hold his head high based on his performance, behavior and responses to the dishonest ones he is up against. Mitt responds rather than reacting. To respond is POSITIVE, to react is NEGATIVE. McCain and Huckabee both react negatively to Mitt, which in and of itself is evidence of their personal character. Those supporting the dishonesty of McCain or Huckabee will be sorry in November if either are the nominee.
Maybe the real question is not “HOW”, but “WHY” McCain did it?
Based on the trick he pulled in West Virginia, it wouldn’t surprise me if he is simply running so his great friend Hillary Clinton has a better chance of getting into the White House. I do believe one thing that Senator McCain says, I do believe he wants to be President at any cost. He is an angry, bitter old man who wants to stick it to the GOP for his defeat by Bush in 2000. He does not need to abandon Republican principles , as for the last 7 years he has shown he has none. I will not vote for Mc Cain, I will not donate to the RNC, I am staying home this November. The party of Ronald Reagan is a party of free thinkers, y’all do what your conscience tells you to, I’m staying home.
It’s sickening that McCain should be expected to “mend fences” with anybody. I look to this election as the death-knell of the uber-conservative religious Right. The fact that they feel McCain owes them an apology for his Senate record shows how marginalized and irrelevant they really are.
It seems to me that conservatives and the Republican Party are in deep trouble now. The vote was split between Huckabee and Romney at a crucial time and McCain slipped into an undeserved commanding lead that will be very difficult to reverse.
It’s highly doubtful that McCain will be able to unite the party. And there’s no chance whatsoever that he will be able to successfully debate either Hillary or Obama. He just doesn’t have the smarts or the whole-hearted groundswell support of Republicans.
Even if he had a chance, McCain owes too many favors to his liberal supporters to be able to make any meaningful change in Washington. And when did loyalty to his party mean anything to McCain anyway?
The only hope at this time seems to be if Romney and Huckabee make an alliance of some kind with one lending his support to the other. Romney has more delegates and won more states than Huckabee last night, but it’s highly doubtful that Huckabee would be honorable enough to back down in the interests of conservatives.
My personal vote is for Mitt Romney. He’s the only one with the intellect, the experience, and the means to defeat the far left leaning Clintons and Obama Kennedys and bring real change to Washington.
The media will turn against McCain once the nomination is closed. He’s only their darling for a time because he’s the right’s weakest link and has 25 years of dubious political and personal garbage for reporters to gleefully hang out when the time is right.
Maybe before the nomination is closed hot-headed McCain will pull a public blunder that the media just can’t ignore, and the word will get out to the people – ALL the people – that he’s not presidential material!

You have proved the television and radio talking heads wrong once again.
Most polls showed you behind in just about every state. They said you
had no chance, that you should give up. But you won!
If not for Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, Mike Huckabee would
have won many more states than he has so far. He has done well inspite
of the vicious one sided attacks against him. The fact is if not for Rush
Limbaugh and Sean Hannity Mike Huckabee would be the front runner
right now. Instead what we have is John McCain leading, a good man
but one of the more moderates of all the candidates running. If Sean and
Rush would have just sat back and let the people decide or at least be fair
and balanced in there attacks, present both sides of the story, then the
Republican party would be in much better shape today. I have
been a great supporter of Rush and Sean for years. I am a staunch
conservative, but they have dissappointed me greatly. To call Mike Huckabee
a liberal is akin to slander. Yet they gave Mitt Romney, a person with one
of the most liberal records of any candidate running, Democrat or
Republican, a free ride. To Rush and Sean all I can say is you made your
bed now lie in it! You have no one to blame but yourselves.

