McCain’s Age Thing

“I’m older than dirt, with more scars than Frankenstein”
John McCain (multiple locations and dates)

84 year old Former President George HW Bush endorsed 71 year old John McCain in Houston today.
In Africa 62 year old current President George W Bush volunteered to help McCain in any way he could.
If 46 year old Barack Obama wins the democratic nomination, the McCain campaign is keenly aware of the age factor.
McCain is old enough to be Obama’s father.
The image in a “change election” could be dicey for the McCainiacs.
It is one of their MAJOR concerns.
BUT McCain is a vigorous campaigner. He thrives on questions about his stamina.
McCain and his inner circle of 5 senior advisers huddled at the senators picturesque Sedona Az ranch this weekend.
AGE was on the agenda.
So was Obama’s liberalism…
The freshman senator from Illinois scored the most liberal voting record in the Senate…watch McCain chalk that up to “Youthful inexperience.”

And where “change” rhetoric is concerned, McCain can argue that he has been going after sacred cows, riling the establishment, and affecting reform since before Obama got out of school.

The choice of McCain’s running mate, and potential vice-president, therefore is crucial, since that person would have a higher probability of becoming the President, if McCain passes away in office.

McCain just needs to set Obama up to drag up Obama’s youth and inexperience when the age question is brought into play, like Reagan did in his re-election.

Well, I guess the news media has already decided who the Republican candidate will be.
CNN canceled the upcoming Feb. 28th Republican Debate. Apparently they feel the republicans vote in the next few primaries are not needed.
Many feel the debate needs to be aired & we are signing a petition. Remember any of the delegates that does not belong to McCain are free to vote the way they want at the convention. McCain can still be beat.

You’ll find the petition @

The current election dynamic illustrates the influence exerted by the media to control our nation. I am disgusted by the media’s corronaton of candidates. Why has McCain been selected as the only conservative choice? I don’t care whether the corporate news networks tell me Huckabee cannot win. How many will join me to vote for the best man, giving no consideration for this media circus? I hope enough of you agree with me to make the difference.

William Ayers, in the age of terrorism, is Obama’s Willie Horton.”
Former counterterrorism expert Larry Johnson, Huffington Post, Feb. 16, 2008.
There has been sudden information linking Obama to a former member of the radical Weathermen Underground group that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings between 1970 and 1974. The former Weatherman, William Ayers, told the New York Times. I don’t regret setting bombs…I feel we didn’t do enough. Obama and Ayers were members of the board of Woods Fund of Chicago, between 1999 and 2002. In addition, Ayers contributed to Obama’s election to the Senate. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the trendy Hyde Park section of Chicago, and moved in the same liberal-progressive circles. Larry Johnson, a former counterterrorism official at the CIA and the State Department, predicts Republicans would seize on the Ayers case, and raises questions about Obama’s judgment.
2). Obama’s Relationship with Rezko Goes Back 17 Years. Obama Kept Contributions From Accused Fixer’s wife And others per ABC News. Obama Campaign still hasn’t returned more than $200,000. Obama referred to in document outlines case against Rezko Obama is finding out, it’s not as easy to dump politically toxic campaign donations. For the third time in less than a year, Obama’s camp announced it was shedding more donations tied to indicted fundraiser Rezko.
3) Senate Record shows when Obama is faced with tough choices he always gave in to pressure from the Bush admin and corporate lobbyists. Obama voted for Bush’s energy bill, sending more than $13 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to oil, coal, and nuclear companies. Obama voted with Republicans to allow credit card companies to raise interest rates over 30 percent, INCREASING STUDENT LOANS RATES AND FEES increasing hardship for families. Obama voted for one of Bush’s top priorities – expanding Nafta to South America – even as President Bush obstructed all the top Democratic priorities. Obama voted with Bush to make it harder for ordinary people to hold big corporations accountable when they do things like sell toxic toys, poisonous pet food, human food or just plain rip you off. Obama voted for “business-friendly ‘tort reform’ bill that rolls back working peoples’ ability to obtain reasonable redress and compensation…from corporations. HE IS NOT FOR THE WORKING MAN OR WOMAN!
4) Obama voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. Abortion opponents call Obama’s vote on medical care for aborted fetuses as a refusal to protect the helpless and accused him of supporting infanticide.

