McCain, Brownback: Similarities and Differences

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

- per Malini Bawa in Grand Rapids, Michigan –

John McCain now has the backing of Senator Sam Brownback, but the two don’t march in lockstep on every issue important to conservatives.

One example: their differing views on embryonic stem cell research.

Both Senators have been pro-life through their careers.

However, McCain supports embryonic stem cell research, though he says he’d like to see more research using adult cells.

Brownback is firmly against using embryonic cells under any circumstances.

Brownback dropped his own presidential bid last month.
McCain hopes his colleague’s endorsement will help him win the support of social conservatives, especially in Iowa.

Romney Goes Tailgating!

Monday, November 5th, 2007

per Shushannah Walshe

East Lansing, MI–

Governor Mitt Romney went tailgating with the Michigan State College Republicans this weekend. Supporters in blue and green turned up to shake the Governor’s hand and pledge their support.

Michigan State suffered a heartbreaking loss to the University of Michigan with a come from behind win. At least some MSU students got to meet a presidential candidate. Unfortunately, I’m not sure that that was much of a consolation to these football fans.