Should McCain win the nomination. I think the Mormons in Utah should vote for the Democrats in the presidental race. This would send a message to McCain for lying about Mitts position on Iraq in order to win Fl and to the Southern Baptists whose anti-mormon hatred cost Mitt in southern states. We need to be a party of tolerance of religion and change for the better and McCain is more of the same. He has betrayed his party and I am sure he will say the right things now but wait until he is in office. He will betray those republicans who voted for him as he has done in the past.
Conservatives should rise and be heard on election day when those politicians who endorsed McCain are up for reelection. The party is leaving us conservatives behind and it is a sad day. The only way to cure it is to vote out the liberal RINOs.
Fox News has also played a part by contiuosly discounting Mitts wins and never calling him the frontrunnere when he lead in deleagates until FL. They called McCain the only electable canidate (Britt Hume and Mr. Crystal have been the worst). They have caused a fear factor that if we vote for Romney that he can’t win the election. This is flatly false. First of all the states that are heavily republican will be so inn the Nov election regardless of who wins. It then comes down to OH, FL as usual. The difference for Romeny is he can acutally win Mass he was eleceted Gov in a liberal state and is popular there. Winning Mass would tip the scales in the 08 election in Romenys favor he could lose OH and still win.
I am so sick and tired of the news agencies and McCain himself misusing the word “conservative”. McCain is only slightly less liberal than Clinton or Obama and he does NOT in any way, shape or form, represent the true conservative. And, judging by the lemming-like lock-step that Republicans are engaging behind McCain, it appears that the Republican Party has been taken over by ignorant “wanna be on the winning team” types rather than truly conservative thinkers. McCain disgusts me. He is a milktoast candidate who caters to the lukewarm. Whether he wins or Clinton or Obama wins, we will have completely liberal ownership of the government in the next election. I would dearly love to take McCain on in a REAL debate. Not a single candidate has been bold enough or solid enough in conservative philosophy to put McCain in his place. John McCain talks a good talk but walks a different walk. As a Republican for the better part of my life,(I am a reformed Democrat),I will support him if he is the nominee albeit with great great reservations. The only reason that I could give him my vote will be that he is slightly better than the alternitive. McCain has a real mean streak, and resentment that he lost to George Bush has festered in his soul for seven years. If he had given Bush the support that he needed badly instead of undercutting him at every opportunity things would look a lot different in Iraq today than they do. I wonder how his good buddies on the other side of the aisle will support him as President. In a preverse way, he should sit in that “hot seat” and see how comfortable it is.

I’m a former Democrat now registered as an independent who has voted Republican as of late. However, I’ve become so turned off by the nasty comments coming from the conservative talk show hosts that I might go Democrat in November. The hypocracy of Rush and Hannity is obvious. They quote President Reagan as they bash McCain and Huckabee. Wasn’t Reagan’s golden rule to never talk badly about another Republican.?.? Perhaps the Republicans now have their own “Bubba” Clinton.