It talks about how McCain was instrumental in making legislation to force the peaceful Navajo people off their land to make it accessible for mining by a company called Peabody Mining, so they could steal their coal. Then, he and others in the deal paid to have it suppressed by the media. After I read the first article, I wanted to check it out, so I did a search and came up with Multitudes of reports about this event, and the hardships that it forced on these agrarian people

I have found what FOX NEWS ( and yourself) have done this election season is quite pathetic. You completely built McCain up as the forerunner and tore Romney down every step of the way. Never once did you mention McCains age along the way. Now that the media has designated McCain as the Republican nominee, you are gonna tear him down. I am a true Republican (past Romney supporter) and will not vote for McCain in the general. But, you built him up and NOW age is an issue?????

Yeah McCain is for change! He changed his mind on torture, he changed his mind on the religious right agens of intolerance, he changed his mind on the tax cuts, he is all about change. McCains changes demostrate that he is willin gto step in line an let the same people who pulled Georges strings to pull his. That is not the change anyone is looking for. McCain is either completly disengenous and willin gto do whatever he is told regaurdless of his own beleifs or he is already showing signs of senility. No one in a presidential race has EVER flipped and flopped like the McCain fish has.

You Carl are one of THE most BIASED reporters on FOX. I have heard your little slams over and over against Huckabee while on TV. You are nothing more than one of those disgruntled Romney voters.

Beep beep beep beep beep…We interupt this program for a very important message…

McKing has WON!!!! ‘Stop the Vote’!

To the remaining 16 states…you are being asked to stand down by GOP Washington insiders, the Media, Talking heads (whose guy is no longer running)…, disgruntled Romney supporters, pundints, and those that have ALREADY voted. You are asked to stop any further action towards a free vote. The decision has already been made for you.

LONG LIVE THE MCKING! LONG LIVE THE MCKING!

Go Huckabee!

I’ve seen John McCain speak. That man has incredible stamina. I’d follow him over lots of the other, younger candidates. For example, I saw Giuliani as well. Not half the energy of McCain. I dare say John McCain derives energy from the political process – it seems to suit him.

McCain drives me crazy, he just isn’t a real Republican. Now in November I’m going to have a choice between two liberals. What has happened to our core conservative values? I just don’t think McCain has them. Smaller government, help people grow and be productive not depend on hand outs, lower taxes.

And for all of those state level delegates STOP always saying you need to cut key services like education and police yet you still have plenty of pork to build a road to no place.

maybe now we can dispense with the I heart Huckabee campaign, so that mc cain can get on with the business of beating the pants off of the neophyte Obama

It’s possible for a younger person to read more books etc. than an older person and thus have a broader range of knowledge. But wisdom and judgment come only with the right application of knowledge over time.

In a world at war I’d much sooner have McCain’s experience at the helm of the ship I’m on than Obama’s charisma and knowledge of how to work a crowd.

Obama or Hillary don’t have a clue in leading our military and being a Commander in Chief. We are still in a midst of a war in Iraq and they campaign on taking our troops out without victory. Talk about demoralizing your troops. What kind of commander is that!!! Don’t they realize talk like that is only going pump up Islamic extremists. Who’s side are they on?

I didn’t think much about the talk of Obama being a Muslin, but after seeing his opinion how he is going to lead our military and his wife making comments that she has never been proud to be an American makes me think twice about his agenda. This guy is dangerous!!! If he becomes President our country better have an escape plan because our military is being lead by an slick con artist. McCain is the only candidate with the experience, creditials and patriotism to lead our military into victory of Islamic extremists!!

Republicans’ message to McCain?
Posted: 05:26 PM ET

Mike Huckabee speaks to supporters at the Fort Worth Stockyards February 29, 2008 in Fort Worth, Texas.
FROM CNN’s Jack Cafferty:

There is a poll out that raises serious questions about whether Republicans really like Mike Huckabee or whether they really don’t like John McCain.

It’s a USA Today/Gallup poll that says 49% of Republicans surveyed think Mike Huckabee should stay in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. This can’t be very comforting for John McCain who is the presumed nominee, almost half of Republicans don’t want Huckabee to go. Only 46% say Huckabee should drop out. If McCain’s popularity was what it should be, that number would be much higher. An even larger margin of Conservative Republicans, 54% to 42%, want Huckabee to stay in this thing.

This has to be tough on John McCain’s ego, not to mention his possible chances to win the White House. Ahead of the Texas primary tomorrow, The Dallas Morning News has endorsed Mike Huckabee even though the newspaper admits he has no chance of winning. The Dallas paper says a vote for Huckabee would be “a good investment in the Republican Party’s future”, adding he’s been “on the right side of campaign finance reform and environmental issues.”

As for McCain, the editorial board says his age and “choleric temperament gave us pause particularly when contrasted to Mr. Huckabee’s sunny-side-up brand of conservatism.”

