McCain 15million vs. Obama 40 million and Hillary 20 million.

Sen. John McCain raised more than $15 million in March for his presidential campaign, more than any month since he started running. It’s way short of his democratic rivals.

He is returning $3 million in donations given for the General election but contributors are being asked to resend the money to his legal fund (see “McCain and the Money” April 4th post). A source says the money was raised primarily from large donors but he did receive $3.2 million from internet and small donations.

Obama raised $40 million for his primary race in March, the majority of which came from small donors. Clinton raised $20 million.

Taken together various steps and utterances from McCain insiders over the last few weeks make it clear he intends to accept taxpayer funded matching funds for the general election.

The FEC check will be about 85 million dollars.

An airplane was about to crash; there were 5 passengers on board, but had only 4 parachutes. The first passenger said, “I am Kobe Bryant, the best NBA basketball player; the Laker’s need me, I can’t afford to die.” So he took the first pack and left the plane. The second passenger, Hillary Clinton said, “I am the wife of the former U.S. President, a Senator from New York , and a potential future president. I am the smartest woman in American history, so America ’s people don’t want me to die.” She took the second pack and jumped out of the plane. The third passenger, John Kerry, said, “I’m the Senator from the great state of Massachusetts “. I was my party’s last nominee for President. So he grabbed the pack next to him and jumped. The fourth passenger, President George W. Bush, said to the fifth passenger, a10-year-old schoolgirl, “I have lived a full life, and served my country well, I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute.”The girl said, “That’s okay There’s a parachute left for you. America ’s smartest woman took my schoolbag.”

McCain needs to get some of those Independents and Dems. he’s been courting to finance his campaign. OK, don’t get all rialed up out there. I will pull the lever when the time comes for Sen. McAmnesty. But, don’t think I’ll be sending any money his way.

Wow, those Obama’nations have been indulging in the Kool-aid and have got themselves plastered. They are charging all 5 of their credit cards to the limit to finance his campaign. Wait until it is time for those bills to be paid. Talk about a financial crisis.

Hillary just keeps burying herself with more fabrications and conflicts of interest. She still seems to be the energizer bunny though.

all these vets/military personel have endorsed Sen. Clinton…and such endorsements just keep coming in…this shows that they rightly don`t care about what Hillary`s views, etc., on the military may or may not have been in the past…what`s most important, as expressed in their testimonials, is what Clinton`s views are now…which they all show strong support for!

this is not meant to compare with or to McCain…it instead is meant to compare to Obama`s lousy record backed up by far fewer endorsements from our vets/military personel!…especially in light of Obama`s MORONIC statements today that he`s better than both McCain and Clinton on foreign policy and running our military…despite his almost NON-EXISTENT experience sitting down with foreign leaders…and the FACT that he`s only visited a scant few countries compared to McCain and Clinton!

Obama`s arrogance is so great that he can`t see his great ignorance by making such statements…a speech can only take you so far…my 12 yr.-old son gave a speech against the war too…yet, nobody`s saying that he`s got the necessary judgement to run the most powerful country on earth…and that he would be better at US foreign policy than both McCain and Clinton…and also better than both at running our military…the FACT is that he wouldn`t and neither would Obama on all counts!

in a word, Obama`s an IGNORAMUS!…running before he`s actually ready and about to go down as the worst President in history if elected…the military will not be run by this IDIOT!…that`s why he`s got so few vet/military endorsements…they see him for the arrogant, ignorant MORON that he is…especially when it comes to foreign policy and the military!

so yes…IF A DEM…our vets/military know who they want answering that phone at 3:00 AM…Most, ENDORSING A DEM, are endorsing Clinton.

Sen. Clinton now has the endorsement of over 2000 vets/military personel…now, Gen. Henry Shelton can be added to that long list…:One of our nation’s top military figures, General Shelton served two terms as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush. In announcing his endorsement, General Shelton said, “I’ve been with Senator Clinton when she has been with our military men and women. I know from those experiences that she understands the demands and sacrifice of military life. I am confident she will always put the readiness and well being of our troops first. She is ready to be Commander-in-Chief.”

General Shelton joins General John Shalikashvili as the second former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to have endorsed Senator Clinton. General Shelton is the fourth flag officer to endorse Senator Clinton this week.

TESTIMONIALS: Former Admirals, Generals and Senior Defense Officials on Why They Support Hillary Clinton to be the Next Commander-in-Chief

In a conference call with reporters, former Admirals, Generals, and senior defense officials gave their reasons for supporting Senator Clinton to be our next Commander-in-Chief.

Their testimonials highlight Senator Clinton’s qualifications, experience, and strength of character.

General Wesley Clark

“She has done her homework on national security and I know from my personal discussions with her and with many other friends that go in and brief her in her role in the Senate Armed Services Committee. She knows the facts, she knows the details, plus she has the big picture. She is a strategic thinker but she has the building blocks of the strategy in her personal knowledge. This is someone that when she is president our military is going to respect very highly, and when our Senior Officers brief her and meet with her they are going be very, very impressed by what she knows and the intelligence that she brings to these problems.”

Brigadier General John Watkins, Jr.

“As I think about the challenges facing the nation and having been in uniform for almost thirty years, worked with a number of presidents to include the last four, I can’t think of a single person – those generals included – who s better qualified to walk into the Oval Office than Hillary Clinton. I don’t make that statement very lightly. She is more qualified, in my view, than her husband Bill was when he entered the office. It is no surprise to me that you would have as many flag officers who serve this country and Secretaries of the Army and Navy who have served this country who would come out and support Hillary.”

Major General Paul Eaton

“On a personal note, I have a Special Forces Captain son and a Sergeant Paratrooper both in Afghanistan and I find Senator Clinton the perfect choice to be their Commander-in-Chief and to display the loyalty to command our armed forces and to rebuild them after the conflicts in which we are engaged right now.”

Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy

“I support her because I trust her. I trust Hillary Clinton because of her judgment and her leadership. I have confidence that she is responsive to the needs of people. I believe that she understands leadership the way we do in the Army and that is that it’s about building connections and relationships and establishing guidance and leadership for others. I think she’ll rebuild relationships with other countries that have been suffering for the last seven or eight years; those relationships have really been strained beyond anything I would have anticipated. Another part of Hillary Clinton that I think is just tremendous is that she knows our reality. She is in touch with people, she listens to people. She decides what she believes about policy based on what’s right, she has integrity, and on what works, so she’s practical.”

Lieutenant General Frederick Vollrath

“I support Senator Clinton because I believe it’s time for change in our country, a new direction. And I know change carries with it risks. Senator Clinton is the candidate, in my opinion, with the proven experience that truly understands the risks and how to possibly cope with those risks to get the job done. We shouldn’t shirk from change because of the risks, but we absolutely have to have a leader with the proven experience. America, in the area of national defense, must be successful and Senator Clinton has that experience to create change, to understand the risk, and to get the job done.”

Admiral William Owens

“In this world that we face today, very complex as all of us know, I think experience will be really at a premium, especially at the level of the Commander-in-Chief. There’s not time to learn. The phone rings and you have to be ready. You have to ready with intuition, with experience and with skills. And this world will have the complexities that perhaps we’ve never before seen. I’ve been impressed with and admire Hillary Clinton for her work in the Senate. And we need people with great judgment. I think she brings the best of talent, intuition and experience to handle these unknown threats in the future.”

and a list of the most recent vets/military personel to endorse her:..todays, Hlllary got the endorsement of two distinguished, retired admirals, Vice Admiral Donald C. Arthur and Rear Admiral Stuart F. Platt. They join an eminent group of 30 retired admirals and generals who have endorsed Senator Clinton to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief…

and the list continues to grow:

General Wesley Clark
General John M. Shalikashvili
General Henry Hugh Shelton

HILLARY CLINTON CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES PENNSYLVANIA VETERANS FOR HILLARY LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) – The Clinton campaign in Pennsylvania announced the creation of the Veterans for Hillary Leadership Committee. The committee, made up of 21 distinguished veterans from the Keystone State, will spearhead the campaign’s efforts to reach out to Pennsylvania’s veterans and inform them about Hillary’s record of fighting for the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Congressmen John Murtha and Joe Sestak, will co-chair the committee.

The committee was unveiled at a Veterans for Hillary event in Clifton Heights where Congressman Sestak, the highest ranking member of the military currently serving in the U.S. Congress, discussed Hillary Clinton’s readiness to be Commander in Chief on day one in the White House.

“Whether it is the national disgrace at Walter Reed or the failure to deal with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the Bush Administration has consistently failed to take care of our veterans,” said Congressman John Murtha, who served in the Marine Corps for 37 years on active duty and in the reserves. “Hillary Clinton has not merely voiced support for our troops – she has fought to ensure troops returning from Iraq are screened for Traumatic Brain Injury and get the care they need. She has been a tremendous advocate for veterans in the Senate and will put their concerns front and center as President.”

In addition to the 19,000 men and women in the Pennsylvania National Guard, 5,400 Pennsylvanians join the Armed Forces every year. Senator Clinton led a bipartisan effort to ensure that Guard members and men and women in the reserves, who are shouldering much of the burden in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, now have access to the same health care as active duty service-members.

“Hillary Clinton has demonstrated her commitment to our nation’s veterans time and again,” said Congressman Joe Sestak, who served in the Navy for over 30 years, retiring as a Rear Admiral. “She has worked tirelessly with Democrats and Republicans alike to ensure that we are taking care of those who have served our country, and hundreds of thousands of citizen soldiers in the National Guard and reserves now have health care because of her efforts.”

The Veterans for Hillary Leadership Committee includes:

Larry Babitts, Boiling Springs, US Army
on Byrd, Tobyhanna, US Army
Russell Canevari, Jessup, US Army
Ed Cemic, Sr., Johnstown, US Army
Kathy Cullinane, Scranton, USAF

Open Letter from Former Admirals and Generals Supporting Hillary Clinton

The challenges facing our nation today are among the most difficult of any time in our history. We are fighting wars on two fronts. Our credibility and leadership in the world have been eroded; our alliances are frayed; our armed forces are under strain.

As retired flag and general officers, we have devoted our lives to our country. We have hundreds of thousands of men and women on the front lines that have done the same. At this critical time in our nation’s history, our men and women in uniform deserve better than a presidential debate mired in trivia. The stakes are simply too high. As we are poised to choose our next Commander-in-Chief, we should not allow the media to divert attention from the real issues. What matters is who is ready and inspired to lead — who can be Commander-in -Chief on Day One.

It is imperative that our new President knows how and when to use force and diplomacy judiciously, to know how to deploy the olive branch and the arrow. The President needs to be ready to act swiftly and decisively in a crisis. And we think our next President must restore our moral authority and leadership around the world with the courage to meet with our adversaries when appropriate, and the wisdom to pursue diplomacy wisely.

It is especially important to understand the military and diplomatic challenges facing us in Iraq, and to end the Iraq war responsibly and safely. It is also important to rededicate ourselves to winning in Afghanistan, the forgotten front line in our fight against terrorism.

In these critical areas, it is clear to us that Senator Clinton is the candidate best qualified to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief.

We believe that she has real understanding of the military through her diligent service on the Senate Armed Services Committee. She has worked tirelessly to ensure our men and women in uniform are properly trained and equipped to be sent to battle. And she has fought to make certain that they are treated with dignity when they return home. We have personally and closely observed her respect for our armed forces, and she has earned their respect. And ours.

We hope that as a country, we will now turn our attention to the critical issues that will determine the future of our great nation.

OBAMA`S UNELECTABILITY EXPOSED!???

Obama won`t win enough of the large Dem. states…and the gen. election because:

http://www.newsmax.com/ruddy/Why_the_GOP_Loves_Obama/2008/02/20/74275.html

1. Obama is the risky liberal. Every time the Democrats run a liberal like Obama, who the National Journal reports has a 100 percent liberal voting record, they lose.

Remember President McGovern, President Dukakis, President Kerry? Mrs. Clinton, however, has been quite clever in her record and rhetoric to come across as more moderate. In New York state she consistently won hardcore Republican districts in her two Senate races.

A McCain insider stated that Obama’s support — for example, for driver’s licenses for illegals — is worth at least “five percentage points in the election.” Mrs. Clinton was smart enough to back away from that hot-button issue.

2. Obama energizes Democratic voters. It’s been talked about quite a bit that Obama is a charismatic man who energizes young voters. But young voters notoriously don’t vote.

Remember all the hoopla in the last election with MTV and its “Vote or Die” campaign to bring out antiwar young voters for President Kerry?

Indeed, Obama, as the first African-American candidate of a major party, will energize black voters. But the black voters vote as a bloc for the Dem. candidate already?

What does Obama actually bring to the table for Democrats? It’s not clear. Mrs. Clinton, as her longtime critic Dick Morris likes to point out, would most assuredly energize women voters, especially millions of single moms that have never voted before.

3. Obama’s Latino problem. Clearly Latino or Hispanic voters are shaping up to be the key swing vote in this election, as they have been in recent elections. Some political pundits say George Bush’s come-from-behind win in 2004 was due to the solid 40 percent of Hispanics who voted for him, tipping the election in his favor.

This year was shaping up to be a terrible year for the GOP vis-à-vis Hispanic voters. But in primary after primary, Obama has had great difficulty winning over Latino voters.

Even in Illinois, where he beat Hillary to 2 to 1 in the primary, he only captured 52 percent of his home state’s Hispanic vote.

There are a variety of explanations for Obama’s Latino problem, including the belief there is an ethnic rivalry between Hispanics and blacks. Hispanics would like to see a Latino president in the White House, so the theory goes.

Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, has done extremely well among Latino voters, perhaps owing to her husband’s likeability among these voters.

The recent primaries show Obama improving with Hispanic voters. Republicans, however, believe the problem with this key group will persist.

And then there is John McCain, who is the one Republican who is very well liked by Latino voters. He’s also a strong leader, which Hispanics respect. He’s pro-immigrant. As we all know, McCain joined Ted Kennedy in backing the recent immigration bill.

There’s little doubt Hillary could keep the Democratic stranglehold on Latino voters. Obama won’t.

4. Obama’s naiveté. Don’t forget, America is still in a war on terror. It is doubtful America will be tempted to go for an untested leader, no matter how charismatic he may be.

Some have drawn the comparison between Obama and JFK’s election win in 1960 during the height of the Cold War. But the Kennedy-Obama comparison is a weak one. For starters, John Kennedy was a war hero when he was elected president. Obama can make no such claim. Kennedy also had far more Washington experience in Congress and the Senate than Obama.

JFK also had his well-known father Joe at his side. And certain Democrats like to forget this, but Kennedy outflanked Nixon on defense issues, arguing that Nixon was too soft on communism. Obama’s dovish complaints about the Bush administration being too hawkish on terror won’t resonate with middle-of-the-road Independents/voters.

5. Obama will not be able to lay claim to the good economic times of the 1990s that Bill Clinton presided over, as Hillary can.

6. And Obama will be a nightmare for Democrats with swing voters in key states. Take for example the highly influential Cuban-American vote that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 — and was one of the key reasons George Bush beat Al Gore.

The Cuban vote has been moving into the Democratic column but they will not go for Obama because he has clearly stated he will open up relations with Castro.

Sen. Clinton’s announced Cuba policies take a hard line, which resonates with these voters.

7. And then there are the key Jewish communities in swing states like Florida and Ohio that are already deeply worried about electing Obama to the presidency.

Obama has talked openly about sitting down — without any preconditions — with Iran’s diabolical leader Ahmadinejad, who has referred to Israel as “bacteria” and has said in the past that the Jewish state is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map.”

With the McCain campaign blanketing key markets with TV ads featuring “independent Democrat” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Obama will be in deep trouble.

8. The Rev. Wright: Need I say More!?

this is what i`m talking about when i say that Obama won`t beat McCain in enough of the large states in the gen. election…when Hillary would…because Obama won`t get enough of her supporters…including me in Ohio…

for ex., just using the Latino vote in the extremely important swing states such as Florida:

According to the latest poll avgs., Hillary`s up 37%, (67- 30), over Sen. McCain among Latino voters in Florida.

Otoh, the polls shows Sen. Obama behind Sen. McCain, among Latino voters, by 7%, (49-42), in Florida.

Florida is just one typical ex.

another ex…in Ohio, Hillary won a very impressive 67 percent of the white women, many single moms, voting in Ohio…Obama simply will NOT get this kind of support from woman in such important key swing states…and many of these voters were voting for the 1st time…some even admitted in exit polling that it was almost as much of an anti-Obama vote as a vote for Hillary…

so he`s not getting that high % of new voters which he thinks he is…in a recent Fox news report, many interviewed at Obama`s entertaining speeches, were actuallyClinton supporters just there for the show!

FURTHER PROOF OF OBAMA`S UNELECTABILITY!???

Hillary and her supporters have been saying for weeks that Obama`s UNELECTABLE!…well, in addition to the above post, major polls are starting to show that Hillary, etc., is right!…

the arguement that Clinton, who`s won the all-important swing states, has a much better chance of winning the swing states which Dems. will need in the fall…is starting to prove true in polling data, especially in the 3 most important swing states!…

Clinton Leads 50 – 41 Among Pennsylvania Democrats; Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Whites Give Clinton Lead In Key November Matchups: — PENNSYLVANIA Democrats: Clinton 50 – Obama 41; FLORIDA: Clinton 44 – McCain 42; McCain 46 – Obama 37; OHIO: Clinton 48 – McCain 39; Obama 43 – McCain 42

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton holds a 50 – 41 percent lead over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama among likely Pennsylvania Democratic primary voters and runs better against Arizona Sen. John McCain, the likely Republican nominee in Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

In general election match ups of the three largest and most important swing states in the Electoral College, the survey finds.
Florida: Clinton 44 percent – McCain 42 percent; McCain beats Obama 46 – 37 percent;
Ohio: Clinton beats McCain 48 – 39 percent; Obama gets 43 percent to McCain’s 42 percent;
Pennsylvania: Clinton tops McCain 48 – 40 percent; Obama leads McCain 43 – 39 percent.

The primary vote between Obama and Clinton splits sharply along racial lines, with her advantage coming from stronger support in every contest from white voters. For example, Clinton leads 59 – 34 percent among white Pennsylvania likely primary voters, while Obama leads 73 – 11 percent among black Democrats.

“When it comes to November, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s strength is a big edge over Sen. Barack Obama among white voters, who have not given a majority of their votes to a Democratic presidential nominee since Lyndon Johnson in 1964,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.”

More than a third of voters in the three states think Obama’s race is an advantage, more than twice the number who think it is a disadvantage. By contrast, roughly a quarter of voters say Clinton’s gender is an advantage, and about the same number think it is a disadvantage.

“Former Democratic vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro’s assertion that Obama’s race has helped his candidacy finds some support among the electorate,” said Brown.

“AT LEAST FOR NOW, SEN. CLINTON`S ARGUMENT THAT SHE IS THE BETTER GENERAL ELECTION CANDIDATE IN THESE KEY BATTLEGROUND STATES APPEARS TO HAVE SOME VALIDITY,” SAID BROWN. “IN THIS SURVEY, HER STRENGTH AMONG WHITE VOTERS IS WHY SHE RUNS BETTER AGAINST SEN. McCAIN THAN DOES SEN. OBAMA.

“Roughly one in five Democrats in the three states say they will vote for McCain against Obama, but less than 10 percent say they would vote for McCain over Clinton. Among white Democrats, 23 percent defect to McCain in a matchup with Obama, but only 11 percent defect when Clinton is the Democratic candidate.”

Pennsylvania

Among Pennsylvania Democrats, Clinton leads 54 – 37 percent with women, and ties Obama 46 – 46 percent with men. Obama leads 51 – 42 percent among voters under 45 years old, while Clinton leads 54 – 37 percent among voters over 45.

By a 48 – 42 percent margin, Pennsylvania registered voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton. Obama gets a 49 – 31 percent favorability and McCain gets 47 – 31 percent.

“Sen. Clinton’s imaginary snipers, Rev. Wright, Geraldine Ferraro, these events have taken only a small toll on Sen. Clinton’s lead in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary,” said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

“Her strength is her clear advantage among white voters – blue collar whites, less educated whites, economically hurting whites, that group known famously as Reagan Democrats in the Keystone State. Obama is marshalling all his forces, but despite his eloquent dialogue on the race issue, Pennsylvania Democrats are unmoved. So Far.”

The economy is the most important issue in their vote, 46 percent of voters say, followed by 23 percent who list the war in Iraq and 14 percent who cite health care.

Looking at the most important quality in a candidate, 30 percent want a strong leader and 26 percent want someone who is trustworthy.

Being black is an advantage for Obama, 32 percent say, while 15 percent say it’s a disadvantage and 47 percent say it makes no difference.

Being a woman is an advantage for Clinton, 26 percent say, with 25 percent saying it’s a disadvantage and 45 percent saying it makes no difference.

Florida

In a general election match-up, McCain trails Clinton 44 – 42, too close to call, but handily defeats Obama 46 – 37 percent.

“The difference between Clinton and Obama in Florida is the white vote,” said Brown. “She gets 38 percent to 50 percent for McCain, but Obama loses to the Arizona senator 54 – 27 among white voters. If Obama does get the nomination, how he fares with whites will be crucial to his chances.”

The economy is the most important issue to Florida voters, 44 percent of voters say, followed by 19 percent who list the war in Iraq and 14 percent who cite health care.

Twenty-nine percent say a strong leader is the most important characteristic they seek in a president, while 27 percent say trustworthiness.

Being black is an advantage for Obama, 35 percent say, while 15 percent say it’s a disadvantage and 44 percent say it makes no difference.

Being a woman is an advantage for Clinton, 24 percent say, with 25 percent saying it’s a disadvantage and 47 percent saying it makes no difference.

Ohio

Clinton’s 48 – 39 percent lead over McCain puts her clearly out in front after several months of see-saw, too-close-to-call results.

Men split with 43 percent for McCain and 42 percent for Clinton, but women go with her 53 – 35 percent.

In an Obama-McCain matchup in Ohio, women back Obama 44 – 40 percent as men split, with 44 percent for McCain and 42 percent for Obama.

The economy is the most important issue in their vote, 44 percent of voters say, followed by 22 percent who list the war in Iraq and 17 percent who cite health care.

“The economic concerns of voters make Ohio a tougher challenge for McCain than has traditionally been the case for Republicans, who have never won the White House without carrying Ohio,” Brown said. “But Obama’s weakness among white men is an indication that he has not yet closed the sale among the lunch bucket brigade.”

Ohio voters split in the most important quality they want in a candidate, with 28 percent looking for someone trustworthy and 27 percent looking for a strong leader.

Being black is an advantage for Obama, 36 percent say, while 14 percent say it’s a disadvantage and 45 percent say it makes no difference.

Being a woman is an advantage for Clinton, 24 percent say, with 27 percent saying it’s a disadvantage and 46 percent saying it makes no difference.

From March 24 – 31, Quinnipiac University surveyed:
1,136 Florida voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percent;
1,238 Ohio voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percent;
3,484 Pennsylvania voters with a margin of error of +/- 1.7 percent, including 1,549 Democratic likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percent.

QUESTION: Has there ever been a President who lost Penn., Ohio, and Flor.?

ATTN: Obama Supporters

——————————————————————————–

We know you read this site…which honestly, is fairly odd. I’ve been to Democratic Underground…and I’ve seen hundreds of people commenting about this site. It’s…really creepy.

Anyway…here’s the thing. I hate Republicans, I really REALLY do. I swore I would never vote for one. I want to support Obama if he wins the nomination…but it’s going to be hard. Not because of him…but because of YOU.

Can’t you see that your fellow democrats are upset? We believe Hillary Clinton would be superior, and you believe Obama would be superior. Why can’t we just agree to disagree and treat each other civilly. If we were to do that…if Obama won the nomination, we’d have a “Guess you won! Now we’ll work hard for Obama!” attitude. However, for some reason you guys can’t be that way. You feel you have to attack us at every turn…personally attack not just our candidate..but US! I’ll admit there are some Hillary supporters who do the same…but the hate that comes from Obama’s supporters is overwhelming..

What I’m getting at is that this attitude is causing us to resent you and Obama. Instead of showing compassion toward us if our candidate were to lose, possibly along the lines of “Sorry Hillary lost…but Obama will do his best to carry on some of her platforms” it’s more like “HAHA! WE WIN! HILLARY SUCKS! GOOD RIDDANCE YA $(*$#, AND ALL HER F*****G SUPPORTERS!” Then do you HONESTLY think we are going to turn around and vote for him in the general? HALF of this country still supports Hillary Clinton. You cannot win without us…and your attitude is alienating.

Summing up..I want to vote for Obama if he wins the nomination. I can’t imagine Bush III. But the resentment is building up inside me everytime I see these hateful comments. The final straw was posted on a blog somewhere: “Why can’t Hillary and all her supporters just die!”

You’re alienating us one by one. Please, I beg of you…for the sake of the Democratic party…stop. Stop your hate…stop your disrespect…stop it all. Make it so that when the nominee is chosen, be it Clinton or Obama, we can happily join together with the opposite side and focus on beating McCain. I can’t keep making excuses for your behavior.

Sick of the Pandering – Enough!! High-five to Geraldine Ferraro for Telling the Truth!!

——————————————————————————–

High five to Gerry Ferraro for telling the truth, !!!!!

I think Gloria Steinam actually said something very similar almost 2 months ago, without as much press. If Obama is white or a woman with same resume they would have expired like Biden. Dodd and the rest!!!

Four years ago, the DNC had a plan B. If kerry would lose in 2004, they knew Hillary was a coming in 2008. And they didnt want Hillary!!!!!! So they took obama, made him the key note speaker at the 2004 convention and set him on a course for the presidency. Put him in the Senate, and plugged away. I guess after stinging defeats in 2000, and 2004, they prepared themselves and went to the drawing board to create their dreamcandidate.

Male, 40 something, minority!!!!!

Hail and cheers to Gerry ferraro for the courage to say what many know to be the truth. hail to ferraro for the courage to say what many on these blogs are also afraid to say.

I AM SICK OF THE PANDERING!!! WHO ELSE ?

WHY GOP surrogates such as FOX news, and other conservative Media personalities are doing all they can to destroy SENATOR CLINTON CAMP???

– RUSH LIMBAUGH – THE AUTHOR OF “OPERATION CHAOS” -”WHICH VERY PURPOSE IS to make an impression reverse to what was intended” – to trick and produce a perception upon the minds of Democrats supporters that SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON is only winning because of this operation, but in reality is trying to help BARRACK OBAMA to clinch the nomination.

Why the GOP Loves Obama

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 10:27 PM

By: Christopher Ruddy Article Font Size

Republicans this week are breathing a deep sigh of relief.

What was seen as a washout for them this coming November — with big losses expected in the House and Senate and a catastrophic loss of the White House — is now shaping up to be less ominous.