From what I have heard his actual record seems to have been all over the place, blowing with the prevailing winds. I absolutely disdain John McCain and Mike Huckabee! They are the largest pieces of political sh*t I’ve ever seen. I will not bring myself to voting for another George W. Bush who is all about the all mighty dollar and done nothing of significant value in almost 8 years except put us into a war we should have never been in. McCain is only a Republican now because Jeffords beat him to the jump to the other side a few years back. I havent forgotten that, and the only way he will ever get the conservative vote is in a general election (as we hold our collective noses).
I have never missed voting in an election, but this will be the first general election in my life where the choice will be between a liberal Democrat and a moderate Democrat.
Lets get this straight. McCain only has a sizable lead because he won all the winner-take-all states. If everything was proportional (the way it should be), this would be a different race. Huckabee would actually be farther back since he didnt even get in double digits in the NE. Also, McCain is basically winning all the blue states in the general election. How’s that going to help him. This is all a set up! Most of these states went to winner-take-all to help Rudy or McCain.
I think it’s a given that unless Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney make a deal to defeat John McCain, or hot-headed McCain makes an unforgiveable public blunder, that McCain will be the Republican nominee.
I also think it’s a given that McCain cannot possibly beat Hillary or Obama in the general election. He doesn’t have the smarts or the swelling grassroots backing of Republican conservatives, and he never will. That’s why he’s the temporary darling of liberals and the media – he’s the right’s weakest link.
I think most conservatives will give up and stay home if McCain is their party’s flag bearer. The election will be a sweep for the Democrats. Liberal justices and judges will be appointed, our country may go largely undefended, taxes will be raised, and god-fearing Americans will suffer as the far left ACLU/Moveon elitists who hijacked the Democratic Party force their extreme notions on the people.
For all it’s worth, this is the way I see it.
Even if he backs McCain against Romney, if McCain cannot win the general election against the far more brilliant, far better backed Democrat nominee, then Huckabee and his supporters get nothing.
Huckabee should know that, his religious base should know that, and they should know that America is at a crossroads with the momentum leaning very heavily towards the left.
To me it’s plainly evident that if McCain is the Republican nominee America will see a third term for the Clinton’s, or a silver-tongued USA president with a Muslim name who as a child attended the very schools in which it is believed our enemies are indoctrinated.
I believe that it is essential to conservative Americans that Romney and Huckabee make an alliance to defeat McCain, or that one of them do the right thing for America and drop out of the race to give the other a chance at the nomination.
Romney and Huckabee are both good living family men who could represent the conservative god-fearing cause. The question for conservatives is:
Which candidate is best qualified and most likely to beat McCain and the Democrats?
Here are a few reasons why I am personally swayed towards Romney:
- He already has more delegates than Huckabee and won more states than Huckabee did.
- Much of Huckabee’s support came from his religious base. Most of the strong evangelical states have already been counted.
- Conservatives are coalescing behind Governor Romney. Nationally he won conservatives by double digits over McCain. Huckabee underperformed in every state that didn’t have a strong base of evangelicals, even losing to Ron Paul in five of those states.
- The remaining primary and caucus states are much stronger for Romney than for Huckabee.
I understand strong religious fervor and allegiance. But we’re electing the leader of the highest TEMPORAL office in the free world, not a pastor or church leader.
Dr. Romney graduated among the top 5% of his class at the prestigious Harvard Business and Law Schools. Only Romney and 14 other of his 550 cream-of-the-cream Harvard classmates got their Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in the combined MBA/JD program. He’s extremely bright and has the proven experience, the knowledge, and the WILL to take on the insider Washington politician/lawyers.
It’s more important to know how America works than how Washington works. Dr. Romney knows how America works, he had his hands on its economic pulse for 25 years!
Romney took only one dollar as salary for turning around the Olympics. He took no salary for his service as a state Governor. He voluntarily served thousands of hours helping members of the church he has chosen to affiliate with.
Compare Governor Romney’s brilliant intellect, his record of selfless service to others, and his incredible achievements in finance, business, and government with John McCain’s graduation at the bottom 5% of his military class, his one time leadership experience as commander of one military base for one year, his dismal “maverick” performance as a senator, his hair-trigger temper, his arrogance towards conservatives, and his lifelong reliance on the public purse for his livelihood.
Decide for yourself who’s best prepared to defeat McCain and the Democrats, and to be leader of the free world, a champion to defend the cause of god-fearing conservative grassroots Americans.

Look at McCain’s loyalty. While in Vietnam prison camps his model wife raised their three kids alone. She was in a terrible car accident that left her handicapped. John returned home had several affairs and finally divorced her, getting remarried to his current wife a month later. Hmmm? Then it was her family’s money that launched his political career. Brilliant political move…as long as you have no compassion, loyalty or honor. Yes, his previous wife is supportive of him. She has to be. He takes care of her financially, where she has no other means to do so.
The same buy out just happened with Giuliani, who will get a big position in McCain’s administration. How about West Virginia? All of the McCain voters were “instructed” to go to Hucabee. Now how about Hucabee himself.? Claims to be running for president, but has not gone head to head with the leader one time. More back office politics?? Pawn more accurately describes him. Again, brilliant politics, as long as you have no loyalty, morals or honor. Reminds me of another brilliant politician, Bill Clinton.

