Like John McCain, Col. George E. “Bud” Day spent over 5 yrs in Vietnamese POW camps. Day and John McCain were cell-mates for about 2 and a half years. Day is a legendary military hero with more medals and ribbons than anyone since General Douglas MacArthur.

Waterboarding Remains a Top Issue for McCain

John McCain says he won’t stop speaking out against waterboarding.
The Senator has repeatedly criticized Republican rivals who’ve suggested the technique should remain an option.
He uses the issue to highlight his own military experience and national security qualifications.

Campaigning in Iowa Monday, Senator McCain also challenged Rudy Giuliani for his remarks last month about sleep deprivation. Giuliani said if THAT’S torture, then campaigning for president would qualify.

As a former POW, McCain strongly disagrees.

MCCAIN SAYS HE’LL SUPPORT MUKASEY FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

Republican presidential candidate John McCain says both he and his colleague Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) will vote for Michael Mukasey for attorney general.

Opposition to Mukasey’s nomination has grown, since he stated that he’s not sure if waterboarding is torture.

Senator McCain has repeatedly expressed the view that waterboarding IS torture. And as a former Vietnam POW, he’s long been an outspoken opponent of all forms of torture. But now McCain says he’s satisfied that Mukasey’s stand on waterboarding.

The Senator took questions Thursday from a Rotary group in the Charleston, SC, area.
