I remember it too clearly. My husband was and is a General Licensed Building Contractor (home builder). When Jimmy Carter was President, thank goodness for only one term, interest rates to buy homes skyrocked to 17 % - 21 %. We couldn't even give away the homes, who could afford them at those interest rates. Many of our friends that were also homebuilders lost everything they had worked so hard for so many years. We were fortunate, we had substantial savings and were able to pay the bank their monthly payments of the last five available homes. But we lost every penny we had saved. Obama is a liberal, will raise our taxes, our interest rates, does not have trust in our military--he declared some time ago that the war was already lost, what kind of American is that? Obama´s statement that a win for McCain would in fact be like a third Bush term is far more accurate than McCain´s saying that a victory for Obama would put us back in the days of Carter. This "gotcha" strategy Obama=Carter and McCain=Bush is all BS. Conservatives don't like McCains position on immigration, drilling in ANWR, McCain/Fiengold, and generally being soft on the democrates. He needs to change his "REAL" position on illegal immigration, (stay the hell away from Teddy), and he really needs to change his position on drilling in ANWR and other US treasure (Oil). If he doesn't come to the conservatives the conservatives will leave him hanging. There are other alternatives that are more in line with all of the conservative views; Economic, Defense, Courts, Taxes, Smaller Government, State Rights, Right to Life, etc. The more conservatives feel their views are being ignored by McCain the more conservatives will desert in favor of Bob Barr, and as that percentage increases the chances for McCain to win decreases. McCain needs to pay attention to the opinion of those who are going to put him in office. He better remember he is not in the Senate and we can't be bullied. I remember having to carve out the food we bought on Friday and divide it religiously into 7 days because we couldn't fill up our tanks again until trucks delivered the gas again on thursday in this very small town. There was no commuting 65 miles to the big city for work or more food if we needed it. There was no gas and if you didn't have a local job, you were hungry or moved on. I am a baby boomer and was living under conditions my grandmother told me about from the depression. So I think Carter=democrats=depression=being hungry=NEVER AGAIN. I have HATED democrats ever since. Now it is: OBAMA=CARTER=NO GAS=DEPRESSION=BEING HUNGRY=COLD WINTER=NEVER AGAIN...no way we are warned people. You had to be there to see it. Remember, remember. Before it was the Pole in congress that stuck it to us, now it is Pelosi. How evil.