I am part of the conservative base. I am an evangical. About a month ago, I took a test online by a local tv station on my views on 20 issues. I found I was right of Ducan Hunter. Prior to that test, I was a Guiliana supporter based upon his changes to NYC during his period as Mayor. The test showed MCCain and Huckjabee as moderately conservative and Guilina as quite liberal. Guilini was also not campaigning. I like McCain style of spending time in town hall meetings answering evey question. That is quite humble. He connects with people. From the show me state, Romney comes across as a rich northeastern liberal that switched positions and is too slick. Not a true conservative. Huckabee comes across as a preacher, who wants to be a politician, with populist positions on the economy. To me, that does not sell nationwide. I like McCains straight talk express. I like his conviction on issues. To me, I want the Republicans to win and McCain has the best shot. Most of all, I want someone who can gets issues done for the people of America and can work with both sides. I cannot emphasize that more. Obama says the same. I also have a friend who is a Reagan Democrat. She places a strong empasis on watching spending in Washington and lower taxes. McCain is very strong here too. Now for me to walk away from voting for a Republican, my litmus test is “Strict constructionists”. Guilini was wise to say that upfront. McCain needs to emphasize the same. Next POTUS picks 2-4 Supreme court judges. This is the 4th Quarter of the superbowl and on the one yard line and 4th down. Need someone to both win and pick such judges and push through Dem senate. Much big deal! If McCain picks Liberman as VP candidate, then even more popular and more likely to win. That would have some conservatives to roll over in grave. Not me. He would be unstoppable. For all republicans, choice comes down to either: 1) holding on to ones personal pride (not a good thing), or 2) picking a winner in fall who carries the conservative issues across the goal line (supreme court judges, fiscal conservative, low taxes, pro business, strong on war on terroism). Think!
I think everyone ought to know the facts.
Facts… Romney has won 9 states, over 260 delegates and spoiled Huck from getting wins in two states. He also got 4,038,202 votes compared to Huck who has won 6 states (Which one was stolen from MITT), has 190 delegates, spoiled MITT from winning in 7 states and had 245,5178 total votes. In these states, Huck finished 3 or 4th.
Now compare that to McCain who has 4,875,621 total votes.
Who should have dropped out for the good of the conservative party?????

It is indeed a sad day that we must inform the people of the world of the death of a beloved grand old matriarch. We hesitate to tell only because many of her immediate family have not been informed of her untimely demise. Several attempts have been made to inform them but to no avail.
She was conceived with love and honor and with the sanction of God above. She was reported to have always represented all that was good and was said to be a beautiful, feisty, independent soul with a constitution as solid as a rock. Many testified she was a God fearing soul who taught the people she loved how to appreciate their God given rights.
It seems an unidentified illness crept into her life and slowly sapped away her vitality and much cherished freedom. She eventually found herself confined in her last moments and she slipped away while family watched in disbelief.
Imagine their dismay when the illness was diagnosed as a well known disease, the effects of which could easily have been reversed if the symtoms had been recognized by attentive healers.
America – She will continue to live on in the minds and hearts of the people who cherished and cared for her.

The TV media following in love with him and not holding him accountable is “How He Did It” We report, you decide is a joke, I started tuning to CNN to try and get some balanced coverage. For some unknown reasons you, like most of the reporters covering the republican race having forgotten what John McCain has stood for over the years (look at his voting record) and most of you have become his biggest fans. He has demonstrated that he will say anything, do anything, unjustly attach anyone and join any party if he believes that it will land him in the Whitehouse. To stand up and say “I am a republican” doesn’t make it so!
I spent 20 years in the army and was awarded two bronze stars for valor in combat (that doesn’t make me a McCain supporter or a hero) and have been a supporter of the Republican Party all my adult life. However John McCain is not someone I can vote for and if you would review his recorded you might agree with me. I state this not because of what you , the other reporters or even John McCain would like for me to belive, I say I won’t vote for him because his record showes me he is not a republican!
Huckabee and Romney need to figure out who is the most electable in the general election and one or the other needs to drop out. They need to do it for the sake of our party and should agree whomever drops out gets the VP slot.
This is critical in that by pulling votes from each other, McCain will continue to dominate and ultimately allow the Liberals to have two nominees for President. Yes I said Liberals, as John McCain is a liberal and unlike some I don’t even believe he’s trying to hide it. I beleive he changed his positions after his defeat back in 2000 knowing he could never be elected as a Republican. So he started working on both sides of the isle hoping that when his chance came (2008) he could pull votes from Independents, Dems, and moderate Reps.
Unfortunately, it worked but only because we have two candidates Huckabee and Romney who continue to battle for the true consevative votes. These two guys are potentially bringing us to a point in our history where the Congress, Senate, and White House will be controlled by the Dems and we all know what that means.
They need to wake up and consider what’s best for our party, reconcile their differences, and find a way to defeat McCain!

