Mark McKinnon: Just keeping his word.
Miami, Fl:
“…just keeping my word.”
Mark McKinnon, staffer, advisor and a well-known fixture on the McCain campaign trail, last year said he would leave the McCain campaign if Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination. He said at the time he did not want to work on a campaign against Obama. McKinnon, today, sent out an email saying he would be stepping down.
McKinnon, and most everyone else in the McCain camp, concluded Clinton lost more than a month ago.
The long time Austin, Texas based Democratic ad man, media strategist and campaign consultant rose to national prominence as an original Bush 2000 insider with then Governor George W. Bush’s start-up team.
In announcing his decision, he tossed out all the one-liners you would expect from a committed McCain supporter in an email this afternoon.
He is still a “1,000 percent McCain man. Just Going off the ad team.”
McKinnon says he is going from linebacker to head cheerleader and he’ll “still be showing up occasionally in my lucky hat.”
The campaign let it be known about a month ago that a top notch team of about half dozen people had been assembled to steer McCain’s media message.
McKinnon’s a Democrat, and will remain loyal to McCain from the sidelines…but will not work against Obama. It’s just that simple.

McCain doesn’t need a D. There are plenty of great strategists on the R side of the aisle but his campaign needs someone really crafty and really nuanced NOW!!!
With this walk….he’ll still officially be batting a thousand. (1.000) Smart man…Good eye!
There…I said it.

A letter was sent to the DNC explaining their concern about the shadiness of the DNC and this is how it was replied:

I have received a number of similar emails form the “Rule or Ruin” crowd. Bottom line, there will be more voters who care about America this November than sore losers and as a consequence Sen Obama will be the elected President.
All I have to say to the DNC is GOOD-BYE and GOOD RIDDENCE!!!!!
Such loyalty from McKinnon………be careful or Obama will throw you under the bus if you screw up. He threw the people from WV, Kentucky, and Michigan under the bus. He is now trying to pick up Florida, from under the bus.
McCain no longer needs an ad man because now that Obama has been crowned king of the Far Left everything ( his name, his wife, his record, his associates, his relatives) is off limits. Anybody can make a printout of McCain’s resume and stick it on a telephone pole. See you later Mark…
But has he ever said WHY he doesn’t want to work against Obama? Why isn’t he supporting Obama if he can’t bring himself to do a professional job for McCain without damaging Obama? Does McKinnon know too much that would damage Obama or what?
Advice to Mccain. STAY AWAY FROM BUSH
George Bush goes to Jerusalem last week. He gives an impassioned speech about never dealing with nasty regimes [that sponsor terror]. He basically says ‘don’t make agreements that appease [them].’ And less than a week later, the Israeli government announces it is engaged in peace negotiations with the Assad dictatorship in Syria.
Maybe irony is the only way you could put that, because this president appears incapable of normal human emotions like embarrassment and humiliation, which would be the more accurate way of describing this.

I’m not interested in what Mark does or doesnot do. I’m interested in down size goverment, low taxes, drill for oil, repeal the endangered species act, stop the farm subsides. The democrats ruined the family farm,I don’t to subsidez Ted Turner,do you?Forget gloable warming, after all the billions are spent,if GOD programed it to warm up,it will warm up.What is to be will be.
might be reason McCain seems to be at a stand still. Good with him going might help McCain he was prob a BO spy anyways by the looks of how he directed McCain’s camp goodbye to bad rubbish. I think he gave McCain the lousiest strategy that I seen this whole primary.
Why can no one see how EVIL Obama is? Is everyone blind??? He is out to destroy our country just as much as any other Islamic terrorist does. Give me a break. WAKE UP AMERICA, before it is TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Democrats for Mccain08
No Obama
Carl what does Mr. McCain think of what Sen. Tom Harkin said about his military backgound making him unfit for commander in Chief? This comment also hurts out military men and women I think!

Since this Campaign is a wild one this time around, and there seems to be a chance for a first of something, either first black Pres. or first white woman Pres. and both parties claim they will be the first to offer the olive branch across the aisle to work with the other side. Why not John McCain as Pres. and Hillary Clinton as VP? “Come on Mr.McCain, be a real man and be the first Rep. to actually reach out with that olive branch and have a Dem. on the ticket with you!”
Could you imangine?
I hope this dosn’t get posted twice.
But just in case.
I believe that this election year has been a wild one. A lot of hopes of 1st timers. 1st black Pres? 1st woman Pres? how about throwing a new one in the mix, how about a 1st Rep. Prez and 1st woman Dem VP on the same ticket to the white house? Could somebody please get the message through to Mr. McCain to maybe think about that? I know it may be to late now, but i thought somebody would have thought of that scenario already. am i the only one?
This has been a WILD election. Alot of hopes for 1st timers. 1st black Prez. 1st white woman Prez. How about a new one to throw in the mix. How about, 1st Rep. Prez. , 1st woman VP. on the same ticket running for the white house. They all claim they are willing to offer a olive branch across the aisle to work with the the other side. PROVE IT!
Maybe JEB BUSH!!!!
McKinnon’s stance reveals a political reality, politicians, even those who do not think Obama would be the best President, are backing Obama.
America, get ready for our first Affirmative Action President.
If All the bloggers go to “larry Sinclair” and read what he says people might change their mind about the candidates. DJM
McKinnon won’t campaign against Obama despite believing that McCain would make a better President.
America, get ready for our first Affirmative Action President.
McKinnon won’t campaign against Obama, even though he thinks McCain would make a better President.

Sorry, I know this isn’t the palce…but I need to ask somewhere.
What was up with Liz Trotta on Election HQ today? It seems she called for Obama to be shot like Ossama…and the Kos, Huffington Post, are all over it.
Can someone let me know what happened?
no way
“PRINCETON, NJ — Gallup Poll Daily tracking from May 20-24 finds Hillary Clinton maintaining a significant 49% to 44% lead over John McCain when registered voters are asked about their preferences for the fall general election, while McCain has a slight 47% to 45% advantage over Barack Obama.”
“Despite the fact that Obama is considered to be the highly probable Democratic nominee, Gallup Poll Daily tracking continues to show that, at the moment, Clinton is performing better against presumptive Republican nominee John McCain than is Obama. Clinton’s five percentage point lead over McCain is statistically significant, and considerably stronger than Obama’s 2-point loss to McCain among registered voters nationwide.”

McCain has the Presidency and America knows it. Obama really messed up the Democratic Party – it is divided for sure. If Hillary can’t be President than her supporters will vote for McCain just to make sure Obama looses the race. Obama’s campaign supporters are full of hate and have acted terribly towards Hillary and in many ways there tactics are just unforgivable
McCain 08!
McCain is counting on Dems crossing over due to his “moderate” reputation. It would serve him well to have some of those on his team to cement the idea & keep his message somewhat centered.
I doubt he’ll be able to woo both the conservative right and the moderate left though, those two things just aren’t compatible.
AMERICA IS IN ACUTE NEED OF AN HONEST AND EFFICIENT ECONOMIST RUNNING OUR GOVERNMENT. MIT ROMNEY SEEMS TO BE THE BEST WE CAN GET. I BEG MCCAIN TO SELECT ROMNEY FOR HIS RUNNING MATE.JBS