With the Democrats moving to pick Sen. Barack Obama as their nominee, the Republicans see a real opportunity to keep the Oval Office in GOP hands.

There is no question that the Republicans had viewed Hillary Clinton as the most formidable of the Democratic candidates.

During one of the primary debates, Obama suggested that the Republicans were “comfortable” attacking Hillary, suggesting they actually wanted her to be the nominee. Au contraire.

Republicans were attacking Mrs. Clinton because they believed she would be the nominee. They could hardly foresee Obama’s rise.

Indeed, she was the Democratic front-runner and hence the focus of their attacks. Now, Obama is discovering that he’s the focus of Republican scrutiny, with John McCain highlighting Obama’s accommodationist views with tyrants.

The glee seen in GOP eyes this week can be chalked up to the clearly visible fault lines shaping up for the November election, a seismic battle between McCain and Obama.

There are many reasons the GOP would rather face Obama. Here are some of the best reasons:

Obama is the risky liberal. Every time the Democrats run a liberal like Obama, who the National Journal reports has a 100 percent liberal voting record, they lose.

Remember President McGovern, President Dukakis, President Kerry? Mrs. Clinton, however, has been quite clever in her record and rhetoric to come across as more moderate. In New York state she consistently won hardcore Republican districts in her two Senate races.

A McCain insider told me this week that Obama’s support — for example, for driver’s licenses for illegals — is worth at least “five percentage points in the election.” Mrs. Clinton was smart enough to back away from that hot-button issue.

But don’t the Democrats know that black voters vote as a bloc for them already?

What does Obama actually bring to the table for Democrats? It’s not clear. Mrs. Clinton, as her longtime critic Dick Morris likes to point out, would have most assuredly energized women voters, especially millions of single moms that have never voted before.

And Democrats like to forget this, but Kennedy outflanked Nixon on defense issues, arguing that Nixon was too soft on communism. Obama’s dovish complaints about the Bush administration being too hawkish on terror won’t resonate with middle-of-the-road voters.

With good reason, the GOP is feeling better, finding its second wind as it coalesces around John McCain.

Despite some differences with the maverick senator, the Republican base will turn out for him. His $12 million fundraising haul for January is just one sign of that.

But there are many other reasons the GOP is more comfortable with Hillary out of the picture and Obama as the nominee.

First, Obama will not be able to lay claim to the good economic times of the 1990s that Bill Clinton presided over, as Hillary can. And Obama will be a nightmare for Democrats with swing voters in key states. Take for example the highly influential Cuban-American vote that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 — and was the key reason George Bush beat Al Gore.

The Cuban vote has been moving into the Democratic column but they will not go for Obama because he has clearly stated he will open up relations with Castro.

Sen. Clinton’s announced Cuba policies take a hard line, which resonates with these voters. And then there are the key Jewish communities in swing states like Florida and Ohio that are already deeply worried about electing Obama to the presidency.

Obama has talked openly about sitting down — without any preconditions — with Iran’s diabolical leader Ahmadinejad, who just this week referred to Israel as “bacteria” and has said in the past that the Jewish state is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map.”

With the McCain campaign blanketing key markets with TV ads featuring “independent Democrat” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Obama will be in deep trouble.

The Democrats haven’t completely abandoned Hillary. But it sure looks that way.

There’s an oft-quoted saying that the Democrats “fall in love and Republicans fall in line.”

After this November, we may have to change that to “Democrats often like to run off the side of a cliff and the Republicans love to watch them.”

OUR APPEAL TO DNC LEADERSHIP AND ALL SUPERDELEGATES IS TO SUPPORT….

– SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON IF YOU WANT TO WIN BACK THE WHITE HOUSE.

– SUPERDELEGATE SHOULD VOTE BASE ON THE VERY PURPOSE WHY WE CREATED YOU…

– WHICH IS TO ELECT THE MOST ELECTABLE CANDIDATE WHO CAN BEAT GOP CANDIDATE…

– YOUR LOYALTY SHOULD BE FOR THE PARTY AS A WHOLE AND NOT FOR ONE PERSON…

The current polls show Obama in the lead. We have run a great campaign and will not stop until we overtake the white house!!

My generation loves Obama and Michelle because they have acted and experimented like all people going through rites of passage. And he explains that in his book. Unlike the clinton generation that lulled /lulls itself through life on booze and prescription pills, Obama was a breath of fresh air because he lived life, embraced it, and explains how it got him to where he is today.

My generation loves Obama because he and his mentor, Rev Wright, have exposed how the poverty that enslaves blacks for generations and other minorites is structurally supported and maintained by the powerful (who happen to be WHITE). So wealthy whites who inherit $$$ or make 109 million bucks over 9 years and sit on their tails doing nothing will now pay for gov’t programs that help the poorest of the poor. Offended?? That Christianity…feed the poor and hungry…

My generation loves Obama because he is not co-opted by religious ideologies that spew hate on the LGBT community. Obama will guarantee that no religious organization dicates how we define sexuality (the when, how and who we f–k), and help women to see themselves as something other than viable ovaries for reproduction. Live with that…

My generation loves Obama because he is willing to talk to rather than bomb our enemies.

All of my profs at a large state university in the N.East support Obama and have helped us see a new inclusive future no longer dictated by partisan politics or predicated on the guilt-ridden codes of major religious ideologies. So chew on that.

IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HATES THE FACT THAT A WHITE MAN CAN WIN. HOW MANY BLACKS ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA (95%), HOW MANY BLACKS ARE VOTING FOR CLINTON (3%) HOW MANY FOR MCCAIN (2%). THAT SAYS IT ALL RIGHT THERE.

THE TRUTH IS THE MAJORITY OF BLACKS ONLY VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO CALLS THEMSELF A DEMOCRAT, AND IF THE CANADATE IS BLACK THEY DON’T CARE TO KNOW WHO HE IS, THEY JUST GET IN LINE AND FOLLOW.

STOP THINKING ABOUT THE COLOR OF EVERYBODY’S SKIN AND VOTE BASED ON THE PERSON’S QUALIFICATIONS. I REALIZE IT MIGHT MEAN DOING A LITTLE WORK AND RESEARCHING, BUT IT MAY ENLIGHTEN YOU MIND.

Why won’t the Dems tell Hillary to pack it up? She has lost her lead in PA which she needs to win by a big margin (20pts) to stay viable, her fund drive for Pa is a disaster (see her website), and her staff is jumping ship. The press should just ignore her and Obama should refuse to debate her (why waste the time) so he can concentrate on the race for the White House. She has now become the Huckabee of the dem party….

Barb,

Girlfriend needs to win 60% of all remaining states as well as 60% of the remaining superdelegates. That will be a tough feat or a miracle. I think Mark Penn has been more of a liability to her. I understand that it was his idea not to compaign vigorously in a lot of the states that Obama won.

Obama has alwasy been afraid to debate Clinton, he has to make the moderaters promise to ask Hillary the first questions so he will know the answers.

Obama needs to get out now! He is now becoming another Sharpton.

patty from arizona,

obama is a puppet of kerry, kennedy, and gore. if you look at obama historically with that perspective and look prospectively you will notice it makes sense. there’s a fraction in the dem party that hillary and bill have pissed-off and now it’s payback time.

but don’t let that surprise you becasue that’s how dirty the party is.

getting back to obama, the dems and liberals have always taken advantage of blacks. class warfare to keep them on the goverment’s tit and not potty train them keeps their votes.

when mccain wins and i feel certain he will, there will be a more fierce backlash than the one hillary would experience if she won the nomination. rioting and violence will spread into the streets. resouces that we would need for roads, bridges, education, medical will need to be divereted to quell the violence. and thats how hateful and selfish your democratic party is.

but we need mccain. he’s the best person to run against the dem machine and the toughest to address the discord that is inevitable when the great black unifier wins the nomination.

In case you haven’t heard, Obama is leading Clinton in popular vote, delegates and states. He is obviously electable or people would not be voting for him (duh!). He has debated Clinton 20 times, and another debate is scheduled for this weekend. The moderaters have not promised to ask Hillary the first questions. She was asked the first question in about 60% of the time and I think that was from the old ediquette of ladies before gents. I don’t think anyone should get out of the race until they feel it is hopeless. As far as Obama becoming another Sharpton, Obama is his own person. Sharpton is his own person also. Both have their own unique purpose in life.

-”…experimented like all people going through rites of passage.” Not having read his book, I’m going to assume you mean his drug usage. I, for one, do not fit in your “…all people going through rites of passage.” I have never taken drugs, if I had, I would not have been able to serve in the US Army in the capacity that I did.-

-I will agree, poverty does enslave minorites as well as whites. But do not blame success, blame a system that keeps people in poverty. Blame those who truely hold people back, weither it be a government official or someone’s own community calling them a “sell out” if they try to better themselves. Also, as you point out, it is Christian to feed the poor and the hungry. I can not argue with that, I was raised as a Roman Catholic and I take that to heart; however, there is nothing in our Constitution that says as American’s we have to feed the poor and hungry, leave that to our wonderful places of worship and other non profit groups. If I wish to keep my hard earned money, let me, if I wish to donate, let me. Do not force me to do what I don’t want to do.

My generation loves Obama because he is not co-opted by religious ideologies that spew hate on the LGBT community. Obama will guarantee that no religious organization dicates how we define sexuality (the when, how and who we f–k), and help women to see themselves as something other than viable ovaries for reproduction. -He may not be co-opted by religious ideologies that spew heat against the LGBT community, but he did/does belong to a community that states that white people invented AIDS…

My generation loves Obama because he is willing to talk to rather than bomb our enemies.

-Way back when I was in highschool, in my JR or SR year (sometime between 98/99) I was witness to two of my friends discussing this very same thing. One argued that violence isn’t nessessary while the other believed that sometimes it needs to be used. As they argued the “pro-violence” one, if you will, just slapped the “pro-talk-only” one. The violent one applogized and the argument continued. During the argument, the “violent” one slapped him two more times. After the second one the “talk-only-one” pushed him back and yelled: “Stop it!” To which the “violent one” responded: “You see, sometimes you have to get a little violent to get a point across.”

All of my profs at a large state university in the N.East support Obama and have helped us see a new inclusive future no longer dictated by partisan politics or predicated on the guilt-ridden codes of major religious ideologies. So chew on that.

-I live in the North East, New Jersey to be exact, so I understand why you hear this from the professors out here, for I have heard some of the same things. The fact is, the job of the professor is to teach and open eyes and minds, not to dictate support for one side or the other (thus being partisan themselves). And guilt-ridden codes of major religious ideologies? How about the guilt-ridden codes of “progressives”? Where I must feel guilty for my family being successful? Poor Irish folks, off the boat and made something of themselves, now I must feel guilty that I have a house, a college education and a job? Or I must hide the crucifix that I adorn around my neck because someone “might” be offended by my beliefs yet I have to accept anythingelse I see?

-I do not pretend to be perfect or to know everything. But I do know this: The government is not the answer to our problems. The only people that can unite us, is US! Not some political figure out in Washington. This is a great country with wonderful freedoms. We have to use those freedoms, not pass them on to a politician. Remember what politics stands for: POLI meaning MANY and TICS are blood sucking creatures.

The numbers are all going Obama’s way right now. Hillary cannot overcome them, even in Pennsylvania. She will not be able to pull even with Obama on delegates. McCain got $15 million dollars last month….poverty row compared to Obama or Hillary. McCain is not a serious candidate anyway. He supports a position opposed by 70% of the voters and he engages in negative campaigning….against himself no less. His handlers have a senile mess on their hands. Between his so-called “foreign policy” speech recently (more war, more dead) and Hillary’s fantasy about sniper fire threats that existed only in her dreams, the Obama campaign has to be breathing a sigh of relief that his two autocratic opponents insist on stepping into their own political cow patties.

I have not read one racist comment on this specific post EXCEPT for yours. Implying that people are racist because they do not agree with the POLITICAL VIEWS (FYI: Political views should be the only reason for selecting a president, not skin color) of Obama, is actually racist. I do not want to see Obama become our next president because he is close to the socialist mark on the political spectrum, NOT BECAUSE HE IS AFRICAN AMERICAN!!!!! Please to not imply that those who do not vote for Obama have racist motives. That reeks of ignorance. Hillary Rodham Clinton
Clinton Told True Tale of Woe, Says Kin
By Anne E. Kornblut
The aunt of a young pregnant woman who died after a hospital told her she needed to pay $100 up front for care said in an interview on Monday that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has been telling the story accurately on the campaign trail — following claims by a different Ohio hospital that it did not turn the patient away.

For weeks, Clinton repeated an anecdote she heard in Ohio on Feb. 28 involving a young woman who lost her baby and later died because she lacked health insurance and did not have $100 to gain access to a nearby hospital.

But over the weekend, Clinton came under fire when officials at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, after reading about her remarks, demanded that she stop recounting it because the patient, Trina Bechtel, was admitted there and did have insurance.

That part, it turns out, is true. But so is Clinton’s claim that Bechtel did not get care at another hospital that wanted a $100 pre-payment before seeing her, according to the young woman’s aunt, Lisa Casto. “It’s a true story,” said Casto, 53.

Casto added some details that were not part — or differed from — the Clinton anecdote: She said her niece had previously been in debt to a local hospital that later sent her a letter informing her that she could only be treated there in the future if she gave them a $100 deposit. At the time she went into debt to that hospital, Casto said, Bechtel was uninsured, though she later obtained health insurance and was insured at the time of her death.