James Madison, the fourth president, known as ‘The Father of Our Constitution’ made the following statement:

I believe that today is the day that the Leaders of this world begin to hold themselves accountable to their Creator and the souls of men under their care.
In addition, it seems self evident to me that we the People of America should realize it is time to deal with the heart of America’s problems verses its symptoms. For more than 4 decades now, we have allowed big corporations, special interest groups, political ideology, governmental regulation and excessive litigation to tear down this once great Nation to become the epitome of lust and greed. The deception on our part is thinking that our Government can fix the economy and social issues of this Nation by simply electing a new President. We must realize that America’s problems are systemic in nature that requires our elected Politicians to become the true leaders that will return America to its fundamental belief of “Government of the people, by the people and for the people”.
Ask yourself how often you hear these phrases; “You do not qualify!”, “That is a pre-existing condition!”, or “That is not covered!” These are common phrases used by our government, judicial and insurance systems to deny American’s their right to the benefits afforded to us in the Constitution of America, by law or purchased in the insurance policies that regulate every aspect of American life. Couple this with frivolous law suits, excessive settlements, inept governmental response, slow reimbursement and fear of imprisonment for governmental fraud has crippled this Nation.
The fact is, “We no longer have the independence or freedom to experience the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator.”
What seems self-evident to me is that our society has slipped into a very perilous time where wickedness, corruption and violence permeate throughout all aspects of American life. The fundamental beliefs of America have little to no effect on the true nature of our lives today.
Ask yourself;
1. What are the long-term effects of changing the true meaning of “The separation of Church and State?” – Lost of Our Liberty and Freedom
2. What are the long-term effects of a legal system with no justice? – Human suffering, Lawlessness and Violence
3. What are the long-term effects of corporate and governmental greed and corruption? – Financial Collapse
4. What are the long-term effects of a government without leadership? – Oppression and Lawlessness
When was the last time you walked the streets to see what has happened to the Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness or Property in America? My family is suffering great loss from the oppression of governmental services that lack the compassion to serve the needy and injustice of rogue Judges who choose to uphold their agendas verses the precedence of Law and health care & insurance industry that put profits before the care of individuals.
The issues that we face are more systematic than individual, meaning no one individual like a new President will ever change the very Heart of America today. Our Founding Fathers had it right with their belief that the self-evident truth that all men are created equal and they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.
It is self-evident that our government (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) has failed to uphold their sworn oath to defend the Constitution so help them God!

It is time for the members of the ultra-conservative part of the republican party to decide if they still want to be a part. While every segment of the party has the right to debate and advocate for the candidate of their choice, I refuse to accept threats made from within our own party. No one segment is more important than another. It is only when we are united that we can influence the direction that our country will take.
1. Sen. McCain has publically stated he is for making the Bush tax cuts permanent.
2. Unlike other candidates, he has and continues to call for accountability in government spending.
3. He has always been pro-life.
4. While we may not like his approach on immigration reform, upon closer scrutiny, it is the only realistic option.
5. He has proven that he is the leader on national security. He spoke up regardless of political consequence even when members of the conservative segment where politicing for timetables for withdrawal.
6. His commitment to this country is unquestionable. We know his own personal sacrifices, but he also has a son serving in Iraq, and another attending the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.
If the ultra-conservative segment of the party can’t find their way to supporting this principaled leader and hero, well then maybe it is time we move to a three party system.

McCain did it by doing shady backroom deals with the other candidates. It seems that the career politicians have all worked out some kind of deal with McCain. You have to wonder how many FAVORS he owes his cronies in Washington. Do we really want a president that constatly cuts dirty backroom deals and owes something to pretty much everyone in Washington.