How the Republican Party Committed National Suicide

Mathematically Impossible

By Adam Graham on Mar 3, 08

Mathematically impossible has become a phrase those who’ve watched coverage of the Mike Huckabee presidential campaign have heard ad nauseum. I become very wary of overused phrases, because they sound very much like talking points rather than facts.

Mathematically impossible is one of those talking point phrases that is inaccurate. It is mathematically impossible for Huckabee to win the nomination outright through the number of delegates won at upcoming primaries and caucuses. It is not mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination. In order to secure the nomination a candidate needs 1191 delegates. In order to be assured of the nomination before the convention, a candidate must have 1191 pledged delegates. A pledged delegate is bound to support the candidate they are pledged to no matter what. Low poll numbers in the general election, substantive allegations of felonious acts, or acting like Tom Cruise on Oprah Winfrey will not deny a candidate the votes of his pledged delegates on the first ballot.

On the other hand, unpledged delegates can vote for whomever they want on the convention floor. Many news organizations, in a rush to seal the deal for their long-time media darling, have called unpledged delegates to see how they would vote and find many saying theyd support McCain.

Of course, the problem here is the convention is not being held today or a week from now. Rather the convention is an event that is six months in the future. Six months is an eternity in politics. Six months ago, Rudy Giuliani was the frontrunner. Political careers can be destroyed in weeks. Therefore to assume the thoughts of pledged delegates right now will be their thoughts six months from now assumes far too much in our fluid political world.

Only when a candidate has 1191 delegates pledged (and McCain only has 874). can we say he is the nominee. Until that occurs, it is mathematically possible for someone else to be the winner.

The term mathematically impossible is incredibly inaccurate. As every baseball fan knows, math gives hope to every improbable cause. Even the Tampa Bay Devil Rays were not mathematically eliminated from baseballs playoff race until Mid-September of last season.

Unfortunately, one has to admit the term has been largely successful in achieving its goals, as many conservatives have surrendered in the fight against John McCain, acceding to a nominee that we cannot stand and tolerate. Many have, instead, found their purpose as unethical saboteurs of the Democratic Party process crossing over to defeat Hillary or Obama, depending on their strategic view.

In the end, this election has been a lesson in how the media can manipulate elections and create news, with phrases repeated often and long enough. News anchors and stories chattering on about impossibilities and candidates having no chance as a matter of fact, not a matter of opinion or analysis, have created a perception that doesnt match fact. But the constant, incessant buzz is taking a toll and creating the reality it alleges.

Weve also learned that just become someone labels a news organization conservative doesnt mean it will provide reliable information on the presidential election. And alas, blogs, for which so many people have so much hope, are only as good as their biases and sources allow them to be.

For whatever reason, be it John McCains Washington Insider status v. Huckabee as the man from Arkansas, a fear of losing to Obama or Hillary should the primary campaign go on one minute longer, conservative media has been just as likely to play the game as the liberal press, only with more passion. The same people who were telling us a few weeks ago that Mike Huckabee was only staying in this race to help John McCain, are now complaining about Mike Huckabee hurting John McCain by continuing in this race.

Perhaps it was because outlets such as National Review are greatly responsible for the McCain ascendancy. Conservative media, including yours truly, spent a great part of December providing a contextless attack on the record of Mike Huckabee, while ignoring the rise of John McCain in New Hampshire, thus giving him an effective free pass.

Much to their annoyance, Huckabee not only survived these attacks, but won eight states contests. I assumed that Huckabee was obviously running to be John McCains VP, and found egg on my face as he continued on. I was also guilty of attacking the unconservative portions of his record and platform in my writing and ignoring the positive parts. I was man enough to own up to my errors and admit that Id goofed They werent.

These errors in perception created by conservative media hounds are huge. A man who favors restoring Americas military to the same percentage of GDP that it was at under Ronald Reagan is thought by many to be as weak on national defense as Jimmy Carter.

The lesson for the future is that media bias exists, regardless of ideological stripe, and that no media outlet can be trusted to do your thinking for you. Of course, its still possible for voters to revolt against media-imposed groupthink in this cycle when they go to the polls in Texas and Ohio. After all, its not mathematically impossible.

Other counties have rules who rule under they are very old, The USa is ridiculous when it comes to an obsession with youth. Obama has no war experince, or other experience as Mccain has, Hillary Clinton has more experience in the Withe House, much more so, than obama. If Hillry loses, support is going to the Republicans. I know several Democrats who are voting for the Republicans if Hillary loses.Fox News, i have noticed you very conveniently delete my criticism of Obama every time I put a letter on. You are so one sisded it is horrible. you have unfairly bashed Hillary Clinton to death. Your station stinks. Im not watching it any more.