Casto said she did not want to give the name of the offending hospital because the flood of calls over the incident has overwhelmed her and Meigs County deputy sheriff Bryan Holman, a friend of hers who retold the story to Clinton when she campaigned in southern Ohio.

But court records show that Bechtel had a civil judgment against her by the Holzer Hospital Foundation for the amount of $4,426, entered in 2002, which was repaid in 2005. A call to an official at Holzer Medical Center, which is run by the foundation, in Ohio was not immediately returned.

Casto said her niece, who suffered from preeclampsia during her pregnancy, did not seek care at the first hospital she when she fell ill because she knew she did not have the $100 out-of-pocket she believed she would need to be seen. Instead, she went to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, where her baby was stillborn. Bechtel was later flown to Columbus and died there. She was 35.

Casto said she has been stunned by the amount of negative attention her niece’s story generated, and that she was sorry it had hurt the Clinton campaign. She was, and is, she said, a supporter. “Did I vote for Hillary?” she said. “You’d better bet I did.”

Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has picked up another superdelegate in Arkansas who said he’ll support the state’s former first lady.

Land Commissioner Mark Wilcox, who was selected last month as the Arkansas Democratic Party’s last remaining superdelegate to the national convention, said Monday he’s supporting the New York senator.

“I voted for her in the (primary) election and support her and that’s how at this time I feel I’m going to vote. … At this time, I’m supporting her,” Wilcox told The Associated Press.

Wilcox, who is serving his second term as land commissioner, said the only way he would probably change his mind is if Clinton drops out of the race before the convention this summer.

Wilcox’s support gives Clinton 11 of the state’s 12 superdelegates — members of Congress and other party leaders who are not selected in primaries and caucuses. The superdelegates supporting Clinton include Gov. Mike Beebe, who endorsed Clinton last year, and Sens. Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln.

The state’s three Democratic congressmen — Marion Berry, Mike Ross and Vic Snyder — are also superdelegates backing Clinton. Lottie Shackelford, a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, is the only superdelegate from Arkansas not committed to any candidate.

Shackelford, who has said she will not commit to a candidate before the convention, did not immediately return a call Monday afternoon.

Superdelegates are free to change their minds before the convention. Wilcox said he’s been reluctant to disclose who he is supporting because he doesn’t know what could change before the party’s convention, which will be held Aug. 25-28.

“Who knows what the convention is going to be? We all could support somebody else if it changes, like if she pulls out, we’ll have to support somebody else,” Wilcox said, who added that he could not think of a scenario where he’d change his mind short of Clinton exiting the race.

Clinton, who served as the state’s first lady for 12 years, overwhelmingly defeated Democratic rival Barack Obama in the Arkansas presidential primary in February. Clinton won 70 percent of the state’s vote to Obama’s 26 percent, according to the certified results.

For more information see Tuesday’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Congresswoman Darlene Hooley: “It is a cause worth fighting for.”
Chris Corbell
The official opening of Hillary Clinton’s Portland campaign office drew a crowd of supporters downtown tonight. The campaign staff – which will be growing throughout the state with seven offices – were all-hands-on-deck signing up volunteers, checking off items on the office wish list, and training everyone on the phone system.

Congresswoman Darlene Hooley, U.S. Representative for Oregon’s 5th District, urged supporters on with a speech detailing why she is committed to Senator Clinton’s historic run for the Presidency. Echoing one of the staffer’s given reasons for supporting Hillary – “to change the world” – Hooley celebrated the opportunity that Clinton supporters have in Oregon.

“For the first time in decades, Oregon’s vote will make a difference,” she said to enthusiastic applause and cheers of support.

Hooley celebrated the chance “to elect the first woman President of the United States. [Some may say] oh you’re just for her because she’s a woman – well I’m thrilled that she’s a woman but I’m voting for her because she knows how to do the job.”

Hooley related an account of several congressional representatives going to the White House during the administration of Bill Clinton to discuss a contentious issue. The President was unavailable, so Hillary Clinton met them, apologizing for the President’s absence but then delving into the issues. The group went away deeply impressed not only with Hillary’s knowledge and sincerity on the issues but also with her ability to diffuse contention.

“To me,” she explained, “that’s a person who knows how to get things done in the system…. Her breadth of knowledge, her depth of knowledge and understanding is incredible.”

Hooley stressed her feeling, shared by Hillary’s supporters, that Senator Clinton is the most qualified and capable candidate for President in the race, and that working for her cause means to work for the best possible President we can elect in 2008.

“I’d like to see our economy grow, and again I think that Senator Clinton is the only one who knows how to get that done.”

“I can’t think of a better person to be President than Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

Congresswoman Hooley urged all Hillary supporters to “believe that we can make this happen in this state. It is a cause worth fighting for.”

vonay,

He has surrounded himself and befriended, and admires racists, people who hates whites, Jews, and Italians, a terrorist William Ayers who Obama still is friends with ( according to the Obama campaign)

Obama is the racist along with his wife. They are anti American just like their church teaches them to be.

Obama might be ahead in the polls, but 50% of the Dems( HIllary supporters) will NOT vote for him in Nov. Hello President McCain.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Sen. Obama as well as Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain are aquainted with people of all kind. I
never heard him say he admires racists. The KKK , David Duke, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Strom Thrumond, Skinheads, most Fox supporters are racists. He does does not befriend or admire any of them. He does not hate whites, Jews and Italians many of these people are a part of his campaign. He knows Williams Ayers, but in working in Chicago he comes in contact with many people of all walks of life. If you got on a bus with bin Laden, who was clean shaven and in a business suit. If you sat next to him not knowing who he was does that mean you are his friend?
Neither Barack or Michele Obama are not racist. They are not anti-American. You seem to like to spread this hate rhetoric which is really an indication of your bigotry. You should stop spreading all this hate. Most intelligent people understand Rev. Wright’s speeches, they can read the entire sentence. They know the difference between a comma and a period. They are not narrow minded pseudo Americans. You are a prime example that Racism is alive and well in America.

Obama says he has more foreign policy experience than McCain or Clinton.
He points to living in Indonesia and having family in Kenya.
Seeing that he brought up his family in Kenya, I feel it is ok to discuss his family in Kenya..
Let’s start by discussing Odinga with him.
Google Odinga, Obama.
Obama said these comments at a fund-raiser.
Fox and Friends told Clinton of these comments this morning.
Clinton laughed and was nearly speechless.
She did say his record belies the statements made by Obama that he has more experience!
He was too busy campaigning to worry about NATO.

Senator Obama can build a campaign war chest of 1 Billion dollars and gather 100 % of the Super Delegates and he will still finish a distant 2nd to Senator mcCain without the backing of Florida’s Hillary Supporters like myself.

McCain will win in 2008 and we will regroup for the 2012 Election. At that time either Hillary,if she chooses to run, or someone other than Senator Obama will take on the Republican’s choice. Way too much has transpired, including Obama’s camp labeling the Clintons and their supporters as racist, to suggest that we should support him.

Senator Clinton has run a pretty embarassing campaign that has us all shaking their heads but we’re not racists and to label us as such is unforgivable. The Florida polls with McCain vs Obama have McCain with a double digit lead. We intend to make that prediction come true and we believe it will spell defeat for Obama. He and his supporters can credit themselves with the results.

As they say in the Commercial ” LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST.”

Kathmandu – I did google it, which is why I asked where on earth you got that statistic. What I found was more along the lines of 39 percent of parents on welfare are White, 37 percent Black, 18 percent Hispanic and 6 percent Asian, Native American or another race. Whites are still at the top in most of what I read, but please do not fabricate or cherry pick your statistics. “I got them off of the internet”, is not too definitive of an answer.

Here is something from the beloved liberal NY Times: Since the city’s rolls peaked in March 1995, the number of whites on welfare has fallen 57 percent. That is nearly twice the 30 percent rate of decline for blacks. And it is nearly eight times the decline for Hispanic recipients, which is just 7 percent, lagging the declines for blacks and whites as it has nationwide. The city’s welfare rolls are now 5 percent white, 33 percent black and 59 percent Hispanic.

Does it really matter what race receives more welfare anyways? My question is why do we even HAVE welfare. It drags down ALL races who are on it. It is not always given to those who truly need it. It promotes an easier, but not as fulfilling, way of life. What we should rely on for help for those who TRULY need it is charity.

I was just talking to my mother-in-law, who told me a story of a woman she worked with who had one child and then went back to work. She just had another child and told my mother-in-law she will not be returning to work because in the long run, she will be better off with welfare and other such handouts. Why work? Some people truly need help, and they should receive it. However, they should not get it from a bureaucracy knee deep in red tape. Charity handles charity better than our government. PERIOD.

Dear Connie,

Coming from someone who gets theirs news from Fox for a living (a news channel founded by a Republican campaign adviser and hatchetman) I have to say that I find your advice is amusing. Here’s an idea, why don’t you stop listening to your very partisan Republican talk show hosts for a living, and think for yourself? Doesn’t it disturb you, at all, that the reporters used by your favorite news channel are proven journalist frauds? That Carl Cameron fabricated quotes by John Kerry in the 2004 election, that Brit Hume practically blacklists Democratis or liberals from his so-called “all star panel” (kondracke, barnes, krauthammer–all Republicans) or that the Fox News channel’s vice president, John Moody, actually had to circulate an internal memo the day after the Republican Party’s defeat in the 2006 midterms telling his own employees to calm down, and that it “isn’t the end of the world”. That’s how juvenile and spoiled the Republican brats at Fox News are.

Do yourself a favor and turn your advice on its head, and try it for yourself.

“To all you college students that listen well to your very liberal professers, think for yourselfs

I am so amazed that most of the people on these blogs actually get a chance to vote with the way you think or process information. You keeping using that pastor wright situation (most likely without listening to the whole sermon rather than a 1 or 2 min clip based on someone’s 30 years of service) that really shows who the person is. Yet none of you mention the Rev. that was on McCain’s website, introduce him for a speech and McCain mentioned he was one of his spiritual leaders (came out of his mouth), closeminded Hypocrites, he said just as racial comments. One was pure hate and the other informing us on the struggles has faced and many continue to face but no one is there to help. We have to understand and look past our differences in order to focus on the real issues at hand. You say he has empty promises but he has been able to bring people together from all parties, Dem, Indep, even Rep that are willing to listen first before judging. However, Clinton, fox news, blogs like this and extreme right winged host has been doing everything they can to destroy his name. If you think Obama is racist and not these radio and tv host, you are out of your mind and need help. He knows what its like to be middle class and well off, white and black, struggle and succeed, and etc. He made the best judgement call when it came to the most important decision (War) this country will have to face for years to come, yet you say he lacks judgement or experience. If you continue to allow all of this negative foolishness that the media has always used to creat fear than you will forever be stuck in the past. If you can believe what fox news and these extreme right wing say, than you are the ones brain washed. You need to open your mind, do your own research, really listen to what all three canidates want to accomplish and choose the one that will care for your needs, not in any particular order 1. Economy 2. Education. 3. War 4. health care 5. bridge the gap 6. bring the country together 7. provide jobs 8. foreign policy 9. immigration 10. poverty and ect. These are the criteria you should base your vote on not fear or media nonesense that even bush used to his advantage to win. Its 2008 and you would think that the American people are more educated than this……and those who base their vote on independant research to compare with the media I know you will agree with me. Our issues are not going to be solved if we continue to allow fear and emotion decide for us. This is a Historical moment in US history; Do you want to continue taking steps backward or move to a new direction that this country desperately needs? When you compare the three canidates; who do you believe in you heart and mind truly cares for the people of the country, because they are all qualified to be president. The way they have been running their campaign should give you a hint on how they are going to run the country, but this would be difficult for some to understand.

…………………………………………..

That’s because, Kevin, you’re not looking at the source and the context.

Obama is saying that the behaviour he described in his speech on race (which should have been a speech on his poor judgment)is that of a “typical white woman”. He perceives most white women as behaving like his grandmother. This is a man who wants to “unite” a nation. I have news for him. The USA is united, he shouldn’t doubt that. And he wants an entire nation to trust him as a president after he describes that behaviour and attributes it to “typical white women”? It’s not the words that are offensive. It’s his offering a stereotype and his rationale for it. You getting it now?

Now juxtapose that with his description from one of his books “typical African American”. His want to paint people with a broad brush aside, he displays a distinct difference in wording and conotation.

Obama is unelectable.

I have asked time and time again for anyone to disprove what rev. wright has said and yet, I never get a bonafide response. I wonder why? I think it is because they chose to listen to only the information FOX has given them. No one has taken the time to research or view the entire sermon or really seek to know what the church that has over 9,000 people attending. Not only have they discredited rev. wright but also the members of this church who comprise of the have and the have nots, they have local news reporters, judges, teachers, lawyers, professors, doctors and people on welfare,

This church as within the last three years alone, been responsible for placing over 400 students in colleges, they have over 70 ministries, two senior citizens home, building a school, a daycare program, and higher learning building. Rev. Wright has four docturate degrees, eight honorary and a scholar of the bible and is also lectures across america, and has written books, but no one wants to give him credit for all that he as accomplished during his 36 years of preaching. I believe it is a great dishonest to portray him and the church as a cult, or a bunch of anti-americans and use them as scape goats to discredit obama. There are dangerous people in this world that are mentally challenged and because of the media, the church and rev. wright has been threaten with bombs, and threats of killing.

When someone uses a position of teaching to spout delusions like AIDS invented to kill black people, Israel and South Africa inventing a bomb to kill arabs and black people, the USofKKKA, White oppressors, “rich white people”…ad nauseum, the words speak for themselves. Wright is a deluded bigot. You defend the indefensible.