There are other parties besides the Republicans and Democrats. Most of them never covered by the mainstream media. I’m pretty sure the Constitution party will have a conservative candidate, who I’ll gladly vote for.
In fact that’s something of a dream of mine to break the Republican/Democrat chokehold. We need a third party to come in and swoop up some electoral votes.
I urge all Conservatives to consider other parties and look at their candidates, sadly they don’t decide until April for the Constitution party so we won’t know til then who they put forth. If they are more in line with your ideals then vote for them. Don’t accept to vote for McCain even if it means Hillary gets the election in 2008. The important thing is that we need to send a message that we will not be used, and staying home will not do that. If we bleed enough votes from the Republicans we might can actually do some greater good for our nation in the long term.
With the word on Fox being that Mitt Romney is dropping out of the race. This is a very sad day for me but unfortunately for McCain and the Huckster this changes NOTHING! There is only one way I could every vote for McCain is if Romney were his Vice President–and I can’t see someone who has lied over and over about him, that Romney would accept than. THERE WILL BE NO MCCAIN VOTE FROM ME–I WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR PRESIDENT IN NOVERMBER! McCain has shoved his arrogance in my face for the last time!

Actually, I think that there is more going on here. Yes. We were too late in pointing out how horrible a Republican McCain is. After all, if one’s position on the war is the main criteria, then Lieberman is just as strong.
But there’s more here. McCain got a big boost from Democrats and liberals who would rather see him against either Hillary OR Obama. This support includes the editorial endorsements by left-leaning media. In addition, the theory that McCain was the only one who could beat Hillary was a red herring thrown out to scare Republicans into voting for him despite how little we like his policies and behavior. This is turn will lead to an unenthusiastic Republican voting base in November and weakens the threat against the Democratic challenger.
Who will McCain go up against? Obama. Why? Because even the Democratic party is sick of Hillary and Bill. Obama represents a fresh optimism (absent the taint of experience or seasoning whatsoever) that could put a nice patina on the Democratic party (and socialism) for years. Bonus: A cranky old white guy grumbling about how he was a POW years ago and how he will not act as he has on positions for the last 20 years will not prevail over the nice looking, young, intelligent-sounding African-American. Even a cranky old white woman can’t beat THAT.

I was astonished when Steve Forbes, who is affiliated with the conservative Heritage Foundation, endorsed McCain.
I made some inquiries and was told that Forbes was supporting Giuliani and when Giuliani dropped out he insisted that his supporters back McCain.
Just another example of how to jab grassroots conservatives. Forbes must have known the heart of the GOP was pulsing for Romney.
I personally think that if McCain would quickly announce that Romney’s his running mate it would solidify the party and give us a chance in the national election.
Paul and Huckabee need to drop out right away so we can get to work defeating the Dems. It was noble of Romney to suspend his campaign for his party and America.

This is very frustrating and troubling. The Republican establishment wants me to disregard McCain’s previous actions and against my principles; throw out my principles and while crossing my fingers to vote for McCain. This establishment should not have done all these back room deals to put me in this position – If i didn’t have principles i would be a democrate.
Now that the republican voters have bought into this backroom deal and have taken the news media’s line that McCain is the only one to beat Hillary or Obama. You had better get ready for the next 10 or 11 months of hearing how McCain is not right for the Oval office because: he is to old!, he flip-flopped on this and that issue, he can’t even control his own party how would he control the Whitehouse, etc. Just a note wasn’t the last Senator to get elected president – John Kennedy? That was only after the democrats stole the election in Chicago and other major cities!
Of all the candidates in the republican party, we do know that John enjoys the backroom deals where he can come tell the news media how he can comprise and join the democrats. So i would expect that he would continue this in a big way…….
I would like to state at this point that the pool of nomimees that came forward was very shallow and regardless of who was the nominee this year the question below would have been present.
I believe the only decision i have is to determine if it is in the best interest of my country to have the Republican party (via a Republican president in name only) provide cover for the Socialist in Congress as they take our country to a Socialist state or have the democrats take the full pressure for the destruction they are forcing on this country.