Comment by Dylan

Ok. I would hope that those who comment here on the bias and influence of the media also do so on many other websites as well. But what I wanted to say, is this: I’ve been a Marine for nine years, and enlisted eleven years ago (two year break.) That may not sound all that impressive to some, but I was 17 and a junior in high school when I joined, and am 27 now. It’s a huge deal in my life. And when I look at the candidates, as individuals, a question readily comes up. “Would I die at ’s command?”

With Hillary Clinton as CIC, the answer is yes, definitely. That is my job and my promise. But with Obama, well, right now that causes a lot of problems with me and my oath. As for McCain – he wouldn’t have to ask.

McCains age a factor?

Despite John McCain’s long resume’ as an experienced leader and doer in the GOP, even he has admitted puclically that his age and appearence do effect his public persona to some degree. Some people out there will claim, with some authority, that Image is everything. Especially in the information age we now live in. Just one example of this fact is the rise of Barack Obama!

Obama is almost entierly image, and those around him should be justly credited for the wonderful job they have done working with an almost “empty suit”, turning a bag of hopes and dreams and hot air into a silk purse. Perhaps as a secondery example of this phemon is Fox News “Campaign” Carl Cameron.
What an image for a TV reporter. If he wasn’t so distractingly skinny, with that goofy smile plastered all over his face, even while delivering bad news, one would swear that he is the spitting image of Mad Magazines Alferd E. Newman, our pop culture’s epitome of sillyness!

With McCain having one foot in and one foot out of the grave, he really should choose a younger running mate. There should be a cut off limit for this position. This is a highly stressful position and he wants a crack at it. I tell you, if I was his age, I would be ona yacht sipping Umbrella Drinks

Dear Sean,

“Touch not my annointed and do my prophet no harm” Its a dangerous thing to go after Rev. Wright (a man of God) It would do you and your viewer some good to play and listen to the entire sermon. I did and I found your 30 sec snipped to be a smear and distortion of the truth. The sad thing is that most people will not even hear or see that Rev. Wright referred to horrible things done by the government to Jewish Americans, Japanese Americans, Irish American and many other ethinc groups to embark upon our shores as well as Black Americans. Your subtle racism almost had me fooled and I was about to change my vote in November. But for the Grace of God go I to the polls to make yet another mistake like I did for George Bush. You were wrong about George how could anyone believe that you and the republican party could possibly be right about McCain. So here is what prophecy says. Hillary will be president after McCain has a heart attack and Obama falls. Problem is many people will be found missing as this will surely bring on the tribulation. War will continue at a level only republicans dream about. I don’t choose to be here. Barack offers the world Hope, but the world will reject it just like they rejected Christ. Examine yourself, to sit back and rejoice in caios and revel in half truths and lies under the banner of politics only reveals the darkness in your heart?

On the republican side Huckabee would have been a far better candidate to put up against clinton or obama. Unfortunately the march in to kiss up to party leaders never straying from the talking points got the republicans the worst possible candidate they could. I can just see the democrats playing those old Flip Flop commercials the republican put out on Kerry. Who is McCain is he a democrat or a republican? Lord knows He has made more than one fraudian slip. I can’t wait to call him at 3.00am. I’ll bet real money that he will not have a clue where the hell he is. Come on 73 cancer survivor ? No telling how many nights he wakes up with the shakes. How did he escape “shell shocked”. My guess is that he hasn’t! Is that who we really want as our next president? Can he balance his check book? Economics is not his strong suit……Hum….! 4 more years of WAR! ///100 years of WAR!

You know, this election reminds me of 1976. We had a choice of Gerry Ford, the bumbler for the GOP, and we had the eventual winner, perhaps the WORST President we’ve ever had, Carter the WIMP.

The choices this year is going to be a woman so dim witted that she couldn’t find subpoenaed papers because she lost them in her closet, and now the Alzheimer’s is getting so bad she can’t remember whether or not she was being shot at on a photo op trip. Our other choice is a racist who’s wife has never been proud of America before, while they’ve earned over $4 million over the last 5 years, live in a mansion, and he attends a church that sounds like it’s being run by a combination of Castro & an escaped mental patient. He also is so wimpy and thin skinned that he can’t take any criticism. Boy he’ll really strike fear in our enemies.

Of course for OUR side we have a dottering RINO (Republican In Name Only) whose Senate “Friend” comes from Moscow on the Mendota, Madison WI.

These are our choices???!!! God HELP US!