As for your assertion on McCain let me correct your “quote”…McCain described Parsely as “a spiritual leader”, not HIS. Furthermore, McCain has a superficial relationship with him whereas Obama has sat and broken bread with Wright for 20 YEARS. Wright inspired one of his books. Obama describes Wright as an “uncle and a mentor”. BIG DIFFERENCE. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

I’m vindicated by Colin Powell’s response to one of Wright’s speeches in 2002 when he walked out on Wright’s speech citing anti-semitism. Seems Powell agrees with the rest of the country on Wright.

I’ll say it again…you defend the indefensible.

Although blacks account for only 12 percent of the U.S. population, 44 percent of all prisoners in the United States are black (Figure 1).

A. The 100-to-1 Quantity Rat io and Disproport ionat e Racial Impact The federal criminal penalty structure for the possession and distribution of crack cocaine is one hundred times more severe than the penalty structure relating to powder cocaine. Possession of five grams of crack cocaine carries the same penalty as distribution of 500 grams of powder cocaine. This is commonly referred to as a “100- to-1 quantity ratio.” For example, a first time offender tried in federal court and found in possession of five grams of crack cocaine would be subject to a mandatory felony
sentence of at least five years in prison without parole. Possession of the same amount
of powder cocaine, a misdemeanor, requires no prison time. A person convicted of
fifty or even 499 grams of powder cocaine would face a maximum penalty of one year
in prison. It takes trafficking in 500 grams of powder cocaine to receive the same sentence
as one convicted of simple possession of five grams of crack cocaine.
In its Special Report to Congress, the United States Sentencing Commission pronounced
that “federal sentencing data leads to the inescapable conclusion that blacks
comprise the largest percentage of those affected by the penalties associated with
crack cocaine.” Nationwide statistics compiled by the Commission revealed that
blacks were more likely to be convicted of crack cocaine offenses, while whites were
more likely to be convicted of powder cocaine offenses. In 1994, 96.5% of those sentenced
federally for crack cocaine offenses were non-white. The Commission’s 2000
Source of Federal Sentencing Statistics revealed that 84.2% of blacks were convicted
of crack cocaine cases, as compared with 5.7% whites. Asserting that these statistics
do “not mean … that the penalties are racially motivated,” the Commission nevertheless
found that the high percentage of blacks convicted of crack cocaine offenses is
“a matter of great concern.”
This concern was accentuated

Want to guess what color the criminals were? All Black. The blacks commit most of the crimes in this country and you are either an idiot or a liar to deny it. It’s suprising to me that the prison population isn’t at a much higher percentage. It is only the fairly new factor of Latin gang Violence that keeps the balack population at such a low rate.

how long can the black mothers and fathers continue to condone the crimes of their children and try to pass it off as the result of being held down for so long. The percentage of black crime can only grow because the fathers and mothers of this generation are criminals themselves.

We are never going to get anywhere by being and staying diverse. Diversity is difference. Celebrating diversity is about staying diverse in our beliefs. This is not unification. It is ok for people to have diverse origins. (Modern day illegal immigration is not OK). In America the Melting Pot, we need to melt together and become one COHESIVE unit and culture for our society to funtion and work and have validity. COHESIVENESS TRIUMPHS OVER DIVERSITY.

You try living in a community where you don’t have adquate books, schools and doctors for your child or family, you try struggling every day to care for your children. There are no community centers, no programs available that the average working class low to middle income household can afford to send their children while they work, Many of the schools are overcrowded and If you live in a community where your future looks bleak and no matter how hard you try, things don’t work out, Many of those kids who were shot were living in two parent home, they had to live in a community with other children who were left to fend for themselves either because the parents had to work and had no supervision or because the parent just didn’t care. Yes, I blame the parents, but I also understand how hard it is to raise a child in a area that is filled with dispair and injustice.

Then I suggest you begin by telling Obama the same thing. He’s the one painting cultures with a broad brush.
======================

I’m sure he regrets that. We all miss-speak. We must get over that. A lot of people would like to keep hammering on the same things. As Americans we are a diverse cultural society. Black people do embrace their African heritage. Jews embrace their Jewish heritage. White’s embrace their European heritage. We should celebrate are differences and not consider it anti-American.
I love going to the many differernt festivals, eating foods of different countries, learning different dances. It’s a lot of fun. I travel a lot and have been to about 40 different countries and five different continents. I love all people and love learning about different cultures. We spend too much time hating and not enough time understanding. Obama has made some mistakes, we should be able to forgive him. Clinton has made some mistakes, we should be able to forgive her.
McCain has made some mistakes, we should be able to forgive him. As Americans, we are family.

Today’s morning news reported 5 or 6 overnight crimes. a drive by shooting, a drowning of a girl friends child, a hit and run killing a small child, a wendy’s robbery where the manager was beaten, a shooting involving a cop.

Heard somewhere that Rupert Murdoch’s wife is chinese.

Please for heaven’s sake put AMERICA FIRST. 600000 americans died in civil war, more than a million died in both the WORLD WARS fighting to liberate the helpless. Tibet is helpless, it needs our help. China is a barking dog, which can’t bite. History proves that. Ask japenese WW II soldiers about that.

ONLY COWARDS IN AMERICA WILL SIDE WITH CHINESE.

My grandparents (on both sides) fought to destroy the Axis powers in WW II. They knew their living can be destroyed by indulging in that war. But they did it anyhow because helping Helpless is a christian thing to do.

One day that frustrated child that grew up with no food, no education and no one to care for them might one day come into your neighborhood and release all that built up frustration within your community.

My pastor said once “what happens to one of us happens to all.” So instead of putting black people you better think of how to change things before your child becomes the victim. I really don’t care who is president as long as they are willing to address poverty and all our children in america.

I am reminded of something I read, Many white people who felt that slavery was wrong tried to teach black people to read and write. they had to do this secretly because the slave owners knew that if black people were educated that they would began to resist them. The slave owners knew their good time would come to an end. I believe white people are afraid of obama because they fear that their good time will come to an end, no longer will they control america, they might have to share some of what should have been shared when black people helped to build america.

A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people.

At first these white people breathed a sigh of relief.

“At last”, they said, “no more crime, drugs, violence and welfare.”

All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The “NEW AMERICA” is not America at all – only a barren land.

1. There are very few crops that have flourished because the nation was built on a slave-supported system.

2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils, a black man, invented the elevator, and without it, one finds great difficulty reaching higher floors.

3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man, invented the automatic gearshift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented the Super Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A. Morgan, a black man,
invented the traffic signals.

4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because its procurer was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson.

5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American, Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper.

6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and books because John Love invented the pencil sharpener, William Purveys invented the fountain pen, and Lee Barrage invented the Type Writing Machine and W. A. Love invented the
Advanced Printing Press. They were all, you guessed it, Black.

7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they would not have been transported by mail because William Barry invented the Postmarking and Canceling Machine, William Purveys invented the Hand Stamp and Philip Downing invented the Letter Drop.

8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph Smith invented the Lawn Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower.

9. When they entered their homes, they found them to be poorly ventilated and poorly heated. You see, Frederick Jones invented the Air Conditioner and Alice Parker the Heating Furnace. Their homes were also dim. But of course, Lewis
Lattimer later invented the Electric Lamp, Michael Harvey invented the lantern, and Granville T. Woods invented the Automatic Cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W. Steward invented the Mop and Lloyd P. Ray the Dust Pan.

10. Their children met them at the door – barefooted, shabby, motley and unkempt. But what could one expect? Jan E. Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lasting Machine, Walter Sammons invented the Comb, Sarah Boone invented the Ironing Board, and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer.

11. Finally, they were resigned to at least have dinner amidst all of this turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled because another Black Man, John Standard invented the refrigerator.

Now, isn’t that something? What would this country be like without the contributions of Blacks, as African-Americans?

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “by the time we leave for work, millions of Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks.”

Black history includes more than just slavery, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Marcus Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois.

You know, he’s really stupid when he doesn’t have a teleprompter in front of him. I wonder if Axelrod has arranged for one to be set up to help poor Obama ask an intelligent question. If we’re lucky, before he begins his questions, obama will remind Petraeous along with the rest of the senators that the vast foreign knowledge that he gained from living in Indonesia from the time he was 6 yrs old to 10 years old makes him more qualified to ask questions then Hillary. Oh pretty please! Let him say it again!!

That is like telling a child who was kidnapped from their mother, beaten, raped and forced into slavery for years, forced to tend to the yard, allow the slave master to rape her daily, take her baby and sell it, beat her man, use the children that she is allowed to keep and make them build their home. One day she is allowed to walk free, but she is given nothing for all the years she was a slave and forced to live in on a piece of rotten land to live out her days while up the hill lives the slave master in their big home and all the riches that she helped to build.

She watches her children who happen to be the offspring of that rich white slave owner up the hill can’t call him daddy because his white children and white wife don’t like it, so they watch their brothers and sisters grow up with land and property and money they inherited from their father while they lived down the road in poverty and uneducated. If she complains about her condition, she is told to get over it, you are free now; could you?

If you are going to be in NYC for the event please let me know so that I can give you the location and I can have an idea of how many of us there will be.

For those of us from the Forum, it would be nice if our signs could be somewhat uniformed… by that I mean how they are constructed, color them, word them design them however, but I just want to know how many posts, etc to get.

Also, if there is anyone who can come to the Rally, but can not make a sign, I will do it for you if you like.

If there is anyone out here who wants to come to NYC from somewhere else and would like some assistance in doing that, then please email me or PM about it.

come on bro get with reality…that in the long run will help with race relations. we love you kev.

Donations for Protest on April 11 – This is Our Suggestion…

——————————————————————————–

OK… there’s no good way to set up Paypal because it involves either someone’s personal account or their business account.

So, I’m making a trade with everyone.

I’m going to host a sign making party for those of us from the Forum who will be there and in exchange for my getting all the supplies we need….

I’m asking for people to do extra blogging, write the media, get the word out or donate directly to HRC campaign (via the forum referral link below).

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/contribute/H4K5

If you are going to be in NYC for the event please let me know so that I can give you the location and I can have an idea of how many of us there will be.

For those of us from the Forum, it would be nice if our signs could be somewhat uniformed… by that I mean how they are constructed, color them, word them design them however, but I just want to know how many posts, etc to get.

Also, if there is anyone who can come to the Rally, but can not make a sign, I will do it for you if you like.

If there is anyone out here who wants to come to NYC from somewhere else and would like some assistance in doing that, then please email me or PM about it.

Interesting, the more you look, the more there are…

The other ones have different dates, as if the articles were coming out but were trying to be buried:

Thats nice, never been to DC, maybe someday

My point is, my freinds, of different nationalities are people of the future, good people that always strive to better themselves, we dont talk about the past, we talk about the future, and we dont talk about race because none of us care what race the other one is, were just freinds and respect each other for who we are inside, not out.

ALL YOU REPUBLICANS, WHO THINK IF HILLARY DOESN’T GET THE NOMINATION, THEN HER SUPPORTERS WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA.

TRUTH BE KNOWN, I BEING A BIG OBAMA CRITIC, WOULD PREFER OBAMA BEFORE ANY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE.

FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY, WE NEED TO HAVE A “DEMOCRAT” IN WHITE HOUSE.

Comment by Brenda in SCb

It seems that the youth of America thinks of Obama as some sort of MLK which he is NOT. He has not and can not unite America. Not because he is African American but because he is Anti-American.
I think if anyone is a racist it is his wife, read her thesis, listen to her comments. How can someone with such a low opinion of American be our first lady?

By the way, what exactly does Obama stand for? Everytime there has been a debate, he has gone along with Hillary on most of her ideas of trade, foreign policy etc. He hasn’t really had any of his own ideas. He hasn’t said he would pay for things.

Hillary is an intelligent woman – and the joke with the parachutes was less than funny, feeling a bit initimated by having a woman in the White House are we?

As far as living in the East Coast, not sure what that has to do with it? We are probably much better informed since our states have been around a bit longer and we all so much closer to the Nations Capital….

Having lived in DC grown up in the error of Bobby Kennedy and MLK, heard them speak in public, Obama is NO – Bobby Kennedy or MLK. For the record Bobby Kennedy Jr is backing Hillary. Martin
Luther King never tried to make black Americans out to be victims. He spoke of gaining equality in a peaceful way. He didn’t speak the hatred of Meeks, Fulkahan, Wright, the weatherman, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and this time of ignorance that creates more hatred.

I do believe there should be equality and that is is all – equality – no more for one race than the other. There doesn’t need to be a Black America or a White America, there just needs to be One Nation Under God….

Vote Hillary.

whites and blacks have invented things for kevin to say otherwise is just stupid. Indian also Chinese all races have invented things some good some bad so if we list all inventions we will come to the conclusion that the”HUMAN” race has come a long way.

For someone to list only one shows how bias they are. I think his comment is stupid without other races African American would still be bond like in other countries all races in America have come through some kind of hel* to be where we are today.

kevin I hope you open your eyes.

It is the context of the person not the color. Obama didn’t even honor MLK jr he was too busy campaigning, He didn’t go to vote a lot because he was too busy campaigning, He was too busy campaigning when a lot of votes were being counted. He think foreign affairs and military is one in the same. someone should explain to him they are different. Before you start throwing stones make sure you don’t live in a glass house. Peace Out.

Stick to the argument and try not to get cute. What if I suggested your use of White People really meant all white people commit crimes.