I am truly disappointed in what the Primary process has become. With the help of the Media, it has resulted in the stifling of the American voice. The Primary process provides (or used to provide) the opportunity for Americans to declare their preference for leaders and identify important issues to be addressed.
Any one who believes they have a vision for this nation coupled with the ability to effect that vision is encouraged to stand up and take the challenge. Their message and position on issues to be compared and contrasted to the other candidates.
Unfortunately, it has been reduced to a contest of pandering and slandering with the emphasis on discrediting others rather than promoting one’s personal ideals and convictions. The main focus has become the elimination of a candidate’s vision rather than the earnest debate over what the nation needs to address to ensure its strength.
The fact that current ‘Leaders’ who would call upon those candidates that are not the Front Runner, or the most popular, or the most ‘electable’ to step down for the sake of the ‘Party’, or to unify the ‘Party’ is most detestable. It is a very violation of the ideals of this nation. Governor Perry, the most recent violator, should be ashamed of himself. As should any other leader, or media/political commentator.
Any candidate, great or small that has the courage to stand up be counted should have the opportunity to be heard and judged by the People, and be minimized or excused by the Pundits, commentators and strategists.
Brokered Convention = a discussion about what it means to be a Republican.
1) A Brokered Convention gives conservatives a voice. A Brokered Convention gives Mitt Romney a voice. A Brokered Convention gives Mike Huckabee a voice. A Brokered Convention keeps media attention on the Republican party for the next 6 months for free! If we just roll over and go to sleep only John McCain will have a voice and the media will almost solely focus on the Democratic contest.
2) Republican Brokered Conventions result in wins!
Abraham Lincoln – 3rd Ballot – Won Presidency
Rutherford Hayes – 7th Ballot – Won Presidency
James Garfield – 36th Ballot – Won Presidency
Warning Harding – 10th Ballot – Won Presidency
Dwight D. Eisenhower – “2nd Ballot” – Won Presidency
3) McCain has to win 467 more delegates (45% of remaining delegates) to secure the nomination. Huckabee needs 603 delegates (55% of remaining delegates) to force a Brokered Convention.
4) On Super Tuesday McCain got 42% of the vote in Blue States and only 26% in Red States. Over 60% of McCain’s delegates have come from Blue States. Do we really want our candidate picked by States that we have very little chance of winning in the Fall?
5) 71% of the remaining delegates are from Red States. If we unite we can force this to a Brokered Convention.
6) During the 10 days leading up to Super Tuesday, Mitt asked Huckabee to drop out and for conservatives to unite behind him. The Golden Rule asks for “you to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” For the sake of conservatives please support a Brokered Convention and encourage Mitt’s supporters to back Huckabee. All of the Moderate and Liberal Republicans that have dropped out have endorsed McCain. Please gather the courage to rally Mitt’s supporters to the conservative cause to push this to a Brokered Convention.
7) In 1968 Reagan stayed in the race and came in 3rd at the convention with 182 delegates. In 1976 Reagan stayed in the race all the way to the convention and prevented Ford from getting to 1130 delegates. Ford cut a deal that secured enough delegates before the 1st Ballot but Reagan did not bow out until Ford had crossed the finish line.
Reagan’s Revolution says: “Reagan came into the 1976 North Carolina primary having lost the first five consecutive primaries to Ford. The national party establishment was against Reagan, the media started to write him off, and his campaign was broke and in debt. Needless to say, the pressure to drop out of the race was nearly overwhelming.”
Even though Reagan won in NC it was soon statistically impossible for Reagan to win. He still stayed in. He said conservatives have a problem with Ford and until he gets 1130 I will press on.
Hope this brings encouragement and hope. Spread the word. It is not over!

When he was shot down the standard of conduct was “Give name, rank and serial number only.” Because of McCain’s and others failure to live up to that standard, the standard was changed rather than have mass courts-martial.

McCain is much more conservative than the media portrays. His past flirtations with Democrats may offend some conservatives, but his message in this campaign has been solid.
For those who hate McCain so much that they will vote for Hillary (or Obama), give your head a shake. McCain will be the conservative candidate in the November election. He will stick up for conservative ideals. He will prevent the crazy-progressive agenda from creeping in. If you want universal health care, Hillary is probably your best bet. John McCain certainly won’t allow it.
If he has to compromise on some things, then I think he will have also won something else for the conservative cause and things will get done which is good for everyone.
If there is one Presidential candidate who has the hope of drawing those across the aisle to his side, I believe McCain is that person. Reagan did that too and that was terrific.
He was not my first choice for the Republican nomination, but now that I think about it he should have been.
