At the Romney Michigan HQ, aides to the Detroit born former Massachusetts Governor say he has won.
The economy was the most important issue according to exit polls.
By the end of the third quarter last year Mitt had tapped his personal fortune for 17 million. He has spent at least that since then. By some estimates he has now spent in excess of 40 million of his own money.
He’ll have two wins…Wyoming and Michigan and 2nds in Ia and NH..by far the largest delegate and vote count of any republican…and he STILL has more money than any of em going forward.
With about five weeks to go before the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary, the latest Fox News poll in the state shows the race on both sides tightening. On the Republican side, Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney continues to hold a lead but Rudy Giuliani and John McCain remain within striking distance, according to the poll of likely Republican primary voters.
Mitt Romney 29%
John McCain 21%
Rudy Giuliani 19%
Mike Huckabee 7%
Among likely Democratic primary voters, Sen. Hillary Clinton is seeing a softening in her lead with Sen. Barack Obama closing in on the party front-runner.
Hillary Clinton 30%
Barack Obama 23%
John Edwards 17%
Bill Richardson 12%
The telephone poll was conducted for FOX News by Opinion Dynamics Corp. among 1,000 likely presidential primary voters in New Hampshire, including 500 likely Democratic primary voters and 500 likely Republican primary voters, from Nov. 27 to Nov. 29. The entire poll has a 3-point error margin overall and a 4 point error for the subgroups of Democratic and GOP presidential primary voters.
It turns out that the openly-gay retired General, Keith Kerr, who harangued the GOP candidates tonight about the need to let gays in the military is an official Hillary Clinton supporter.
Here is a June press release from HRC campaign naming “Keith Kerr, retired Colonel., U.S. Army; retired Brigadier General, California National Reserve” member of “LGBT Americans For Hillary Steering Committee”

Thanksgiving provided little rest for the campaigns. A year long marathon now goes into the kick. It is 3 dimensional chess played 5 ways, and it’s turning nasty.
Rudy is firing in several directions: Fred has no record, Mitt has questionable judgement, Huckabee is weak on immigration and tax hikes.
Fred hits Romney for being pro choice 3 yrs ago and trying to buy the election, Rudy for weakness on illegal immigration, guns, and social issues …Huckabee gets flak for tax hikes. Romney blasts Rudy as weak on immigration and social issues, Huckabee on immigration and tax hikes, and Fred on being an actor with a reputation for laziness.
And then there is John McCain, Just back from Thanksgiving in Iraq with the troops, he argues that all of his rivals lack the experience he has – and that is required – to be commander in chief.done
She’s started being more aggressive against her rival Democrats, but Hillary Clinton takes a turn back toward the general election fight in a new campaign ad airing in New Hampshire. In the :30 spot, she goes after the Republican candidates who have already started attacking her — showing clips of anti-Clinton ads from John McCain and Mitt Romney with an announcer saying “Here they go again – the same old Republican attack machine is back.”
“Maybe it’s because they know that there’s one candidate with the strength and experience to get us out of Iraq, one candidate who will end tax giveaways for the big corporations, one candidate committed to cutting the huge Republican deficit and one candidate who will put government back to work for the middle class.”
Of course, the Machine itself disagrees with that line of reasoning. RNC Spokesman Danny Diaz says, “Senator Clinton has spent her entire career blaming her problems on her political opponents. The only things that are the ’same’ and ‘old’ are Hillary Clinton’s excuses.”
And Romney spokesman Kevin Madden says, “Governor Romney also has a record of, and reputation for, actually getting things done. Senator Clinton has a reputation for one thing: partisanship. Extreme partisanship.”
The Des Moines Register reports that a city council member has been approached by immigration groups about a proposal to make Des Moines a sanctuary city. Illegal immigration is becoming a defining issue between the candidates and this is some serious grist for the mill.
In the spirit of the season, a new poll out today finds that Americans would most like to spend Thanksgiving with either Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or Rudy Giuliani.
What does this mean for the presidential race? Absolutely nothing. It is only an indication of overall name recognition, but it is still fun to report anyway.
Clinton tops the list with 27 percent, in the latest Quinnipiac Poll with 24 percent saying they would rather share their holiday meal with Obama (John Edwards gets 13 percent).
Closely behind, Rudy Giuliani is on the guest list for 22 percent of voters, followed John McCain (17 percent), Fred Thompson (14 percent) and Mitt Romney with 7 percent.
Giuiliani and Obama have the most crossover appeal with 21 percent of Democrats saying they would share their fixins’ with the former NYC mayor while Obama attracts 24 percent of Republicans (compared with 14 percent for Clinton).
While John McCain trails front-runner Rudy Giuliani in the race for the Republican nomination, slightly more Americans see McCain as a straight-talker and as honest and trustworthy than Giuliani; furthermore, for the second month in row McCain performs better against leading Democrat Hillary Clinton in hypothetical matchups than any other top-tier Republican, according to a FOX News poll released Thursday.
And despite Clinton having the highest negative rating of all the top contenders, she continues to not only hold a commanding lead in her party’s primary, but also to best her Republican opponents in the horserace.
The national telephone poll was conducted for FOX News by Opinion Dynamics Corp. among 900 registered voters from Nov. 13 to 14. The poll has a 3-point error margin