Fact, M O S T Black people use the past as a crutch and a reason for underachieving. You can deny it until you’re blue in the face and you’d be lying or just a person who is isolated from the black population. Just because you can point to those that you know personally that have achieved doesn’t mean much. My list would be fairly long because I work in a City where many are black and I have many black customers and co workers. But my good list would be dwarfed by the general population of those black people who are content to blame the past for thier problems and resort to crime and violence. The ironic part of all of this is that my good list is proof positve that one can indeed overcome. Most don’t try.

Kevin says:
I have asked time and time again for anyone to disprove what rev. wright has said and yet, I never get a bonafide response. I wonder why? I think it is because they chose to listen to only the information FOX has given them.

You are right Kevin. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to disprove our government created AIDS to get rid of African Americans, or that our government made “crack” to do the same, or if we really are the U.S.KKK of A., or if Bill “did” Monica just like he “did” the African Americans.

You probably need to realize that the reason that these cannot be proven or disproven is because they are REVEREND WRIGHT’S OPINIONS. I think you also need to realize that whether his opinions were true or untrue was not what angered Americans, but rather it was his hatred and classification of ALL WHITE PEOPLE into one group. My ancestors were not in America during the time of slavery, but I am classified in a group with all of the other “white” people he hates. He is grouping all white Americans together just as the KKK was grouping all African Americans together.

this is a excerpt of dr. wright’s sermon on confusing god with the government

“The election was stolen. We went from an intelligent friend to a dumb Dixiecrat. A rich Republican who has never held a job in his life; is against affirmative action (and) against education – I guess he is; against healthcare, against benefits for his own military, and gives tax breaks to the wealthiest contributors to his campaign. Governments change. Sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the bad.”
“Where governments change, God does not change. God is the same yesterday, today and forever more. That’s what his name I Am means. He does not change.”
“God was against slavery on yesterday, and God, who does not change, is still against slavery today. God was a God of love yesterday, and God who does not change, is still a God of love today. God was a God of justice on yesterday, and God who does not change, is still a God of justice today.”
“God does not change.”
3. He then speaks of the government in his Bible text and said the Romans failed. Then he said the British government failed even after it colonized the world. He said the Russian government failed. The Japanese government failed. The German government failed.
“And the United States of America government, when it came to treating her citizens of Indian descent, she failed. She put them on reservations.”
“When it came to putting her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in interment prison camps.”
“When it came to putting the citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains. The government put them on slave quarters. Put them on auction blocks. Put them in cotton fields. Put them in inferior schools. Put them in substandard housing. Put them scientific experiments. Put them in the lower paying jobs. Put them outside the equal protection of the law. Kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education, and locked them into positions of hopelessness and helplessness.”

For every one Condi-Skeezer Rice, you’ve got 1 million in prison. For every one Tiger Woods, who needs to get beat at the Masters, with his Cablanasian hips, playing on a course that discriminates against women, God has this way of brining you up short when you get to big for your Cablanasian britches. For every one Tiger Woods, we’ve got 10,000 black kids who will never see a golf course. The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent.”

Where is the gain?

If that is true, why are Bush’s approval ratings low?

At least Bush’s approval ratings are higher than the democratic controlled congress.

Perhaps that was what Kennedy was refering to?

that man took a church that started with 35 members and turned it into 10,000, it is the largest african american church within a denomination of white people. If he was such a racist, why do you think the united church of christ would not have taken him down? They defend him.

Dr. wright has lectured across the world and written many books, in fact for years, he gave up his salary back to the church and lived off the profits of his own work. I guess you believe the church is some small church in the middle of a slum area, you are wrong!

Trinity United Church of Christ has members that are elected officials, prominent lawyers, police officers, news reporters, doctors, professors, some celebrities, judges, as well as people of low-income and on public aid. If you knew anything about the church, then you would know about the 70 ministriest established by dr. wright that deals with every social issue within the community, Also that church has been responsible for putting over 400 students in college within the last three years. I wish you would go to the library or go to a book store and research liberation theology, not what you read on the internet. Also, Dr. Martin Luther King studied liberation theology too, and one more thing, the man that dr. wright chose to succeed him is the son of a preacher who co-pastored with dr. king.

I’m sure he regrets that.

When Dr. King was alive, he was considered as one of the most dangerous man in america by j.edger hoover, people did not want him to speak, they protested against him and tried to discredit him. It wasn’t until his death did people appreciate what he said and if you read any of his speeches you will see for yourself.

“The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent. Think about this. Think about this. For every one Oprah, a billionaire, you’ve got 5 million blacks that are out of work. For every one Colin Powell, a millionaire, you’ve got 10 million blacks who cannot read.

Obama seems to have a soft spot for Kenya maybe they can take up the governmental handholding you’d like. And referring to Dr Rice in such a derogatory way isn’t making you look all that convincing.

this is an excerpt from dr. king’s

I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a “thing-oriented” society to a “person-oriented” society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.
A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. n the one hand we are called to play the good Samaritan on life’s roadside; but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life’s highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth. With righteous indignation, it will look across the seas and see individual capitalists of the West investing huge sums of money in Asia, Africa and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of the countries, and say: “This is not just.” It will look at our alliance with the landed gentry of Latin America and say: “This is not just.” The Western arrogance of feeling that it has everything to teach others and nothing to learn from them is not just. A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war: “This way of settling differences is not just.” This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation’s homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into veins of people normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice and love. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.
America, the richest and most powerful nation in the world, can well lead the way in this revolution of values. There is nothing, except a tragic death wish, to prevent us from reordering our priorities, so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war. There is nothing to keep us from molding a recalcitrant status quo with bruised hands until we have fashioned it into a brotherhood.

more from dr. king’s speech

This Madness Must Cease
Somehow this madness must cease. We must stop now. I speak as a child of God and brother to the suffering poor of Vietnam. I speak for those whose land is being laid waste, whose homes are being destroyed, whose culture is being subverted. I speak for the poor of America who are paying the double price of smashed hopes at home and death and corruption in Vietnam. I speak as a citizen of the world, for the world as it stands aghast at the path we have taken. I speak as an American to the leaders of my own nation. The great initiative in this war is ours. The initiative to stop it must be ours.
This is the message of the great Buddhist leaders of Vietnam. Recently one of them wrote these words:
“Each day the war goes on the hatred increases in the heart of the Vietnamese and in the hearts of those of humanitarian instinct. The Americans are forcing even their friends into becoming their enemies. It is curious that the Americans, who calculate so carefully on the possibilities of military victory, do not realize that in the process they are incurring deep psychological and political defeat. The image of America will never again be the image of revolution, freedom and democracy, but the image of violence and militarism.”
If we continue, there will be no doubt in my mind and in the mind of the world that we have no honorable intentions in Vietnam. It will become clear that our minimal expectation is to occupy it as an American colony and men will not refrain from thinking that our maximum hope is to goad China into a war so that we may bomb her nuclear installations. If we do not stop our war against the people of Vietnam immediately the world will be left with no other alternative than to see this as some horribly clumsy and deadly game we have decided to play.
The world now demands a maturity of America that we may not be able to achieve. It demands that we admit that we have been wrong from the beginning of our adventure in Vietnam, that we have been detrimental to the life of the Vietnamese people. The situation is one in which we must be ready to turn sharply from our present ways.
In order to atone for our sins and errors in Vietnam, we should take the initiative in bringing a halt to this tragic war. I would like to suggest five concrete things that our government should do immediately to begin the long and difficult process of extricating ourselves from this nightmarish conflict:

If McCain would start taking a more conservative view on issues, especially illegal immigration and let it be known, I would be happy to make a generous donation to his campaign. I will vote for him as I see him as the better candidate considering the other 2 are Socialist.

70% or Americans don’t want amnesty for illegals and they want their elected officials to quit the ‘ ‘anchor baby’ law and other benefits to illegals that is draining the social security fund. If he would start talking that talk and walk the walk, he might get a lot more voters and donations. This is an issue he won’t lose his beloved independents or crossover dems. on. But because of the liberal media most people think that this issue is a loser because they push it so hard when the pro-amnesty Latinos march.

from another blog

Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim for 31 years and is a master at shaping his own mythology.

In Obama’s famous 2004 DNC Convention speech, he said “”My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya. He grew up herding goats, went to school in a tin-roof shack. His father — my grandfather — was a cook, a domestic servant to the British.”

In fact, Obama’s grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama was a prominent and wealthy farmer from Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya. He was part of the British colonial system, owned a large ranch and was one of the first Muslim converts in his village. His son, Barack (changed from Baraka, an Arabic word meaning blessed) Hussein Obama Sr. was a child of privilege, not privation. He was an outstanding student, not a herdsman.

Like other children of privilege, Obama’s father was a person with access to the highest levels of government in Kenya and as a result of those connections was able to come to America to study in 1958 at the age of twenty-three.

His scholarship, to the University of Hawaii at Manoa, was organized by a former Kenyan cabinet minister, the late Tom Mboya, who was earmarked as Jomo Kenyatta’s successor. Kenyatta, president of the Kenya African Union and the country’s leading nationalist leader, was charged with managing the Mau Mau terrorist society in Kenya and sentenced to seven years hard labor along with five others.

The senior Obama married a fellow student, eighteen year old Shirley Ann (Anna) Dunham of Wichita, Kansas. Dunham was an anthropology student. Obama Jr. was born on August 4th, 1961, in Honolulu.

Two years later, the senior Obama divorced Dunham according to Sharia law and returned to Kenya the same year that Kenyatta took control as the first prime minister of a self-governing Kenya (June 1963). He became an economist and a powerful member of Kenyatta’s government which was one of the most corrupt regimes in Africa. The Mau Mau was finally banned by the Kenyan government in August 2003 (one year before Obama’s DNC speech).

Was Obama lying when he said, “My parents shared not only an improbable love, they shared an abiding faith in the possibilities of this nation,” in his famous speech? After all, his father abandoned him to return to the secret shame of Kenyatta’s history of rape, murder and arson.”

Obama’s father died in a driving accident in 1982, leaving three wives, six sons and a daughter.

Obama’s mother remarried. Again, she chose another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo, who worked as an official of the Director General’s office in the TNI Topography division of the Indonesian Army. Soetoro took Dunham and Obama to Indonesia, the most densely populated Islamic country in the world. An American Expat in Southeast Asia reports that according to Maya Soetoro, Obama’s stepsister and daughter of Lolo and Anna, Obama lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for five years, from 1968-1973.

Obama’s early schooling began when he was entered into the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Asisi Primary School on 1 January 1968 and sat in class 1B. He was registered under the name Barry Soetoro, serial number 203. School documents listed Barry Soetoro as an Indonesian citizen and his religion was listed as Islam.

Barry attended the Asisi Primary School for three years until class three. When his family moved from H Ramir Street to Dempo Street, he attended the Besuki Primary School, a government school, for one year. He was enrolled as a Muslim.

A government primary school in Indonesia is not quite as secular as one in the west might imagine. In fact, Islam plays a very important role in Indonesian schools and a foreigner might be surprised to find out that religious classes are compulsory for all Indonesian students.

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young Barry Soetoro, being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school. He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.

Obama attended two schools in Indonesia and in both he was enrolled as a Muslim — but — was he a practicing Muslim? The evidence seems to show that both Ann Dunham and her husband Lolo were devout Muslims themselves and they raised their son as such.

Classmate Rony Amiris describes young Barry as enjoying playing football and marbles and of being a very devout Muslim. Amir said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya … all of the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”

“We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house. If he was wearing a sarong he looked funny,” said Rony.

Rony Amiris now the manager of the Bank Mandiri, Jakarta, recently said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children. All the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”

Rony extrapolates further, that Obama at one point had to change his religion if he ever intended later to run for the office of President of the United States because America would never elect a muslim to the be President of the United States.

On 22 January 2007, family friend Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, was quoted as saying, “He (Obama) was often in the prayer room wearing a ’sarong’, at that time, he was quite religious in Islam but only after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”

Obama and Michelle Robinson of Chicago, Illinois were married on October 18, 1992. 1992 was also the year Obama converted to Christianity. Born in 1961 as a Muslim, Obama’s conversion in 1993 means that Obama was a Muslim for 31 years. He’s been an apostate Muslim since.

The comments by Garuda Indonesia’s CEO perhaps can give a glimpse into the hearts and the desires of all Indonesians (especially those who knew him) and that is, that not only did he change his name from Barry Soetoro to a more Islamic name Barack Hussein Obama but he remained a Muslim all his life and that his later conversion was perhaps not sincere — that he only changed his religion only so that he could marry Michelle.

Obama might not have attended a radical Muslim school, as some have claimed, but evidence shows that he has not been completely forthcoming on his Muslim heritage and upbringing. It also shows that Obama has been focused like a laser beam on the presidency for a long time.

Iis Darmawan, 63, Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. “He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’” the teacher said.

When his mother divorced her second Muslim husband, Dunham sent Obama to live with his maternal grandmother in Honolulu. The teenager lived with his grandparents — “white folk,” as he describes them — and attended the prestigious Punahou School, the school of Hawaii’s royalty. It was during this period that Barry Soetoro became Barack Hussein Obama.

Dunham remained in Indonesia.

In his book, “Dreams from My Father,” Obama wrote of his mother, “She was a lonely witness for secular humanism, a soldier for the New Deal and the Peace Corps.” In his book, “The Audacity of Hope,” (pp 202-203), Obama wrote that she was “always too rational and too stubborn to accept anything she couldn’t see, feel, touch or count.” She was the quintessential secular humanist, he told Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter and Daren Briscoe.

Julia Suryakusuma, the author of Sex, Power and Nation, says that Ann was one of her closest friends from 1981 until her death of ovarian cancer in 1995. Suryakusuma, wrote in the Jakarta Post, “Ann was an anthropologist. Her doctorate research was on cottage industries in Java and she had a deep love for this country.” In a later paragraph, she writes, “I think she would also see Barry as a great inspiration for Indonesia, her (Dunham’s) adopted home.”Obama then studied for two years at Occidental College in California before transferring to Columbia College, the undergraduate division of Columbia University, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations and graduated in 1983.

Obama then worked for Business International from January 1984 to January 1985. After that he worked as a community organizer at a Chicago housing project, Altgeld Gardens, after which, in 1988, Obama went to Harvard Law School. in 1990 he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review.

Kenneth W. Mack, a fellow member of the Law Review, now a law professor at Harvard, said Obama stood out from the beginning. “He seemed more mature,” Mack said. “Everyone understood he was a liberal. He didn’t hide that.”

Abner Mikva, a five-term congressman from Illinois who was at that time Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit, tried to recruit Obama as a clerk, a position considered a stepping stone to clerking on the Supreme Court, but Obama turned him down.

“He could have gone to the most opulent of law firms,” David Axelrod, a longtime friend who is now Obama’s media adviser, said. “After Harvard, Obama could have done anything he wanted.” What he wanted was to practice civil-rights law in Chicago, and he did, representing victims of housing and employment discrimination and working on voting-rights legislation for a small public-interest firm. He also began teaching at the University of Chicago Law School, although he declined to pursue a tenure-track post, hoping to save time for politics.

And when he got the chance to run for the state senate in his district, which included both Hyde Park—the home of the university—and some of the poorest ghettos on the South Side, he jumped at it.

Loeb University Professor Laurence H. Tribe taught Obama and employed him as a research assistant. He remembers him as a “brilliant, personable, and obviously unique” person. Tribe said that Obama’s theoretical perspective on applying modern physics to law was “very impressive.”

“He is obviously a serious intellectual as well as a fantastic campaigner who can reach across boundaries,” Tribe said. “He will make an extraordinarily fine president.”

David B. Wilkins , the Kirkland and Ellis professor of law, said he advised Obama to become a Supreme Court Clerk. “Obama recognized the honor in pursuing that post,” Wilkins said, but quickly added that he wasn’t interested.

“He said that he wanted to write a book about his life and his father, go back to Chicago, get back into the community, and run for office there. He knew exactly what he wanted and went about getting it done,” Wilkins said.

The one thread, that remains consistent, throughout Obama’s life is his teachers, mentors and friends recollection of Obama’s single-minded pursuit of high political office.

It was during this time that Obama joined the Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC). Oprah Winfrey and Howard Dean are also members of the UCC and on October 29, 2006, Dallas’s Cathedral of Hope, known as the “world’s largest gay church,” was accepted into the UCC.

Trinity has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa, is committed to the historical education of African people in diaspora and committed to liberation, restoration, and economic parity.

At the UCC General Synod in 2005, the denomination adopted a resolution calling for “equal marriage rights for all” – regardless of gender. This includes homosexuals and transgendered individuals.

Trinity is very anti-Israel and supports divestment. It is also unique among UCC churches nationwide in its black value system which requires commitment to the black community and family, adherence to the “black work ethic” and disavowal of the pursuit of “middleclassness.” It also states members must make a pledge to gift the black community with members’ learned skills and personal resources. They also must pledge allegiance to “all black leadership who espouse and embrace the black value system.”

Note: To appreciate the racism of the Black Value System, read its 12 precepts and covenantal statements (link above) , substituting the word white for black. Additionally, item 8, “Disavowal of the Pursuit of ‘Middleclassness’” is kind of an interesting concept. I’ve Googled the phrase and can find no description of its meaning. Could it mean that Trinity wants African-Americans to remain poor and indebted to the Democratic Party?

The question needs to be asked, was Obama’s conversion faith-based or political expediency? In either case, Muslims view Obama as first a Muslim and as an apostate Muslim, he faces the death penalty in nearly the entire Islamic world.

There is no dispute among either ancient or modern Muslim scholars that under Islamic law, a murtadd, “one who turns his back on Islam,” an apostate, must be put to death. Irtidad, apostasy, is committing treason against God, and traitors deserve to be killed. At a minimum, other Muslims would shun him if not kill him and his mother. The fact they are eagerly welcomed by the Muslim community begs the question, is he their ‘Manchurian’ candidate?

At a minimum, Obama should be asked if he will support the efforts of Christian missionaries in Islamic countries to peacefully convert Muslims to Christianity.

As part of Obama’s first run for office, he release his 1995 memoir (fable?), “Dreams from My Father,” in which Obama admits to using marijuana and cocaine.

On “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Obama was asked by Leno about taking drugs. Said Leno, “Remember, Senator, you are under oath. Did you inhale?” Replied Obama, “That was the point.” In his book, Obama excuses his drug use as “reflective of the struggles and confusion of a teenage boy; teenage boys are frequently confused.”

Even more incriminating than the fact that Obama inhaled and admits to “maybe a little blow,” Obama is a cigarette smoker, actually, a chain smoker. That’s more than a just a little substance abuse. The question begs asking, how much of a striver can he be if he’s also a smoker? It was sort of disappointing to read a recent interview in which Mr. Obama claimed to have quit except for the occasional lapse.

Obama has become the Senate’s point man on ethics and now says he will no longer accept rides on corporate jets. This after having accepted 23 such flights, some to attend his own fundraisers, in 2005 alone. He joined only a handful of Democrats in voting against a Senate reform banning the widespread practice of legislators hiring their family members on their campaign or PAC payrolls. He does, after all have a very activist wife.

Ethical questions also surround Obama’s shady real estate deal and relationship with indicted political fundraiser and Arab-American activist Tony Rezko, who befriended Obama during his Harvard days.

Obama bought a $1.65 million dollar mansion at a gigantic discounted price, some $300,000 less than the asking price. The same day, Rezko’s wife bought the adjoining lot, paying the full $625,000 asking price. The Rezko involvement invited a second question for Obama: did Rezko’s wife in effect subsidized Obama’s purchase of the opulent home and also provided an abutting private preserve that adds to its ambience? The lot isn’t accessible from the public street but can be reached from Obama’s property.

Pretty good for a guy earning $165,200 per and who once ran his credit cards up so high that the credit card company denied him access to further use of his card.

His political history in Illinois shows that Obama has proven himself to be a nearly perfect leftist dhimmicrat. He supports homosexual marriage, racial preferences, gun control, flag-burning, socialized medicine and the absolute right to abortion, including partial-birth abortions. He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive.

He is anti-war, voted against the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act, against privatizing Social Security and opposes the death penalty, three strikes laws and school vouchers. He has no military service record.

He believes in the separation of church and state — except when he campaigns in black churches.

He loves Jimmy Carter and is the 18th most liberal member of the Senate, receiving a 100% rating from Americans for Democratic Action, NARAL Pro -Choice America, National Organization for Women, the NAACP and the National Education Association.

Some may say that this backgrounder is biased. However, perception is everything in politics and both Ted Kennedy and CNN (Cable News Network) have mistakenly referred to Obama as Osama (as in ben Laden).

I just don’t believe America will ever elect an uber-liberal, apostate Muslim and self-admitted drug user to the Office of the President of the United States.

this is dr. wright’s excerpt

We can see clearly the confusion in the mind of a few Muslims, and please notice I did not say all Muslims, I said a few Muslims, who see Allah as condoning killing and killing any and all who don’t believe what they don’t believe. They call it jihad. We can see clearly the confusion in their minds, but we cannot see clearly what it is that we do. We call it crusade when we turn right around and say that our God condones the killing of innocent civilians as a necessary means to an end. WE say that God understand collateral damage. We say that God knows how to forgive friendly fire.”

mor of wright’s speech

“We say that God will bless the shock and awe as we take over unilaterally another country, calling it a coalition because we’ve got three guys from Australia, going against the United Nations, going against the majority of Christians, Muslims and Jews throughout the world, making a pre-emptive strike in the name of God. We cannot see how what we are doing is the same thing that Al-Qaeda is doing under a different color flag – calling on the name of a different God to sanction and approve our murder and our mayhem.”
He continues on his thesis of equating government with our God, saying that God sent the early settlers to America to take the country from Native Americans; ordained slavery; and that “we believe that God approves of 6 percent of the people on the face of this earth controlling all of the wealth on the face of this earth while the other 94 percent live in poverty and squalor while we give millions of tax breaks to the white rich.”

It would make your innercity look like heaven. (there is the black hills and Maggie Valley
in N.C. that is beautiful) but most of them are dumps in parts of the country that nobody wanted so the government put the Indians there, at least the ones they didn’t kill. The suicide rate
among the young is very high YET when there is a War it is a known fact that the Indians are
some of the first to voluneer to fight for this Country. THEY are proud Americans and don’t
whine about something that happened years ago. The African Chiefs sold the slaves to
the slave traders why don’t you remember that. The few places that still have slaves are
in Africa.

From the sermon of Reverend Wright, per Kevin:

“When it came to putting her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in interment prison camps.”

Excellent point. In fact, these concentration camps, which was what they were, were responsible for several deaths of Japanese Americans. That is horrible.

The Executive Order 9066 which permitted these camps to exist was put into existance by no person other than Franklin D. Roosevelt, a democrat, and you will hear many democrats hailing FDR as the finest president in history. I find that very disturbing considering that these camps were the most horrific and racist things committed on American soil (right after, of course, slavery, which was partially stopped due to Abraham Lincoln, A REPUBLICAN!).

If you read both of dr. wright and dr. king’s speech, you will see that they are not much different, dr. wright was not talking about d– america, he was talking about the government and How God and Jesus has warned us about creating a war in his name, he spoke about how people would be condemned by killins innocent women and children.

I agree people. Think for yourselves. Protest the media. However, please realize that FOX was created partly due to the extreme left bias in mass media. I think it is wonderful that they can put a little balance out there, no matter how right they lean. Therefore, the mass can have several views put in front of them and then they can decide.

Again Wright is showing his true nature as a deluded bigot willing to incite hatred and discontent. There is absolutely no evidence, speech, documentation or rationale that the Iraq conflict was launched on religious grounds. NONE!

Futhermore, the UK, Spain, Italy and a few others were also part of the coatlition at the time.

We cannot see how what we are doing is the same thing that Al-Qaeda is doing under a different color flag –

Dr Wright also has no understanding of al Qaeda. The organisation has no national ties or alliegences. So now, he’s deluded, a bigot and misinformed.

Rev. Dr. Brenda Eatman Aghahowa: Barbara Jordan on the Wright-Obama Controversy

As a Barbara Jordan scholar, I have written extensively about the late Texas Congresswoman’s style of political communication, one characterized by Celeste Michelle Condit and John Louis Lucaites in their book, Crafting Equality, as that of an “egalitarian consensus builder.” While never skirting issues of race, the Congresswoman addressed these in such a way as to attempt to lower, rather than raise barriers, in a way that would bring people together, rather than divide them.

In recent weeks, the media have sought to vilify and crucify the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., Presidential Candidate Barack Obama’s now-retired pastor of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, by endlessly airing out of context a few controversial remarks he has made over the years while sermonizing. By now, we all are well aware of the caricature the print and broadcast media have proffered of Dr. Wright as a race-baiting madman. (Of note, the current pastor of Trinity, the Rev. Otis Moss III, told members during a recent worship service that persons who had gone to the Trinity website and listened to controversial sermons in their entirety have since written to apologize to Dr. Wright, now clear of media distortion of his words and ideas.)
I have sat ruminating, wondering what my “sheroe” Barbara Jordan would think of all this, if she were alive. Even as her voice of reason was so critical during the Nixon-Watergate Impeachment Hearings, such a voice is desperately needed at this juncture in our national life, even if it must be heard from the grave.

If I may speak for Congresswoman Jordan after nearly a decade of wrestling with her life, work and legacy, after studying her papers in the Barbara Jordan Archives at Texas Southern University in Houston, and after interviewing at length family members and colleagues who knew her, I humbly offer some conclusions here.
First, as a serious Constitutionalist, Barbara Jordan would defend Pastor Wright’s First Amendment right of free speech and his right to be controversial. She would point out, as others have in various columns and forums over the past few weeks, the double standard that has been applied to Rev. Wright. Specifically, she might comment that white right-wing ministers in this country have said the same and worse kinds of things since the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, and few if any media persons have castigated them in similar fashion.
Even though Congresswoman Jordan would not use the same style of expression if she were alive, she likely would defend to the death Dr. Wright’s right to express himself as God has fashioned him to express himself.
Secondly, Jordan was a consummate, balanced researcher. Her famous Statement on Impeachment, delivered before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee on July 25, 1974, carefully juxtaposed President Richard Milhous Nixon’s actions with the criteria for impeachment. Given this, Jordan likely might be scratching her head as to why many Americans have not had the intellectual or emotional (indeed, as a preacher’s kid, the spiritual) maturity to do their own research with regard to Dr. Wright and the Trinity congregation – a church that some have disparagingly mislabeled as “crackpot” in the media in recent weeks. She would wonder about the knee-jerk reactions to brief sound bites that have reduced and mischaracterized 36 years of incredible ministry leadership to headship of a heretical cult. She would muse, “Aren’t Americans smart enough to investigate for themselves?” For, if those Americans who knee-jerked had gone to the Internet (even if they had to go to their local library or other location to access it) and visited the church’s website, rather than simply buying wholesale what the media have offered, they would know, “The Truth About Trinity”.

As a member of Trinity for the past 12 years and as an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ for 20 years, I am well acquainted with the teachings and writings of Dr. Wright, a well-respected theologian, scholar and seminary professor who has written several books, all theologically and biblically sound. A man of letters, he has two master’s degrees, an earned doctorate, and several honorary doctorates. I also am well acquainted with the 70-plus ministries of outreach at the church that help folk spiritually and practically, offering assistance especially to those marginalized and disenfranchised ones whom Jesus called, “the least of these.” Research would reveal that Dr. Wright has grown the church from 87 members to more than 8,000 over the past 36 years. In addition, Rev. Wright has mentored and ordained hundreds of men and women to preach the Christian gospel. Of note, Trinity’s membership has included, and currently includes some white members. One of those white members was the former UCC Illinois Conference Minister, Jane Fisler Hoffman, who has taken another denominational post in California. A white male member of more than 20 years, William A.Von Hoene Jr., wrote compellingly in a March 26, 2008 editorial for the Chicago Tribune of how Dr. Wright counseled his African-American wife (then his fiancée) for four hours, trying to get her to
stick to her original decision to marry Von Hoene after Dr. Wright learned she planned to back out of the marriage because he is white.

Trinity is not monolithic in terms of race or culture. It has members that are Latina/Latino, that are Spanish-speaking, French-speaking, and that are from many countries, including Columbia, France, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Sudan and England. It is perhaps one of the most diverse congregations in the country.
The usual Bible studies, choral groups, and benevolence efforts that one would find at any Christian church are supplemented at Trinity by ministries of employment, housing, food sharing, legal counseling, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS support, drug and alcohol abuse recovery, food sharing, television and radio, etc. The church’s outreach is local, national and global. As a result of Rev. Wright encouraging members to exercise faithful stewardship with respect to tithes and offerings (financial giving), the church burned the mortgage on its $12 million worship center some years back.

The Christian cross has two axes or dimensions, the vertical and the horizontal. Some Christian church leaders of conservative bent act as if issues like abortion and gay marriage, which are related to personal choice and personal spirituality (the vertical dimension of faith), are the only issues on which the church should act politically. Dr. Wright, however, is spiritually clear that Christians ought to pay attention as well to the horizontal dimension of faith, that is to issues of sociopolitical significance that affect more than one individual at a time – matters such as institutional racism and global warming that, when acted and legislated upon, positively impact millions and billions of persons at once.
His is a holistic approach to the gospel. He is clear that the church must be concerned and vocal on any issues that affect persons’ spiritual, physical and emotional wellbeing and not just those that conservative churches have chosen to focus on.

As a minister and parishioner, when I hear Dr. Wright speak out forcefully on issues of social justice, I always hear echoing in my spiritual ear the words and stridency of biblical prophets Micah, Amos and Jesus, who also bucked the status quo while speaking truth to power. When he speaks out from a biblical perspective on issues like employment discrimination, war mongering for oil profit (be aware that Pope Benedict XVI also opposes the War in Iraq), environmental racism, racial profiling and the like, I clearly hear the paraphrased words of these biblical prophets, who have intoned:
“But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness as an ever-flowing stream.”
Amos 5:24
“What does God require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
“Inasmuch as you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to me.”
Matthew 25:40.
Dr. Wright’s is an intelligent and spirited gospel that requires Christians (who are commanded to love God with all their hearts and minds) to think deeply about issues with impact far beyond “us four and no more.” Worshiping and “critical thinking,” as we call it in academia, are not mutually exclusive. Indeed, they must go together.
In short, and this is the third and final point, Barbara Jordan, who, while at Boston University Law School, sat under the erudite teaching and preaching of Rev. Howard Thurman (an African-American minister who was one of the nation’s greatest preachers of the 20th century), would be clear that Rev. Wright is in good spiritual company. For he follows in the footsteps of fiery prophets before him in the Judeo-Christian tradition.
Not all prophets have a call to diplomatic consensus-building as did/do Barbara Jordan, Barack Obama, Andrew Young and other politicians of that ilk. Witness Jesus throwing the money changers out of the temple because they had, in His words, made the house of prayer a den of thieves – a marketplace and a currency exchange, in effect! (See Matthew 19:45-46.) Anyone who has read the gospels knows that Jesus was not politically correct, and neither were the biblical prophets and apostles who preceded or followed him.
I ask along with Jordan, who queried an audience at a race relations conference in Dayton, Ohio in 1990, “White America, what’s bugging you?” In other words, why are some so uncomfortable with the truth that Rev. Wright speaks on issues of race and politics? Has he said anything that is not true? Of course, truth often hurts, and if we are not mature enough to handle it, we lash out at the person purveying it.
As Barack Obama noted in his profound speech addressing the controversy involving Rev. Wright, race still is a huge issue that cannot be ignored in this country. Anyone who believes the playing field has been leveled in education, housing, criminal justice and other arenas is deluding himself or herself. Ask almost anyone who lives in Black skin.

Barbara Jordan, one of the most spellbinding orators in our nation’s history and one whose biography is lined with firsts, would be the first to affirm the truth of what Dr. Wright has said, although she would have packaged the material differently. Jordan’s bottom line here for Americans? “Shape up! Stop being intellectually lazy and relying on 30-second sound bites from media that thrive on sensationalism! On any given issue, do your own research and think for yourself!” It might take a little extra effort on the part of any elderly and others who are not computer savvy or who are not mobile or healthy enough to get to a library. These persons will have to rely on friends, family members and perhaps even nursing home staff to help them secure as many perspectives as possible on any given controversial issue. Since these persons constitute a major voting bloc, however, it is imperative that they make this extra effort to try to be fully rather than partially informed.
Jordan would concur with Trinity’s Pastor Moss, who told the media and Americans recently to get not just a “bite” of Trinity, but “the whole meal.” Amen,

Amen and Amen!

To Know Rev. Wright Is To Love Rev. Wright

I found this great post over at the daily kos. I’ve found so many great stories from people both white and black about their encounters with Rev. Wright….

Which brings me to Dr. Wright and Barack Obama. See, I know Dr. Wright. In the 90’s, I recorded his sermons at the Interdenominational Ministers Conference in Harrisburg, PA. Every year, for 10 years, I provided live sound and recording services for this week long revival. For 5 days in a row, Dr. Wright would preach, and I would record. It was a challenge for a lot of reasons. First, all of these preachers start at a bare whisper, and end up at full volume. But if you try to turn them down, they will tell you over the PA system “Don’t you touch that fader!!!”. They work the mic, they work the system, and they work the crowd. Where I recorded from, I couldn’t see the stage. One night, I heard this awful thumping noise coming from Dr. Wright’s mic, but I lost his voice. As I crept onto the wing of the stage, I saw why – he was swinging the mic on the cable, and pounding it on the stage as he exhorted the crowd to let Jesus into their hearts. I didn’t love that part, but the crowd did. Dr. Wright walked backstage, grinned at me, and said “Send me a bill for the mic.”
For one week of each year, for 10 years, I hung out backstage with Dr. Wright, Dr. Owens, Dr. Moss, Jr. and Dr. Moss III, who has succeeded Wright at Trinity. As the only white guy in this crowd, and an atheist to boot, it was uncomfortable, at first. Mostly for them. So they solved it by declaring me an “honorary Negro”, and trying to convert me. It made for some interesting conversations.

CONT’D

To Know Rev. Wright Is To Love Rev. Wright

So what did I hear? I heard a man preach who loved Jesus with all his heart. He loved people with all his heart. He even loved me with all his heart, even though it was probably hard for him to walk in my shoes. He tried his best to make me see the light, and he never gave up on me. I heard him say things about white people in his sermons that were not flattering. I also, and more often, heard him say things about black people that were not flattering. He preached that no-holds-barred, do-the-right-thing, eye-for-an-eye stuff that is so hard to live up to, but was for him the only acceptable way to live. Dr. Wright did not turn me into a black militant. But he did turn me into a white atheist who spent a lot of time thinking about what it might be like to grow up as a black man in the America he knows. He helped me to wear those shoes, at least for a little while, and he tried to wear mine.

Comment by JEAN T.

Imagine my surprise a week ago, when there he was, in all his Pentecostal glory, on the TV, saying “God D America!” What could have made him say such a thing? Maybe it was the segregated bathrooms, restaurants, hotels, busses, trains, and planes. Or was it the dogs? The fire hoses? the billy clubs? The nooses? Or maybe it was serving in the Marines, and coming home to be spit on and denied even the pretense of equality, in a country where the watchword was “Know your place.”

Comment by JEAN T.

Dr. Wright and Dr. Moss Jr. marched with Dr. King. Try marching in those shoes for a minute. Hate pouring on you like lava, fear in your heart because you know that many of the people lining the streets would happily kill you because of that one chromosome that gave you black skin, and because you had the temerity to insist that you be treated equally? I can walk in those shoes in my mind, but I don’t think I could do it for real, because I don’t have that much courage. Dr. Wright did. My Dad did too.

I didn’t intend for this to be about my father at all – I intended for it to be about the things I talked about at the start. But as I’ve written more and more, I’ve realized how much I miss my father, especially right now. Because I could have told him about Dr. Wright. I’m sure my Dad would have been offended by Wright saying “God D America.” My father fought for this country, and his knee jerk reaction would be that you don’t say things like that out loud. But I would have enjoyed telling my Dad that Dr. Wright fought for this country, too. He fought for the right to be able to say “God D America” in places where you can’t say things like that. I know what my father would have said when I told him that Dr. Wright has spent 40 years helping people who couldn’t help themselves, and who America had forgotten. I know what my father would have said when I told him that Dr. Wright was very kind to me.

Did anyone read about Obama trying to gain support from gun owners in PA? His real agenda is to ban all handguns except for hunting or practice shooting. He does not think citizens should own a gun for protection. If Obama bans every American citizens right to protect their homes, then he will not defend America from her enemies.
Only fanatical kool-aid drinkers will vote for Obama. If he wins, then the majority in this country is zealous and he is just as nutty as they are. It would not be the first time we had a lunatic for president; we only had 4 years of Carter and Iran went from an ally of the US to a terrorist country. Unfortunately, 4 years of an Obama administration will put the US in greater danger with a nuclear Iran threatening the world.

Pennsylvania: Clinton 18 Points Ahead of Obama
SurveyUSA Breaking News – 1 hour ago

In a Democratic Primary in Pennsylvania today, 04/08/08, two weeks to the vote, Hillary Clinton defeats Barack Obama 56% to 38%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WCAU-TV Philadelphia, KDKA-TV Pittsburgh, WHP-TV Harrisburg, and WNEP-TV Wilkes-Barre. The results are almost identical to a SurveyUSA poll released one month ago. Then, Clinton led by 19. Today, 18. In between, however, in a SurveyUSA tracking poll released last week, Obama had closed to within 12 points. What happened in the past 7 days?

1st: Some of the men who flirted with Obama at the end of March have returned to Clinton. Other men have moved to the sidelines. Last week, Obama led by 7 among men. Men were 46% of likely voters. Today, Clinton leads among men. Men are 42% of likely voters.

2nd: Obama lost ground among voters age 35 to 49. A week ago, he had caught Clinton in this age group. Today, he’s down 18. By contrast, there is no movement among voters age 50+. Clinton’s lead among voters 50+ is stable across all 3 tracking polls.

3rd: In Southeast PA, which includes Philadelphia and which makes up 42% of likely Democratic voters, Clinton had a good week, Obama a bad week. Clinton is above 50% for the first time and Obama is now down by 9 in a region he must win to carry the state. In Southwest PA, which includes Pittsburgh, Clinton polls at 60% for the first time, 25 points atop Obama. Only in West Central PA, which includes Johnstown, has there been consistent movement toward Obama.

4th: Among moderates, Obama lost key ground while Clinton gained ground. Clinton now leads by 24 points, 60% to 36%. Obama also lost ground among Liberals. And while Obama’s support fell among Conservatives, so did Clinton’s.

5th: Interviewing for SurveyUSA’s 04/01/08 release, one week ago, occurred in the middle of Obama’s 6-day bus tour through Pennsylvania, which began on 03/28/08. Obama may have benefited a week ago from the media spotlight. Summary: The complete absence of movement among whites and among women is striking. Among white voters, Clinton polled at 61% in all 3 tracking polls. Among women, Clinton was at 62% a month ago, 62% last week, and 61% today. These two unwavering core constituencies help make Clinton so formidable in the Keystone state.

Reverend Jeremiah Wright is an outstanding church leader whom I have heard speak a number of times. He has served for decades as a profound voice for justice and inclusion in our society. He has been a vocal critic of the racism, sexism and homophobia which still tarnish the American dream. To evaluate his dynamic ministry on the basis of two or three sound bites does a grave injustice to Dr. Wright, the members of his congregation, and the African-American church which has been the spiritual refuge of a people that has suffered from discrimination, disadvantage, and violence. Dr. Wright, a member of an integrated denomination, has been an agent of racial reconciliation while proclaiming perceptions and truths uncomfortable for some white people to hear. Those of us who are white Americans would do well to listen carefully to Dr. Wright rather than to use a few of his quotes to polarize. This is a critical time in America’s history as we seek to repent of our racism. No matter which candidates prevail, let us use this time to listen again to one another and not to distort one another’s truth.

and it would be ok to start a church with this on our web page

1) Commitment to God
(2) Commitment to the White Community
(3) Commitment to the White Family
(6) Adherence to the White Work Ethic
(8) Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
(9) Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community
(10) Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
